I started playing Nocturne today and I'm at the fucking Lost Woods ripoff area where you're in contact with Hijiri and I keep on running into these hordes of demons who turn Demi-Fiend or my demons against each other and I fucking die every time
>Can't handle Nocturne
Maybe the Devil Children series is more your speed?
Actually this is my second attempt, I first played 2 years ago and got about 14 hours into it but my file got deleted and I didn't try again until today and I don't remember having this much trouble.
I didn't know what his gimmick was.
Don't even remember the fight. I just bursted him the fuck down.
I absolutely love Nocturne but the difficulty is pretty disappointing. Once you get past the first candelabrum boss fight you'll steamroll pretty much the rest of the game. The only fight I had issues with was Mot, because I forgot to bring any demons with zio.
That's divine shot (or something), pleb. Freikugel is the one with lightning coming out of his face.
As far as I can see I only got Freikugel when I was about to fight Chiaki.
I fucking knew someone was going to beat me to it when I was going through my screenshot folder of that playthrough.
Why does it look like he's cumming while practicing his basketball free throw shot?
In a game of pretend I can be anything you want.
Honestly it depends on how lucky you are. It can get insanely difficult at times, with random encounters finishing off your MC before you even get a single turn. I believe it doubles the damage you receive and also makes enemies crit you more, lowers your chances to hit/crit/avoid and makes running away from battles next to impossible. Strange Journey was certainly very easy compare to my run of Nocturne hard mode, but there are people who didn't have that much difficulty in it.
>orgasms so powerful that they cause critical damage to Satan himself
>mfw I'm going to win the game with just Pixie, Hua Po, MC and Jack Frost
Pixie is best demon.
>mfw if you play on hard it's up to luck if you will win the first battle or not
The great thing about PCs is that if it runs like shit you can lower the quality.
But no I played it on a shit rig and it was fine.
goddamn you fuckers are whiny babies.
This game is the first turn-based rpg i've cared to play for more than a couple hours (I normally play fighting games), and I am not finding it rage-worthy at ALL. The only part I got stuck on so far was Matador and I grinded for a bit, fused demons, and kicked his ass. This game is challenging, sure, but damn. I fucking love this game. Go play Pokemon or something.
DDS was great too but I really don't see myself replaying it anytime soon.
Compare every shin megami tensei game to persona 4.
I need to know if all of them is shit I don't care about: the game
the slice of life, the cringy dialogue, the waifu simluation, the boring repetitive dungeons (with the saving grace being that combat is somewhat tactical), the doing same shit every day for different days to grind stats (because grinding dungeons isn't enough), and I just hate the tone in general, it feels like a game made for kids (the best comparison I can think of is shounen vs seinen in anime)
And before you reply with "you don't have to grind", I mean that it feels like a grind the first time through, I don't mean replaying parts over and over to get stronger, the base game does that for you.
And then here's the part that irks me the most. I fucking love giant bomb right? To the point where I have seen every quick look, every live show. So why couldn't I sit through them playing persona 4? I'm on part 69 and I'm almost ready to kill myself.
I feel like there's something I'm not getting because people seem to love these games, and being that it's a JRPG genre I should be all over that. I don't want to miss out on a great series.
Persona 4 is the shittiest game ATLUS has ever made and

None of this exists in Nocturne.
DDS has cringy dialogue though.
No seriously the only people who even remotely enjoy P4 are retarded waifufags.
Persona 3 and 4 are literally the only ones with that shit
Everything else except is crazy cyberpunk demon apocalypse dungeon crawling and killing your friends for being retarded, except Nocturne which isn't all that cyberpunk
As long as you don't release/throw away the demon that you fused Pixie with you can get Mega Pixie.
Persona 3 and 4 are probably the most character-focused games. You could say they're 50% talking, 50% gameplay. Other MegaTen games are usually something like 80% gameplay, 20% story.
If you don't like them, shit, try out literally any other PS2 MegaTen game. Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga, even Raidou games (although those are kinda different). Try Devil Survivor if you like SRPGs. The second one is fine, too, although it does have more dialogue and shit.
>Getting rid of best demon for a novelty demon
Most of it is cool, but the SOANIME plot was fucking awful and
>literally any time Cielo talks
daily reminder that Black Frost is best demon
hey /v/ im thinking of playing Devil Summoner
should i play Soulless Army or King Abbadon first? does it matter?
B-but muh waifu...
Got him back from the compendium anyway.
>No piercing so he's worthless against Lucifer
Cielo is great but that accent makes anything he says cringe worthy.
Word up. Dante+Mega Pixie+Black Frost only acceptable party vs Lucifer.
>We'll never get Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne featuring Raidou Kuzunoha XIV from the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner series
Anon, you can call the DDS plot pretty much everything, but SOANIME? Really? Can you elaborate?
Nothing, you are a cool guy. I pretty much love all MegaTen games I ever played for what they are (something some people do forget quite often).
If you liked the games you've played, you'll like the PS2 ones. I started with the DS games as well and loved both Nocturne and DDS. Yet to play the Raidou games, though. Real time combat is turning me off.
i played both persona 3 & 2 and they were decent
should i play Devil Summoner 1 or Nocturne next?
Nocturne is kinda similar to Persona 3 combat (you basically get an extra half-turn every time you hit a weakness instead of knocking the enemy down) and has a lot of dungeon crawlan. Devil Survivor is basically a SRPG where every unit is a party of three and combat is just one or two turns of everyone doing shit.
You have to decide for yourself.
>but SOANIME? Really? Can you elaborate?
Watch more anime. Otherwise you won't understand how cliché ridden and predictable it is.
Don't get so butthurt about it.
They're all amazing. Raidou Kuzunoha 1 is the only exception as being just alright because it feels so weird and the combat system isn't really well realized.
That's just being a dick.
I do watch a lot of animu, but I didn't feel like DDS was that predictable. Most of the time I was just trying to understand what the fuck just happened.
I mean shit, if you know of any anime in tone of DDS, please direct me to it.
I'm doing good so far I'd imagine. Just killed the first horseman with the bow but haven't fought the second yet. Aside that, reached the forbidden part of the manakin city and now I'm not sure where to go. Fusing seems confusing but everything else seems great.
'PS2 Classics' PSN releases are PS3-only. And given PS2 Classics reboots the PS3 into its software emulator to even make that shit work, I doubt we'll ever see them work natively on Vita.
There's literally a diamond dozen I could send you to. Hell the whole "mysterious girl with anmesia" is so prevalent that even the Ys videogame series has it.
The problem is I'm utter shit with names. So it sounds like I'm just pulling your leg.
I... think its called the brahamastra or something? Shit man these names make no sense to me.
Also what this guy said >>257797447
>beat DDS twice for all the extra shit, questions, and Demi Fiend
>harddrive fails, lose save
>fuck it, import save from gamefaqs
>get through the entire game just to not get Heat or Argilla's skill
fuck you internet
not like it matters that much anyway, they're so far behind in mantras it's not worth the time and money to catch them up anyway
nigga please, DDS2 shits all over Nocturne's music
That reminds me, how often is a physical build actually the best way to go? The only time I can think of is Nocturne, I played DDS and even though physical went okay, I was a bit annoyed to find out that magic got god damn Null Element.
>can't link to Man's Tomb Prelude because its not on the OST and not on youtube
Fuck that. I put chaos hero as STR in 1 and he was awful. His only contribution was playing meatshield and giving me a free gun.
Pretty funny how even when he fused with a demon he was still crap
Your friends are supposed to be useless. This is SMT, after all.
The only reason you had a useful friend in SMT II was because he was actually
True. Only good partners are your waifus.
demon ones too
it depends whether the copy is a first or second run. my copy of is a 1st PAL run and it displays DEAD during the final battle like other regions, but it also unfortunately has a bug that causes it to often freeze during specific enemy formations in the amala labyrinth. 2nd run seems to have fixed that issue and made some minor changes, like a couple of typos, couple of enemies AI that they messed up a bit and changing the DEAD to MUTE for some bizarre reason.
When did people get elitist about which generation SMT game you're playing?
SMT I had the best partner/waifu/heroine. 10/10 looks, 10/10 loyalty, 10/10 ability
> Not Frost Ace
C'mon man, I'm trying to like you.
Get a load of these plebs
>What I though it was going to be
Boring, grind heavy, guide dammit
>What I got
Thor nuked japan in the name of murcia, Pascal the Cerberuslooks happy
Game pretty good
2 aged far better than the first, but they're both very playable. The UI is pretty good, but it will take a while to get used to because of how different it is from the other SMT games.
I wish I could fuck this game.
Honestly I've played Xenogears, Xenoblade Chronicles, almost all the Final Fantasies, Ni no Kuni, Chrono Trigger, the Personas, Suikoden II. But at the end of day something about SMT3 still strikes me. I think it's the best JRPG of all time.
Im just starting Devil Summoner and im at the name select screen
now im autistic and have a thing for picking the canon name in RPGs
should i name him Raidou Kuzunoha or input my real name? does it really matter?
Who thought this shit was a good idea?
Playing through it now, fuck it's good.
The music is literally incredible as well.
>dat home theme
>dat terminal theme
>dat game over theme
I like that dungeon
>Nice mirror puzzle
>a small nudge at Heat and seriph
>Mirror puzzles are comfy
remember to abuse human minions later in game for easy high level demons
Currently playing SMT4 for the third time, trying to get neutral. I've played a bit of Nocturne before, but never finished it. If I have the disk still, can I emulate it with relative ease, or does it not matter? I'd love to go back and finish it.
I forget exactly where I left off, I remember doing the tower thing with the weavers, and maybe beating the fiends that are available around that time.
What's the point of "route splits" in Megaten when Neutral is the absolute best in every single game other than Nocturne, in which the best route in True Demon which also makes "route splits" pointless?
Reminder Demons are assholes and are never your friends.
Except for Pixie
Tanks brahs, I'll look into that when I have bandwidth available.
In the meantime, SMT4 is amazing, especially for a handheld RPG. I've got like, 130 some odd hours put into it. Kind of annoying how the neutral end is so hard to get though, especially when it's my nature to try to finish every quest and stuff, but I can't cause alignment and whatnot.
Did you not see SMT II Law end or something? I'm usually Neutral with a love for wurlds of str, but SMT II Law is my favorite ending in the series.
you're a badass mareen saving the world with a bunch of other badass mareens trapped in a literal hell on earth
first person dungeon crawling, sadistic dungeons/puzzles, everyone dying, lots of fun
basically Doom with demons
Save the world, nigguh. Plus it's probably one of the hardest recent SMT games, so if you can smash it out then everything else shouldn't be too bad.
The final boss is one of the most retarded difficulty spikes in any SMT game though.
>Have you ever actually played a visual novel?
I said VN elements. Persona 3 didn't even let you control your party and Tarturus was ass. Persona 4 stepped up on gameplay but the dungeons were shallow. The music is pretty neat though.
Could you babies shut the fuck up about your autistic dislike for a spin-off title? I'd rather hear about which demon you'd like to impregnate then about what you fags deem as shit.
This wurld of vit is bullshit
This fine specimen of a woman.
It is still in beta and pretty buggy. And I think the last part isn't finished translating. So we are basically beta testing for DDStranslation, but whatever as long as it is out who gives a fuck.
>Mainline past Nocturne.
So you mean the two that came out? SJ and IV? Yes they would have. One came out in 2009 and the other 2013. So unless Atlus would have went completely under without Persona, yes we would have gotten it.
>Fighting Minotaur was easier than making my way to him
Thank you Cerberus friend! Your soft, squishy body absorbed his blows perfectly. Now for my part of the deal.
I enjoyed it for a while, but demon negotiations rubbed my ass raw with all their
>give me 200 macca
>give me a bead
>I'm unsure, give me 300 macca
>O.K. see you later loser
>not threatening to rape them to get them to join you
