Hyrule Warriors has been out for two days now, how long untill we know the full roster?
Uh, pretty sure we already know the full roster. It's 13 characters as far as I know (though a couple have different weapon movesets, one of which being an entirely other character).
You are way behind.
I know, that's so unlike Techmo Koei.
full roster is already known and confirmed, 13 characters.
Cia, valga and wizro are NOT playable. Devs made a statement yesterday that they are going to be giving the game content updates and SPECIFICALLY mentioned more characters. Those 3 villains are all but guaranteed to be added. Anybody else is up in the air, I wouldn't count on it.
I think if you take into account other weapons, its 20+ different movesets. Kinda low, but more than Pirate Warriors 1, and close to Pirate Warriors 2.
I wasn't expecting Dynasty Warriors or Gundam DW level of characters, though was hoping for more than this. We'll see how many they add for DLC (as they said they are doing long term support for this game).
I preferred 2 though PW had better movelists that were well fleshed out. Numerous attacks branching off almost every stage of a combo is what DW should eventually strive for even if it means cutting out some of the cast
But PW2 had lots of branching attack combos. And normal DW is just "mash square" and end with triangle... with the final attack changing depending on WHEN you hit triangle. PW1-2 at least had light-heavy-heavy-light style combos.
how much will they cost i wonder
> Guys! 52 different move sets! 50/50 gender ratio! Over 15 confirmed characters AT LEAST! There'll be more!
> 13 is a fine number. Koei usually has a small roster for most of their other games. Different movesets make up for lack of characters. There'll be DLC you guys, don't worry!
All this justification...come on, just admit that they fucked up a game you were looking forward to.
The anime is shit. Manga is much better. You get what you get with OP though, its a lighthearted adventure series with lots of world building, and some serious moments and good characters.
So... if you are only interested in Zelda's lore, why are you in a thread about a side game (thus not canon) that is also a musou (which tend to not bother with any real plot)?
We already know about that, you dork.
The most important being is that it will be paid DLC. Considering Tecmo is amongst the biggest jews in the market, I'm not surprised if we'll have to pay for the obviously cut content of the game.
we'll only get CIA plus her two goons.
What, you expect DLC to have actual work put into it and not just reused assets?
>Aonuma wasn't lying when he said the roster was massive
>It's just that 90% of it was behind a paywall
One Piece "lore" doesn't exist. People credit the series for world building, but it doesn't flesh out concepts, it doesn't explain anything, the only thing even close to world building that it does is run rom one place to another and add more gimmick islands.
We're how many chapters in now and have no concrete explaination for how Devil Fruits work? How they interact with the Sea? ANYTHING aobut them? It took unitl punk hazard to explain how they are collected when a person dies, and the only reason Oda explained that was to set up the Mera-Mera Bait.
One Piece has shit world building.
To be honest, it's going to be very hard to resist getting Valga and Wizzro for me They're easily my favorite new designs of the game
>This other game had a shit roster so it is fine
It isn't like musou games have complex characters or they'd have to design a load of new ones for this. Also >>258069008 while being told by devs all your favourites will be in there
Pirate Warriors 2 was a good Musou game.
1 was mediocre.
The fact that Zelda has the same size roster as One Piece's first entry and seems to be around the same quality is just...blech.
Don't do it, anon. They're going to tempt you with all the swarms of character and costumes DLC, then once you've bought them all...
They'll release Hyrule Warriors: Hero Edition and have it include all their DLC plus bonus missions and costumes and sell it for the same price they sold vanilla Hyrule Warriors.
They implied that the fruit is reborn when a person dies back when Blackbeard killing Thatch was first mentioned.
>It's not world building unless you answer all the important things!
The series has taken crazy amounts of time to show off how the weird-ass technology of the world works, its zoology and weird weather shit, and the history and customs of several cultures. It's CONSTANTLY giving more context for the world, both large scale and on a place-to-place basis.
>All fans of the game are the same person.
Don't put everyone in the same boat.
The anons who said things about 52 movesets , 50/50 gender ratio and at least 15 confirmed characters were delusional. Were is the source for these things anyway?
They may not. This is nintendo, they can barely into DLC, they are going to make all the same mistakes companies did in the past as they don't like learning from others
Plus they love keeping the prices of games up
Except it's been stated that the only person that REALLY understands the mechanics behind devil fruits is Vegapunk, and he's hidden away by the marines. And since Blackbeard is breaking all the known rules on how devil fruits work, the actual mechanics behind the fruit are going to be a plot point. This is easy to see.
And the vague world building still works fine, as there's still lots of the series to go, and the Revolutionaries are only just starting to play a bigger part in the story now. Not to mention the different kingdoms that formed the World Government and their relationships to other islands is important because of Doflamingo's past and what not.
Its not SUPAH DEEP lore, but I don't want a series that just focuses on what is important for that specific arc. Randomly mentioned islands and shit like that one XXX Rank boxer shutting down huge devil fruit users because SKILL is cool to see. One Piece is probably one of the better series for fleshing out the world.
The 50/50 ratio gender thing was something from Treehouse, iirc. My guess is that they thought Cia / Wizro / Valga would be playable. 52 movesets and 15 confirmed characters are just things that popped up out of nowhere and were passed as truth with no actual source outside of some shaddy website.
I think the three OC Villains were originally playable along with a bunch of weapons like Midna's True Form, but they didn't manage to do everything in time. It would explain why they're willing to work immediately after release to me.
That's not the issue though. That roster that you posted is fine because it is at least characters everyone is familiar with, the basics in other words.
In HW, we get Literally Who tier characters like Agitha and Lana, as opposed to characters that people would actually want.
Also considering there is multiple movesets, would it have really been so hard to make a new model and just port the animations to it. Why does Lana need 4 fucking movesets? They could have removed her deku moveset, model a Saria in one day, and put the animations to her. There is no excuse for this shit.
How much of a taboo is it to work during the obon festival or whatever holiday is currently going on?
I'll forgive them if they release a trio villain pack with some more missions where I can conquer Link and protect Cia.
Well obviously making a model and animations for Saria would take far longer than one day (you don't seriously think it's that quick, do you?) they really should have kept weapons at least slightly tied to the character. Deku stuff makes more sense for Saria than anyone else.
>Character guide - Hyrule Warriors features over 15 playable characters, but how will you get them all? Prima’s here to save the day; there’s an entire section the guide for that! Check out their skills, stories, and other unlockables.
If the other three villains were playable that would be just over 15. What the fuck happened?
No, you idiot, it can't be done in one day. You have to factor in all the different animations you have to transfer over to a slightly smaller model, then make it work in place of Lana.
You're a fag if you think simply putting a Saria reskin over Lana's staff weapon model will solve everything.
>HURRRRRR A MODEL CANT BE DONE IN A DAY
You've never seen the inside of an actual studio have you? It can be done in a day for sure, the question is whether or not they'd do it.
There's also QA for the model to make sure it works right, designing the actual character (as they don't look the exact same), designing the animations (if they are going through all this work, why make the animations the same?), approval, more testing...
I haven't seen a game studio, but I work in other software development. Just building a model is a tiny piece of the work.
> You never seen the inside of an actual studio have you?
Apparently neither have you, because there's more to just making a model. There's actually testing to see if it works, then working out all the issues.
> b-but muh sweatshop japanese game dev studioooo
They also said support for the game would continue past the release of the game, so there's a chance you'd get your precious shitty character in a DLC pack.
She literally serves no purpose other than to give you something that you get not too much later and a song for Darunia to dance to.
She's one of the weaker characters of the game.
Midna originally had a second weapon set, which if the Fairy bottle for link is any indication, would have meant she'd get her "true" form and a weapon style for it.
>And ending where Cia wins and nets Link's dick
This is all I ask for.
If they do DLC i hope it's actual extra content and not a character here and there, like a WW or MM pack with a couple of stages, a few characters, shit like that it would be pretty sweet or at least expansions on the timelines that are in the game, i really wanted to play as human Midna.
My prediction was at 18, personally.
At least we got Zant.
Shit changes all the time between the dev version used to make guides early(so they are available at game launch) and the actual released product.
I think your call is correct, though. The villains were originally going to be playable, at least in free mode. Maybe they discovered a big bug when using them, maybe they held them back for a later DLC release. Who knows.
You'd think if you loved her so much, you'd at least remember what species she is. Come on now.
All 3 of them have their victory screens already done so all that's needed is to add some extra attacks if their arsenal is a bit too enemy general-tier.
Look everywhere on the internet, she's commonly refered to as human Midna and it's far easier to say that, knowing people understand what i mean straight away, as opposed to writing Twili Midna and having to reply to people explaining what i mean, had to do it before, can't be bothered to do it again. Drop the autism.
>she's commonly refered to as human Midna
Only by retards who didn't play the game.
>it's far easier to say that
Don't be lazy. Say true form Midna or something, it's only 3 letters more.
>Drop the autism.
Get it right.
>shitty generic OC animu waifu-bait is in
>Skull Kid isn't
Autism defense force up in here today. More people know her as human Midna than they do Twili Midna, and many more simply don't give a shit, you don't like it? keep bitching. I'm going to whatever term i like, i don't live to please you raging faggots.
>There's also QA for the model to make sure it works right, designing the actual character (as they don't look the exact same), designing the animations (if they are going through all this work, why make the animations the same?), approval, more testing...
>Those things don't happen in REAL development
I'm sure you are enjoying your game design degree anon
To be fair, it centered around the one playable OC, the HW version of 5 familiar faces, then it only touched on OoT, SS, and TP.
I'm almost certain that WHEN this game gets a sequel, we'll be getting Skullkid and Groose and Saria and medli and whoever the hell else was most wanted but never showed.
>I'm going to whatever term i like
>I'm going to refer to a pineapple as a turnip
And you accuse others of being autistic.
>still bitching about something that doesn't bother anyone else
I think my description of you was pretty accurate, yes.
I'm going to assume he was just fucking around, after I read this line:
>All of Hyrule Warriors should have taken them less than a week to make if they weren't lazy.
Either that or brain damage.
>claims to like a character
>can't be arsed to get basic details about her right
Keep being a giant faggot then.
Then do it.
Make a good 3D model of, let's say, adult Saria. It shouldn't take much more than 6-8 hours for you, since that is the average workday. Post it on /v/ once you're done, to prove how easy it is.
We'll be waiting.
>They've already announced DLC when the game's only been around two days.
Wonder if anyone can get into the disk? Because I guarantee without a shadow of a doubt that that 'downloadable' content is already on the disk.
There's another Zelda thread that's been up for 15 hours. It's not like you can make a thread when you finish and it can just be used a general Zelda and/or HW thread. You have no excuse. Put up or shut the fuck up.
Concept, artwork, highpoly model, low poly model, unwrapping, textures, rigging, skinning, animating and finaly lots of testing. 1 day is not enough for a good stable quality.
Kind of like how the DLC was on the Pikmin 3 disk? (It wasn't.)
Kind of like how the potential DLC is on the Mario Kart 8 disk? (It isn't.)
This obsession with on-disk content is really pathetic. Are you going to suddenly support it if it turns out the content is not on-disk? The problem is how the DLC is presented and offered to customers, not how they get it to you.
If anything, on-disk DLC just means that it's easier for someone to hack into the game.
You seriously can't even play as Cia? Or the dragon guy? What the fuck?
They couldn't even give us a Gerudo?
I'd expect a HW2 before an XL game. The XL games are primarily reserved for the Dynasty Warriors line and primarily due to expectations; anything else would just be getting DLC like the current Dead or Alive game.
We got the Kickass Trifecta, I couldn't give two shits about anyone else
except maybe Twinrova
Those were second party Nintendo titles, not Koei Jewco
>can't even wait till game is $20 because jewtendo
>It's 13 characters
HYRULE WARRIORS WILL SAVE WIIU AM I RIGHT GUYS
Or maybe you should realize that this the first game for nintendo like this. Much like the first OP Warriors. The starting roster is going to be small to test the waters. If it's recived well by fans then they can go balls to the walls nuts with the roster like OPW2.
i don't think you understand what autism is. You're exhibiting telltale signs, though. A lack of understanding for equivalency in language and figurative speech. I think you need to get yourself checked
That's a fantastic idea.
>New type of game nintendo fans have never been exposed to
>Make it as mediocre as possible, just to test the waters
>When it sells like shit and gets mediocre reviews, can it and pump out 50 more marios
>If it somehow does well, pump out 5 dollar DLC out the ass for all of those characters they "missed"
It's a vastly popular series in the west and it comes from a well-known developer for this sort of game. ''testing the waters'' has no business in this situation. It's just KT being lazy jews that's all.
Playable characters are content. When the formula behind the gameplay is as shallow as a button masher(not saying this is a bad thing by itself, shallow can be fun) then every bit of content helps.
This game is going to sell like fucking hotcakes, we know that. But I think KT can do a lot better. It's just their business model that I really have a problem with.
>>Make it as mediocre as possible, just to test the waters
Oh noes! they aren't putting 70 zillion characters into the game. IT's going to be mediorce! It's going to be bad! I'm upset cause i have to pay for pre-order dlc cause i jewed out for a used copy!
All i hear is crying. You got any real arguments?
Fist of the north star: kens rage 1&2 didn't sell too hot for what it was. If you were fan of the series sure but as a musou game it lacked bigtime.
This is a major change for one of nintendo's major IPs. Testing the waters has every business in this situation. More so since how the WiiU is seen. If they go balls to the walls nuts in budget and the game flops then you have a major problem. If an inital trial goes well then they can ramp up on a sequal or add dlc characters.
This is business basics kiddo.
>Butcha-U will never draw a Cia doujin
>We'll be insanely lucky if we get even a single Zelda doujin at C87
Why can't the Japanese acquire some taste.
>make a budget title, just to 'test the waters'
>disappoints the fans of the genre
>wonder why it sells like shit
I think the Zelda name is big enough to pull this off, and that's what really bothers me.
Week left until Xillia 2, hopefully that will keep me busy for at least 2 weeks, guess I should finish TP before that and then find something to spend time on the last week until it's out in Europe.
The waiting game sucks.
So 13 characters and 21 movesets?
>Sword + Shield
>Master Sword + Shield (same thing as Sword)
>Great Fairy (might as well be her own character)
>Book of Spells
Midna (Twilight Wolf)
Fi (Goddess Sword)
Daruina (Megaton Hammer)
Ruto (whateverthefuck she uses)
Ganondorf (Dual Swords)
I'm more upset since Lana's Book of Spells moveset throws Nayru's symbol around so I was sort of hoping for characters that represented Din and Farore as well.
Pisses me off more is the Deku moveset should have gone to Saria or Mido or anyone else really. They should have done all six Sages.
In case of DOA5(U) KT lost me at Marie Rose. Asking people to pay for characters in a fucking online fighter is bullshit.
They haven't seen a cent from me since then. Avoided their games like plaque.
Ganondorf's reveal trailer said "Great Sword", but the footage showed him dualwielding shortswords or something. Ideally, he would have Trident, Great sword, Warlockery magic shit and the Dual Scimitar move. What I hope for is a Greatsword/Sorcery moveset and a Dual
Sword Moveset. What Koei Temco is likely doing is just one moveset were he only uses the greatsword for special moves.
>Get shitty OC Waifu Bait no one likes and some Butterfly bitch no one cares about
>But not Groose and Tingle
I seriously might not buy this day one. I know Groose'll be DLC, but fuck. I need my Groose fix.
Seriously I legitimately hate Lana
why does she exist? So many awesome Zelda characters and they stick all this iconic and cool shit on some shitty moeblob waifu bait character
seriously, I've heard nothing but negative things about her. Does anyone outside of Tecmo-Koei like her?
DW1 was also a fighting game, not a musou game.
DW2 had 28 characters.
Not that it's really an equivalent comparison. In DW2 several people had basically the same moveset, including all three generals (Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Jian) and characters like Sun Quan. Hyrule Warriors has characters with multiple different movesets, although I'm not sure if everyone has more than one.
There are like 12 different Links so far, but they aren't gonna put them as different characters. As far as named NPCs and bad guys goes, I guess you could gather like 40 or so at most.
I think Zelda has the worst sound effects in any videogame franchise, and I'm not talking about "hey listen" and shit, every fucking sound is annoying, when you solve a puzzle, when you fucking hit an enemy in SS, when you found an item, and these sounds are in this game too, what a shame.
