40k is a poor man's Dune. Starship Troopers. Star Wars. Star Trek. Judge Dredd. Rambo. Zulu. Just about every action and war movie from the 70s and 80s. But Dune is the primary influence. If you are interested in 40k, don't bother with 40k. Just read Dune, Heinlein, and watch Star Trek. Maybe read Dredd if you're looking for a comic. You'll get all the good parts of 40k, and you'll be reading better literature and thus not pollute your mind. Dredd is mind pollution, but it's still better than most comic books.

But for mass effect, the equipment designs for one. Guns, armor, the special abilities, and the Tower being like the citadel, the atmosphere for me felt almost the same, except online.. and no quests.
I mean their prices have just kept rising and whenever they've had sales or deals its always been bottom of the barrel stuff like the little scenery pieces like three drum barrels and an ammo case. On top of that they dont want you using non GW kits or paints etc which is kind of understandable but justified when other companies produce some better and much cheaper kits/paints

Typical reply. Not what I was getting at. The whole point of the hobby is to collect and build your army piece by piece, improving as you go.
The fun of the hobby is playing against your friends and winning or losing then thinking "If I had a librarian I could..." then heading to the store that weekend and buying a new unit or units and building and glueing them then using them in the next game with different units, terrain, rules objectives etc

Something that can be developed further and further. And then suddenly it's not about aliens but about drama and the aliens become some sort of background. The more wierd ones remain undeveloped while the humanized ones get more spotlight. Any options you ever had get reduced and reduced. Even the damn dialogues get less options. It degraded in every aspect other than combat. But the combat never was really good so it focused on the worst thing it had. It's not a sudden fall. It's something that constantly gets downgraded.

I can't get into 40k It feels like a child wrote it. Look at the powers of the characters, the big guy is literally named God King Emperor of Mankind. Is that supposed to be a joke? When you were little did you ever play pretend with your friends and insist you 'got' them but they made up some bullshit like 'NUH UH MY ARMOR IS MAGIC AND STOPS EVERYTHING IN EXISTENCE' It's like someone started making a character design and didn't stop until he could cram every idea ever onto a foot soldier and for the bros some gross out humor like replacing their balls with grenades

All optional quests took place on essentially the same, randomly generated "planet" with a different color and maybe 1/2 the game consisted of totally uninspired driving around in empty environments. Nah. In fluff, the Eldar are not pushovers to space marines, unless they are being led by plot armored special characters, and in the actual tabletop, Eldar are the superior army when compared to muhreens.

They don't even have a release date for it, so it could potentially be out end of 2015...maybe even 2016. Still they did release a AAA quality trailer. Like others have said I think GW originally wanted to make games with Blizzard, but GW backed out for whatever reason, leaving Blizzard with a half (if not fully) finsihed game, so they just chnaged some names about and published it, and then made history!
The sad thing is the original Warhammer Online (WO) - by Climax was going to be released a bit before WoW, but due to GW pulling out due to a larger then expected budget, the IP for warhammer bounced around loads before Mythic grabbed it and actually finished it.
There are many many older (and worse) WH and 40k games, Shadow of the Horned Rat, Realm of Chaos, Rites of War, Final Liberation, etc. But those were turn based games, basicly computerised versions of table top games.
Thes also a Bloodbowl game out that is inch for inch a digital version of the game. THough there are rumours of a FPS in the form of Space Hulk on the way...
Blizzard started WC and was negotiating for GW to allow them to attach it to the Warhammer IP. Games Workshop wanted way more control and money than was reasonable to any company because they'd ripped of Tolkein before Blizzard did. Blizzard had to change everything to prevent GW from suing them.
GW made a horrendous business decision because that the only kind of business decision they know how to make.
Warcraft was made for six bucks and a case of piss weak American beer. Now Blizzard is massive and Games Workshop is a cluster-fuck.
Warhammer's IP has virtually no value to any quality developer simply because Games Workshop is an absolutely horribly run company that's even worse to deal with when you want to keep things professional.
They have a passion for their product but their taste is in their toenails and their common sense is utterly absent.
