>Smash 3DS is only 2.1 GB
Wow, couldn't you fucking Sakurai add more tracks instead of that 2 songs per stage bullshit?
Where you fucking afraid you'd run out of space?
2 motherfucking GBs, even fucking REvelations is heavier and it's about the same size as DKCR 3D
Like what the fuck is your problem, Sakurai?
Just because you have a lot of space doesn't mean that you HAVE to use it. Nintendo games usually have low memory because of the loading times. Compare loading in 3D World to loading in Tropical Freeze, then compare sizes.
OP probably never played Uprising.
And Smash 3DS has 40 compositors working on it versus 37 in Brawl. Even if it doesn't reach the 313 songs Brawl had, having two per stage and then some others exclusive to other modes, we might very well break into 200.
And we are not even thinking about the Wii U yet, even though they are brother and sister games.
OP is a gigantic faggot.
>What is compression
Come on now. The game's also going to be available digital, think about that for a moment.
>Come on now. The game's also going to be available digital, think about that for a moment.
Bravely Default is 3gb and is also available digitally, i'm sure this wasn't a issue
>why is japan objectiely the best place to live in the world
Reminder that 3DS cartridges can hold 8GBs
To be more precise, 1.1gb
Hardly the point, just saying that "being afraid of it being too heavy since it'll be available digitally" is probably not something that concerned them
Final Fantasy Tatics for the GBA Advance all the people were yellow
it was really bad i did not like it
I pretty large portion of Brawl was the fact that there were somewhere around 258 songs (not counting minor things like character themes) for the damn thing.
It's been confirmed by Samurai that there's gonna be one or two songs per stage, as opposed to the ten.
SSE's movies also took up a huge chunk. It really seems like Samurai cut off the bullshit and focused on more core things for the 3DS, which isn't too bad, if you ask me.
Well, Resident Evil Revelations did have pre-rendered cutscenes. Seriously, that's why Brawl was so goddamn big. That and the shitload of tracks.
I believe the music itself took a little over 1GB for Brawl.
I'll try my best to explain it. With the game being on a smaller screen with lower resolution, files will be much more smaller.
Textures will be small on size, models have less polygons because of technical limitations so that reduces the size as well.
Music can't be as high quality so it's compressed and gets worse quality, reducing its size by a big margin.
See metal gear solid peace walker for psp. Lots of sound files because they speak alot. The models actually look very detailed for a psp game. Big worlds. Even then it's just 1.4gb.
The DS had games that were 256mb at most even if it was jammed with content (Pokemon black 2 and white 2 have alot of animals in it yet its 144.2mb)
Mario kart 7 is 1gb with 16 tracks on gamecube like quality graphics but smaller screen.
But yeah, why would you get the 3ds version instead of the wii u one.
Other M had a total of four songs. Most of which were just ambience. The credits and alternate title theme were actually pretty good though. Not Yamamoto good, but good.
We'll get Prime songs again, which he did work on.
Old Japan obsessed with military power, Malaysia driven crazy by filthy Sandnigger influence, China are huge troublemakers, Korea keeps stealing Japan's culture, India always ass-backwards.
Nintendo 3DS games are always fucking small compared to other shit.
>low memory because of loading times
No, loading time would correspond to how much you're trying to have accessible in that timeframe (it's not as if Pokemon constantly has every single Pokemon's animations ready in the background), there's no excuse for not bumping up the size of the whole package, especially when the ceiling is 7GB.
>The version with mp3 player mode has less songs.
Here's what I'm hoping for for Pyrosphere's track list:
Ridley's Theme (Other M), which is already in
Phantoon/Queen Metroid's Theme (Other M)
Rundas' theme (Corruption)
Lower Norfair/Magmoor Caverns (Super/Prime), either one would work
Emperor Ing Phase 3 (Echoes)
Extra shit takes more time. They don't just dump the raw tracks onto the system, they change them to suit the audio capabilities of it. A bit rate and format that the console can do without impacting other performance, and sound that comes across properly from its speakers.
Were you bitching about the side of WindWaker HD as well?
Anything that's not a carbon copy of Melee will always be worse than Melee to you people. Sorry that different games in a series are allowed to be different in various ways.
Also sorry that you can't stop worshiping a party game as God's gift to the competitive fighting scene.
It's been 2 months since E3 and we still don't have a concrete release date for Wii U smash bros.
I'm suspecting it will be Q1 2015 which would be shooting themselves in the foot considering the amiibos are another big selling feature they need to make for Christmas holidays.
i'm afraid to see how many hours i have in each smash game.
I'm going to spend $40 on the 3ds and then $100 on the wiiu that comes with the controller adapter, and it will be worth it dammit
Listen here, weeb.
Japan has like the highest cost of living in the world (with video games and DVDs and such in particular they get fucked over hard which is why they often have to bundle stuff in to sell them) and despite what people assume the technology the average person uses is pretty old. Tape decks, VHS tapes, fax machines and kerosene heaters are still common but most people don't have a home computer. I'm also pretty sure that nuclear reactor still hasn't been taken care of and they're still spilling radiation into the ocean (nuclear power is a big thing there and people have been fretting for years about the safety of certain areas of the country). The population density is also pretty high, the people have a bit of a reputation for being xenophobic (especially back and forth with Koreans) and a concern in certain areas is US soldiers being cunts and abusing citizens and getting away with it because they feel like it's their right defending little old Japan.
I didn't count the hours we have on smash on dolphin emulator.
We've been starting to play project m and we love it even more. That horrible tripping is gone and moment carry out with jumps just lovely.
>murrikuh still thinks it's WW2 and they're still occupying Japan
Why is this allowed? I mean, I can kind of understand having a military base there, but why are we still treating Japan like it's a small child that needs to be punished? Why can't they have their own military instead of some shitty defense force?
>Smash 3DS is only 2.1 GB
Lose all hope, fellow Ridleyfags. No way they could have fit him inside those measly 2 gigs of data.
It takes me about 4 hours to download 2 gb on my shitty internet, I have to be up and out to work at 5:30 am, central time on Oct 3rd. Has Nintendo announced any sort of pre-downloading? What timezone do 3DS games in the states use for 'midnight'? I want to have a digital copy of Smash when I get to work that day, to play in the break room with buddies.
I really don't get this fetish of japan hating fucktard pretending to be the Japan expert.
>DURR JAPAN IS XENOPHOBIC
Classic Japan hater. You are clearly xenophobic towards Japan and you accuse the entire Japanese population to be xenophobic.
I hear they're actually going to start having an official military soon, but regardless I'm sure they find it just as beneficial. With the state of the world today it's not like they could start shit up with someone if they wanted to and they couldn't afford to being highly dependent on importing tons of crap (another reason they need the US's assistance).
The point is that there's games that use up the entire disc. There's also tons of games for other platforms that don't use up the entire disc. Do you think every PS3 game is 50GB?
Yeah, totally sounded like I claimed the entire population of Japan was xenophobic huh?
I'm not claiming to be an expert, but you go ahead and refute any of my points. Sounds to be you're the guy who made the stupid assumption Japan was fairytale island and you just want to call me a meanie for saying it isn't.
He's got a good point.
Framerate is going to be effected by the quality models and tracks loaded into RAM and pumped out by the GPU at any one time, not by the total number of tracks at all.
This is the same logic as the "Anon, the computer is slow because you installed too many games" bullshit. If it's not being processed by the game at the moment, it isn't slowing anything down.
I don't think it's really a big issue, though. They're obviously concerned with keeping the game more reasonable for digital downloads.
I can't say that surprises me. 2.1GB probably gets the game onto their most common card size which will be the cheapest which means that the game will print money for them like crazy.
Brawl wouldn't of been that big either without all the movie scenes packed on it. Even with all the music it would barely have been bigger than Melee in needed space. Plus you have to figure that compression methods are much better nowadays.
Your technological illiteracy is showing again /v/....
Nintendo doesn't control the size of either game.
They have completely different audiences. It's entirely possible that Square wasn't as concerned about the download size as Sora Ltd is.
To say that they have the same goals and release strategies because they're on the same system and both downloadable is ridiculous. Most the people buying Bravely Default were physical, but it's entirely possible that Sora expects most sales of Smash to be downloads.
God knows I'm buying the digital download release.
The Mashima's and Bob are obviously God Tier, but besides that, the balance isn't bad.
Virtua Fighter is probably more balanced, but even then, Akira is the best character in the game. GRANTED, you know his one frames.
You can never balance smash, there will always be one char better than the others, and people will still whine about that character like their ass was attacked with a reddening device.
Fucking dumbass tourney fag, Melee is only 1.3GB
>tfw I have the game on the Wii U but I can't play Tekken for shit
the nintendo costumes are awesome though
all 3 smash games could actually be highly balanced with just some small tweaks. 64 is probably the most balanced, Melee could just use buffs/fixes to some of the weaker characters, and Brawl just needed to be tested for infinites/chaingrabs/broken hitboxes (snake) and some minor buffs to the mid tier and lower characters to be overall pretty balanced.
USAF in japan here
all american military in japan are on a curfew in apology for that. there were like two incidents of sexual assault of a japanese citizen in the past. both times were marines on tdy if I recall properly. fucking meatheads ruining everything for everyone as usual
>Brawl just needed to be tested for infinites/chaingrabs/broken hitboxes (snake) and some minor buffs to the mid tier and lower characters to be overall pretty balanced.
Why was no Melee character ever banned by MetaKnight got himself banned in Brawl?
I just bought the 3ds xl bundle.
How fucked am I?
I need to systemtransfer my old 3ds and redownload the game, i still hope this comes delievered on release day because the postman usually fucks it up.
Daily reminder that What Sakurai Thinks Matters.
Let's go over the facts:
>Jigglypuff may or may not be in the game, despite comments made on various websites about technological limitations.
>The filesize of the game is directly proportional to the bandwidth output of the 2DS, which has a 3200hz Wi-Fi antenna as opposed to the standard 3DS 3500hz.
>Many assist trophis will be running at "Interval Speed" (For every odd number of frames the game processes, a divisible number of frames will be processed for assist trophies).
>He has already stated that the game works best with a LAN Adapter.
So, before you start up with your theories based on leaks and the alleged filesize (which based on things we KNOW is likely to change), remember that What Sakurai Thinks Matters.
>implying the heart-rending search for meaning isn't the most thrilling part of living, and that said concept's self-conflicting state as de-facto meaning of life isn't a promise of eternal joy to those lucky enough to become immortal beings
>>The filesize of the game is directly proportional to the bandwidth output of the 2DS, which has a 3200hz Wi-Fi antenna as opposed to the standard 3DS 3500hz.
Huh? Please elaborate.
It's a 9-man tagteam battle where up to 4 players can battle each other. If you lose a stock, you'll respawn as your next character in the roster.
This picture is seen at the end where it is statistically shown which team was more dominant all around.
-and yet Rick and Morty is probably one of the top 5 greatest cartoons ever.
>not buying both versions
None of this "best version" horseshit.
I'm getting both versions because it's Smash and I FUCKING LOVE SMASH
I'm getting it because I'm impatient as fuck and so are my friends. Some of the stages seem cool and so does Smash Run so I'll get my fill of those before the WiiU version comes out and I likely never touch the 3DS version again.
Well this thread has it all. The American Japan expert, the weaboo defenders and the self-hating Asians who think because they are Asian they can speak for all Asian cultures.
mongolia master race
There's no yellow team and Pikachu has those red dots, Rosalina's dress is kinda greenish, but there's no reason to not put Metroid in the place of Wii Fit Trainer, at least his visor is green
Japan's "cost of living" is high if you live in Tokyo or Kyoto. Go to some of the less densely populated areas, and it averages about the same as an average Euro town.
Not to mention many Japs have all that old tech because they want to spend their money on other shit
Speaking from experience, living in Tokyo was better than living in New York, San Fran, London, and Paris in every single way. Best public transit, great food, novel businesses like catgirl sextoy shop and the like, tons of entertainment, and if you have a decent paying job, you can afford the cost of the city.
I am, though.
I'm halfway through my PHD on Technology History focussing on Interactive Entertainment Media.
I'll be one of three people in the world this time two years from now who know everything about videogames.
Phones, video game consoles, video games, xboxhueg Plasma screen TVs, and porn, among other things. People in Japan are more into ero shit, from what I've noticed, than 'murrica. Porn mags are bought by both genders pretty often.
There's also the cost of using trains, which can get expensive if you use them a lot.
Bro, I can read all the hentai I want online without having to wait for a translator. Why would I need a sex doll?
>Consoles are dead in Japan
Most of the houses I've visited here have had at least a PS3/Wii, sometimes they have even more than that.
And the tech thing is different from appliances. Their mantra is "if it aint broken, don't fix it". That's why they have a culture of overworking themselves to death. Its got its flaws, yes but it works. That's how you end up with houses where the only cooling system is a standing fan, and the only heating system is a vaporizer or kerosene.
And let me tell you, summers can be brutal. Often the only places with good air conditioning are workplaces, which also adds more incentive to stay at work. Plus, the stay-late-because-my-boss-is culture leads to a lot of Japs playing vidya in offices.
You've gotta understand that stuff like that is looked down upon just like in the Western world. If someone came into my house and saw my life-like fuck doll of Mikoto-chan, they'd probably be disgusted. Porn mags are a lot more acceptable, since nearly everyone has them, and the best option, overall, is to have it all digitally.
That, and I just don't feel like upgrading. I've got enough porn to sustain me until I die, and if I get tired of watching mosaic-porn, I can always just get on Redtube.
I was thinking on downloading it as soon as it got up in the store goddamn
>pointing like 6 fans at myself right now
every other fucking building has AC why not the places where people actually live
yeah japanese have old as fuck tech because they just don't throw anything away, not because they don't have better tech available
>>I was thinking on downloading it as soon as it got up in the store goddamn
Considering the eShop couldn't survive Awakening coming out, the chances of it being down for Kerfuffle's launch are 100%. And watch, people will still be surprised when it happens 2 months~ down the line.
>Games still coming out for old consoles
>New consoles don't have enough vidya yet, and are expensive
>Handhelds still common as fuck.
>Phones are most commonly flip-phones and not used for games, yet almost everyone has one
Honestly, more people would buy Wii U/Ps4 if they sold more Japan-pandering games. They have different tastes from the West. Metroid sells like dogshit in Japan, but sells, comparatively, fantastically in USA.
>Smash 3DS is 2.1 GB
>Meaning unless you want to deal with download times you have to go physical, which honestly isn't the best idea with a handheld device if you travel a lot
>WOW SAKURAI SO FUCKING LAZY YOU COULD HAVE MADE IT 8 GB GET IT TOGETHER
>Smash Wii U has tons music tracks and high res textures, and will supposedly have all the newcomer videos available
>It may get to maybe 20 GB or so (Tropical Freeze was 11 GB)
>People will complain it takes too long to download or some shit
There's always something to complain about, and I know someone will complain about the Wii U's size, download or not.
Japan housing is tiny. Where am I going to fit Mikoto-chan?
The screen is low res so they can get away with low res sprites.
The speakers are low quality, and so is the audio input (even with good headphones the sound is low), so they can get away with compressed music.
There's no subspace emisary, so there shouldn't be a billion FMV clogging up space.
The card they're using to ship the game in (I'm guessing 4 gb? Unless there's a 3 gb variant) also costs less than one with 8 gb would.
>tfw some of the friends I made in Nihon come to visit me every now and then in my home in Arizona
>their faces when my 2-story, 4-bedroom house that cost me 180 grand
It's great. None of them have ever been inside a livable commode like in 'merrica. So many people here are used to living in houses that the Japs could contain their extended family in.
Unless they live in the country side, housing is usually limited. I knew some well off people who were living in a college-dorm-tier apartment.
I never really went through the country side, other than one of my vacations from Tokyo to Okinawa
Wii U's pretty alright here in the West. It just doesn't have any killed software for Japan, unless you count MH3U.
mobile games are selling everywhere, just like the wii and solitaire, normals love that shit
every console is well in the west because we're techwhores who buy shit just because
and wii u being less shit than the ps4 and xbone doesn't makes it not shit
Akira really is the best character but in VF the difference between the best character and the worst one is like between one tier of characters in other games
there's no Akira in the west that'd consistently beat up any decent japanese player that plays bottom tier - that's how balanced that game is
Of course it will. Melee is a God-tier masterpiece that will never be topped or even equaled. And I'm not just saying that because of how it impressed my 12 year old self when it came out.
>I don't think anyone makes that claim except here though.
Lots of places know gaming is shit now. That's why gaming is so full of negativity now, with devs attacking players, pubs attacking customers, players attacking devs, etc. But unlike the east, the west is an extreme consumer culture. If you don't buy you're seen as less than human, so people keep buying games even though those games fulfill them less and less. Then they take their anger out on the devs or the pubs.
>All these bilingual fuckers living the dream
it's not that great. I'm trilingual (English, Japanese and my home country's language) and it still sucks. Nobody scans raws for the shit I want to read and I don't live in Japan. Importing shit is 2 expensive always etc.
