Ask the publishers, not the devs.

You'll get your plump, slutty bitches, and you'll be PROUD of it.
For what it's worth, the games do quite well over here. It's just the Japanese sales are terrible. The only reason we got VLR was because of popularity of 999 in America.
Anybody else felt really offended by the game's forced explanations of extremely basic things?
Like there's suddenly a shoved 5 minute explanation of very basic logic. The publisher obviously felt like the average player would be retarded as fuck
When you first played 999 and the story mentioned that there were
two facilities where the Nonary Game was played, how many of you immediately figured out you weren't actually on the ship?
>not a slut.png

She does not. Its about body proportions, not just being flat chested.
Also: objectively best character coming through
God I loved the
library in 999. All the banter was so jolly
Is that the iOS version? How different is it from the DS version? I've heard that it doesn't have puzzles.
Have they fucked up the pixely art by smoothing it too much like in the Ace Attorney games on iOS?
>objectively second best character coming through
Fixed. Here's the picture you meant to post for what you wrote though. It's okay, we all make mistakes.
But I won't get to make choices.
>tfw no 3DS emulators
>tfw no vita emulators
I guess I'll just wait for a watered down iOS/Android port
I hardly use my DS lite so buying a 3DS wouldn't even make sense.
I'm only interested in Rhytm thief, maybe that digimon game that might or might not get localized and VLR
Is there a working flashcard for 3DS yet?
Wasn't it bricking 3DS at some point
Nothing's stopping me from getting a 3DS with a flashcard and pirating it.
Besides, I never said I was gonna pirate it. I just hate carrying physical 3DS games around (even though I really don't bring handhelds outside)
>Is there a working flashcard for 3DS yet?
I think Gateway works for 5.0 firmware or something like that. You'd need to buy a 3DS with outdated firmware, but they're likely to be VERY expensive.
Smealum "Muh homebrew" McPiracyisstealing is also working on a software crack, to be released soon. Someone will have to crack it and turn it into something that actually plays games, though. I hate moralfag hackers.
Honestly the graphics aren't badly done at all. I think it looks quite nice.
The lack of interactivity really hurts it though, the game as a whole is just better on the DS.
Also Junpei says it's a koi and not a funyarinpa which is a natural tragedy.
>Wasn't it bricking 3DS at some point
I think that were fake gateway cards, but they have a list of official partners who sell the original ones. I only played like 3 games so far but my 3DS is still working
That looks like a gift from god compared to the AA iOS port.
Regardless, it's pretty pointless considering you can just emulate 999----
Has anyone tried to use the resolution enhancing mod for DesMuMe on a 999 rom?
I probably have mild dementia/alzheimers. I'll be allright. Still gonna leave though.
Have a nice thread
Well yeah. It's referred to as such. Still disappointing though.
Aren't the puzzles themselves in 3D or am I misremembering things?
I really fucking need to replay 999.
You know, if 999 and VLR were PC visual novels, we probably would have gotten a third one.
The rooms are 3d, but they're all prerendered, like PS1 survival horror games. They were upressed in the iOS version.
If they were PC visual novels we wouldn't have gotten the twist.
VLR's last room was so much better
protagonists of ZE, ZE2 and ZE3 and nonary game veterans working together to solve the hardest puzzles

Guy with no 3DS/Vita here. Should I just get a 2DS? Does it have any cons aside from no 3D and being shaped like a piece of gouda cheese?

Have you had a chance to hold one? Some people don't like the ergonomics of it and think the plastic feels cheap, although I like it myself. Also note there's only one speaker so you're probably better off using headphones.

Your kind of pirate is the worst kind. Also just get it digital of the eShop if you don't like carrying cartridges around. It's not even that expensive.
They're the Free the Soul robes.
As for why Zero wears them, and makes Snake wear them, well, pic related.
It's available with a certain kind of emulator. I believe a modified DeSemuME gotten from a Japanese website. It only works on 3D games like Etrian Odyssey or Metroid Prime Hunters.
It takes a lot of processing power to run it in that high resolution so all it's good for is being a screenshot tool depending on your set up.
If only there was a kickstarter for ZE3. I remember Uchikoshi mentioning it on twitter and how kickstarter isn't available in japan.
Someone needs to hook him up with some NA people to get it going
>Being a in a ZE thread without having finished both ZE games

>Tfw when game developers like him are rare these days.

>"better imply they're children, that'll make me look smart"
Yeah, but I remember when these threads were nothing but spoilered out of courtesy. And that couldn't have been more than a year or two ago, people may still want to get into the games.
It really is.
I know a lot of you like it. For what it was, I can't deny it had me gripped in pure suspense the entire time I played. And I believe on that level, it's a fine piece of entertainment. But when it got to the end, I realized that the story simply wasn't going to play out in a satisfactory way. And that more questions will be raised, than those that are answered.
It was so hard to follow, that they had to put up a fucking novel length Q&A on their website, just to cover it all.
I'll have you know I made all three of my older brothers play both games.
My great shame is that I was unable to convince my friend to play 999 before VLR. He still liked VLR, but I know how much better it would've been.
I did, I'm pretty sure he hasn't played it yet, even though I told him there was a rom and everything.
I need better friends.
I remember that part, but I thought the only part he didn't read to the others said "Don't tell anyone about what happened hear 9 years ago." I mean, did it literally say
"make sure to mention Akane died?
To put it in a metaphor. The entire game was like a giant wank session. All of that suspense was like jerking off. And each ending was like edging further. Building, and building. By the time then ending comes, you're ready to shoot a massive load. Until you see what the ending actually is, and it ruins your orgasm. You fire like 2 shots, and dribble the rest. Terribly disappointed and blue balled.
At least that's how it felt for me.
>The story was filled with dozens of plotholes, but it was still clear.
I don't even know what to say to this.
The anticlimactic ending for Tenmyouji and Akane was really disappointing in VLR. I mean, I understand that he replaced her with Quark to a certain extent and so might not have been totally invested in her anymore, but still - they barely even talk.
The only 3D in the entire game is when youbare investigating items, you tard.
Here's my Brother theory. He's
Snakeand here's why I think so. >Left. In Japan, he's also known as Left. Left is spelled "Refuto" using katakana, since R and L are interchangeable.
>Snake's real name is Light, which is Raito in Japan. But Raito could also mean "Right".
>Left and Right
>Left and Light
This next part doesn't matter but I thought it was funny. The actual Japanese word for Left is Hidari, and the Japanese word for Light is Hikari. Refuto and Raito. Hidari and Hikdari. Also, I think the reason he's such an amazing esper is because he's blind and it makes his abilities stronger. Kind of like how losing a sense raising your other senses. I also think he uses the morphogenetic field to see, kind of like how Toph from Avatar can see with her feet.
And then there's the obvious one that people mention:
In VLR, Clover said Snake started playing the harp and he started to get culty followers, and the theory is that they're members of Free the Soul. Maybe they don't even know he's Brother, but they just get that same vibe from him, so they keep following him. And yeah, I know Brother is supposed to be old in both 2028 and 2074. I have a theory for that if you want to hear it. Sorry if these are stupid theories.
I did but 999 never got released here and VLR didn't have dual audio here and had game breaking bugs that never got fixed on the 3DS, so really I don't mind that people didn't buy a shitty product. Good games though.
Explain who Left is then. Why would Snake and Clover have another brother they never mention and why would Snake care more about him than Clover?
Basically, betraying is either a win/draw scenario. He'd never lose points and he could get out in as little as 2 games.
Of course if people wise up and betray him back, he'll never get anywhere. As for being a dick, he gotta do what he gotta do
>calling my waifu a slut
Nigger, do you want to die?
Oh right. Forgot to mention that.
In 999, a few of the characters mention that Snake and Clover don't look like siblings. You would think it was foreshadowing something even though it wasn't. Akane and Aoi don't look like siblings either, yet they never mentioned them not looking like it. I think the Snake/Clover scene was foreshadowing them turning out to not actually be siblings.
You can tell Uchikoshi already had a vague idea for VLR and ZE3 when making 999. There's the Free the Soul robe. In the 999 Q&A, he also mentions Seven got his scars from fighting a "particular organization" which he then revealed in VLR's Q&A was Free the Soul. He also said in the 999 Q&A that Akane and Aoi were on their way to plan a much larger scheme, and that 999 was basically the prologue. He also gave details of the sequel, assuming there would be one, mentioning how it would have a mostly new cast in a new location, with a bit of 999 thrown in. So he had this planned out.
As for their relation, I don't know. If I had to guess, since Left died and they didn't have parents, maybe Clover's family adopted him?
>not having finished the game
hold on a second nigga, you did what?
>I did but 999 never got released here
>VLR didn't have dual audio here
Hardly an issue
>had game breaking bugs that never got fixed on the 3DS
EShop. And otherwise the Vita.
So in other words you missed the whole point of the game, which is that the main characters are alternate-universe traveling psychics who use knowledge of other possible futures to help them survive?
Did you really not finish the game, even when you saw there were multiple endings? Because that sounds unreasonably retarded.
u ded fggt
That's what I've said before. I made a thread about it once, but it didn't get many replies. We should just tell Uchikoshi to open a Paypal or something and people donate whatever they can.
>Has anyone played through 999 more than once?
Do you mean just the true ending? Because you have to play the game multiple times anyway to get that for the first time. I replayed the Safe ending years after I first played it and I thought it was pretty good, however I remember hating the true ending of 999 on my first playthrough because it just seemed really jarring and stupid, so I don't know if that will hold up in your opinion.
>In 999, a few of the characters mention that Snake and Clover don't look like siblings. The one who brings up that Snake and Clover don't look alike is Junpei, and the person he discusses it with is Ace. Ace doesn't really know (because, well, face blindness) and tries to cover up by saying "there are a great many siblings who do not look like one another. It certainly isn't rare." I interpreted it as being foreshadowing for Akane and Santa not looking alike yet being siblings. No one brings that up because by the time that is revealed, there are bigger things to worry about really. Like not getting burnt to death.
>mfw submarine ending
>mfw this plays
Try and name a more bone chilling moment from the game.
> Dio lies cheats and steals his way out in multiple endings
> nobody stops him
> Sigma does it once
> everybody piles on him, chops off his arm, and escapes together (Dio included), leaving him to rot forever
Only ending to piss me off more was Alice showing up out of nowhere to kill me by betraying twice
That isn't fucking Yoko, it's some fat bitch with a Yoko wig on.
Fuck, I hate off-model Rule 34 so fucking much.
I think it's worth going through a second time, if only to see all the hints and foreshadowing you missed the first time.
There are quite a few hints to Ace's prosopagnosia, Santa involved with Cradle, Akane and Santa being siblings, etc.
>If only there was a kickstarter for ZE3
To be fair, doesn't kickstarter require that you reward your backers? Uchikoshi is a good story writer, but how could he reward people outside of backers getting the real ending, which would be plain stupid, or art by whatever artist did the art for the game, which couldn't really happen unless he was good friends with the artist?
>tfw legoman ruins another character that you like
We really should. How much money do you think we would have to raise though?
What can Kickstarter do what simply donating money won't? And can't we just combine both in a way?
Okay, if that's the case then why? Did you just stop caring or something?
>but how could he reward people
Uhh, are you serious?
>$20: download code for the game
>$40: physical game
>$60: game + artbook
>$80: game + artbook + ost
>$500: everything plus you can tour the office
>$2000: get to sleep with kinu
Its pretty easy to have reward tiers for games
>How much money do you think we would have to raise though?
Maybe we could ask him to give us an estimate. Or maybe the minimum amount he would need to make it happen.
Or... and this might sound a bit out there, what if there was someone out there trustworthy enough who could run the ZE3 Kickstarter themselves? Uchikoshi would tell them what to say/put on the page, and then the money would just be given directly to him.
>What can Kickstarter do what simply donating money won't?
Kickstarter is well known and has more appeal to the common person. There's no way something like Mighty No. 9 would've made as much if it wasn't on Kickstarter/Indiegogo.
Gainax had no clue what to do with her character after the time skip. She was Kamina's tsundere love interest and after
he died, she just started to fade out of the story.
After Episode 8, she was old and busted and pic related was the new hotness.
Does he even own those?
But Uchikoshi doesn't have an artist or a composer working with him, unless you mean the artbook and ost of the previous games.
Here's what Uchikoshi needs to do:
>"Hey fans! The minimum amount of money I would need in order to create ZE3 is $____"
>"I've set up a donation feature on my Paypal account that will go toward ZE3."
>"The money will always stay there until I get at least that much or more."
>People donate. Problem solved.
Optional: He gives details on what the game will have with that amount (2D or 3D, how many endings, how long is each ending, how many puzzles, etc.)
The kickstarter wouldn't be him completely alone pitching this. Do you not have any idea how kickstarter works? He would have a team of people potentially working with him with costs and shit planned out. That's how these initial kickstarter goals start out.
Well we could try what >>256658416 suggested and have some trustworthy no-name Western studio "work together", which is to say, let Uchikosi and his gang do what they do best while the westerners take a seat back.
as long as he can secure the same artist, I'd be cool with whatever he does
I just finished VLR last night. I don't know if it's just me, but I really felt like it wasn't as great as 999.
I mean, it was still really good, but something felt missing. The ending to VLR just felt worse than the ending to 999. I didn't get the same sense of excitement. The twists were just "huh okay" or stuff I had already figured out, instead of the "HOLY SHIT THIS IS AWESOME" feeling I got from the 999 twists.
Maybe it's just me.
Nah man, I think a lot of people feel you there, including me.
999 felt like the better game to me, I loved the characters in the game and the twists, it was a good adventure every time.
>read through VLR and enjoyed it, even if some of the parts were dumb
>go and watch Super Great Friend's LP of 999 and VLR
>literally takes the piss out of everything and ruins any sort of immersion/grip that the game had
why do people do this
I actually felt kind of the opposite. I mean, the twist at the end of 999 was awesome, but VLR just made me keep going "What the fuck, what the fuck."
Especially the part with
"Guys, what are you saying? Right here? Same face? "...Are you okay Mr. Sigma? Did you hit your head or something?Fuck that was amazing.
And the thing is, I already guessed that
Sigma was Zero, but I didn't think he was literally in Zero's body. I figured Zero just came to the past or some shit. So it still got me.
>watching an LP for a visual novel
How dumb are you?
Nah I thought VLR had the better twists and I'm calling bullshit if you figured them all out on your first playthrough unless you specifically looked at the gold files, in which case you ruined it for yourself. That being said I enjoyed 999 as a whole better.
I guess I just wanted to see how other people reacted to the game.
He was laughing all the way through Luna's Ending.
normally I don't like LPs other than ChipCheezum's videos. I was just curious, sorry.
>Maybe it's just me
No, it's you and practically everyone else.
I like VLR more because of the flowchart and the prisoner's dilemma always making my dick into diamonds, but 999 was better in most other aspects.
I know that, but I'm doubting if he can secure the same people that worked on the games so far, given the lack of profit the first two created. Unless those people would help right off the bat, I don't know if the kickstarter could be successful.
>laughing at Luna's ending
some men just want to watch the world burn
>laughing all the way through Luna's Ending
>literally takes the piss out of everything and ruins any sort of immersion/grip that the game had
Because you're watching an LP, faggot. They're there to entertain you with themselves, not to let the game entertain you.
Also to add to this, the only thing stopping a new game from being made is the publisher not giving the greenlight. Its likely most or all the people necessary for a sequel to be made is already on board.
That's thing about VLR and some VNs in general. I mean yes, it was really, really dumb sometimes, but for some reason I could ignore all that and still be engaged with the story. I mean shit, Danganronpa was dumber than rocks, but I was hooked to that thing too.
If 999 had VLRs branch tree (iOS version but that barely counts), voice acting, and an option in both games to switch between 2D and 3D depending on preference (VLRs ending aside obviously), it would be a great "HD" collection to make one final push for ZE3
>I mean yes, it was really, really dumb sometimes, but for some reason I could ignore all that and still be engaged with the story. I mean shit, Danganronpa was dumber than rocks,
Yes it was. I was actually getting into it but then the ending managed to be even dumber than the rest of the game to the point where I just completely stopped caring.
here you go
>Because the plot and characters are laughable. Also retarded.
That's fair, although I doubt that since Uchikoshi would have mentioned if he had support from the artist or composer at some point. If Uchikoshi had them backing him he probably would have done something more decisive by now, instead of leaving us hanging again.
i beat 999 last night
got all endings and decided to do true ending last
I wish Uchikoshi would keep us updated on what's going on, even if not much has happened yet.
We have no idea what's going on right now. Is he trying to get a Kickstarter ready? Is it already being planned out, with art and info of ZE3? Or has nothing happened yet, and he's just waiting to see what he can do?
Don't read the thread, don't read anything after this post, play VLR.
Why would he mention anything? There's no point. The game right now is dead. Why would he come out and say "oh hey, we have support from the artist and composer for this game that's non-existent and never being made"? It wouldn't make sense.
Also, how can he do something more decisive? Assuming he needs, say, $1m, there's no way he'd be able to just open up a paypal donation thing and get money. It might be possible with Kickstarter, but he can't get that going on his own and he barely speaks english.
There's no reason at all to assume the original staff wouldn't work on a potential sequel until something like a Kickstarter is made.
can't be any worse than the godawful 3d in VLR. I really wish they took a cue from Danganronpa and kept it all 2d, since Spike has some really nice artists in their roster.
>If it has no sense of pacing, a shitton of inept exposition, a story that relies on fantastic contrivances instead or actual plotting, infantilized girls and childish sexual innuendo, is 90% filler, and half that filler is based on tired old anime conversational tropes and stock phrases, it's weebshit
Glad we agree.
I love SGF but this kind of games aren't goot to be LPed. They take way too long, and after months of 2 hours of game 3 times a month you really can't get immersed, so no suspension of disbelief.
Plus stream chat is cancer and the best stuff he made are the completionist LPs where he takes his time to research the game.
Spoiler for off topic
Kickstarter exists for this very reason. They really need to get to it, a kickstarter for Zero Escape has a high chance of success.
Visual novels/pussle games are not as expensive to make as most other games.
They have prior experience with game making, and two other games in the series to prove its worth.
The basic work on ZE3 as a concept is done and presentable.
Most of the fanbase is western, and many played the game on their PC. A PC release would get a ton of backers.
>caring about Phi and Luna when Clover is in the game
you keep talking and you might get hurt
spreading those lies
Because it's a Sony exclusive.
For how well it's done (Sold well enough in Japan to get a ton of merch and an anime + at least two sequels and a spin-off), Sony would be insane to let it go to Nintendo.
seriously, she makes Lotus look like a well-adjusted person in comparison.
But I guess you couldn't make a honest judgement of how everyone really acted, since they were all retarded from the Radical-6 infection, minus Luna.
> Guys faces come in all sorts of shapes and sizes
> All the girls aside from one extreme example suffer from serious same-face
> It's the "style"
It's not like the West is innocent of this either though
Japs have shit taste. Just look at all the shitty weeb games that sell by the truckload.
I remember reading about how 999's gore and the detailed descriptions of it were a turn off for a lot of japanese.
