Playing as Wario in SM64DS was the dopest shit.
>Everything's more challenging because Wario's a fat fuck
>Punching and kicking goombas so hard they get sent flying
>Trying to do any platforming section that requires high jumps
I don't think so. The model was okay for the time but the DS one just looks more like Bowser. He's not really supposed to be scary anyway, even the SNES RPG already portrayed him as more of a lovable oaf.
>Turning the shittiest entry in the series into the best one
Fantastic platformer that unfortunately was overlooked.
>Updated mechanics, but they're still optional so if you want to play restricted to MGS1 mechanics you can
>hug noise and animation
fucking melted my heart.
This game was great. Got rid of the shitty ass controls of the original while still keeping the mystery alive
I feel like SM64DS was kind of underappreciated at the time it came out.
Back in 2004 everyone was bitching about the controls but I was too busy playing the living Hell out of it and having my mind blown that there were (better-than) N64-quality visuals on a handheld.
I don't even know what to think of you clowns anymore.
>inb4 someone posting the bait screen of Ganon taken during the lighting that make it seems like it's not dark anymore
stay mad 20-fps-locked pcfags
It's nice, but you need a monster rig (not sure if it's actually that demanding or just poorly optimized since the original devs weren't involved) to get games running decently with the high-res fork they made recently.
Good lord, which one is the remake ? They didn't even improve graphics. Both floor looks really bad, both background texture are horrendous, but left Bowser looks better and left mario looks less blurry so I hope left one is the DS version at least.
>thinking the original pose is any better
I hated playing it with the new graphics.
I dunno what about it exactly, but it felt floatier. Maybe the hitboxes felt less accurate? I know i had a much easier time beating the original version (which is included in the game).
But that did also come with SOTN, so yes it was a good port.
You mean using that new experimental upscaling tech?
Yeah. That's because it's pretty much just been released and it still needs a lot of work.
Running a DS game in native res is easy.
Yes I have. I was underlining the fact that the remake is so shitty one could confound which one is which. However I won't lie : I played 64 when I was young but in all honesty I had to do a double check on the pic.
>implying it isn't brighter
I'm sorry you're retarded, anon.
So what about the hundreds of redesigned textures and models, practically every important NPC getting a model and texture overhaul, the music sounding much better and the improved controls and item menus.
Yeah fuck off you retard.
>It's mostly the same game with updated graphics
I bet you think Windy Waker HD is a remake, too.
There's something about new Link that looks iffy to me. The other Zelda game on the 3DS did the same. The models just look. weird. Like they were made out of clay and by a very unseasoned modeler.
Everyone does seeing as almost every picture from OoT on the internet is from the original.
You didn't played it very far, did you?
There are like 4 or 5 new levels, the structure is completely messed up, half of the stars are completely different to get, there are more stars and well fucking 4 characters instead of just mario.
It's a major overhaul, SM64DS has a completely re-designed engine, more characters, a (sadly shitty) multiplayer mode, and just more content in general. It's a remake.
WWHD is just the same game with a higher resolution and different filters and post-processing effects. It's a port.
I thought the remake was so much easier than the original, and didn't notice anything wrong with the hit boxes, but yes the controls are somewhat different, not bad though.
I prefer the original, but the remake was pretty fucking good IMO.
WW HD is a port, true but they did more than simply changing graphical assets. Hero mode, fast sailing, fixed bugs from the original, Tingle Bottle, gamepad menu... it's still a port though.
They made sheik look more feminine
>Has been proved wrong
>Run out of argument
"S-S-Stay mad pcfag"
Nice one, champ, you sure make us look good. Sometime, I'm ashamed that Nintendo fan base is so vocally retarded. I disagree with him, the remake is a good remake, but I have to honesty to admit that it doesn't change much, and that it IS brighter. It doesn't really bother me, but still.
This game, m8. The remake redoes the models so that they actually look like their 2D counterparts and not some weird midgets.

Nah you are just a pleb with a pleb phone
Too bad they didn't finish the xen part yet
it's a fucking remake, of course it's gonna have the same core design
Well it's a re made version, it doesn't have to have new stuff
but it does
>So it is a remake, but because it added new things to muh first gaem eber it's bad
>b-buh if you remake it you also gotta change how the game works!
>Has been proved wrong
>with a screen that show how better the remake looks, how better and more colorful illumination is, and how it can still have dark places as well
Sure thing pcfag.
These children made the best phone you can buy, all hail the glorious children.
Too bad you can't afford it.
Also too bad you will never try the ultimate 4chan app that make the desktop site itself looking lame.
>but new assets and a lot of rewritten code I think counts.
Still a port.
Nice, but the game isn't recreated from the ground up. It's a port with extra content. Just the same shit as you would get from PS3 / Xbox versions of games on different architecture and different exclusivities on each platform.
OOT +MM GC are ports
WWHD is an enhanced port
OOT3D is an enhanced port
SM64 is a remake
ALBW is a full remake/reimagining disguised as a sequel.
>implying it isn't brighter
Are you for real
>subpar voice acting
Same voice actors and better interpretation.
>and needlessly over the top cutscenes by even Metal Gear standards?
You should replay MGS 2 and 3 then.
>Burn in hell, you and your bait.
What other reason would Lorule reuse Thieves Town, TurtleRock, Swamp Palace etc., The Dark Overworld thematic etc.?
I thought Lorule is supposed to be this "New world"?
Clear answer, it's basically a ALTTP reimagining with all the "Sacred Realm" continuity shit from OOT and such to make it fit.
The Dark World from ALTTP was SUPPOSED to be the GoldenLand/SacredRealm before Ganon corrupted it, but in OOT they changed it to the Sacred realm where all the sages reside. They used that in ALBW instead of the Dark World and made Lorule
Which is supposed to be a NEW WORLD, TOTALLY not the Dark WorldLook like the Dark World instead.
It's a Sequel in "marketing" and "lore", but in essence, it's a Reimagined Remake in the flesh of how ALTTP would've been made in the modern day.
>Toads always comparing Luigi to Mario and either mistaking him as Mario or undermining him
>Toads fucking terrified of Wario, one just even wants him to calm down and by the end of the game, they think he's not so bad after all
Being Luigi was just suffering due to the shit he'd get which was undeserving as hell by that time, but being Wario just kinda makes you think about how his personality really is beyond just being a greedy fuck or being known as a mean guy and that he's not that terrible when he's not usually being his quick-tempered self. The WW games are kind of a hint towards this too somewhat due to the amount of friends he has, even if he did treat them wrong some times due to greed. They're still by his side for some reason besides that.
You wot? the multiplayer was fun, and worked with download cart mode
Where the fuck did this "pcfag" come from? When did anyone say anything about PC? Ocarina of Time is pretty much universally acclaimed. Stop spewing slurs for no reason, you seem like a fucking redditor.
First I'm not really pcfag, I mainly play on Nintendo system but heck, since I play RTS on PC, I'll guess that's fine. Second, that exactly the point, you dumb fuck : Remake is less dark. End of the line. So the nintendo fucker who said that wasn't the case have been proved wrong. Stay retarded.
>tfw spent tons of hours playing SM64DS multiplayer with my friends
>Implying I didn't just specifically say that it's practically a ALTTP remake
It doesn't change the fact they could've made something completely NEW like OOT to MM (though they reused assets, the cheapskates), But instead decided to make LORULE this new kingdom on the other side of ALTTP look exactly like the Dark World (which is supposed to be GANON's VISION of the world, and Ganon doesn't exist on the Lorule side, so theres no reason why Lorule should look like Hyrule's Dark world).
The only way it can make sense is if ALBW was a post-OOT-universe REIMAGINING of ALTTP's story, I mean, like I said, they use the OOT Sacred Realm instead of the ALTTP Sacred Realm (which was the Dark World).
People that are mad the OoT remake has flaws. I have my own copy, I agree the game improved much with it's colorful graphics and item selection only a retard will deny the adult dungeons that where supposed to have a dark scenery weren't killed by the brightness of the game. It's a minimal flaw yes but things that were supposed to be scary or intimidating are no more. Still 8/10.
The Klonoa remake was fucking great outside of the cutscenes.
>You should replay MGS 2 and 3 then.
You should've mentioned Raiden in MGS4 as an example, but nothing in 2 or 3 compares to Snake backflipping off a rocket and kicking up a sniper rifle to 360 noscope Sniper Wolf. 3 had loads of random supernatural things, but that's the entire series. That said, Solid Snake and Big Boss stay relatively real compared to everyone else in the series, as they deal with the supernatural, but aren't supernatural themselves. Twin Snakes shits on this and is better taken as Otacon retelling MGS1.
>implying MGS2 and 3 cutscenes are anywhere near over the top as the twin snakes ones
>hind d shooting a rocket at snake
>snake backflips over it
>snake lands on the rocket and jumps off it
>rockets exploding in the air around snake
>while in mid air, snake hovers, aims and shoots hind d with a rocket
>slo mo up the ass
I agree, I liked the imaginative monstrous designs of the original.
Look at these motherfuckers. So good.
>tone the autism down a bit.
Hey hey, I'm just proving my point to this fuckhole >>257884335 that it's a practically a remake just stealthed as a "new story".
They had to choice to make something new
They had the choice to make it be a remake
They just went halfway and made it a (as I said)
>ALBW is a full remake/reimagining disguised as a sequel.
I know I'm not the only one that had problems with this game because I looked it up, but fuck me if it wasn't one of the buggiest pieces of poo I ever played. Was it just the PC version that was broken?
>No. It's a sequel.
In timeline theory.
But as a game, it feels like I'm playing a remake of ALTTP, remade to the last detail with different mechanics.
Like Mario 64 DS, different mechanics, more/different/altered/new levels
You're told it's a sequel, you're told it's a new story, a new adventure, you're shown it's this new quest unfolding, but the game repeats, constantly references the game it's paying homage to to the point... it's the same damn game, reimagined in the modern age.
Ergo, a remake.
No. It's a sequel. New story, different times, different character.
I guess Pokemon Gold is a Pokemon blue remake then for you. It's the same thing but with a new region, so it's a remake. Oh Super Metroid is a Metroid remake as well.
>No. It's a sequel. New story, different times, different character.
You're just proving my point further.
ALBW is a sequel in terms of Story and the semantics, yes. But in mechanics, it's barely new. It's mostly a remake of the same world
Pokemon is clearly a new game
Though I'll honestly say they all seem the mostly the same to me with all the new additions there to "hide" the fact it's the same thing.and Super Metroid is easily a sequel, it's set in the same world, but the whole layout is different and expanded upon, your arsenal is VASTLY improved upon and it's practically a new experience. Semantics obviously tell it's new, but ALBW in it's essense REALLY feels like they wanted to make a Sequel but they couldn't let go of the awesome Dark World of ALTTP, EVEN IF it'll throw a massive hole into their story with Lorule being IDENTICAL to the Dark world, which was GANON's VISION.
So, in the end, the Semantics are bullshit and nonsensical to the point.
>nobody posts Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix
They literally remade the game from scratch, and it's fucking 10/10.
N'wah please shut up....
Twin snakes was the way that otocon remembers the story. And he's a huge weeaboo faggot. Shit was like watching Power Rangers.
Go trip and bite off your tongue.
fuck that, we need a sequel for wiiu this is sunshine we are talking about one of the games that pushed the gamecube. Luigi and Wario can stay as multiplayer or near-end game content
Amzing fucking game. I don't care what /v thinks, they did this shit RIGHT. I played MGS1 first and loved it to death, and playing this as 14 year old anon, felt refreshing after playing the original to hell and back. Porting exclusives from Sony to Nintendo was rare back in these days, so I considered the MGS2 control option along with Krazy cutscenes to be the necessary flare to truly separate the game from it's PS1 Sony counterpart. I really enjoyed it.
After much excitement for its release, I played Sonic Heroes later that year and despised it. It was after the treasure that was SA2 Battle, and was the first Sonic game I completely disliked.
GOAT remakes passing through.
>N64 textures look better than your remake
>How do we really show that it's stuper hot in there with our new advanced graphics?
>Let's make everything super fucking red!
>"There's people that agree with him? MUST BE SAMEFAGGING."
Fuck off scrub. I enjoy MGS1 and TS equally.
>Sounds fine to me.
Fuck you. A thousand times fuck you.
But yeah, OoT3D was great. And SF643D would have been too, if they had done a better job with the fucking soundtrack. Hell, star fox assault had AMAZING remixes of SF64 tracks, so clearly it wasn't beyond them. but apparently they just opted for a terrible lazy instrument set replacement over a midi for the 3DS game.
>literally remade the game from scratch
Um...as much as I love 1.5. that's wrong
Final Mix was in Japan for years. Just got HD upgraded and finally released internationally. So for anyone not in nippon who hasn't emulated it's a whole bunch of new content.
The only remade/updated thing was the cutscene packs from 358/2 Days
Still a great package overall and I'm hyped as fuck for 2.5. nothing was really remade though
Nah man it sounds fine to me. But if there even is controversy over the OST I don't see why they didn't just use the original soundtrack like they did with OoT
I remember people complaining there was no orchestrated sound track for the 3DS release but at the same time, it's still all the same shit people recognize so it pisses off less nostalgiafags who the game is trying to pander to, like myself
>if you bought the original game it comes in as a update
Only one dev I think actually did it.
And for comparison, the actually really great assault meteo remix
>Classic mode uses original music and plays in 4:3 with 1:1 recreation of original game
>New mode remixes every stage and adds two new robot masters along with 3 levels of difficulty that changes the stage and AI of the enemies/robot masters
>All the robot masters are unlockable characters along with Roll,Protoman, Megaman (with slide and charge)
>Huge level editor with a still functioning online server to upload/download them
At best, the HD collection is slightly worse than the originals
At worst, the HD collection is shit compared to the originals
No one's arguing that the atmosphere of the battle makes no sense; just that it looked darker and more atmospheric in the original game. If it DID take place during the day, then people would be upset that it didn't take place in the night, which would have led more to the feeling of the fight.
Actually the remake is brighter for technical reasons.
Try playing any darker games on a handheld outside when it's sunny and you won't see anything. Pretty much every decent handheld game that has a PC/console counterpart is a bit brighter for the same reason unless the PC/console game is already bright.
>nostalgiafags think the original OoT looks better than OoT 3D
>Mfw playing that on a 3DS with the control stickpadthing instead of the clunky-ass d-pad
Forgot in previous post.
Developer often fuck up the remakes because they try to make them look better and show off how it looks better. Old games often have fog and really dark lightning in order to hide imperfections, low textures, bad models or even the complete lack of a model at all.
Those things then end up creating a certain atmosphere which the player may or may not like.
When they make a remake, the remove those curtains used to hide bad textures because now they have good ones, not realizing that the very same curtains that were hiding bad stuff were adding good stuff.
Which is the reason why you get shit like the Silent Hill remake.
I prefer the remakes. It's clearly how the Pokemon were meant to be represented.
The original holds nostalgia for me but that's about it. Actually looking at them side by side I can't believe how different they look
>implying Mei Ling's super Chinese accent isn't great
>implying her delivery has anything to do with the translation being hit on by the famous Solid Snake
>But Anon the circlepad is fucking horrible
I'll fight you bitch
I manage to do some precise shit with it and it's comfy as hell
You're a nigger.
The only thing I've encountered that's worse on the circle pad is trying to drive in Mario Kart DS, you keep suddenly not steering if you don't aim carefully enough to the side with your thumb.
