Why doesn't Nintendo make Link more manly and not a woman, like they've been doing for the last decade?
There is actually some chitchat about this online regarding appeal to target markets and what it does to young male actors. Basically the idea is that men that are effeminate, young, pretty, can be marketed to younger women that are more likely to consumes a product for those reasons. Justin Bieber, is an example. As they get older women find them more imposing than "cute" so they are dropped for the next cute thing. Before JB there was The Jonas Bros, and before than Hansen, and so on.
Also, most japanese doods are secretly homosex that like to look but not touch, and Link is the perfect link for that.
>Link will never look this manly again
feels bad man
He was manly and ripped as fuck in OoT. Never again, however.
Not him but
>not about the story
>equating Zelda to Mario
Quit playing the NES versions, starting with Majora's Mask forward it was all about the story.
No, it's the opposite. In Japan, super muscly dudes are considered homogay. They probably look at Western games as being extremely homoerotic because all the protagonists are super ripped, lose their shirts a lot, and are almost bald.
It was a tribute to Tom Cruise in Legend. And Nintendo is still mentally in the 80's.
>MC is son of hero of time now retired.
>HoT + zelda gets killed by agents of ganon.
>They use the triforce to resurrect ganondorf.
>Train for years to get revenge.
>MC has to wrestle control of hyrule from the now omnipotent ganon.
Dark themed as fuck, pic sortof related.
I would play it.
They should just go all out, really.
The series could have used some deviled Zelda.
because Manly Old-Timer Link would bring in the sony souls babbies in the fanbase again.
Link had a family in WW, and it's implied Rusl's family served as Link's surrogate parents in TP.
I find family dynamics a lot more interesting than generic teen angst over dead parents.
That nintendo is long gone. And even then, you had to really dig deep and pay attention to catch the darker themes to MM. What that other dude was talking about is a very blatant and in-your-face darkness probably akin to some sort of post-apocalypse game like Fallout. Bleak, comes to mind.
I'd like to see an older Link. Maybe not as old as pic, but at least in his thirties.
it's one of like five or six ways they could do it well
I'm a guy and I secretly like feminine boys.
....when in my post did I imply or state that I wanted 'JRPG Angsty Edge-tier Link?' All I was saying is that it wouldn't hurt to break the mold sometimes. Sheesh. Having a bad night?
No, a Link in his 50s to 60s would be fucking awesome. Just an old dude who has done this shit a hundred times and has a thousand weird magical items that can get him through any puzzle or encounter
>g-guys it's a feminine dick, it's not gay!
i prefer a long clitoris that squirts fem juices over cum liquids, thank you very much.
You're really retarded if you think Majora's Mask's darkness wasn't obvious as fuck.
Game over screen.
All of Ikana Valley.
Elegy of Emptiness.
All the Masks being dead characters.
I'm a full grown homosexual uncomfortable in his masculinity and thus I shy away from overly masculine men, while not being attracted at all to the opposite. I don't really know why I'm typing this.
because japan is obsessed with youth now. japan hasn't cared about becoming men in over 30 years
>Why can't Link be a girl?!
>Why can't Link be black?!
>Why can't Link be manly?!
>Why can't Link be old?!
Link will always be a below average height, young pretty boy with light skin and brown/blond hair.
Sure, his design might bounce around within that spectrum, but that will always be his general image. Because that is who Link is.
Asking why he can't be anything, are all equally retarded.
Probably because he's usually a young male. I wouldn't really say a lot of teens males are the epitome of manliness. Sure you got a few that might be, but that's far and few.
It's not the manliness on the outside, but the manliness on the inside that really counts. He's saved the world countless times in all his many reincarnations, oftentimes when he was still but a child, selflessly risking his life where others would not in order to protect his home and its people.
In Twilight Princess he grew up wrestling giant goats to the ground by making them charge him head-on. Doesn't get much manlier than that.
This is why we need a spinoff starring Ganon: so people will stop whining about shit like this.
And then we make him gay with Ghirahim as his love interest, so we can drink the delicious macho fanboy tears.
we like it or not, man are in any way beautiful.
The only real thing beautiful for a human is a baby. But also for man and WOMAN some "female" characteristics are atractive so the japanes discovered this and use it in order to bring attention to their characters.
Is all in the 10 rules for animation and also in some brain trivia.
>And then Ganondorf ultimately road in and slaughtered/enslaved everyone because these chucklefucks turned the chosen one into a butt slut.
I'm sure they wind up feeling pretty foolish. Or dead. One of those.
>there are people in /v/ that watched the Zelda: Heroic Rage series
>there are people in /v/ that watched those Zelda animu Bleach-like flashes
>implying Four Sword Adventure wasn't the best
He was mostly average Until OoT. But even before OoT, he had a little twink body with feminine hips.
Let's put it this way. Zelda 1 to OoT was about 12 years. OoT to SS was about 13. And as we've seen with the new trailer, Link will remain pretty. So Link has been pretty for longer than he's been "average".
But Link has always been straight. So you're no better than the rest.
>Why can't Link be gay?!
This thread is just...manliness means different things to different people. Because of my father and the way my strange sexual fantasies have skewed my memories of him in the years following his death, I've come to think of manliness as a brooding stoicness, occasionally bitter and self-destructive. The valiant, heroic type of manliness people seem to gravitate towards when describing the word just seems not right to me.
I dunno. I'm not sure if the problem is just that I'm moody tonight or if this thread is pointless. Most likely, though, Nintendo just doesn't have any of that in mind when making these games. They're not supposed to be about manliness, they're just to make another installment in their fantasy adventure series and sell it. Any kind of significance anyone associates with Zelda really means nothing. They're just games. It's just Hyrule.
I'm sorry anon, I can't seem to find it!
I can give you this though, I really like this one
I don't understand what you're implying
Link is like one of the most popular male characters among female players, and not just because the games he's in are easy enough for them to play. The kind of girls who will buy games like effeminate men (Kingdom Hearts, Zelda, etc.) so it sells to them and most guys don't notice male characters unless they are sufficiently gay-looking, which Link is not except to people with a below-average gayness threshold.
This. Japan likes slender, clean-shaven men because it was built on a society of aristocrats and upper-class scholars. Burlier men were of the lower classes, and the samurai weren't always that respected and well paid. It was the same thing in China, where the whole society was founded on studying obsessively and passing the civil exams. Japan has a different standard of masculinity than the West.
>make Link more manly
>a famous knight spirit that has been reincarnated as a blacksmith, another knight, a superhuman sumo wrestling farmer, a wandering swordsman, a kid inappropriately living in a forest of death, an islander turned pirate, and an engineer
That's more man than the people who make such comments about his manliness.
>Downgrading Ganon from glorious bearmode
The Greeks considered the masculine form to be the epitome of male beauty. Women were just for reproduction, and early Greek statues were all of naked dudes. It wasn't until that one sculpture of Venus that you finally started to see representations of nude women.
That's a physique more suited to Ganon, though. Link's not the guy who lifts dump trucks - he's the quick but reasonably strong physical jack of all trades, so it makes sense that he'd be lean but muscular.
Did you know that men are actually more attractive than women?
girls look better because they pile on the makeup, but males have evolved more naturally attractive features to attract mates.
How many natural 10/10 women are out there?
way less than men.
I always wanted to see an anime or manga about somebody in their 30's finding love.
It always seems like japan glorifies high school, and after that, your life is basically over, and you have no chance of finding happiness, so I would love to see something that turned that chain of thought on its head, hell, I'm not even that old, but I would love for some Slice of Life shit that wasn't fucking high school.
Nichijou has best girl and the man trying to win her heart
Half the time Link is some kind of ranch-hand or laborer, so it makes sense he'd have some kind of muscle tone.
But then again half the time link is like a 12 year old who doesn't do anything.
>All this shirtless Link fanservice in TP
>The only time we see a bearmode man, it's a really ugly dude like Ilia's dad or the Headmaster
>There will never be a half-clothed Ganon wearing a bathrobe that looks like Demise's outfit
Being a bear-lover is suffering.
>Petersen, having his right hand and arm wedged in the bear's throat, actually used his own teeth and jaws to pinch off the bears jugular. When the bear passed-out from lack of blood flow to the brain, Petersen beat the bear on the head with a stick.
Now that's a man's man.
I'd like an Old West inspired Zelda
>Link's a cattle rustler
>Zelda's the daughter of a rail road baron
>Ganon's an outlaw turned oil baron looking to over the rail roads as well
>The Sheikah are Indians
Besides fantasy, Zelda pulls a lot from spaghetti westerns. I'd like to see it done all the way some day.
W-What are you staring at b-baka?
Y-You wanna.. roll around the hay with me? ..
No, I'm a filthy, filthy faggot.
But I could be a girl if you want me to. I'm planning on spinning out of control into a crossdressing, drunken mess, tattooed mess in a few years time and I can already work a whorish, but convincing female voice.
>That sumo scene
I was so flustered I had to take a break.
>never understood why hes considered attractive
I believe he even got a part partly because he looked average. I'm not sure if that was for Drive or something else.
Also he was born a Mormon so inbreeding's not unbelievable.
This one's easy OP.
Snowflakes in the thread think feminine features can be in some way manly, or he's "manly on the inside" but it's simply because he's not real.
Link is crazy stronk and powerful, but that doesn't sell in Japan.
Look up Japanese male models. All pretty boys.
Nobody would want a tattooed trap, there's just something about it that seems wrong
>Everyone rags on WW Ganon for being an old man
>No love for chubby dudes
What game could you be referring to, anon?
Whoever said I was aiming on being convincing? I'm talking about the stubbled, shaggy haired man in a dress you see stumbling down some street in New York in high heels with a brown paper bag of bourbon and tampons and wonder how someone could ruin themselves so much.
I know! His kimonorobe was the coolest thing ever. I was really underwhelmed by his TP design by comparison, partly because it wasn't as visually interesting, and partly because it didn't flatter his figure as well.
Body type =/= realism.
On a purely aesthetic basis, a bearmode person looks stronger than a body builder. So giving a character a bear type physique would be a good way to stylized the character into looking stronger.
>Lon Lon Ranch's music
>Gerudo Valley's music
>The fucking entire Sheikah Village section in Twilight Princess
>An entire game revolving around rail roads and trains
>Old timey explosives and abandoned mines everywhere
He's just as ripped in TP, only it's harder to tell because TP Link isn't wearing fucking tights. But in the art for Link's Crossbow Training, you can definitely see some arm muscles.
>he's "manly on the inside"
How is he not?
Even considering the life he lives before the games start, he had been doing some labor-intensive shit in most of them. Some of that being done as a child. Things most people on this website couldn't do as much as people here can tend to boast.
This is one of the many reasons I don't play jap games. The vast majority of male characters look like such gigantic faggots, and the action is always exaggerated, flamboyant and silly like from some shitty cartoon.
As for Link, Megaman and all of those franchises, I personally believe they lost a lot of their charm when they started adding lore and more detailed art. I loved the original Megaman series, and it didn't feel that childish because the art style was so simplistic and silly, and the story was summed up in a few words.
However, with Megaman X, they started focusing more on the story and tried making the silly characters look "cool". Suddenly you went from a stylized, simplistic platformer, to playing something meant to appeal to the same audience as a Saturday morning cartoon.
But I digress...
No there aren't. Link was literally the only attractive male in the entire series until Skyward Sword.
Yet the series is still popular with girls because Link is so hot they don't need anyone else, apparently.
One of his incarnations, which most of these OPs complain about being "too girly-looking," took down a giant spider, a dinosaur, and whatever the fuck Barninade was at the age of 9. They're just mad jelly that the girls love Link more than them.
Is this MANLY enough for you, /v/? I made it after 1,000,000 hours in photoshop
>has to wear armor at all
What a queer TP Link is.
Because I don't know. I want to ruin myself. I don't know. I just wanna take a bunch of drugs.
Anon, I don't even know if I'm being genuine right now. I don't know if I actually have a problem or if I'm just whining because that kills time and I don't know what to do with myself otherwise.
>But then no one would want to be around you at all
I don't want to be around myself.
Irrelevant, OP asked why. That is why.
It's irrelevant how snowflakey you want to make it, Link is androgynous and soft looking because it sells in Japan. Has nothing to do with how you in particular define the term "masculine."
>Body type =/= realism
...The way you're using it is based on realism.
The only way that statement would be true is if you made body types that don't listen to how the various body types work on real living things.
Drugs and partying will only carry you until your looks run out, which at the rate those guys tend to go, is pretty quick. I can't tell you what to do with your life, but there are other ways to fight the loneliness besides throwing your life away. Having someone nonjudgmental to talk to about your dad who can try to help you sort things out might at least make you feel a little less alone.
>Shiek... I'm already a Darknut
Is it weird that I found Auru from TP attractive? Unfortunately, he isn't important enough to merit any
gheyporn of him...
>go to Japan
>get in a taxi
>taxi has the deepest most stereotypical wise samurai voice ever
Before you say it was just my gaijin perception, NO-ONE else for the entire two weeks sounded anywhere close to this lone warrior.
Has anyone noticed that the horse is carrying your equipment? I hope this isn't just cosmetics and that the horse will actually serve a more meaningful purpose than just a ride
>every other forum or place to discuss OoT its fanboyism and shit
>at /v/ it just turns into twinks and bara
Fish and rice diet, rather than red meat and grains diet. Folks there tend to be shorter/slimmer on average, but go through normal development with hormones and all that, so they look and sound like adults.
>Has nothing to do with how you in particular define the term "masculine."
Except it does because initial question is based around how the OP in particular defines the term "masculine", which begs the question thus leading to the responses such as these.
Basically the flaw of asking why something isn't A when A is something interpreted differently in the first place.
One thing I find appealing about Link is that he's not even one person, he's a continually reincarnating role that fits this in-game world's cosmic narrative. As long as major shit isn't breached like the role of the Triforce of courage or giving Zelda Link's characteristics (or vice-versa), what makes Link's gene expression so important?
>...The way you're using it is based on realism.
I'm wasn't that anon who posted that image. But I agree with him.
Realism is in all things. But the degrees in which they're recognize vary from style to style.
We are to understand that Link is a humanoid with 2 legs, two arms, and mostly all human anatomy, except for the long ears. That in of itself is a degree of realism. Otherwise, why not make Link blue, with 3 legs, 5 arms, and he stabs people with a bowling ball?
Sure, that might appeal to some. But for the most part, it's just too random to fit within the Zelda setting, so it's discarded.
As for body types, there are aspects to it that are regarded in the Zelda universe. They wanted to make Ganon looks strong, so in TP, they made him a 9 foot tall mountain. And in WW, he was fat, but also very big in order to make him feel imposing. Even when he turns into a blue pig, they still give him a ton of muscles, because it fits the image of a big strong person.
When you look at the style of the game, it already regards varying body types to give different impressions of the character. Therefore, it stands to reason that if they wanted to make link appear stronger, then a bearmode body type would be more effective than any other.
The thing I'm most excited about from HW is the possibility that Ganon and Ghirahim will become a popular pairing. Link and Ghirahim is way too molestacular for me. Plus I like it when the more feminine-looking guy isn't a stereotypical submissive yaoi dude, and when they're both strong willed.
Thanks for your attention, it's all I'm asking for I guess, if I'm making desperate posts like these. I don't really know what my problem is. I don't even know if it's loneliness or if it's just daddy issues or if I'm just sick of nothing being exciting in the least bit. I guess I just wanna stir shit because I don't really know what to do with myself.
I've talked a bit about this stuff to a close friend of mine, but I'm not sure I really wanna open the floodgates. I've never been the type to talk about myself much like that and I think this is the kind of problem that's just too much to talk to a friend about. I've come to have the reputation of a wildcard amongst my friends, but I honestly don't think any of them want to hear me go on about sex dreams about my dad and how I feel empty all the time. Hell, I don't even know what I'm talking about.
>You just want attention.
>his face looks like martys
>trying to find marty looking through the door reaction image
>google image is giving me megaman/raiden from mgs crossover comic douijin shit
the fuck is going on
>I've talked a bit about this stuff to a close friend of mine, but I'm not sure I really wanna open the floodgates.
See a therapist. They have a confidentiality agreement, so they're not supposed to tell anyone anything unless you give them explicit permission. Plus if they breach that contract you can sue them for a gorillion dollars.
>what makes Link's gene expression so important?
It's not. It's about his image. If you stray too far from what we know Link to look like, then it is no longer Link. Sure, they can give him the same name. But it won't BE the same.
MAYBE in TP, but only if you're really into burly dark gingers.
Probably would be attractive in a more realistic artstyle, but he's in toon form sooo.
You'd be surprised how many fangirls love the Big G. If I had a nickel for every single bishiefied OOT Ganon I've seen, I'd have a whole lot of nickels.
Thanks, again. I really do appreciate it.
As someone whose only experience with therapists was the wide-hipped school counselors back in high school, I think I should at least give this kind of thing a try. But, really, though, I don't think I wanna get better (whatever that entails). I barely know what to do with myself as the empty, whining sack of crap that I am now, what the hell would I do when I don't have all this crap to help me cope with whatever my problem is?
Do you even know how fandom works? Have you seen how many people in these threads waifu unimportant one-shot female NPCs? Why are you assuming it couldn't possibly go in the other direction?
By technicality referencing by real world body types for body types of your designs is push more toward realism than against not. Even in a world of magic and super powers, going by those body is more a nod to realism than not.
Note that I'm not the guy who made the initial comment about realism and vidya. Just sayin' is all.
The advantage of getting a therapist as an adult is that you can shop around. If you are with one who you feel isn't helping you, you can drop them and find another doctor you have better chemistry with. School counselors are hit and miss, and it's not like you can see someone else if you don't like the one you have. Believe me, I know how that feels, even though it was for a completely unrelated issue from yours.
But seriously, therapists aren't just for prescribing medication, but can help you get a game plan going for your life and figure out healthy coping mechanisms and social skills for making friends. The right therapist could change your life for the better.
>I barely know what to do with myself as the empty, whining sack of crap that I am now, what the hell would I do when I don't have all this crap to help me cope with whatever my problem is?
A good therapist will help get you mentally equipped to be able to handle that.
Mikau was hugely important to the story in MM. He was a major character.
Kafei was apart of the largest sidequest in the game, spanning all 3 days, and you got to play as him.
Ralph was a major NPC in the oracle games, you encounter him many times as the plot drives on.
Ralis was a key NPC where Link had to save his life.
I don't know what you're saying.
Gorons are strong, so they ahve big bodies, big muscles, and a bearmode physique.
Zoras swim, so they have a swimmer's physique.
These are real aspects used to styalized fiction creatures within the Zelda universe. There's nothing wrong with using a bit of realism.
So...anyone got more link pics or has this thread just devolved into discussion and arguing?
By the way, the same goes for someone you feel is pushing medications too hard. Stereotypically, people think that therapists just want to dope you up on diazepam, but you actually have a say as to how you want your treatment to go. If you feel like cognitive behavioral therapy will help you more than meds, you can say so and refuse prescriptions. Just be sure to do your research on what type of doctor you're visiting and the methods they typically use to treat patients.
>that doujin/image series where dark link just rocks up and starts blowing regular link
>navi complains so dark link just crushes her in his palm
>goes back to fucking a distressed regular link
not really feminine as much as vaguely androgynous. the new link is obviously feminine, but every variation of link before has leaned towards masculine.
I see your point. Trying to shoe-horn a new race into an established character really is a cheap way of getting diversity on the scene, I think. With the Zelda franchise it at least makes some sense, but in truth I would rather have more new IPs than the same stock we've always had, and more new IPs are the perfect opportunity for organic diversity in characters to develop.
There's nothing about SS Link that seemed really feminine to me. His nose and his physique made him boyish, if lean. That guy who hangs around the Pumpkin Bar to stalk Kina is way girlier.
>but in truth I would rather have more new IPs than the same stock we've always had, and more new IPs are the perfect opportunity for organic diversity in characters to develop.
I can get behind that.
So you resort to boogeyman name calling because I just told you yes other people's interpretations of something are actually involved in answering OP's question and it's stupid to think that they're not involved?
We need a spinoff starring a Gerudo. They're a really cool race that haven't been explored, and it would be a great way to see Ganon as someone other than an antagonist. Maybe like a boogeyman who's used as a cautionary tale for his male successors, or a Bab Yaga figure who helps the main character with magic, but for a price. The main character could be an average Gerudo girl from a prominent tribe who's trying to win the hand of the Prince and become one of his wives. Maybe he gets kidnapped by a violent tribe whose matriarch wants to marry him off to his daughters, and the main character has to rescue him?
5 second clip of his of his very feminine face
I don't dislike the design, but it is feminine
I agree with you. As much as I don't like SS at all I really like SS Link.
Because bodybuilders are considered vain by the Japanese. Why on earth would you put that much effort into sculpting your body if you weren't attracted in some way to the male form?
Holy shit fucking this. I never once thought of link as some girly frail twinky faggot who should be a black girl or some shit. He always came off as an average manlet with long hair
>There's nothing wrong with using a bit of realism.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it. That's why I noted I wasn't the guy who made that comment about realism "killing" video games.
My response was to "Body type =/= realism", in which I said that it is when you are referring to real world body types when making your designs. Even if what your designs take from real body types is minimal, it's more going for realism than if you completely made shit up for those designs. Hence why I don't think "Body =/= realism" isn't an apt rebuttal to "realism kills video games".
OK, let me be clearer about what I meant by "Body type =/= realism".
I'm saying that from a stylistic standpoint, certain images give certain impressions. Even if you throw out logic and reason, a person's instinctual perception will still assume a Goron is physically stronger than a Scrub.
Now, in the world of the game, you can make the Deku able to lift mountains, and the Goron struggle to lift a feather. But the disbelief of the player would have to be not only suspended, but completely forgotten. So making a character a certain body type isn't necessarily about the realistic properties. But it's also about how the player accepts the style.
Aside from Kafei none of them are really that attractive though, compared to Link, and still aside from Ralph none of them are all that important.
Compare them to Saria, Nabooru, Ruto, Malon, Illia, Midna, Impa (in SS) and obviously Zelda. All important cept maybe Malon, and all widely agreed to be attractive. I'm not saying you can't find other guys besides Link attractive, shit, I'm just saying that the girl characters obviously have more thought put into them.
Plus, most female fans really couldn't give less of a shit about any guy but Link and maybe Ghirahim. Maybe you find the random NPCs hot but that doesn't reflect the fandom as a whole.
>I am attracted to women and notice more subtle things about their appearance which makes them attractive
>This must make me an authority on what women find attractive in men and the subtleties of male attractiveness
>why on earth would you put that much effort into sculpting your body
same reason you spend so much time playing video games. If I start to lift weights, I want to see the best results possible, plus it's
>Aside from Kafei none of them are really that attractive though
Completely subjective. The characters I listen are generally seen as attractive. Even if you don't particularly care for them.
>and still aside from Ralph none of them are all that important.
You're exposing how ignorant you are.
Mikau gave you the Zora transformation mask. Which, when you put it on, everyone assumes you are him, You learn that he carries the blood of an ancient hero. He tried to retrieve the eggs that the Pirates stole. It's his band that the manager is setting up for the carnival. You talk to all his close friends and fans, and they all regard him.
Kafei's sidequest is the most infamous in the game. it's the longest one, with the most complex amount of events. Kafei is the first character the player gets to play, who isn't Link.
Ralis's events caused Link to go through an event where he had to protect a wagon on horseback. One of he highlights to that game. He also led you to the Zora's tunic.
>Dude is the exception that proves the rule.
That doesnt make sense.
Never did and it will never make sense.
Power lifters and world strongest men can look like this ,they simply just choose to keep the fat because there's no reason for them to remove it and its easier to just keep the fat on while maintaining muscle mass. Its not like they need to run a marathon.
Fat doesnt make you stronger. That picture is stupid.
You think the upper guy doesnt have a developed core and a weak torso? Really?
Guess what: Majority of people in that class take steroids.
Many of them have higher bodyfat too.
>Guess what: Majority of people in that class take steroids.
>they simply just choose to keep the fat because there's no reason for them to remove it
>Its not like they need to run a marathon.
>Fat doesnt make you stronger.
>That picture is stupid.
HOLY FUCK THAT FUCKING MISINFORMATION
I FUCKING HATE NEWFAGS
The guy is known for being roided as fuck. soz brah.
Many dont have a gut.
Even beyond 105kg weight.
I know. Just pointing it out.
Its no requirement.
>I know. Just pointing it out.
Incomparable, so it's irrelevant.
Mariusz is a phenomenon because he takes steroids. When he isn't roided up for strongman, he goes back to a healthy roundness again like normal strongmen.
Using Olympic weightlifters isn't even comparable.
>Fat doesnt make you stronger.
Only people that are taking UNREAL amounts of steroids can look that cut at be the absolute strongest they can be. Mariusz changed the game by taking what was considered to be unsafe amounts of various substances.
Look at Olympic heavyweight weightlifters. All get tested for steroids. Most take them anyway, but at much more realistic levels versus WSM where there is no testing. All carry substantial fat. And it's not like this comes at no cost. They have to get out of the hole with that extra weight. They carry it for a reason. Fat is anabolic. It allows a person to carry more muscle mass. Now before you go on another one of your ignorant rants, do yourself a favor and do a pubmed search.
>Beats the normal development of Zelda threads.
You mean on-topic discussion?
>At least it's worksafe.
Not a real concern.
>Thread will be deleted soon anyway.
200 more posts until it hits bump limit. And it keeps getting bumped over this offtopic discussion.
Look at the picture you(?) posted.
Then look at guys like Sigmarsson and Ahola.
Those people pop up.
Its not a one time thing.
Not absolute top, but far from bad.
>a person's instinctual perception will still assume a Goron is physically stronger than a Scrub.
That is because that person is making an internal reference to the real world, hence why designing the characters as such is more an appeal for realism unless they don't follow the functional stereotypes set by the real world counterparts, such as in your bit with the strong Deku and weak Goron.
Style is perception. And in accepting a style, you are making an internal reference to your own experience. By doing so, you are allowing yourself to associate with the imagery.
For example: this is why those who grow up listening to country tend to appreciate country music. Those that grow up with rock, tend to appreciate rock music. Their willingness to associate with a certain style, is based on their experience.
So when a person associates to an abstract style, the willingness to do so doesn't come out of a vacuum. There is some experience the person has, which tuned them into the same vibe as that style.
So when a person makes the strong character big, and the weak character small, are they appealing to realism? Or are they appealing to the player's willingness to accept their style?
Take spongebob for example. Nothing about that show is real. However, when spongebob went to the beach and saw all those strong dudes lifting anvils, they were drawn to look muscular. And when spongebob wanted to get stronger, he bought inflatable arms to look muscular. Was all that an appeal to realism? Or was it a way to get the viewer to accept that a talking lobster can lift an anvil, and a sponge can't? At what degree does it become realism?
> the action is always exaggerated, flamboyant and silly like from some shitty cartoon
Are you saying fiction should more resemble reality? Like if you punch a guy while not wearing gloves you're more likely to fuck up the bones in your hand or whatever?
How is that at all fun? Why not just go punch a real guy in the face?
