You are given the ability to resurrect one game from your childhood.
This game will be reincarnated as an HD version with updated graphics, engine and networking system.
All subsequent titles to this game will vanish from existence, and everyone who played those games will now play the title you chose.
The game in question will then receive support from its original dev team and will have monthly updates.
Which game do you choose?
>ending the thread with the first post
Nothing else matters.
>GW skill system
>Dragon's Dogma combat
Vanilla WoW is mainly nostalgia material. I played a private server a while back and aside for some bugs here and there, trust me, the base content is still fucking horrible. Only reason it was considered good was because everyone suffered together, fueling the nostalgia.
>>GW skill system
>>Dragon's Dogma combat
How would that even work? GW1 skills are click to awesome.
What for? Fun can be had without balance.
I mean QA'd, you'd have to go through hundreds of skills and see how they react in hundreds of scenarios, the permutations of testing would be like all levels of hell clusterfucked into one.
>City of Heroes
>0 of 0
Goddamn it guys
Doesn't the party full of primary necromancer Soul Reaping, Minion Master and Discord variants which has been swimming around for years kind of make a mockery of the "synchronised full party build crafting"?
>That Dark Elf thread from last night
>couldn't change secondary professions until you passed a solo test of skill that relied on your wits over your "strength"
>equip sacrifice skills
>stand still and watch the AI kill itself
I also want a faithful sequel.
>tfw you will never find out what happened to Aken Bosch
>tfw you will never find out what Shivans were trying to achieve
I loved how going in with your regular skills was just asking to get your ass kicked since he had like 20 in each stat and top-notch ranged and melee weapons. You usually had to trick him in some way.
Has GW2 even release Guild Halls yet?
Or in fact anything beside temp content?
nightfall was released before guild wars second year.
gw2 is almost two years old.
healing skills have been the only skills added and half of them are useful.
Grandmaster traits have been added most are useless. guardian got fucking nothing out of the new grand master traits.
No. Only cash shop content is permanent.
I always found the Hero Party a double edge sword.
>yeah you can a great monk build without waiting hours for one
>kills all fun for searching for a party since you'll have the best builds for your NPCs
Dungeon Keeper, Star Craft, Warcraft 3, Diablo 1 and 2, Age of Empires 2, Age of Mythology.
So many good answers also if you mean MMO then Knight Online, MU also and Vanilla or BC WoW
That was a rag tag group of /v/ users who are depress about GW.
Try to do it without a able group or guild.
>tfw no CoH /v/ group
>Trying to do thunderhead keep when there was only Prophecies.
Holy shit, that was some fucking bullshit right there.
>This game will be reincarnated as an HD version with updated graphics, engine and networking system.
It hurts because this is what Anet promised us. Then slowly everybody who worked on GW1 left ArenaNet and by the time GW2 was ready there was probably <10 original Anet employees there
Old MMO's were about the journey, not the destination. Vanilla WoW and its predecessors only sucked if you're one of those fags who thinks an MMO is all about rushing to max level so you can idle in a city queueing for instanced dungeons all day for maximum points:time efficiency.
CSGO had positive updates. Like Nuke's Secret, new Inferno apartments, stattraks (just for fun), buy overhead icons, assist points/MVP stars, balanced weapons so the game is no longer AK/M4/AWP/deagle.
This, this is why GW1 got it right, because you hit level 20 very quickly and the best gear soon followed, but there was still always something new to do that wasn't just chasing bigger numbers. Or maybe I'm just a nostalgiafag...
Truth. Sometimes I wished they never added heroes, but then I would remember forty parties of 6/8 in mission outposts all spamming "6/8 LF Monk" for two straight hours when the game first came out.
By the time I made it to the Ring of Fire missions monks began charging one platinum from each party member before joining.
>HD creatures and environments
>More streamlined UI
>Monthly updates from Relic/Microsoft Game Studios that add new creatures to the metagame
I'm crying, /v/
Have to agree with this. Started playing wow before tauren had mounts (forget patch number) and there was much, much, less emphasis on being max level. Dungeons were more difficult and as such needed more teamwork. World pvp was way more alive and was more natural feeling than forced, stv was a crucible. The worst part is even if they were to release vanilla servers it wouldn't be the same, people are too accustomed to expecting only max level content
>8 years ago
christ, has it been that long
Man I remember how hyped I was for GW2
>we cancel the aztec theme expansion that included Summoner and Chronomacer class so we can focus completely on GW2
>log in GW1 the other day
>so many bday presents
>my old guild is still alive
last person logged in 2 years ago
>tfw you will never play Summoner/Chronomancer
Warhammer Online for sure.. too bad the game died and was rushed from the beginning.. had so much potential.
I knew it was over when they released that teaser video where they said "If you don't like MMO's you'll REALLY want to check out Guild Wars 2!"
What's up with faggot developers trying to cater to people who don't even like the genre of the game they're making?
I will never forget this quote, so prophetic:
>The last day dawns on the Kingdom of Ascalon. It arrives with no fanfare, no tolling of alarms. Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze. People carry on with their daily lives, unaware that in a short while... everything they have ever known will come to an end.
>that god tier art direction
I had such hopes.
And no, PSO2 does not fucking count.
This. My friends and I always turned off some items and kept ones we liked. Sometimes we turned the amount down and whatever, but we always had fun and made different games using different items.
Hammer matches? Pokeball only matches? Sword only dueling? Heart containers with the health mod? Fun stuff.
I gave up on Guild Wars when they nerfed necromancers. Someone finally makes a game where I can be a pimp ass necromancer micromanaging my skeleton army, and then they castrate it and only let you have 8 summons.
I just want more good team based racing games.
Also did giant mode (?) in melee on a small stage with pokeballs only. You get hit with almost everything and just have to try to stay alive longer and throw as many pokeballs as you can.
If you faggots never played with Warcraft 3's custom mapping community you missed out hardcore.
Still the most fun I've ever had playing video games.
I just want tibia to be reborn
pre 8.0 patch
except for druids
I always was annoyed with old Wintermaul design. Getting stuck at the back means you get no money, and it's all about snowballing. Gold should probably have been spread equal, awarded the same at the end of every wave vs per kill.
The least they could've done would've been to add a sliding scale for rewards. Give the guys in back more gold than the front, because I was absolutely tired of having the front kill everything for 20 waves then complain at me when I leak because I never got any money to build anything.
Guild Wars would be my number 1 choice but since you posted it already I'll post my 2nd choice.
>Not leaving when you get stuck on the last spot
People just flamed you for having shit towers when they finally leaked shit when you've had zero kills and zero income all game, but it's still your fault for losing in the end
>all that time spent getting 30 HoM points for GW2 rewards
>GW2 ends up being shit and the rewards all look like ass except for two or three of them
Can you even imagine what the modern gaming industry would do to a RCT sequel?
>I didn't get enough points to get my Felblade back
God I loved that sword
Why are you doing this to me /v/?
Every week you remind me of Guild Wars.
The sequel made me lose all hope in the industry
I did Urgoz and FoW with /v/ last week.
It was pretty fun, I'll be on the look out for another /v/ gathering.
RIGHT in the heart. Atlas Park... goddamn.
My favorite part had to be sewer teams, just you and seven people running around the HUGE labyrinth, meeting other teams and talking about where to go.
You disgust me, you casual fiend!
I still play GW1, I lost my virginity to a girl I helped with Thunderhead Keep, She was so goddamn impressed with my healing skills, she hopped on my dick.
>Gwen gets married and has kids with some fuckwit I don't like
>In GW2 her descendent is an even bigger fuckwit
Why do you do this
There needs to be a word for NTR, but instead of your gf it's your daughter figure.
R-really? That's actually pretty awesome.
Fuck it I'm reinstalling even though I'm beyond shit and my account's already been raided once by some ass who got my password somehow
There's an Exploration title track that will literally feed your autism.
There are incredible locales in the series.
>that fear when your characters will die with the servers and private servers won't be able to save them
>6th,7th, 8th birthday presents are here
>open one, get a tonic
>Oh awesome I can turn into something cool
>turn into this faggot
>exchange my 8th birthday voucher for another tonic
>I wonder who this is gonna be-
>suddenly delicious brown
>Got a Mad king tonic
>He's a manlet
I'll take what I can get
Mini Kuunavang? Yeah I got one of those. I was really happy to get Rurik on my first birthday, because he was my bro 4 life
>all these faggots wanting a Livia tonic
Livia is the best GW girl, followed closely by Jora and then Gwen.
>why can't I hold all this shit taste?
>She's pretty cool I guess but I prefer Eve.
She is everyone's waifu.
I think Cynn is the best girl.
First time I saw her, I thought she looked really pretty and I wanted to make a character that looked like her. So I bought the game. Thanks Cynn.
Just go bother /vg/ if you want up to date screens, I'm not going into that cesspit for you.
>none of the in-game Ele armor looks as good as hers
Not even the best girl in her own continent.
>not wanting to be like the pimp that is Mhenlo
He gets pussy erryday.
Nah, Elite Sunspear was ultra slut mode.
Every girl is Mhenlo's girl. You can't fuck any of them.
Why the fuck were the monk armors in this gave so nice? I remember giving my monk black dyed tattoos everywhere except for the pants which were black dyed FoW. Shit looked great.
Best caster armor in the game coming through, others need not apply.
I tried to make the sluttiest ele possible. How did I do?
>The male Ele armor was even worse
Just mad cause they be stylin all over you
Absolutely the best armor set in the entire game.
SWG. Either chapter 14 or right before the game shut down. The NGE was awful at the start, but right before the game ended, they added a lot of amazing content. Not to mention the Beast Mastery system was the most fun minigame I have ever played.
>Not using apprentice top
Maximum cleaveage exposure.
I liked the teapot helmets ritualists get.
Guild Wars is one of the few games I know of to do necros well. Plus minion mastery was actually a viable build for a while too. Always nice to have a mm along for certain missions, especially shjt like Thunderhead Keep.
Nigger that's not even the best Warrior set.
I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree.
So fucking good that I don't even need to dye it.
ASSASSIN ARMOUR DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH EDGES
"NO" SAID ASSASSIN ARMOUR
"NEVER ENOUGH EDGES"
Eles dont even have the sluttiest armor in the game, Rangers do.
I think they adjusted it back up to 10 at some point, which ended up being pretty good. MM builds after Nightfall and EOTN came out had some interesting ideas too, the shambling horror engine was always good fun.
To this day, t2/t3 pvp in this game is some of the most fun I've had in MMO pvp. The classes' skill sets felt really well thought out and were tons of fun to play. To bad the engine, the netcode etc were so completely terrible.
How do you guys both have such awful tastes?
>tfw you had a character you played for months when the game came out, then deleted him and quit for a few years because
>came back to the game later
>all new characters share his last name and are headcanon daughters born from his womanizing adventures across Tyria
Fuck you /v/, you make me want to install Guild Wars for the first time in 5 years, and yet all I know is that the pain will be too much.
Arenanet broke me like no other company besides Jagex. RIP in pieces Runescape and Guild Wars. Those are the two games I would kill to have back to the way they were.
My ranger will be 8 years old in a few months, and my runescape main is 12. ;_;
If we're going edgy tier...
rotscale is a pretty cool dude that doesn't afraid of anything
>First played GW
>Wanted to make my character gender appropriate
>Male Combat classes, Female Rangers, etc.
>Come back to this game years later
>Just want to recreate all my professions as female characters for that maximum dress up simulator
I've lost my way.
Also, my favorite Necromancer set.
4 people at Embark Beach International District so far
5th one on his way
Come join us /v/ bros for some good old fun
Great game, really miss running Droks for noobs who needed armour.
>ranger master race
Best warrior set right here. I barely even played this guy but when my shitty faggot alliance called for a meeting of leaders and officers, I made sure everyone in my guild who rocked up did so in this exact set
You guys realize GW1 is pretty alive again right? At peak hours you can't get into Kamadan D1 and D2 on weekends for your life
One reason GW1 > GW2 is that it's so stupidly cheap to get a set of functional gear with whatever stats you want. The rest is just cosmetic.
>Online play (4-player co-op)
Ghoul Patroldoesn't exist to mar the original anymore
>Constant new stages/enemies/items monthly
Fucking perfect. Thank you, OP.
I think it's because I never felt like I was underpowered or at a disadvantage that I liked the game so much. In GW2 I know that even though my character is level 80, I'm not using max stats gear, and to get the gear I want it's gonna be a long ass grind, so I can't be fucked doing it.
9 people so far
Come on guys, we're gonna kick Urgoz / The deep ass in HM
I think I had one character of every profession. I never deleted anyone because I wanted those birthday presents
My 2 main characters were elementalist and ritualist. I also had a warrior, monk, ranger and necromancer in case I had to fill a different role in some elite dungeon.
I played 4000 hours of this game, a lot of it with my brother, who I co-ran a guild with. We'd stay up until 4am playing with our american buddies and then go to sleep, wake up at midday and start all over again, working in the evenings.
My brother mained a monk and was so good with it that he sometimes ran a hybrid bonder/prot/healer build, serving 3 roles instead of 1. We both made our Monks together and made them identical. Same with our warriors.
At some point our alliance was dying, people playing less and less. We wanted the alliance leader to get a couple of tiny guilds to merge together so we could merge with another alliance. Some stuck-up bitch from a 4-person guild refused to merge, and the deal fell through. That was the beginning of the end for our guild
The game wasn't about min maxing gear. It was basically to just have fun playing the game with the tools that were given to you. It's what I love about GW1 so much that GW2 and many other MMOs fail to replicate.
As I always said, farming was a choice, not a necessity in this game.
We told the alliance leader to shove it and left, drifting between a few alliances, none of which were very active. Unfortunately because we didn't go in for much pvp stuff or getting super-involved in a forum we weren't welcome in any of the bigger ones. After a while everyone in the guild just kind of stopped playing. I think that we all kept playing just because the guild was a bunch of good friends, and so when we got less active people didn't want to play as much, and it just got worse from there
bow down to my superior armor choice :^)
Also, whats the most ecto you've ever had? I dont think I've had more than 150 despite logging like 5k hours
I did exactly the same. And then my fucking account got hacked and they salvaged my armor, like a week before anet introduced the backup system that would have let them restore my shit
>tfw you don't remember the name of any of your old characters..
>tfs you're not even 100% sure of the password or even which of my emailadresses it's tied to.
Sent an email to support in the hail mary chance that they'll give me the name of one of my character so I can at least trial and error my email/password.
We were pretty great while we lasted. I guess what really made GW1 great was the people
>The memories of running through canta for the first time
>The sensation of finally leaving the fucking city full of abominations and reaching the forest/jade sea
My fucking god I will never forget these feels
That rag tag group of /v/ users nearly beat Ugroz but we kinda screwed ourselves by rushing into the final area and overaggroing everything
Plus that one faggot running ahead and aggroing everything all the time
I was that faggot It was fun
I basically have three different options as far as email goes, and I said I wasn't sure which was tied to the account, but I listed all three of them so they can see I actually have the email as well.
I have... somewhat an opposite experience.
I played GW1 a lot by it wasn't with people most of the time although I did end up joining and making random groups for PvP.
Ultimately the game was good but it needed people to sustain for much longer. By 2000 hours I didn't see much reason to play for any longer after attaining many of my goals such as armour and weapon collections.
Well I guess different things drive us. I only spent so much time in the game because I had so many friends in it, RL and people we met along the way.
I definitely enjoyed build crafting. Our guild pioneered a lot of the builds that we ran with. If GW2 didn't make the retarded decision to hamstring character builds I'd have been a lot happier. Fucking weapon skills, goddamn bullshit. I made builds that used the whole damn bar for a crazy nuking chain and they go and strip everything down to pre-made combos plus a few long-recharge utilities.
I think I'm out of screenshots now. I remember having a lot more, but they've all gone away somewhere.
Good luck on your run, guys
This, lets say around 1998-99 when a lot of the bugs and house break ins were fixed. Also, I don't want upgraded graphics, I would only want the original client to be able to go full screen.
I used that when I started playing in the early days of GW. Those days were really fun, before all the elite skills were really known and people still fucked around with various builds instead of whatever the meta was.
On my very first character, a ranger, i remember running a Health degen build involcing Poison Arrow and some preparations. At least until I got Barrage and moved onto Barrage spam.
Yeah, once you left Shing Jea Island it was definitely a twist on your typical Asian region in any sort of mmo or rpg.
I fucking loved exploring the Jade Sea area and the Petrified Forest.
I hope we never see a Kaineng City in gaming, ever again.
