So was there anything remarkable about this game, other than the tits?
It's a good beat 'em up with some RPG stuff mixed in. I don't really remember anything about the story though.
its a pretty fun beat em up and couch coop game evn if it wasnt everything i wanted. characters all feel distinct to use. Kamitani's art is always nice. Vanillaware food porn. you fight the vorpal bunny from Monty Python as a boss.
the art is beautiful, the gameplay is fucking outstanding for 2d beat 'em up, completely outclassing shadows over mystara. all the classes play very differently and everything has its niche. the enemy types are varied and the bosses are pretty fun. for replayability, there's higher difficulties, a 100 floor endgame dungeon, and later a literally infinite dungeon with maximum overlevelled enemies
you mean you haven't played it? It's a pretty good brawler, art is amazing, mechanics are great, loot is addictive, and post game content is excellent too...sad thing is not a lot of people are going to hang around for that content...
Only downside is, it gets repetitive, it would benefit tons from DLC
>Haven't played wince the 1.02 update
>Get back into the game because friend picked it up from PS+
>All melee characters can now throw their weapons by holding a direction and pressing O
>MFW I keep throwing my hammer when I just want to position myself next to an enemy/boss and hammer smash
I think the reality is that all beat-em-ups are just that, boring.
However, I think Dragon Crown really stretched the genre as far as it could possibly go. The variety of characters, the cooperative elements in multiplayer, duels, and the ability to outfit your character. I think it was an excellent game. I got a solid 40+ hours out of it.
Not him, but I wouldn't say horrid. More like mediocre. I think the reason why they're not that great is because the art is so fucking detailed that it takes way too long to do practical animation on it.
SOR2, Final Fight 3, Aliens vs. Predator, Undercover Cops and Sengoku 3 are actually pretty legit because of the nice varied moveset everyone gets and how you can do a wide variety of combos.
It also helps that you don't lose your character in the background.
As beautiful as the artwork is, it's way too busy and gets pretty noisy when you have 4 player characters and then a shit ton of enemies flooding the screen.
-later difficulties add moves to enemies and bosses
its about the best you can get with the beat 'em up genre. the only other contender is streets of rage remake, but that is just a great base game without the extras dragon's crown has.
I hate this shit. I just wanna powersmash the god damn boss with my god damn poleaxe
It's okay. Sorta mediocre. It's not bad by any means, but it tends to get really fucking boring.
You really need a friend to play it with, otherwise the random online pairings and repetitive as fuck grinding quests will bore you to death.
The worst part is that this game isn't very lenient on your positioning. You have to be pretty fucking lined up in order for your attacks to even register. It's frustrating when you're use to twitching adjusting your position and then attacking as quick as possible
Only to realize that you threw your god damn hammer.
Also, is it me or did they make the fucking camera worse?
I swear to god, it zooms in way too much now. I've had the camera get stuck at edges of the stage and not letting me proceed to the next area unless my entire party and myself move back to unstick the camera and then move forward to proceed. That sounds fine if you have a party with friends you can communicate with, but when you play with randoms holy shit.
they dicked around with the camera like every patch, but yeah the most recent one makes it move like its lubed. its exceptionally hell if you have 4 players and fuckers are moving the pointer finger everywhere.
It's probably just the internet fucking with you. I've had the same issues as you.
A cool 2D Beat-em up, reminded me a lot to DnD Shadow over Mystara, but Double Dragon Neon is still 7th gen's best 2d Beat em up to me, shame that Dragon's Crown has one thing that DDNeon didn't had, Online bro-op
It has glorious story, characters, music and art. The gameplay is pretty basic beat em up and gets INSANELY repetitive, because you play essentially the same levels and bosses with all five characters. Also, it's pretty fucking hard at times.
it is definitely worth the play, especially if you like eastern twists on nordic lore. i'm too biased towards all of vanillaware's games to say which is better or worse. they're all really good
I haven't played with my friends in a while so I really can't say anything. I guess we can say that they did fuck up the camera. Damn
It was basically the spiritual successor to this.
I thought it was flawed but great. I've always been a huge fan of SoR 2, the old DnD arcade games and Guardian Heroes.
It's fun enough that I've got friends into it and we chill each Sat. to play. One plays as a black dwarf, W. Snipes, one an Amazon 'Bunhilda', 'Elfis' the Elf and I got stuck as the Sorceress 'Jugbeez'. Shops and skill trees are tedious as hell in multi, but the action is chaotic and great.
have you played since the updates? there's an option to turn arrows on that let you know where characters are in the melee
also this is the sexiest character select screen in existence
Oh, that's neat. Too bad the game's biggest flaw will never be fixed (its complete incompatibility with an arcade stick)
I mean come on, it's an arcade-style beat-em-up, and I can't use my delicious seimitsu stick to play it? It's mostly that damn Vita touchscreen shit to blame, too.
ditto, but getting there is a bit boring, I mean, the first ancient dragon grind is alright, the second is the tedious one, and the last one is cool since you can do all LoC...then there's ToM where shit gets pretty fun and actually challenging...love the new attack patterns and added dificulties to the bosses
>one hit kill all those annoying elites with extinction or w/e
>bigger credit to team that slutty sorceress with the food and shields trying to steal my warrior bro away from me
what does luck govern?
I just don't get how you accidentally throw it, I mean, it happened to me before I knew I COULD throw it, now I never throw it unless I mean to, what I do is do a double jump down attack and leave O button pressed, my amazon does it automatically, no room for error
picked it up on PS+ and have been playing it non stop, its not the best of its kind but goddamn I haven't felt this addicted to an arcade masher since Guardian Fucking Heroes
I wanted to play the whole thing offline, which is where I have my one irreconcilable complaint - from infernal difficulty on up, the flawed buddy AI can no longer keep up with the power creep. Below infernal, its the best anyone can expect - but past infernal, friendly AI will get fucking mauled by the upgraded bosses.
I know that the game was made for multiplayer, but as an offline game its pretty much a complete package. I like it enough to recommend it to someone who would be interested in arcade brawlers.
Cooking on the PS3 is awful and it's all because your cursor automatically goes up. It's even worse when you play and have a shitty connection
there are 8 stages, each with half the route the same, and an A and B split. it's roughly equivalent to 12 fully different stages, i suppose
>from infernal difficulty on up, the flawed buddy AI can no longer keep up
hire fighters and no one else
when you play with people you can get their character data, instead of random risen bones. so usually this means decent gear, multiple bags, and decent skill setup. and then yeah, just ai control
The Amazon looks fucking weird in that picture. I don't like it
>skin tight chain mail is no longer a thing
Only Japs seem to keep the D&D tradition alive. Dragon's Dogma has a lot of classid dd armors too.
Don't worry anon, I'll still shield you and provide you with snacks.
beastmaster and swashbucker/pirate DLC would be awesome. pretty sure they crammed all their ideas into the game already though. maybe we'll see some dlc a couple years down the road like muramasa
>Start co-oping with a friend as soon as online becomes available.
>I end up running out of money.
He seemed to have much more money than me to begin with, we bought all the exact same things in our separate playthroughs and gathered money the same way. I don't get it.
I think I died twice and then ressed one of the NPC members. I'm guessing that comes out of my pocket?
Everyone talks about being overwhelmed with money and I'm sitting here feeling like a casual. I'm doing well apart from money, I never died until I went online with my friend.
I'm pretty strict with identifying shit, I pretty much follow the same criteria you gave. I've seen my friend identifying shit, he mostly identifies C or higher.
I don't know where he's pulling this fucking dosh from.
Always underplayed in fan art, but she has some legs. Pretty much all the MC ladies in this game are awesome.
A pretty solid 2D beat em up with really well thought out mechanics and a fantastic setting.
Each dungeon feels unique and different from the last.
Its biggest strength and weakness is its sheer amount of content. It can get a little overwhelming at times and it has actually been the cause of me taking breaks from it, but at the same time you will probably never 100% it.
If you don't like or don't play beat em ups don't go out of your way to get it, but if you are interested it's worth your money.
Also, fuck writing runes.
>Vanillaware will never make a Habanero-tan game
you might be too early for that to be a thing. it might not be available until you do all the levels once, but after the gate breaks, you can do runs that don't end at the boss fight. you can keep going to the next stage, and the next, and every time you do so you get a little bonus multiplier to either loot quality, loot rank, money, or exp. these cap out at 200% money and xp, and i forget for the other two. this means that once you get that shit maxed you make mad dosh by continuing a run. having lots of bags of gear is necessary for that
Man, I have a folder full of Elf from before this game was out when /v/ had daily threads of fan art.
What does the luck stat govern??
Anybody beat ultimate story mode? do you need a certain level or just nice gear? I reckon a human party with decent gear is probably enough...
Also anyone have any idea what Seal of Conqueror complete benefits are for Amazon?
just do the room, hall is harder. see if you have gear with less damage taken from draconic foes. Evade consciously and carefully, abuse the brandish move for invicibility-frames...use strong potions/war paint...don't be getting crazy with incite rage or iron will, it seems it's not the fight for you to do that
I'm inclined to disagree with you, since spoils seem to be determined at the end of the run instead of a case per case basis, but if you're right....does this mean I should switch to a bag with luck bonuses before ending a run?
>just do the room, hall is harder.
What. The room has the dragon constantly raping you, room filling fire breath, rocks falling from ceiling with every attack, etc.
In the hall you can pretty much freely wail at him. Just get behind the shield during fire breath and you take pretty much no damage during the entire hallway even if you're always on its face.
Luck affects critical hits and evasion.
"Dragons Crown that we have your questions is "for LUC," but, LUC of this work we have with only relevant critical evasion and critical incidence. LUC will not be affected in the Treasure Hunt."
meh, maybe you're right, I tend to fight him on the room now because I can rape him fast with amazon and his attacks don't seem that problematic to me, it's just faster imo, but yeah, at his level he probably lacks the skills that make the fight easier and the room could be way tougher
lol, is that some level 10 trash or something? but seriously there are hundreds of names for boots, if that's not one of those rewards for ToM or LoC nobody will probably know
That food mini game can fuck off to hell, I like it but seriously fuck off with your clicking the thing I didn't click on resulting in precious seconds ticking away as I try to rectify the goddamn.... anyway, I think I clocked almost 300 hours so far, still going too.
Don't be a kick elf. If you want to go melee, choose the melee class, but for fuck's sake, don't be a goddamn kick elf. Elf is best for stabbing motherfuckers from long range with her arrows or, alternately, blasting them with her elemental elf magic.
Of course not. /v/'s lack of maturity and self-control is why they have to be contrarian when it comes to SJW-related topics.
Why do you think shitty games like Kenguran and Hyrule Warriors keep getting threads? Because /v/ flips out whenever they see tits.
/v/ -is- the lowest common denominator, and prides itself on that
oh and whether it's good or bad depends on the bonuses it comes with, no boots are the same even if they have the same name
For boots you want
damage taken -%
damage dealt +%
Knockback/down resistance +%
Elemental resistance +%
Knockback/down chance +%
Do boots have critical +% if so then that too
>my face when niggers can't handle the pressure in the kitchen
lmao now I feel like an idiot, I did get an elf to level 35 after all...erm I think not, you shouldn't be kicking much with your elf, seems to me there are skills you should prioritize over it
Friend let me borrow his vita and I noticed he had PS+
Downloaded this 2 days ago and its comfy as fuck. Great music and the art is breddy dam good. Elf is pretty fun to play as
I cant get to far because i play it before sleeping. The music and that beautiful burly narrator voice usually puts me to sleep
My autism hurts when choosing between equipments, the descriptions are so vague.
For example, if I'm looking at a piece of armor that has 10 higher defense, but the old one has -12% damage taken, so how the hell am I supposed to know if the +10 defense is a better choice than the -12% damage resistance?
What's the best elf build? There isn't a general in /vg/.
I would also like to know this. I just started it and my build is all on charged shot, taking less damage while charging shots, no holdout dagger or poison or any kind of activated skill at all.
And a bunch of elemental magic which I'm guessing might be a mistake
damage resistance is better in that situation, easily
max power shot, impact shot and evade, put a couple points into multishot, don't put points into kicking, try out everything else to see what you like
only shoot up into the air or down from the air, and only charge. if you're shooting from the air, charge shot, kick, charge shot, evade, repeat
Holy shit really?
i was thinking the fighter would be a good narrator too
Now i really want to finish this
nope, but it does go higher the more hits you take. honestly you don't need more than a point in parry, maybe a couple just to get to like ~3seconds duration. maxing it is pointless though
now while putting tons of points into the skill is pointless, the skill itself is fucking amazing and makes you unstoppable once you learn to time your blocks
>damage resistance is better in that situation, easily
But when is it not anymore and raw defense trumps it? I have couple bags where I got equips from 20-30 levels ago, but they have such god tier effects that I just can't change them for newer stuff with lesser effects.
>but they have such god tier effects that I just can't change them for newer stuff with lesser effects.
well if the effect is -10% damage, check when that armor difference is >10%
alternatively, focus on not getting hit and do chain runs until you find something that DOES beat it
critical evasion probably means getting hit with criticals less right? Also is Dex for using pick up weapons only? or does it have to do with hitting closer to the higher limit of the attack range of a weapon
It isn't rape if it's an elf
I can't recall off the top of my head, but that seems about right. Something I just recalled is that you can look at the stats in the menu with the cursor and the game will tell you what it does.
this thread makes me want to force my friends to start playing again. i never did get any of them to join me in ultimate, or even get very far in the labyrinth of chaos
>well if the effect is -10% damage, check when that armor difference is >10%
That makes sense, but isn't that -10% damage calculated from your total defense? So the effect only gets stronger when I switch out all other equips even if I keep the one it comes from the same.
Lucky for you I have more Sorceress than Elf.
Can't blame them, not many people are that into the game to get there, LoC gets repetitive quickly, ToM on the other hand I find way better, shit gets really crazy, too bad a lot of people that play the game won't get to see it..
Wouldn't be playing LoC if not because I wanna level my SoC
No, there's a good amount of people who like this game just for the fanservice bullshit too.
And it doesn't help that it's also boring as shit like SK. There are far, far better beat 'em ups that you can get for free or at least cheaper, and without the bullshit grinding rpg elements.
it's calculated by the total damage you take - defense. so having more defense would technically lessen the effect, but you'd be taking less damage anyway most likely. i don't know if we've actually got any calculations on this kind of thing. in general, <10 def difference is completely negligible if the abilities are good. more than that and i get uncomfortable and start to look for a sub-par replacement. i gear up for 9 bags though, so i really don't end up keeping old gear very long, especially with higher level characters finding loot for other new ones.
higher invincibility durations can be useful for starting into brandish, that's about the biggest bonus. also so much is blockable that you wouldn't think is. gazer eye beams for example. and multihit attacks that get parried send you to max berserk fast
Remember when Dragon's Crown was a game for pedophiles?
I didn't grind, and the game being so easy is exactly the point.
The only thing the game has going for it is grinding. I'm not one to buy into some stats treadmill shit, keep that out of my Beat 'Em Up thanks.
If you don't have to grind to get past anything...then what's the problem?
Is there even anyone online anymore? After finishing Inferno with my bros, they seem to have gotten enough of the game, but I'd like to try some other characters. I've been a Wizard long enough now, but I'll miss pulling off Meteor Storms and wrecking everything.
and since they patched in cross-play it should be a fairly sizable comeback
I don't get what you mean to say, all beat em ups are repetitive. This one actually does a good job to make you wanna come back for more with both ending dungeons and the ultimate story mode. To beat that you need good gear you can get on those endgame dungeons so there's at least incentive to play through them
Dorf confirmed for bro-est Dragon's Crown.
My current elf buld (lvl 135) revolves massively around the bows and daggers.
I got pretty much every bow skills maxed up, the create daggers skill maxed, and the backstab crit skill maxed.
When going this route you MUST get the common skill that gives you a chance that using an item won't lower its stock.
On the field it translate like this: rely heavily on picking up crossbow/daggers, when not use your bow, and summon daggers when you can't pick some up and need to deal massive damage to tough enemies.
I highly recommand a high crit damage and high luc based equipement with such build.
Farming for the necklace that gives you either crit damage or 1 damage is mandatory.
In my opinion it's one of the funniest and most rewarding build to play, dealing so much damage. I'm not sure but I got the feeling that I outclass most of the wizards I play with DPS wise.
In the US, but I think EU got it a few months ago. And it's not server based, so you can play with anyone, even japs.
It's a shame that it gets fairly laggy when playing with Vita players.
it's on ps+ for both systems. smooth framerate and higher res makes the game look sexy as hell. just don't expect to be finding those shinies, hitting those glyphs, or cooking food anywhere near as quickly
Is that necklace good? I got it and discarded it since it seemed to do, on average, less damage than the weapons I was rolling with, using amazon btw
>that slightly translucent outfit
vanillaware knows how to please my dick, that's for sure. i kind of want them to make an h-game just for shits and giggles
That feel when I have so much art, but a lot of it just isn't worth posting.
Tried it via PS+ as it's a free game.
Fucking waste of my goddamn time.
>ugly as shit
>performance issues especially netcode
>clunky controls and animations
>generic enemies and bosses (WOW MEDUSA AND A UGLY HARPY NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE)
Overrated shit just like W101.
Near launch Elf players were always the worst. And I was also an Elf player.
Eventually I realized I kinda prefer solo play and I haven't played online since then, so I'm not sure how its changed. I assume there are probably a lot less awful Elf players now that the initial SO MOE rush is long over.
To be very good it must be couple with critical chance bonus or LUC and critical damage bonus.
In a higher floor of the labyrinth in ultimate you'll get some glove with a crit damage bonus. Farm it too.
I want to put my penis into Tiki, if you know what I mean.
I know retard fans are gonna go with the "b-b-b-but you never played it at all/for long enough!" Strawman.
It's just not a good game. Literally the only reason people like it are because of tits, and I don't care about that.
Time for some more shitty art, I guess.
>tfw right stick on PS3 controller is wobbly
>Cursor is super sensitive, just shows up and moves all over the place at random when I'm not touching the stick
>Aggravates my autism to the point where I can't play
>That one person in a party who always clicks on the characters tits when choosing a branch
>Everyone else joins in
Honestly the wraith is a pain in the dick.
Failing to kill a lot of the B-path bosses on your first attempt or two really isn't that uncommon. I think on my first try I failed to kill everything except the cyclops gate, the killer bunny, and the archdemon.
Think I'm done for the night. Someone else take over.
it's tough if you don't have a mob clearing spell or power smash, those damn zombies...
Love how crazy some fights get on ultimate, freaking Demon Lord spawning two arch demons, does Ancient Dragon do something crazy as well? haven't fought him on Ultimate
Don't think so since I've tried and kept getting thrown into jail.
It's not a shame. I had luck the first time I fought him and got a team which already knew what to do.
After this a guided a team through this fight which had no idea, felt good.
I didn't even realize this boss had a humanoid body as a head the first 3 times I fought her.
The first time she attacks I just moved on without trying to fight her because I wanted to see what happened, and in the final encounter with her you don't actually have a hell of a lot of time to kill her, so she can pretty easily wind up escaping if you didn't do enough damage to her on the first time. Especially if you play solo like I do.
can she actually be killed once you move past the first encounter on story mode? I thought she always fled...I'm sure I killed her quickly but she still retreated. On LoC and ToM she doesn't retreat
>back story talks about meeting some manlet rouge that partners up with you on your travels
>think of gaston and lefou
how could you miss that, she's so cute
So how long did it take you guys before you realized you could hover over characters you talk to and click on them to get a description of them?
>she said she lost her bra fleeing from the kraken
come on don't be a hater, can't wait for smash 4 and I love this game also, hating on such a lovingly crafted game as DC is tasteless though, I'll give you that...it's like hating on Valkyrie Profile or Chrono Trigger
So is this game better on vita or ps3?
i have it on ps3 but I'd say vita since this is more of time sinker than a game you need to really sit down and think about.
I'd slightly disagree with that, if only because you can work out what builds you want to make (Demon slaying set, set with Fire resistance, etc). But I like both. Shame the vita is kinda dead (and memory cards are still a joke).
I assume it won't work on PSTV because of the lack of touch pad?
Also Vita has the advantage of the suspend/resume function, which is a pretty big plus for a game like this if you ask me, you can stop at any moment and continue within a second instead of having to power up a console, wait for the game to boot and load the file, etc
What do you mean better online? PS3 and Vita have cross platform play and I never really noticed difference between playing with Vita or PS3 players. I suppose on the average people on Vita might have worse connections due to wifi though.
It'd be cool if they mixed things up also on the ultimate boss batles, like you could fight an AI controlled party for example, though I don't see how the vita, heck, even the PS3, would be able to process that...
What the fuck is the level cap for Hard mode? I'm a lvl 61 Amazon.
They're all great so you really can't go wrong. I normally play as Amazon for the ass and the mid air combos.
Quality beat 'em ups from non-indie studios are hard to come by these days, isn't that enough?
Oh god ! it goes here !!!!!!!!!!!!
>Couch coop friends constantly dashing to the right without stopping, end up missing alot of shit
>They keep burning their food and stealing mine but they don't know how to eat the food
>Constantly complaining about why we aren't playing EA sports games instead
>Host alone, no one joins, everyone immediately quits when I randomly join their game
>tfw stuck to playing singleplayer
65, try and beat ancient dragon like that since you can rack up experience faster in infernal, remember to use brandish on him to take advantage of the invicibility frames, made the battle easier for me...also gear up with anti dragon gear, and for the skeletons (they have me a bit of trouble, two weapons so you can brutal drive and instantly switch to the other weapon via a hotkey also helped me
I was wondering when someone was going to point out that mistake.
> Dragon's crown 2.
> Dark Elf Warlock/Druid and Pirate.
> Dark Elf summons animals to fight along side her. Maybe animal forms.
> Pirate focuses on "swashbuckling" (dodge rolls, parrys, reflecting projectiles) and a pistol (pierces through targets, heavy damage. Upgrades with ricochete).
Lets just... lets just pretend for a while.
Well, i'm out of shit to post. Guess I'll go play vidya now.
So, I just got to the part with where I need to find the Talismans.
Online is enabled, should I go in it now or should I wait til I beat the game? Exactly what is "random" about the gate?
You don't need online, it can make it tricky.
Essentially, all areas have a B path now. The B path is trickier. Some more than others (you don't want to go into a mission that is recommended for lv. 40 when you are 30.) So, going with a party makes it easier, but you might get voted into an area that's too tough (or an easier area when you can get the talisman)
The gate is now going to send you to a random place. So, you might end up in an area where the B path is too tricky for you. Good news: You can still take A path (and clear some missions). And, B path often as a way to "flee" from the boss (though you don't get a talisman). You can also pay horses to take you to a specific dungeon.
Tip: Make sure you have gear that resists burning in the Fortress, the Wizard Tower, and the Wyven mountains.
Nah, there are two paths in every location now. Path A that's the same as you already did once, path B is a new one that may or may not be above your level, clearing each path B nets you a talisman. Also, all B path bosses are timed, so if you're too weak to kill the boss, you'll still clear the path eventually if you just hang on, but you won't get the talisman of course.
If you're tight on money, just go random and clear the A path if the B path seems too high level.
>have level 140+ Wizard
>More than halfway through the tower
>Soon I'll have the loot and gear to take on the talismans
>PS+ promotion means the online will be full
>they send a refurbished instead of the same one like I asked
>all saves are gone
It should also repeat with Fighter, since his ending was "and Fighter forgot how to settle down so he kept adventuring fiveever".
>Fighter appears trying to use a katana with his shield and being three times bigger than everyone else.
nah, just random stage, use the stables to choose what stage you wanna play (useful for getting the talismans you're missing)
Seems to me she always runs away if you don't beat her on the first room
It's a shame that the game gets boring, because the it's pretty as fuck.
Oh well, I got it for free via PS+. I'll just play it 'til I get sick of it, no loss on my part.
Yeah, the guy disappeared
Except that's ass-backwards.
Amazon is great still, but not the best like it was pre-nerf.
Wizard was great, but then got buffed because people suck at using him, so now he's OP as shit
Elf blows a thousand dicks in parties greater than 2 people.
>not keeping save backups
Serves you right.
>implying the PS3 lets you use save backups
PS2 memory cards, sure, but the vast majority of games don't allow you to use saves from another CPU
What makes Wizard so good? I've used Wiz since the beginning and I didn't notice much difference last I played with the new patch, except of course being able to charge spells.
