Besides the name, this game looks fair.
>Revamping Arena FPS
Sounds like simple fun.
I'm cautiously optimistic.
>Get exactly what I expected
Holy shit, devs. Change the name before it's too late.
Also remove the bloom, shit. Arena shooters need a clean aesthetic.
>Cawadoody popularity on the downfall
I promised myself I wouldn't get excited over video games ever again
I can't believe you faggots.
This is exactly what you mustard rice assholes want, and instead you bitch and fucking moan about it. You're looking for a reason to dislike it.
>12 year old EDGY name
So fucking what. What the fuck was QUAKE anyways?
Game looks like fun. I'd play it.
Quake is a much better name than ToXikk vKUSHv
I'm not saying it isn't anon.
I'm saying It's still pretty shit.
No, but really. Toxic is fine. Toxik is getting edgy, but still okay.
How about Fraggot?
Why does /v/ fall in love with shit like this?
Its going to die just like rise of the triad did.
When warsow/quake live get released on steam, thats basically the only chance of arena fps reviving any time soon.
(Both Warsow and Quake Live will be released on steam very soon.)
Is it me or does this look like UT2K4 with a new coat of paint?
That one map looked like ONS-ArcticStronghold and even had vehicles which looked just like the scorpion, raptor and mantis.
You're persistent, I'll give you that.
>multiple arena FPSes at once
>professional scene is revived
>MOBA-playing faggots jump on the bandwagon like the sheep they are
>streams actually become worth watching
Looks good, especially the "no F2P" shit. Thank fuck for that.
I just hope they have more weapons other than pistol, assault rifle, rocket launcher, and nuke. If they do it right, each additional weapon could be a game changer. They need the weapon variety and they need to do it right.
>People think the Arena FPS genre is dead
The reason no new Arena FPS games are made is because the genre has been near perfected with long established franchises like UT, Quake and to some extent CounterStrike.
It is near impossible to establish a new franchise in this genre because these games have pretty much defined it. There are still full servers in UT99, UT2k4, and Quake3. Not to mention Quake Live and UT4 coming out soon.
Be unique from UT99,2k4 and q3.
Also fix the lighting. Bloom, glare and all that fancy shit just gets in the way.
Look at ut2k4 and quake 3. The lighting is very crisp and everything is visually defined.
This helps the game develop its competitive edge.
Pic related is a bad example. Also pic related was a game that cost money and now its dead as fuck.
Its okay in the mindless fun department. I actually liked the design of the maps.
The game did a lot of things right, just not lighting and autoaiming.
Frankly for everything it promises it looks nothing like old school shit, and it doesn't look unique either. Looks like about half a dozen other games just like it with a half assed "We are not like those other games" coat of paint hastily slapped over it.
I am not interested in this shit at all, and that's not just because I can play my old arena shooters any time I want and they will probably be more populated than this game will be a month after release, but because it doesn't look like it brings a single thing new to the table.
>O-ok... I'm good.
>P-please, I'm good...
I never thought I'd see the day where there would be TOO MANY arena shooters again.
Even Nintendo knew arena FPS is coming back
It's a conspiracy
>mfw this whole ASSFAGGOTS fad was pushed solely to make Arena shooters look better by comparison to kids who never played them
>It's always been there on its own.
That doesn't make sense, it was actually greenlit I fucking voted for it.
>And don't be so deluded to think that giving it a bit more publicity will suddenly make it popular.
It will see more growth, guaranteed go check their website right now there is probably around 20-40 players on right now. It will see growth because its a good game, its
fun______and it requires a fair amount of skill.
k, let's just get angry about nothing.
anyway.. I like reloading because two people shooting at eachother will have to stop soon.
Just having to get ammo isn't really the same.
>k, let's just get angry about nothing.
What the fuck retard forum do you come from?
>anyway.. I like reloading because two people shooting at eachother will have to stop soon.
>Just having to get ammo isn't really the same.
>MORE THAN ONE PERSON CAN'T POSSIBLY DISAGREE WITH MY ILL-INFORMED OPINION
>rise of the triad
God dammit man, I'm still not over it.
Looks like it could be good.
I enjoyed UTK2004.
I enjoyed Halo 1-3.
I enjoyed Quake.
I might enjoy this, depending on the balance and speed.
Movement speed seems kinda low, but I can get used to that I suppose.
No you don't.
That first thread was me last night. The second one was me about an hour ago, I didn't see this thread before posting it, if I had seen this thread I wouldn't of posted it.
Enjoy your paranoid shill delusions though faggot.
>just copypasting UT2004 with new graphics
They don't have the balls to do anything new with the genre, they just want nostalgia gaymur cred for going back to their roots.
God that game is so bad it made me angry. They hyped up this big return to arena FPSes and it turned out they knew butt fuck all about them. Almost every single decision that went into this game, from the art design, to the movement mechanics, to the weapons, to the powerups, was a bad one.
>spewing a pile of shit out of your mouth
Hey, they're the ones who did it first. The fact that they're just trying to sell it on nostalgia is a bad sign, if they had any respect for the genre or the people who were going to buy their game, they would just present it as it is, but they gotta masquerade that shit behind mocking CoD? That's just weak as fuck.
Since arena FPS got old enough to classify as ~nostalgia~ all these guys appeared in the same time period.
>cliffyb making pc shooter (probably going to be arena-like) "Bluestreak" I think
>Other indies I forgot
And my arena FPS liking friends will still just bitch and complain if the physics don't perfectly represent some other shooter. Hoping at least one of these makes them happy, I guess.
I dunno, new movement mechanics, radically new types of weapons, maybe some interesting new game modes that aren't just the standard TDM/CTF/KOTH fare? I mean ask that to someone who played Doom when it came out and you would've gotten Quake. Ask that to someone who played Quake and you would've gotten Unreal. Ask that to someone who played Unreal and you would've gotten Tribes. There actually was a progression to the genre that halted as soon as CoD caught on.
Nah, they were still making arena FPSes when Halo was a thing, I mean Halo itself was an arena FPS, albeit a slower one with regen health, but it brought bigger maps and vehicles into the equation so it all evens out.
It brings new problematics that developers may not handle well. Look at Strike vector for example, it's kinda neat, but it also has wildly unbalanced weapons, maps that make a bunch of them useless and too few of them.
How did I admit it?
I made a thread about a game I want to talk about. One thread was made yesterday and another one today which I wouldn't of posted if I saw this one first.
Fucking idots like you should be killed at birth.
>slow as fuck movement when in combat
You need fast movement when in combat, this is what tribes ascend failed at. When you were actually fighting people, you weren't going fast at all.
And there you go. Some of the pros still know what's up, they don't care as much about sticking to genre conventions because they helped invent them after all. Indies seem to be on this mission to prove themselves and make something that fits into an idealized mold, they're ironically innovating less than the AAA and AA devs right now.
>How did I admit it?
Well you said this:
>I made a thread about a game I want to talk about. One thread was made yesterday and another one today which I wouldn't of posted if I saw this one first.
Now I'm not a professional detective or anything but that looks suspiciously like proof that you were the one making these topics shilling Toxikk
Normally, I'd agree with you, but I'm not sure it works like that on consoles. You don't have m+kb controls there.
I'm just happy somebody is trying something new.
With cute lolis.
I don't think it's *that* bad that they don't really innovate. UT2k4 was a successful formula and if they manage to make a new and polished version of it, I'd be more than happy to play it.
Let's just hope they don't fuck up like Nexuiz.
I'm fine with iteration and refinement, I just think it's a shame the way people seem to lose their shit over retreads like this. It happened with Nexuiz, it happened with Rise of the Triad, it happened with that other shitty remake I can't remember. It's this endless cycle of "FUCK THE SYSTEM, WE'RE GOING BACK TO OUR ROOTS"
No I don't think you understand how this board works, newfriend. It's not 2007 anymore.
Nowadays on /v/ you either post about Dark Souls, shit on a game or accuse someone of shilling if they post about an indie game.
You go to /vg/ or /vr/ if you want anything resembling actual video game discussion. /v/ is now a containment board
>Arena is some stupid selling gimmick
This always pisses me off when people do this. It TOTALLY worked with Hard Reset, Bulletstorm and Painkiller. All you need to do is make an arena shooter is have a health system, and weapons you pick up instead of load outs. That's it, those are the only requirements.
It's funny how /vg/ was made to contain the cancerous league and sc2 generals (monster hunter general wasn't really cancerous but there were way too fucking many) and yet now there's more vidya discussion there than here.
>now there's more vidya discussion there than here
That was only true for like the first week /vg/ was around.
There is but man some generals are just awful. Some MMO generals are just ERP bullshit.
I think /vg/ is a great idea but of course an extra board doesn't make already cancerous generals any less so.
I wanted to like it, I really did. I fucking pre-ordered it for Christ's sake. But it's just an unoptimized fucking mess. It's dead aside from the ten or something people that play on Fridays.
After checking out their website and their earlier projects, I can't get hyped for this.
This is basically a rip-off of UT2004, just with "prettier" and less clean graphics - something that's horrible for competitive FPS games. I hope they at least let you turn on potato mode in the settings.
Also, their earlier games were mediocre or shitty MMOs. I'm not sure they even know how to make a good and successful game.
>no regenerating health
This is a good thing?
This hilariously shows the current state of the gaming market so perfectly. I couldn't stop laughing at the fact that it's selling points were all removed features. Also the fact that something NOT being free to play is a good thing really is fucked.
You've been living under a rock for how long?
No regen health means you will have to move faster instead of sitting on your ass. Not f2p means no extra shit sold to you and your enemies for extra money. You pay and you fucking play and it's great.
The "features" it removed are all considered casualized cancer anyways, pretty much everything that's F2P is shit and fuck all the leveling nonsense in EVERY game now. Also if you like regenerating health then you're a gigantic pleb casual.
Those comments are so cancerous it makes me ashamed to like UT. I seriously hope you fags don't do shit like this outside of this shithole.
"Gaming" is now and has been for quite some time Business. And business copies whatever sells. So it's logical. The thing that gaming used to be 10 years can be found where nowadays? I play mostly single-player games for the aesthetics and gameplay/game design, and some are truly gems, though short. I guess true single-player games are the only ones that may remind people of what we used to have.
Regenerating health promotes camping, which slows the game down. Having to move around the map to pick up healthpacks promotes a faster pace to the game.
You damn dirty casual.
>S-SONY SHILL! THAT'LL SHOW YOU!
>People actually saw this comment and didn't automatically call him a faggot.
What's wrong with having health pickups? Maybe you should git gud instead of blaming mechanics that are too hard for you to understand.
You're a fucking retard if you think regenerating health is anything but the most simple, dumbed down casual shit in existence.
>What's wrong with regenerating health?
Because you can just run off and let your health regenerate and keep doing it all game.
With no regen people can't run off and let it regenerate.
That's sadly, partially true. Very few of these payed multiplayer games last long. If it isn't a long standing franchise like CS, it's fucked.
Even Call of Duty is losing PC notability which is why they are thinking about bringing CoD Online over here. This shitty game is full of retarded gimmicks and buzzwords.
Oh shit, it's an FPS from the Neocron and Black Prophecy guys. Interesting.
Might actually check it out but it's likely to have glaring technical issues - they were never good at that.
I doubt it'll go far, people don't want arena shooters these days. This whole product is marketed at a demographic no longer in the market for gaming. f2p works because the kids gobble it up, they'd never buy an arena shooter to play it.
>Even for an arena shooter it looks meh.
You haven't even seen much of it, plus it is pre alpha and not the finished game.
Why don't you wait till you have seen full gameplay videos instead of talking crap about something you know next to nothing about?
Oh wait, this is /v/.
>I've seen just as much of reflex and can tell you it's a better game
Ok lol, you have seen like 20secs of pre alpha gameplay from this game. Stop talking out of your ass anon.
>Basically just fast Halo
>Not even an Unreal Tournament clone, it actually looks like Halo on speed
>That damage control and denial in the comments when normalfags bring it up
>Then shitting on perks, which are just power ups
I don't understand Arenafags. If they don't like how a lot of shooters are, that's fine, but they act like their genre is the ONLY standard that should exist. Maybe they are mad because they can't git gud at what they claim is "easy," or they are just 90's kids.
He said the trailer and the gameplay in it is meh, and that's a valid criticism since the trailer focuses on buzzwords more than said gameplay. Get your head out of the gutter anon.
>competitive multiplayer indie fps
>surviving longer than a week
Pick two. This game is definitely going to be DOA. Especially with Quake Live which is f2p and UT4 which will be f2p, everyone will forget about this game after its first week.
No I am just bored of arguing with idiots.
I'll wait till I have seen full gameplay and then decide whether it is good or not.
But you carry on hating on things to try and look cool and edgy, i'm sure the other 12 year old edge masters will suck your dick and worship you for being edgy on an anonymous image board.
Considering what I have to go on is footage that makes the game look average at best yeah I think I'll continue saying it looks stupid until they show me something better, until then keep being a mad faggot without any actual arguments.
Because they pale in comparison to Quakeworld and CPM? and I could master the movement in 15 minutes alone.
Also the amount of people that think QL is a good game on here is funny.
Lack of depth in mechanics and movement?
Terrible artsyles that hinder gameplay?
Rewarding hitscan weaponry and stationary battles?
Its sad that a mod for a game released in 1999 is the standard for competitive arena fps. It took me 3 years to get proficient in CPM movement and I'm still learning and only considered average. I'll still be playing in 10 years and so will other players. The same isn't true for all these cash grab so called arena shooters. I should say that this game looks like mindless fun and I'll play it, I just disagree with them referring to it as arena fps.
Why is QL bad though? From that list the only thing QW/CPM has over it is more depth in movement. Not mechanics though, I think instant weapon switch actually detracts from the skill ceiling though as it makes weapon selection less crucial and makes the outcome of fights more random as you can just switch to rocket or rail when you are about to die.
No it won't. It doesn't have any core gameplay. For instance how do you make a map for a game with unlimited amounts of physics and rule sets? The game and subsequently the community will be too far split up. It already is of you frequent the forums.
>Lack of depth in mechanics and movement?
Confirmed for never playing a lot of modern shooters
Confirmed for being BR
Where do I even begin with this one... firstly, WHAT? Input is dependant on YOUR end, not the games.
>Terrible artsyles that hinder gameplay?
Subjective, also, how is that even a valid point?
>Rewarding hitscan weaponry and stationary battles?
>Arena shooters don't have hitscan
>A strategy in stationary combat is bad due to your imcompetense
You're a fucking idiot.
"no f2p" is going to kill this right from the start.
Every multiplayer game lives from the amount of pepole playing it and they made that one business choice that will cost them an influx of fresh players. It's going to be Nexuiz all over again.
Quake live, not only is it a abomination of quake 3 with a retarded business model (paying for maps I could get free on worldspawn, really?) Its also a solved game and has been for a long time. The skill ceiling was reached years ago. The netcode is really shit and so is the input which I can only assume is because of the way they handled the game being a browser plugin.
CPM not only has movement going for it, but superior netcode and mechanics like the armour system and spawn system. The weapon switch argument is stupid and I'll informed, the weapon switch in CPM is instant but reload times still apply, if you fire the wrong weapon you are still punished. Coupled with the movement the instant weapon switch rewards the fastest most skilled players, having delay simply slows the game down and lowers the skill ceiling. Fights in CPM are about projectiles not hitscan weapons.
Do you or do you not live in BRland with a shit PC? Nothing you said about Quake Live outside of paid maps is accurate. You only run into those problems if your hardware is bad.
I've been playing fps for a long time. I'm not BR I just have standards for a competitive game. Do you not understand how input and netcode work? Its engine dependant. Do you even know what hitscan means?
So much of your post is I'll informed and wrong, you should read up on some of the stuff you commented on
He was right about movement mechanics, he was right about netcode inferiority of just just about every other game on the market, he was right about inputs, which that anon didn't even understand and shows he shouldn't even be commenting on the topic, a simple artstyle is needed in a fast paced competitive shooter complexity in the artstyle just cause visual clutter and confusion.
>Saying games are too slow
>Both of the big slow FPS games, Call of Duty and Battlefield, run on superior engines with very very good input times
>Especially Call of Duty which is literally just Quake modified
You CANNOT be any more ignorant even if you tried.
Standing in front of each other and wiggling from side to side I find very boring. Because of the weapon switch delay you are literally forced to LG until the death. Boring and slow.
You just have low standards anon. Quake live is a good game in comparison to most games but when you compare it to CPM it falls short on a lot of things.
>Doesn't even state why
There is multiple forks of the quake 3 engine, stop generalizing. Some of them bad some of them good. All of the call of duty games up to black ops had fairly untouched netcode (excluding mw2 and 3) and input.
Dice engine games have a lot of interp and don't have true raw one to one mouse input.
You can't fix them with a better PC, if you think this you don't understand how they work. If you don't even play them, you can't possibly understand it because it's something you have to feel.
QuakeLive can be played at 120 fps on a toaster, it has nothing to do with hardware.
This is why quake live is a slow and boring game. Its solved and it literally comes down to aim 99% of the time in LG duels. What's fun about that? I like to go fast.
My hardware is fine, when I started playing quake live the game felt fine to me, it wasn't until I moved on to quake 3 that I realized how poor quake live and other games are.
Yes, two frag movies got released last week and I just got back from a small CPM lan gathering. We're hoping reflex will bring more players since it will solve the issue of the game being difficult to introduce players to.
The community has always been small due to the lack of money in it.
CPM spoiled me as a fps player and now I have standards so high that its ruined most games for me.
I'd love for quake live to be good but the player base is knows so little about their game that's its impossible to discuss with them.
I agree the netcode isn't perfect but the input does feel perfect to me for both mouse and movement.
And the netcode is still much better than most other FPS games since it's server-side
You are half right. The genre was never really that popular, it just seems that way because of how big other fps games are these days.
But that's okay, as long as another person is still playing I'll still be playing.
We're not disagreeing with you that it has better netcode than most games, but it does suffer from being a browser based game, they had to the amount of inputs in a given time because of it.
Go play QuakeLive for a week then try the other for a week, and then come back to QuakeLive, you'll notice the difference.
Like I said, it really isn't noticeable until you play something better. It really doesn't matter as much because VQL is a slower, less demanding game. My point is it still falls short of a standard that a mod much older set. Which I think is unacceptable for a game with a steep payment model.
QL is still a superior game compared to most FPs games but that actually just makes me sad and reflects the times.
Quake live is browser based. It runs off a modified version of the quake 3 engine for plugins.
>we are going standalone
You should know that by standalone they meant they were releasing their own custom browser that launches the game. Its still the exact same. Which always existed as quake live prism anyway, so by that definition quake live has been a standalone browser game for years. But that anon is right, the modifications they made to port it to plugins really causes issues for the game.
>Every element of the QUAKE LIVE experience, from finding and playing games to post match stats review and social networking are delivered through a single state-of-the-art website.
It's browser based.
It was nice talking about quake with you guys but I'm away out for lunch now.
>I'd love for quake live to be good but the player base is knows so little about their game that's its impossible to discuss with them.
id say most of the people that really know quake are in their 30s and getting on with life
short of a miracle its not going to happen the chance of a good Quake coming out again with ID a shadow of its former self is low to nonexistant , this terribly named game looks derivative in the extreme and there is a new Unreal in the pipeline to compete with it anyway.
The game I was talking about is Reflex, it's being made by a team of Quake/Unreal pros and the people who made CPM.
The only problem is their afraid of Zenimax coming after them claiming the game is too much like Quake. If Carmack was still there, he wouldn't care about people improving his code, he'd probably help fund it.
CSGO is ran by an incredibly large company and has a forced hyper-competitive queue structure while making at least partial attempts at harking back to the older competitive scene.
CSGO has also been put on sale a ton of times and has been sold at sub-$5.
Not to mention it had heavy competitive support from the very get-go.
toxikk has no name behind it, I've never even heard of the studio working on the title, it's selling at $15 and it's not going to have f2p to get players interested.
These kind of games do not last or do well unless they can either front a ton of cash for tournament support or get an immensely large player base behind it from the start.
you realize those moba playing fagots will bitch about being out-skilled and get shit dumbed down to cod levels.
>lel, enjoy your single official map and paying $0.99 for "community made" maps.
id pay a dollar or 2 for maps made by Vondur or CZG, Kell etc, many fan maps in Quake1,2,3 Ut99,2k4 were far superior to most if not all of the base sets.
its a good idea
they're releasing that for consoles, do you honestly think it is going to compare an actual arena shooter
old as the hills, anyone that would want in on it is in on it
see QL, plus this game is fucking dead
I'm cautious about the way they plan on handling custom content, but other than that it's fine
UT2k4 with a new coat of paint
Strike Vector > all
if it wasn't stillborn
tried it , has a respectable skill curve and nobody playing ~ I personally would have preferred a "vector mode" shooter over its current format, shame the game is dead (was dead the last time i looked)
>Ask that to someone who played Unreal and you would've gotten Tribes.
You realize Tribes 2 came out way before UT2K3? As far as Tribes goes it's got the most depth in the series.
don't you bring up ascend m8 i swer il fukkin deck ya.
I personally like the flight mode swapping, it allows some really agile movements in cramped spaces. I really wish they had a dedicated button for fast-rolling/side-dashing double tapping is never a good idea for controls like that.
anon, please, I just want to forget those days
the only improvement T:A had was smooth skiing, but I really liked the original voice acting and character models before they ruined the game.
CPM and vanilla QL are 2 different things. Claiming superiority over one is pointless since both are based on different styles.
CPM is more fast paced, aim oriented with a lot of focus on movement, vanilla is slower with more emphasis on tactics, strategy and well timed fights. Some people prefer fast fragging, some people prefer a slower tension built standoff before the first frag.
You can drop someone like rapha into CPM and hal_9000 or nzro would destroy him but put the latter into a VQL setting and rapha would easily outplay them so you can't really compare them.
I'm starting to think this is actually being shilled, and that MUH SKILLED ARENA FPS fags directly from /v/ are the target audience.
Like, I like the look of the game, but its promotional material and these threads look to me like there's a dev somewhere who browses /v/ part-time and decided he'd take everything /v/ hates in FPS and build a NO-game around it, and then shill it here.
AHHHHHHH I GET IT
>Number of Ks: 2
So that's why they chose le edgy name, surely
I don't want to think good or bad of it before I know more, but gotta correct you here
You can carry 9 weapons at once anon and there are no character-innate grenades, plus no regenerating health, thus not 2 of the major Halo features
>Powerups being the same as CoD perks
Powerups are on the map and you don't get to use them until you pick them up, also generally they stack and you lose them on death; perks are innate in your playing character and you can't have two opposite simultaneously
You really can't be this misinformed.
>The biggest selling point of this pile of shit is you have to play for it is you have to pay for it.
Holy fucking shit the jewery is high in this one.
Imagine a world where everyone who shitposted about a game was called a marketer.
I'm this guy >>256036331, I do think they might be shilling the game here but I still like the look of it and automatically assuming anyone who talks about a game is a marketer is a great way to kill a videogames imageboard.
Having to pay money is generally what you do in videogames anyway, and we all saw what happened with TF2 when it went F2P.
these guys picked a bad time to clone Ut2k4 with the next actual UT being worked on right now, and then charge for it . A paywall may keep the kiddies out but true arena style gameplay pushes casual & low skill players out anyway, dont get me wrong i dont want these guys to fail but they have some stiff competition ahead and only a modest sized audience to sell it too.
>but true arena style gameplay pushes casual & low skill players out anyway
I don't want to pay money obviously, but in games where I have before like TF2 where it went free-to-shit and full of kiddies like yourself.
This isn't me saying "yay I'm paying money", I buy the game and don't have to worry about it becoming F2P later on.
I got the Nexuiz vibe from this. It will be shit, arena FPS is dead because it didn't evolved as well as the other FPS games. Arena FPS will revive the day someone can modernize the genre just like COD4 did for console fps.
Trying to rehash the past, pasting shiny graphics and modern games elements on it will only leads to failure.
I played Quake live since it launched for a solid year or so, there were very few clueless players those that were either sharpened up or uninstalled, this was the case back in TFC , Rocket arena , QTF, Unreal 2k4 and as far back as Quake 1 . these games are not friendly to low investment players and they will go elsewhere for entertainment, part of the reason for their demise as a genre
>have always been what casuals play since they require very little skill and its easy to play.
That's what an Alpha is. A game with all the systems completed and in place, ready to be debugged and tested in its completed state. Beta is when you get mostly everything fixed, but are still looking for major overlooked bugs, and other minor ones.
Strike vector is a great concept but the Devs are retarded.
>arbitrary slider for mouse sensitivity
Literally can't set my sens correctly and if I remember correctly the console is disabled.
alpha is code complete
beta is content complete
this video is clearly a vertical slice, showing what theyve got and nothing more. it is entirely believable that this game is not code-complete.
CPM isn't aim based at all. You have it backwards, its more about control and movement. Aim isn't a huge deal, just look at players like Hal, Memphis and santile. They aren't the strongest aimers by a long shot and yet they are top ten in the world.
You can't compare CPM and VQL by comparing pros, that's just silly and "my dad is better than your dad" syndrome. However I can compare them based on skill ceiling, business model, features and balance and CPM just comes out on top. Its the more rewarding, in depth game. VQL and VQ3 are solved games. I'd love to see someone like rapha play CPM but he's a professional player who is motivated my money. Unlikely we'll ever see those show matches but I'd certainly watch them
And its a misconception that in CPM mind games, strategy and tactics aren't happening. Yes it isn't inherently obvious to a spectator, but ask any decent player like Ska for instance and he could walk you through a ten minute duel frame to frame explaining exactly what he was thinking, why he was doing what he was doing and everything else.
VQL is just slower. Nothing more is happening except more hitscan and locked fights where players can't switch weapon because they lose damage output if they do.
I wish body duplication were a thing so we could have 100 John Carmacks working on different games and projects, for different companies at the same time. Also 100 Kojimas so he can make all the other games he wants to make that aren't Metal Gear.
I don't think you can get sued for making a game too similar to another. Game mechanics are not patented. If they could patent that, no new games would be coming out.
>forgets about all the copycat games nowadays, ESPECIALLY shooters and MOBAS.
the "hardcoar gamer" crowd pandering is so obvious it hurts. this is just another bland UT knockoff.
I don't get it, are you angry because a game is pandering to the arena shooter nostalgia crowd? or because you like the casual games flooding the market? or because you like blops style of things? or mobile dungeon keeper?
So at first I thought someone on /v/ just discovered this game yesterday and posted it. But now that I've seen multiple threads on /v/ that look like ads as well as posts on many gaming sites this weekend about this game, I'm almost positive this is viral marketing.
They were called the Strogg, numbnuts. And you don't even fight aliens in the first game. I always assumed it was meant as a reference to "quaking in fear" or something like that, because the first game at least dealt with some creepy shit.
nice implying there, champ.
what im saying is, look at the trailer again. every selling point they show is just what you'd find in a normal, every-day arena shooter. nothing in that trailer is new or original, shit even the graphics look dated.
Why buy this game when you can play a dozen games that are already out that do the same thing, but most likely better and with more mod support?
>I'm almost positive this is viral marketing.
Lets see, a new game gets announced and everyone is interested in it and want to talk about it.
It gets posted on many gaming sites and /v/ and people discuss it.
No you are just a retard like all the other retards that cry viral marketing.
Nope. it's viral marketing. There has been a massive surge of advertising on gaming journalism sites, social media and now sites like 4chan with the same template.
Go peddle your pandering shit game elsewhere.

It sure will! i can't wait to play TOXXIKK at a wan party with all my g4mer buds.
so by this logic
the first of every genre is the only game we need for the rest of time
how is that wrong?
you were those "kids" playing UT/doom back in the day, except back then we didn't judge you, we fragged you
It looks much closer to Halo than to something like 2k4. 2k4 still functioned like an arena shooter. Yeah sure I want an arena shooter but the following is worrying me:
>That shitty name
>Homing rocket launcher
>"No Iron Sight Aiming" but 32 seconds to 34 seconds shows a completely unnecessary slight zoom
>On their home page, for beta testing if you pay 90 dollars you get what is called "Clan Admin Privileges" for the full release which allows users to set mutators, host servers, create private matches, etc. Nowhere is it stated that people who just straight up purchase the game will get this option
I don't want another Nexuiz. Please.
when your game does nothing to improve on the genre, theres no reason to play it over established games.
nothing in the trailer for coxxikk explained what its trying to do that is new or innovative. it just gave a list of things it doesn't have.
>proud "arena" fps
>majority of the video shows vehicles
fucking vehicles killed arena fps, not reloading or leveling dammit.
enjoy your dead-on-arrival game. someone explain me how the fuck can f2p be bad in 1v1 arena shooter with proper ladder/ranking system
Arena shooters are worse than CoD shooters when it comes to rehashing.
They are all LITERALLY the same game with the same weapons and features. And they are as barebones as possible so there's not even a gimmick to distinguish one from another.
