What's your opinion on this game?
I just finished it and I loved it. The gameplay was actually challenging and the story was filled with great characters. A really
I got the True Katherine ending and got my ass handed to me in Rapunzel. Overall I'd say a 9/10.
>Katherine sending you a picture of her feet while she's in the bath
catherine is one of my favorite games of all time
still need to go back and play other endings, hard mode and coop
I tried hard mode to start and its fucking hard to get the single solutions that will work
>there will never be a hangout in real life like The Stray Sheep where you can bro it up with your friends, eat pizzas, and drink rum and cokes while listening to advice from a grey-haired bar tender who wears white suits and sunglasses inside while listening to cool jazz/piano music and renditions of classical tunes
Great game. I was skeptical of the gameplay, but it worked surprisingly well. Some boss-stages felt a bit cheap, but overall a really rewarding game. Story was refreshing, too.
Man, a place like that would be so sweet. Just hang around every evening, get drunk and eat pizza.
Nigga you mad??
It's worth for the numerous endings and ever changing multimedia message photos alone!
>tfw you find out who that sheep angsting over his unrequited love for his best friend's girlfriend is
>King of Hell
One of these endings is not like the others
My favorite game of all time , i just played it a few months back for the first time.
>There was something about this game that just clicked and i loved it. The story was actually interesting as fuck
>Don't forget the actual funny humor that games lack
>If anyone can recommend me a game to play that i can get hooked into and just love it i will love you
I hated puzzle games too but this did it for me
>dat Music, Dat depressing Vincent, Dat humor , Dat ending
>liking niche Japanese games
>caring about graphics
"Enhanced port" is just the term for a port that adds more stuff.
I want extra Babel stages and endings. And I want it on the Vita so I can play it anywhere, any time.
It has everything /v/ loves.
Bros, puzzles, waifus, alcohol, and transexuals.
I got the most boring ending there was. Can't remember which one but it felt so fucking anticlimatic and then I watched the rest on youtube and holy shit the others are so much fucking better.
i liked my beta ending
One of the love interests is the stereo-type of a "strong independent woman". She bosses the main character around alot, and is constantly on him for things like not quiting smoking, earning enough money, like she wants him to.
The other is the stereo-type of a... slut, for lack of a better word. She asks very stupid and empty headed, but at least seems to know men well, since she consistently plays with the main characters head until they end up having sex in various kinky ways.
The main character himself is a bumbling idiot, has a moral compass but continually ignores it throughout the game, but is actually really good with logic puzzles and data.
All of this is presented in a comedic, exaggerated manner though, to show that they are MEANT to be stereo-typical.
If you still consider that sexist, then, yeah, Golgo 13.
my favorite game of the last 5 years, maybe even 10 years.
it had everything i love : challenging puzzles, multiple endings, qt girls (and guy), it was funny, it had good music, you get to drink with your bros.
nothing really like that game.
I believe you can only save a certain amount of people 2 i think , 3 if your lucky in one playthrough.
Thats why i got sad when i looked at the news in game and saw that certain people died because i spent my time talking to the old weird ass ladies
>So spend your time in the bar wisely and save who you want to save
>Also stay in the bar long enough each night and Catherine always stops by every night to check up on you
Eh, i got the degrees to open and manage a restaurant and im set that i'd like to make a place like Stray Sheep, but sadly i;ll have to compromise my vision to draw in a bigger crowd and make it to appeal to more casuals.
Thing is i lack the money and im scared as fuck to take out a loan and the place just doesnt make back its revenue
I liked the game so much because
I have a lot of experience with "side girls" in relationships and I know exactly how he feels and how hard it is to break off and manage everything
It made me really happy when I first played it because it almost felt like therapy or something
Never seen it, but I presume it presents men as pillars of action and violence, and women as minor objects that just act as things for the male main characters to protect and receive as rewards, like most manga from the 70s.
Same. Or well, I did buy Nier on it since the PS3 version is mongoloid expensive for some reason.
But are there any differences of the two versions?
Port wise I mean. I heard the game plays better with a DS3.
>stray sheep is a cozy chill as fuck place not some loud ass club with dubstep and bar bitches being skanks
>Boss is a pretty cool and likable guy
>those loading quotes were pretty nice of a touch
>all those sexes quotes about how men and women hate and love eachother
I try to get every day hero on all my runs, the reporter was a great character
Holy shit that sounds incredibly sexist. Bossing the guy around is not the strong independent woman trope, that's the nagging girlfriend/wife trope. Both of those characters sound like the extreme end of the spectrum meant to show that women are either sluts or nagging bitches while mean are the poor victims who are just bumbling their way through life.
That's pretty much Golgo 13 level but without a badass protagonist whose dick is god's gift to humanity. Although I guess it depends how tongue in cheek it is.
Golgo 13 is sexist because every woman in it is either the femme fatale, the woman in distress or a cardboard sex object meant to show how amazing and manly Golgo is. But by no means let that stop you from checking it out. Golgo 13 is unintentionally hilarious in the best of ways. Also pretty badass. I recommend Golgo 13: The Professional.
you can save everyone but you need a guide for that since the options are too subtle and well optional.
>What other game rewards you for the more you drink and get fucked up
>caring about sexism
I didn't realize I stumbled into reddit. It's a fucking work of fiction, get over it.
>Bought this expecting fan service and generally shit gameplay
>Got an awesome fucking game with the most chill soundtrack in years
why is this game so fucking based, honestly just a fun, fun game
Yeah. I like to think that Catherine has all the style and craft of a Persona game, but it's actually good.
I'd love to get into more of Atlus's stuff after playing this, but I'm just so turned off by all the highschool shit.
I've seen that edition for cheap at gamestop countless times. I'm content with just the game though, not a big collector dude. Everything just ends up collecting dust somewhere.
I wish more games had the atmosphere this game had. The characters, music and tone of the game were all amazing. By the end of the game, I felt like I knew the characters like they were my own friends. It's rare that a game does this for me.
Shit like that is pretty damn progressive and handled in a much better way than any queer indie game or bioware game have been able to do. Surprising considering Japan isn't the most homo-friendly place in the world.
yeah well SJWs will have you know that the only progressive way to include gays and women into video games is to have every single character either say I AM A PROUD GAY EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW IT AND THE DEVELOPERS DO NOT HATE ME
or I AM STRONG WOMAN WHO DON'T NEED NO MAN I CAN SAVE THE WORLD ON MY OWN NO MEN ALLOWED
KATHERINE CHEATED ON VINCENT WITH JOHNNY
FOR ALL YOU KNOW THE BABY COULD BE HIS
HAVE FUN PAYING FOR HIS BRAT KATHERINEFAGS, I'LL BE CHILLING WITH MY SUCCUBUS
If I remember correctly, on my 2nd walkthrough I paid more attention and got 3-4 references at the bar from conversations. Also the characters' faces when Toby was boasting his relationship with Erika.
Damn I fucking love this game.
Wasn't it heavily hinted at throughout the game? I never got Katherine's True Ending, but I think I picked it up. Or I read it on the internet, can't tell anymore.
>you will never get some random trivia from a cool smooth voice when you sip a drink.
To be fair that one dude fucking her did get grossed out when he discovered she used to be a he. But overall, she was treated very well and except for the virgin who couldn't handle a sexy tranny ass there was no fuss about her past. I liked it.
>tfw jake delhomme calls you about catherine and you start to think he may have meant katherine
fucking awesome story
How about you find out for yourself and
go with it no matter what you discover?
Maybe Erica tucked her dick away and got fucked in the ass and he thought it was weird how she was always crossing her legs as if she was hiding something. I guess we will never truly know.
head cannons and it makes the story better
Vincent's personality is uncomfortably familiar.
Atlus USA actually did a really great job of localizing the game with regards to the banter. Persona still has a lot of uncomfortable pauses due to the fact you control the speed of the conversation. Conversation feels very natural in Catherine, characters talk over each other and react immediately, even if it's just with verbal nonsense for a second or two before they can think of something to say.
>Persona still has a lot of uncomfortable pauses due to the fact you control the speed of the conversation
Wouldn't this be more of a general JRPG-style conversation box issue and less of a localization issue though?
Atlus USA is generally pretty decent at localizations imo.
The near-future setting of the game keeps fucking teasing me. You see all this shit like space tourism and artificial weather that never gets commented on.
Most video games spend an hour explaining all of this stuff to you these days because fuck mystery and subtlety.
Eh, I can see both sides of things.
From everything the game presents, I think Erica is post-op, and when he said it "felt weird", he was talking about her artificial vagina.
Either way, he was putting his dick into a gash in the flesh of an attractive person, so logically, he shouldn't have had a problem with learning said gash was artificial. In that case, him not liking the fact that it was artificial could be viewed as transphobic.
But, people don't always act perfectly logical, as I'm sure we all know. It's only natural to feel surprised or betrayed when you learn something you were lead to believe, especially something you consider important, was untrue. So, I don't think his anger at learning that he fucked an artificial pussy instead of a real one was inherently transphobic, just a natural response to being essentially lied to.
the SJW also think P4 is an evil game that represses Kanji's flaming homosexuality and Naoto is a repressed tranny.
also Yosuke is the voice of the developers because that helps their argument
>Vincent's personality is uncomfortably familiar.
I thought Vincent was really spineless, but then again I neither have a long-term gf nor a girl I could cheat on her with. I could sympathize with his drinking problem, though.
There needs to be more Catherine fanart.
yeah I bought mom's old house but since I don't have a gf yet I'm renting it so it's basically paying itself.
I start my Master's next year and work around 53 hours a week so I wouldn't say I'm a lost cause.
Nah, just talk to everyone at the bar, and in between levels. Don't be a shitter and you should be able to save everyone.
Katherine isn't a bossy nag, she really cares about the slacker MC and wants to provide structure for him. It's just that he's feeling pressured, so it seems like she's pushing too hard. She's being motherly, and trying to improve his life, but he's not communicating that he's feeling pressured, so she doesn't know.
A mutilated gash isn't a vagina and that wasn't a girl
Fucking PC society has gotten people so afraid of offending people that real mental illnesses like that are promoted
Sure argue the gay thing there is something there but trannys are mentally ill no argument against it
This. It's not hard to talk to everyone in the bar at all, just talk to them twice in the order they appear. The only thing that might mess up is you have to give certain responses.
I never realized that before.
Jonny, Toby and Orlando would've seen a version of Catherine too.
They just forgot about her after the Nightmares ended, because Vincent reached the top of the Cathedral.
The only reason Vincent remembers is BECAUSE he was the one who reached the top.
>Got the Katherine (Bad) ending
>don't feel like replaying
I had fun with it when I did play it though.
>my top five games in general are from this (technically last gen, because PS4 and co) gen
Am I seriously the only person on this board who -even though he can admit that company policies and additional content have degraded over time- thinks that games, at their core, have improved over time?
This list isn't definitive for me or anything, it's just what occurred to me when I was throwing it together.
I can sleep better, knowing I'm not alone. You have noice taste, as well.
My top five of all time are:
2. Gravity Rush
3. Portal 2
4. Mass Effect 2
5. Batman: Arkham City
The stock phrase of it being the "Portstation Vita" is largely true, but what little original games there are, are all amazing, as shown by Gravity Rush shooting up my favourite games list, despite me only having played it less than a year ago.
And, the Vita ports are always the definitive, canon versions of games, so it's great to be able to play them instead of having to settle for the outdated, inferior versions on PSP/2/3.
The music, art, the universe, the lore, the combat, the characters...
It's on a portable console, yet it gives me more excitement and breaths of fresh air than any of the big-name home console games have given me in years.
You can literallt get a 34GB memory card for less than $20 now.
I got one back in 2012 for $40, and it's lasted me ever since. I've downloaded so many Vita, PSP and PS1 games, and still have a good 7GB left.
I don't see the big complaints about Vita memory card prices, They were only uber expensive when the console came out, and the bigger size ones can store ridiculous amounts of games.
And, I counted.
>9 PS1 games
>8 PSP games
>6 Vita games
That, plus the core memory and functions, and a few hundred saved pictures, only takes up just over 27GB.
The guy was saying that natural and artificial pussies are logically the same, when it comes to pure fucking, but it's only natural to feel betrayed when you're told that you fucked an artificial one, when you were told it was real.
Regardless of sexuality, if you were lied to by the person who you trusted to take your virginity, you're gonna get mad.
