Pic of the Day
>"Looks like there was an impostor in the earlier posts, so I introduced him to my sword!" ...I'll leave it up to your imagination if he really said that or not. The veteran hero, Meta Knight, returns to battle!! We didn't forget the Battleship Halberd either!!
another pic too, will upload in a minute.
People are hoping for a Ganondorf reveal since Hyrule Warriors is revealed tomorrow.
I'm not sure why they would that since it'll probably be pic related again.
>Wario on Friday
pls pls pls pls pls
Can't believe I have to do that myself.
>Meta Knight’s Up Special Move, Shuttle Loop, changed quite a bit in this game. The glide is gone, and the attack slashes opponents twice while spinning in a large loop. This has turned into a highly technical and effective move.
Seems like his recovery has been nerfed.
Would've been realistic if they hadn't revealed Meta Knight today. Besides, Sakurai's passed up almost every single game launch/anniversary related reveal opportunity he's had.
Break the Targets has been cut
That's good though.
He was getting too predictable as Zelda, Diddy, and Dedede were all shown to coincide with releases.
Lucario was the only one to be shown on any anniversary, that being Brawl's.
Slightly. A large reason he was broken in Brawl was that he was closer to a melee character - fast recovery, can actually combo in his aerials, and has safe if not advantageous ground approaches.
as you can see in this image this will continue the continuity of the colours as all the characters have done so far.
>Pit doesn't glide at all
>Metaknight's shuttle loop doesn't go into a glide
>"THIS MEANS THERE IS NO GLIDE ANYWHERE IN THE GAME GUYS!"
Stop being a tard. He needs to say "Gliding has been removed from this iteration of smash bros".
As it stands, Metaknight might be able to go into a glide, just not if he used the up special. Same with charizard.
It's pretty obvious glides and recoveries that allow you to just float around freely have been removed.
Pit's UpB and MK's UpB make this obvious, and Pit wasn't able to glide in the E3 build either.
It was a cool idea, but in execution it doesn't really work in Smash.
In all honesty I think he just reveals most of them when he finishes the majority of the work on the character. Obviously more work goes into them after they are revealed and also some characters are left secret but for the most part I think he just shows off when he can.
Whose to say what goes on in that man's mind.
That's how they were all posed in the SSE stage select with those three too.
Even if he isn't giving us another 8 hour adventure, I'll miss the fun of SSE. It would have been received much better if he made the final stage something funner than the Great Maze, and if Sonic wasn't just a Deus Ex Machina.
SSE was a legit piece of shit, only saved by character interactions (which could be replicated in a simple arcade style Classic Mode with opening cutscenes, rival fights and endings)
But the glide jump doesn't use the glide mechanic that was used in Brawl, where any character who was able to glide could hold down the jump button (in mid-air) in order to initiate a glide. Palutena's jumpglide will work like how it did in Kid Icarus Uprising, where you are launched into the sky, then slowly float down while given control on the path.
If its anything like KI:U you just ascend and slowly descend. There's no tilting mechanic involved. I'm sure if gliding, as we knew it in Brawl, was coming back, the characters who had it before would still have it now.
No reason he can't main both.
Villager was our first reveal, not too long after New Leaf's release.
Olimar was revealed around when Pikmin 3 released.
Same with Toon Link and WWHD.
Sonic and Lost World.
I want to say Diddy Kong and Tropical Freeze, but I'm not 100% sure on that, I can't remember, too much enjoying the dong.
Smash Bros is an advertising hype train that Nintendo is using to its advantage.
>there will never be certain menus in the game that show the Smash characters just sitting around and doing things like reading and talking while they're waiting to be picked for fights
>characters like Mario/Bowser and Link/Ganondorf walk by each other while giving mean glances to one another
In the 3DS tourney, he proved to be surprisingly good, especially since they've fixed up his move set and have made him more mobile.
He might be bumped back down when we get the game, but it at least shows us he's not going to be as trash as he used to be.
He isn't shit anymore and he actually won a tournament because everybody facing him was stupid.
Naturally, it means every bandwagonner started calling him the new Meta Knight.
I enjoyed SSE. As a "storytelling device" yeah it was pretty weird, I don't give much of a shit about Tabuu and all the weird enemies, but I really like the idea of a Smash game with a long single-player campaign, and I think it did that well. It would have been even better if it felt more, well, "Nintendo."
I think a longer version of Melee's lighthearted adventure mode, with Nintendo environments and enemies, would be my ideal version of an SSE-like campaign.
Thanks guys. I'm an idiot, lol. Because of all the people ITT talking about Meta Knight's nerfs compared to Brawl relative to Bowser's strength, for a second I thought Bowser had suddenly ascended several tiers in Brawl while I wasn't paying attention or something. I should have known better.
So you're saying Metaknight has bad proportions?
So right now Meta Knight is out of scale.
fun fact, even the strongest mustard bottle can't deal with clipping on a vertex level. I don't know who started that trend at pointing at cliping as a something easy to deal with when it's the opposite. Fuck, even movies have clipping issues.
>Third Kirby rep
>Still no Wario
I'm beginning to suspect Sakurai plays favorites...
Well, gee, anon, what makes you say that?
Is the blue part of him his skin? If so how does he wear the cape and that armor padding? And I don't see that mask connecting to anything. This shit particularly stands out to me in this model, but I don't know why
What's this? This Little Mac's stage? What's with the glow? 'Chance?'
>DK: Freeze and the 3DS port of the Wii game both sold better than Uprising
>DK only gets 2 reps
>Dark Pit will probably be in the game
At least it's not King K. Rool, fuck roolfags.
>Chance Time from Mario Party confirmed for Smash 4
>>DK: Freeze and the 3DS port of the Wii game both sold better than Uprising
Source? Because I'm pretty fucking sure that TF didn't even make it to a million sales.
DKCR 3D makes sense since it was released when the install base was bigger than when Uprising was out.
the favortism is strong. Also this needs to be updated
I think he means Meta Knight. He looks almost exactly the same, heck in the other screenshots if I didn't know any better I'd say it was a shop using his Brawl model.
The wings are smoother, there's this tiny red stuff on his shoulder pads, he has armor on his hands for some reason and there's chipping on his armor but that's about it. Nothing major.
I can understand Mario, Zelda and Pokemon having tons of items since they're the big franchises, and Kirby as well since Smash's base gameplay is directly inspired by Superstar, but Uprising suddenly getting all that attention just seems dirty as fuck. It's not like Nintendo's pushing the franchise anymore after release (though it did get tons of marketing before release)
>Fire Emblem having more reps than Pokemon, Mother, Metroid, Donkey Kong, F-Zero, and motherfucking Kirby
>All of that Kid Icarus shit
>Mii dressed as Meta Knight
>People assume Meta Knight was deconfirmed
>"Surprise! Meta Knight's back!"
>Sakurai says for five seconds Zero Suit Samus was cut
>People assume ZSSamus is cut
>Sakurai shows Ridley's Shadow
>People assume Ridley is a boss
Sakurai shows Rayman's trophy...
>That's how big Meta Knight and Kirby are.
In Smash, maybe. But Kirby is actually around 8 inches tall, I believe. Which would make Meta Knight 8 inches as well.
And Dedede around the size of an IRL penguin.
>STOP TALKING ABOUT VIDEOGAMES AND DISCUSS ECELEBS INSTEAD!
But when Ridley is involved suddenly everything doesn't count.
>We didn't forget the Battleship Halberd either!!
Fuck yeah best map is back! Cant wait to see tournaments palyed on it..
We're going to keep having these threads and there's nothing you can do about it
>>Fire Emblem having more reps than Pokemon, Mother, Metroid, Donkey Kong, F-Zero, and motherfucking Kirby
This is understandable though. Mother's a retired franchise, F-Zero is fine with CF being the only playable rep, Pokemon is technically tied since Robin's the same character, and DK is only really missing Dixie to have a full cast.
They should, at the very least, unlock some cool cutscenes, just pure fanservice of the character interacting with other characters in fun, interesting or ''epic'' ways.
Goddamn, I always get hype with this shit.
Or Capn' being a dick, murdering Pikmins while striking a pose.
How much would I like to see some cutscene of Little Mac punching Ike while avoiding Ike's attacks, only for Ike to drop his sword and show he can also go to town with his fists.
Painfully obvious pun aside, I remember hearing that Meta Knight DOES have Kirby's inhaling ability, but chooses not to utilize it and instead rely on swordfighting in order to challenge himself.
>I remember hearing that Meta Knight DOES have Kirby's inhaling ability, but chooses not to utilize it and instead rely on swordfighting in order to challenge himself.
Meaningless headcanon, there's nothing in the games themselves or officially stated that backs this up.
>Nobody thought the Mii deconfirmed MK, what the fuck are you on about?
Where were you two days ago?
I'm pretty sure nobody thought that, I was here.
People were talking about the Mii hats and stuff like that, but nobody thought it deconfirmed him.
Why 'would' it deconfirm him?
>Any video game discussion is automatically "marketing" or "shilling"
Is this really what /v/ has been reduced to?
Think before you fucking post, jesus christ.
>chance time in smash
Oh lord, just imagine the tears.
Fuck, there needs to be an item that does this.
>Kirby has to give 3 of his stocks to Ike!
I thought it was a fake just using dolphin and full antialiasing. They really didn't even change metaknight.
Well it doesn't help Kirby is at the top tier of the Nintendo universe.
He's got so many abilities and a natural fighting acumen that I don't think he can be beat.
Does anyone know if Kirby retains the memories of those he absorbs? If so he's steadily getting even more powerful with each entry.
They've been making all characters alot more colorful and look less, brawly, but metaknight seems to look like in brawl unlike other characters.
Maybe snake can come back with gritty brawl textures as well :)
With how Meta Knight's model is just slightly improved from his Brawl version, it makes me wonder if the same thing happened to other veterans that haven't been confirmed. I think there was a theory a few months back that the SSB4 engine was designed so that all Brawl content could be easily ported. Lets hope that's true.
I hope Meta Knight has a maskless alt. It'd be cute.
She's gonna be the new star fox rep right guys?
That said, Brawl did have battle damage (where MK's broken textures were still in the game) as a cut feature.
all of his armour breaks off when he takes enough damage and he turns into blue kirby and he sucks every player up and he gets to have all of their abilities combined, plus his armour looks like a combination of the other players armours and looks.
Oh scratch that, I found it by searching boshi on furaffinity. It's boshi, croco, boswer, wart, and a koopa troopa in piss and shit filled diapers. And they all seem to be pleased with themselves, too.
These things always get Mario and Wario wrong.
Nobody plays Wario any more in the spirit of that old Mario Kart image, they play him because they're mimicing that shit and they're fucking insufferable. Just dicksuckers constantly.
Mario players, on the other hand, seem to be really surprisingly good. I never see new players picking Mario.
Not even him, but I just Google smash 4 reddit and check out the news, that's it.
It's easier than checking /v/ sometimes for Smash news. You do realize you don't have to actively participate in reddit trash right?
Maybe you're the cancer?
>Actually defending content stealing reddit
If you love it so much, just go back there.
It got scrapped, though it was still in the game data or something.
>I miss individual stages that tested each character, though I realize why that became impossible.
Because they're lazy? It's not that hard to throw a break the targets stage together.
Ever thought that it's not so much bias, it's just the fact that Mario, Zelda, Pokémon and Kid Icarus are popular franchises and thus they get more exposure?
Not him, but in the animu it's implied that Kirby is an immature Meta Knight. In that Meta Knight went through his development process completely and Kirby's got halted when he crashed on Pop Star.
We still have more people to come, ROB, Mewtwo, Ganondorf, Falco,
Are you saying we shouldn't include characters just because they have a sword?
How about we remove characters that use fists?
Hi I'm Palutena and for one of my Up Specials, I can Jump Glide!
>Gliding mechanics reworked
>How about we remove characters that use fists?
just saying its getting to the overkill point
I mean we know the dude loves saugsagefests but this blade fetish is directly impacting gameplay unlike the lack of girl characters
>Mario, Zelda, Pokemon
Is this a joke?
>Gliding mechanics reworked
Oh, anon. You're such a silly faggot.
>Donkey Kong being fucked over by Sakurai again
What else is new?
>Gliding is no longer the mechanic it was in Brawl
>Gliding is still present in the game
>Gliding is seen in Palutenas Jump Glide
>Gliding may be present in other characters customizable Up Specials
>Use youre head
>>Gliding is still present in the game
So far it's not.
>>Gliding is seen in Palutenas Jump Glide
It's the exact same shit as it was in Uprising, which was jumping and floating down slowly. Might as well call Peach's up B a glide as well.
>Jump Glide confirmed for changing directions left and right
>Not true to the Uprising Jump Glide mechanics
Very good, Anon!
>We felt Meta Knight was underpowered in the previous installment, so we've decided to alleviate this by making is attacks faster and stronger. All of his special moves have increased recovery capabilities as well!
If Peach's umbrella is "gliding", then why wasn't it mentioned as a Glide in Brawl? It's just floating slowly to the ground, while Glide was using momentum to remain in the air.
So like Peach's natural float?
>can change direction
>can attack as well
Why is Palutena so broken
Subspace Emissary was a terrible Kingdom Hearts rip-off (written by the writer of KH, in fact) that did nothing but eat up most of the development time and resources and take up more than half of the space on the disk. I'm glad it's gone and will never come back. A beefed-up Melee-style Adventure Mode is all we need for a one-player adventure.
No idea why so many people want the melee adventure mode back. That shit was shallow as fuck. Sure it had more enemies that were in line with each character's game, but it was nothing special at all. SSE was pretty much an attempt at a kirby game with smash bros characters. Which would have worked if the map design was better and that maze never existed. And of course all the big bads were actual bosses from other games instead of all the original character designs.
anyone else notice that apparently dragon type pokemon will be showing up as potential hazards on this stage?
Because Waluigi debuted in Mario Tennis on the N64 and was created specifically to be Wario's tennis partner.
He was also paired up with Wario in Double Dash.
It's not a stretch to consider him part of Wario even if he hasn't appeared in Ware or Land
>Garchomp using Earthquake
>everyone standing on the ground gets blown the fuck out
>sse was time consuming and repetitive
Which could have been fixed with proper map design. Shit had everything a typical kirby game has. You can't bitch about SSE without admitting you don't like anything kirby. You're remembering adventure mode through rose tinted glasses.
SSE had a shit ton of flaws but it was definitely a step in the right direction.
Is Palutena able to float like Peach or is it just with Jump Glide?
retards will spam the shit out of Heavenly Light though
Diddy was revealed for the US Dong Freeze date
Zelda on the Japanese LBW date
Marth on Fire Emblem DLC day.
They stopped with the advertisement reveals because it made them too predictable.
as for melee adventure mode it was concise and to the point with little tedium and repetition though admittedly it just would not have been as interesting if it had handled like brawl
brawl is and was such as a boring ass game in all respects
This was much better before Jigglypuff was edited into Cthulu. Diddy was funny because everyone knows fighting him is annoying. Jigglypuff was just completely random and that sort of attitude or skill is not associated with Brawl Jiggs players.
Same species as Kirby but a different set of skills.
He has no family relation to Kirby, so he's not his brother/father/second cousin twice removed.
But basically it's to surprise you that Kirby's species can be downright violent and horrible should they choose to be, in case you haven't seen enough of the warpaths of destruction Kirby has gone on because some mice stole his strawberry shortcake.
to be honest i always found melee's adventure mode to be the weakest link of the singleplayer modes in that game. yeah, the platforming stages (the 3 or 4 of them the mode had, at least) were neat to playthrough, but what ultimately kills it for me is how it goes in the same order of progression each playthrough, and it takes like 30 minutes each time. melee's classic and all-star mode don't have that problem because they're mostly randomized and a bit shorter.
still like it way more than sse though.
You guys really weren't here.
A ton of faggots went and pointed out that since a Mii showed up wearing Metaknights Mask, and that he said "Metaknight is here", meant that Metaknight was not playable, so you'd have to go and make a "mii metaknight".
There were retards fighting tooth and nail saying it meant MK was cut.
probably the same doorknobs who thought Captain Falcon would be cut because he wasn't shown RIGHT NOW.
Plus, look at this thread, how many faggots are saying that because Wario hasn't been shown RIGHT NOW that he's not in?
I don't really like Meta Knight's look in this new smash, they tried to made him look realistic again like in Brawl and even went further adding those ugly guantlets. They need to keep it simple.
Is this game supposed to look exactly like Brawl?
Stupid. If it was yesterday then the roster would have ended cleanly. And people have been bringing this shit up since E3 last year. And the horizontal size scales with your browser window.
Yes, because we can predict the roster with such accuracy.
You know, Ike was replaced by Chrom, Marth was replaced by Lucina, and those two are the only FE characters in the game.
Also, Little Mac can't get in because all he does is punch and Villager has his boxing gloves anyway.
Rosalina won't get in because she's barely recognisable by casuals, and is far less important than, say, Toad or Bowser Jr.
Pacman will use his new design from the cartoon, because that's what Namco wants to advertise.
Toon Link isn't going to be playable, since he's the conductor of the Spirit Train.
And obviously Pokemon Trainer will be completely revamped to use Gen VI Pokemon, and every single one of his old Pokemon will fall to the wayside.
Might be a retarded question since I'm not at all that familiar with modelling, but why is it apparently so hard to make smoothly round objects? Shouldn't there be some sort of "sphere tool" to help out with that?
Blame Super Star, Meta Knight's revenge is just a big plot hole or just unexplained shit.
There's an upper limit on the number of polygons that a character can have and still have good performance. Kirby can be smooth because he's almost all sphere, so his polygons can be spent on making him smooth. Other characters have a lot more details and additions to worry about, so they have fewer polygons to spend on getting smoothed out.
Come the fuck on. Sakurai has taken a shit in your face every time you've tried to predict the roster. Just fucking give up and realise that there's no fucking way to know who will and won't be in the next game.
Never seen any clipping in movies. Care to share some examples?
Food Fight doesn't count.
Anyway, there is a clipping issue in the movie Frozen, although it's obscured thanks the camera angle. During the song Let It Go, Elsa's hair passes through her arm at one point, an impossibility only explained by clipping.
Wow, I'm not even the guy who posted that list of characters.
I'm saying that counting anyone out who hasn't been directly deconfirmed is retarded. This includes Mewtwo, Lucas, Snake, whoever. They might not be in, but who fucking knows? Not me. Not you.
That's because movies are pre-rendered like cutscenes. It's not like you have control of a movie, they have plenty of times to fix details.
Still, it's not like they're there. There's plenty of small details that pass through inspection.
