Snake and Kaz arrive at hospital
>no shrapnel in his head
Snake and Ishamael escaping from the burning hospital
>shortened horn + no mechanical arm
Snake bloody shouting in rage
>long horn + mechanical arm
Snake in the middle east
>short horn + getting used to the mechanical arm
Snake in MGS1
What the hell is going on with that shrapnel? Is his body pushing it out? Which is improvable as it is too damn huge. Is the shrapnel just in Snakes mind?
Why is snake wearing bandages after being in a coma for 9 years, all his wound would have closed up for years by then
Bloody, long horn, mechanical arm. Probably after the middle east gameplay footage.
it's probably being pushed out by his body to serve as a clumsy metaphor for BB's decent into becoming a demon.
Unecessary bandages are a japanese/animu trope
A brain can't push a 10cm shrapnel from itself, not to mention he would be dead by now.
And anon who knows what centers of his brain were scrambled due to the shrapnel? And how he'll go insane due to it?
I doubt it's being pushed out. I assumed that it started long and they filed it down or something, but the timeline of when all this happened is too hard to tell from the trailers.
>Metal Gear series known for accurate realistic portrayals of battlefield injuries.
Come on anon, this is fucking MGS. Is something has to be unrealistic for storyline purposes it fucking will be
Shortening it down doesn't work because of his left arm.
>bloody snake, long horn, already has the mechanical arm
>fire hospital, shortened horn, no mechanical arm.
>middle east snake, just got the mechanical arm as he can't use it properly yet.
The hospital escape is before the middle east footage, the hook he has is a basic prosthetic arm.
It is still weird why a man who's lying in bed for 9 year have a prosthesis attached.
I'm saying that that part was developed before the story was complete and so might not be consistent with how the final game will be. Maybe in the final game Snake will have a long piece of shrapnel in his head in the hospital. Maybe it's inconsistent because Kojima wants to throw off any speculating about the story of the game. There's tons of possible reasons.
So what will phantom pain be about? All we know about it is
Big Boss wakes from a coma 9 years after ground zeroes and joins Ocelot's PMC, diamond dogs, but that's just the very beginning of the game.
Is he pulling another MGS2 and only using the very beginning to market the game?
>"Nothing to be ashamed of. Pain get's the better of us all" quote from the MSF prisioner in Camp Omega
>Chico's unexplained freakout when he sees Snake's face.
>All the inconsistencies between Big Boss and Venom Snake
A Big Boss look alike is pretty much confirmed
Some people are saying that there's too much focus on Quiet and Joosten for her to just be a minor character/boss character. People are saying she might be the actual protagonist. Not sure how believable that is though.
It's shrapnel. Or at least that's the most likely explanation. Maybe Kojima is pulling something here as well.
Makes sense, the whole hospital sequence is weird and out of place, the "leak" also said the hospital won't be in the game.
He can use to stab you in the dick.
It is most likely about the seed planted into BB by Volgin sprouting, turning him into the man he becomes in the end.
>Volgin confirmed for major role, not even ocelot has a figurine
Could be, he still doesn't even have a scar in MGS2.
Possible, not confirmed.
Quiet has a lot of focus on her, she'll probably be a companion.
"leak" says it's after BB kills a good amount of civilians in an attack.
It's the moment he realizes what he has become and inherits Volgin's memes over The Bosses.
It bother me so much that they decide to make a big deal out Volgin just like that.
I understand he is the ultimate reason to why Snake had to kill the Boss, but it's never mentioned until now
He basically killed The Boss the moment he nuked the research facility.
He also tortured BB, made him pee his pants.
Sexually harassed him, took his innocence from him.
Snake even gets a nuclear warhead armed Metal Gear
just like Volginto gain power and stir shit up.
Big boss has a codec call in 1 near the end with solid snake doesn't he? I am not sure about 2 though. Only played it once not long after its release so I don't know shit about 2 anymore.
He's the only MG villain to archive his goal of overthrowing the government and passed his memes to BB who shaped the MG universe, Volgin is possibly the most influential person in Snakes life after Zero.
It actually happens. Your body will naturally push out shrapnel if some of it is outside the body.
I had a 4 inch long piece a few inches from my balls that they decided removing would be dangerous and we let it work it's way out.
You know, MGS 1 is kind of the odd man out in the series. While 2 and 4 are almost straight up Sci Fi and 3 and Peace Walker take a lot of influence from James Bond, MGS 1 is more or less a straight up Tom Clancy riff with a few fantastical elements.
You couldn't explore your base in 3D in PW but you can in MGSV. So yeah, you can design your base however you want, I assume in a certain area, and then between missions you can walk around it and interact with soldiers and stuff. And anything you fulton during missions will go back there and physically exist in your base. One of the things they showed for instance was Snake fultoning a sheep and then it being at his base when he went back.
So, will we get to pilot and/or build a Metal Gear in Phantom Pain?
I hope so. I want a Metal Gear battle in a large, open area. And this time it hopefully won't run at 20 fps. At least on PC it won't, and I imagine they would make it so that the console version drops as little frames as possible.
I know all of this, but it's never mentioned or acknowledge until Big Boss' dream/whatever on the hospital and PP overall. It just comes out of the blue and it feels weird, seems like Kojima remembered what Volgin did and thought he could do something with it until MGS V
MGS2's AI is pretty damn good. Just patrolling they's obviously stupid so you don't get caught all the time but if you run into a room to hide for instance after getting caught the AI will actively sweep the room you ran into, looking in every place you could be. Also, enemies will run behind cover and call for backup before engaging you.
I thought BB has the shrapnel already embedded in the hospital part when they're trying to resuscitate him.
IMO the helicopter crash part from GZ is a red herring, and Chico will end up blowing up or doing something stupid which will almost kill Big Boss. Proof?
In one of the early trailers for PP Snake is shown looking outside of the helicopter with part of his face burnt.
The face burning comes from Paz blowing up since his face is clean before that. After Paz blows up the heli starts spinning right away and the supposed crash occurs. But that's a herring, the helicopter will miss them.
Then the mentioned scene with Snake looking outside will be shown. They might land or something and BOOM, Chico fucks himself to pieces. Notice how the jack in his chest was never explained.
i think its this part where he gets the shrapnel. it honestly does not look like a piece of metal but more like a rock.
>implying the leak is real
>implying we're going to be retards and not buy the game so Konami can not release future MGS games (or games in general) on PC
Well I can't speak for others but I hope too many people don't think like this and fuck over future support.
>AI since around HL2
There's been more advanced AI even before HL2 came out.
The MGSV threads are so convoluted that very few would be right. Even if they were, it would just be opinion.
Even Ground Zeroes gave us wrong info.
Wouldn't the doctors take off Miller's glasses when they operate him, freeing the host?
Maybe that's why he is in Afghanistan. Finally free from the glasses control, he gets the fuck out of dodge and is eventually captured by the Soviets (he has no knowledge of the world because the glasses have been in control his entire life, meaning he is mentally a child).
I don't know op, i think the shrapnel is already on his head during the hospital scene.
That is in the head of the medic, also known as "what about him" guy. He has the horn and you will play as him. Seriously, think about it. Why would the medic and Big Boss has Kiefer as their voice actor, that can't be just to save money.
So it's most likely that at one point Kaz and Diamond Dogs will betray Big Boss, and part 2 of the game will be about Big Boss forming Outer Heaven in Southern Africa with Skull Face and building TX-55 Metal Gear
yfw the post-game content is invading other players' custom-built version of Outer Heaven to destroy Metal Gear
as Solid Snake
>yfw the post-game content is invading other players' custom-built version of Outer Heaven to destroy Metal Gear as Solid Snake
People think Miller got disgusted by BB and left, however this doesn't make much sense. In the trailer you see Miller smack a kid with his cane, so he is not exactly an angel himself. Miller betraying BB is not that far off of an idea if you listen to the secret PW audio tape and understand exactly what kind of person he is.
>Looks the same
>Kaz hasn't aged
>XOF still hunting him
>Morpho still alive
>Hasn't lost nearly 9 years of muscle mass
>Bandages clearly from the crash
>Ocelot looks older to ruse him
>Still using iDroid
>Kaz using the remnants of MSF, still
Snake wasn't in a coma for 9 years, he was drugged for 9 weeks and the foreign Doctor got his words mixed up
>Why is snake wearing bandages after being in a coma for 9 years, all his wound would have closed up for years by then
Look where the bandage is. It's from a bleeding eye socket from an eye he shouldn't have. It's as if he just had that eye removed...
Are you guy retarded, how the hell does he look the same, look at his atrophied body, he looks like he's escaping from Auschwitz.
I think BB falls in a come twice from GZ to the middle east gameplay footage.
>GZ chopper crash
>Coma (no horn, lost an arm)
>Gets mechanical arm and goes on a murderous rampage/builds 1st motherbase
>Get shrapnel to the head (long horn)
>9 "year" coma
>Shrapnel is shortened during the 2nd coma
>Middle east gameplay he's trying to make his wrongs right
>Quickly masters the mechanical arm as he used it before
Or it could be and implant for Venom Snake. Decoy O.
>Raiden and Snatcher
>best idea ever, outside of putting Gillian Seed in
>literally gunning down bio-snatchers as BB but faster
Fucking hell Kojima, why couldn't you try and make it detective, or put some slashing in, or put GILLIAN FUCKING SEED IN.
Daily reminder that Kojima will never make any sequel to any franchise he has that isn't MGS.
I realize now I should have flipped it to have the horn on the left
Kojima would be the greatest developer of all time
GZ would have you believe that Big Boss went to 9 year long coma right after it's ending.
In latest trailer we clearly see that snake, with shalpel in his head, burying his soldiers.
Do you think they would keep soldiers unburied for 9 years just to wait for BB?
I think that BB goes in to coma and somebody takes his place.
MGRR sold well enough for GZ and TPP to come on PC even if it was Platinum, Kojima takes a big percentage.
I myself won't buy any of those games as I'm a dirty pirate, maybe I'll get the collectors edition of TPP though.
That new Korra game is also coming to PC, I assume because MGR did pretty well on PC.
Sure he did. If the game is announced at TGS to come out before the end of the year (which is also what he said) then I'll start believing it. I do think a release date will be announced at TGS though.
I don't doubt that it will come out, my dick will shatter space and time the day it get's a reveal, but that's not Kojima doing it.
Kojima is too focused on MGS, it's heart-breaking.
ZoE3 or Snatcher 2, all I ask.
Look at his arms and legs, go watch the footage to see how skinny and weak he is.
He's burring the soldiers killed after Kaz betrays him. And his horn which he got in the Kaz betrayal get shortened after that.
Rising is confirmed to be cannon, a sequel is inevitable.
>mfw that poll for Rising 2
>mfw all those pics with Platinum team.
It's coming, and soon. Platinum will work on it, while Kojima will focus on other projects, just like they did with MGRR while he was focused on TPP.
Did you know MGRR was made in under 1 year? It was obviously an experiment to see if PC is a profitable platform now that steam is out.
>Big Boss' alleged body in MGS4 was actually Solidus
>Your face when the reason Big Boss did such a god damn good job staying alive while thought of as comatose is because its already happened to him once before, in MGS5.
But Anon, MGR was made for consoles in 1 year because Kojipro fucked their version up so much that Kojima trusted another company rather than his own team.
It then got ported to PC, very nicely for a Jap.
Does anyone have the sales figures for consoles and PC sales for MGR?
I mean, considering PSfags are MGS weeaboos and PCfags have a lot of pirates, I will be surprised if PC got more sales.
In any case, as long as PS3 and PC get MGR2, all is well.
>Kaz knew about the attack on MSF
>Skull Face is a new character to the series
>Code Talker is The Boss' father
>Code Talker dies
>New character called Ham, black guy who knows shit about guns and will tell you about them
>None of the guns in TPP are real and are mish-mashes of real ones. /k/ BTFO
>Metal Gear Zeke Confirmed
>BB recruiting Liquid babby Snake confirmed
>Quiet dies half-way in the game
>Quiet is not chico
>Chico dies. Skull Face slits his throat in front of BB
>Skull Face was rescued by the BB and The Boss in the past, that's how they know each other
Can't remember the rest, but this was "Leaked" yesterday. dunno if real or not.
Also it's fucking crazy how much of a rip off Skullface's character is of Goda from GiTS
>People think MGS is multiplat because of good sales and not because of the colossal financial failure of sony and how their future has been up in the air since mid ps3 era or how Xbone is selling like Icecream in Antarctica. this coupled with bloated production costs of games and consoles
>the guy in the hospital is Decoy Octopus or someones similar tricked into being BB.
>Ishmael is a hallucination of his old self, he appears as he was after the facial surgery but before he was brainwashed
>>Skull Face was rescued by the BB and The Boss in the past, that's how they know each other
He also knows Paramedic.
Those who don't exist are Paramedics creation.
>Extraterrestrial Environment Special Forces
The Extraterrestrial Environment Special Forces, also known as Black Ninja, was a special forces unit secretly formed by NASA, which envisioned future conflicts in outer space. The members of the group were technologically advanced ninja-like soldiers, outfitted with experimental flex armor and reflex-enhancing drugs. However, the unit was disbanded before it saw action, due to its controversial nature, and was regarded as being too dangerous to exist.
>due to its controversial nature, and was regarded as being too dangerous to exist.
>Those who don't exist.
I think that the sales of MGR had at least something to do with it, yes. It does seem like exclusives are getting more and more rare though, I assume from what you're talking about as well as the payment from Sony/Microsoft not being enough to make up for dev costs, regardless of if they're from inefficiency or whatnot.
Having a large file size doesn't mean it's a bad port. The file size is purely from the use of prerendered cutscenes, in fact they're the same cutscenes used in the PS3 version of the game.
>Why is snake wearing bandages after being in a coma for 9 years, all his wound would have closed up for years by then
Because Kojima knows absolutely nothing about science or medicine
>Kaz knew about the attack on MSF
His reaction on the chopper is a direct contradiction, congrats.
>None of the guns in TPP are real(...)
We already knew that.
>Metal Gear Zeke Confirmed
We already knew that.
>BB recruiting Liqud babby
We already knew that.
Yadda yadda, fuck off with the leak.
The best thing about Phantom Pain is that Master Miller was my favorite character in the franchise after playing through PW. And he gets horribly fucked over and probably will betray BB like an asshole.
A shitty homemade grenade some asshole threw on the roof of the shack I was taking a nap in, it threw a piece of tin roof through the brim of my baseball hat, down through a pouch I had on my vest and into my thigh.
>not even in the military, just security
>not sporting a completely average and adequate 8 incher
Nothing wrong with that. But saying stupid shit like Code Talker is Boss' father is fucking retarded. Dude's clearly fucking indian and MGS stated that the last of the Philosophers died at the beginning of the 20th century.
Yes well, "security" can mean many things.
How do you know he is Indian? He looks pretty white to me.
Oh, and for the record. I know you're trolling me, just throwing it out there for those who want to read up.
>Wake up at 7:00 AM
>Light is slightly pouring in through windows
>Reach over to nightstand to check phone
>See this sitting next to your nightstand, staring into the depths of your soul
>Begins to draw in nearer to you
How does this make you feel?
Rent it. Unless you plan on finding everything, it's not worth buying.
Hell, I wouldn't say it's worth playing because the silenced/non-lethal approach is so fucking abysmal and neutered that it ruins the entire point of being non-lethal/sneaky.
I'll buy both GZ and TPP to support MG on PC despite never buying a game in my entire life, feels good having a job.
I am a little disappointed they're not coming in a bundle.
Also what are the chances of the MGSV experience having a 3rd installment?
No, but seriously, was I doing something wrong with the non-lethal in this game?
It felt like every engagement happened at such a long range that using a pistol with shitty aim was useless. Getting closer wasn't really an option as to get closer you would have to move forward, an option you can't really get away with without neutralizing some guards, which was hard as fuck to do with just your shitty pistol. What was I missing?
The tranq pistol makes the game(s) easy as fuck though anon. There's essentially no range restriction on it in any of the games and it's a one hit knockout if you hit the head.
The man who wakes up in the hospital is Skullface, not Big Boss.
Ocelot is not Ocelot, but really The Boss.
In the final game, that sequence will be Snake and The Boss saving Skullface.
Kindof like how the MGS2 trailers only showed Snake but switched him out with Raiden.
It's really hard to hit the heads, though. I dunno, I'm guessing it was because the 720p had to be upscaled to 1080p and made it less crisp and therefore harder to aim or something? I don't know, I just had lots of trouble with actually hitting the heads.
Also is that Big Boss in the video? He has an eye patch on his right eye.
I can't stop listening to this angelic song, downloading MGS1 and 2 as we speak, played them a little as a kid, but can't remember much as I didn't speak english at the time.
Wanted to leave them after TPP but what the hell I must play this again.
I want another sniper fight. Also a Metal Gear vs Metal Gear (or the weapon to surpass Metal Gear) battle.
I hope that leak isn't true and you can't just extract and not have to do boss battles.
>You know the tranq pistol has significant bullet drop, right?
I'm the other guy but did they add this in GZ? Because there's no bullet drop in 2 or 3 when using it that I remember. And I only played GZ long enough to beat the main mission.
>did they add this in GZ?
Yeah, it's their way of making non-lethal less gamebreaking. You could quite literally snipe enemies from across the map with the tranq pistol in previous games.
The weapon to surpass Metal Gear is obviously the clones or possibly Raiden, as he mentioned he was saved by Big Boss as a child.
But yeah Metal Gear battles/piloting is bound to happen as we see snake ride a small mech in the trailers.
I think we'll starting to have way to many expectations guys...
Kojima promised to raise the bar for gaming again so there's a lot to expect.
I know, but getting close specifically with non-lethal is hard as fuck.
The scenario I was thinking of was with the fence at the beginning of the main mission, where you had to take out the light or the guard manning it, but there was also a patrol walking around the dirt path who would spot you if you tried to get close enough to actually shoot the guard on the light. It was tough as fuck because you couldn't flank either of them, and to actually get close enough to the guard post to shoot him required you to snipe the head of the (possibly multiple) patrolling guard(s), which you couldn't fucking do because of the fence. It was difficult.
You take out the guard on the tower by climbing up the rock ledge to the right of the tower and flanking him. Then you drop down from the ledge into the base, bypassing the fence, and take out the other two guards from behind.
There's so many ways to approach each individual guard in GZ, let alone the actual objectives.
I didn't know at the time that you could go up that rock ledge, much less without getting caught by the spotlight. Thanks, I should check it out when it comes to Steam and try to replay it.
>Sexually harassed him, took his innocence from him.
kek, he was to innocent to even join the cobras, he looked a boobs at every single chance he would get, Volgin tortured him, made him pee his pants and basically raped him.
I wouldn't be surprised that they'd reveal in TPP that he was actually raped by Voling, he does see him as his biggest fear, hance the burning hospital.
PO comes after MGS3, before PW.
Play it if you want, I consider it better than PW, and the bosses are actual bosses and the story isn't half bad.
It's been somewhat semi-canoned, but.
the timeline goes
Portable Ops (not considered canon)
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
MGS (Play the playstation one, fuck Twin Snakes)
Peace Walker and Portable Ops have the cutscenes done just like the video
Does Revengeance have anything to do with the timeline or the universe.
I've only ever played 3 so I really know nothing about the MGS world
Because Big Boss was actually a pretty based guy, he was a veteran of korea and he doesn't give a fuck about the gooks he killed back then, he was with the Green Berets that implies he also killed a lot of vietnam fucking shits(even after the death of the boss he goes back to vietnam to kill even more gooks and save eva)he was part of FOX a black ops group of the CIA he probably killed a lot of people in secret operations and even after that he was still happy, making jokes and having a normal life, killing the boss was the thing that actually broke him.
I want the remake(s) to be from Big Boss' perspective.
>In 1961, Jack carried out covert operations alongside Python during the early stages of the Vietnam War, before America officially participated.
And even if that it's not canon I have more
>By late 1964, Jack had been awarded the Army Achievement Ribbon, the Good Conduct Ribbon, Defense Distinguished Service Ribbon, Korean Service Ribbon, a ribbon that resembles the Vietnam Service Ribbon, and the Distinguished Service Cross Ribbon, along with several others. At some point between 1962 and 1964, he joined Major Zero's FOX unit.
>Some time after Big Boss joined the Patriots, he participated in a mission in 1971 to rescue EVA, who was in Hanoi. He successfully found and recruited her into the Patriots.
The only interviews I've seen have Kojima waving it off as a spin-off, he even expressed how he didn't care what Platinum Games did with the gameplay and story for that very reason. Head canon is not actual canon.
I wouldn't consider MGS2 a SS game at all, and I'd probably combine GZ and TPP into one game. The series is basically about Big Boss now, for better or worse, and I'm okay with that. I remember playing MGS1 and really wanting to know more about him. It's interesting to see how "villains" ended up where they are. I hope we get a glimpse of that with Major Zero.
MGS3 still plays pretty well, all things considered. I doubt Kojima really wants to do a remake of any of the games, but MG has to be at the top of that list.
If you like the cutscenes so much you should consider getting "Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel"; it's a Graphic Novel of the first two MGS if I'm not mistake; the same guy that did it did those cutscenes
Solid is not even a real human being, he comes from a bottle and all his life is a lie, he's just a tool not a person.
Also Raiden will be in TPP, we'll rescue him as BB.
Haha oh god, I never heard that. Well, here's hoping that never happens.
What we're all really waiting for is the definitive reboot of the series:
Metal Gear: Revolver.
Kojima effectively de canonized the Portable Ops experienced by stating that "some things are canon, others are not". This means you can't play Portable Ops and think it's what actually happened.
I'll check it online, I think the guy who made them is Yoji Shinkawa, the one who makes the covers and designs the characters, he's a pretty cool guy.
It was more like it's all canon but some things don't match up since he personally didn't write it. You can effectively treat a couple bits of the story as typos which can be said about pretty well every single game regarding the canon.
It is canon.
The truth is much more complex anon.
He is a genetically manipulated fetus cloned from BB, his life is a lie, he is seen as weapon only.
He'll NEVER EVER be a real person, his own man.
He's not even a perfect clone for fucks sake.
I don't think the ridiculous Gray Fox super ninja backstory counts as a typo, or Sokolov, or Gene giving Big Boss the funds for Army's Heaven that are never seen again, or Metal Gear RAXA that is never mentioned in Peace Walker even when it should.
This doesn't explicitly state that what they're working on is MGO. It says: "several core members of our studio in Tokyo that were involved in the development of Metal Gear Online are working hand in hand together with Japan and LA."
The article kind of goes out of it's way not to call it MGO, but a "multiplayer mode". Which was what they just unveiled.
MGO still isn't confirmed
This is good, isn't it?
Oh he spent it huh? Your apologetics are funny. Peace Walker makes a conscious effort to completely ignore Portable Ops's story at every turn for a reason.
These are the only things confirmed that you should actually listen to.
>Big Boss, Zero, and Skull Face have a backstory
>Chico is a fucking rat
>Ocelot and Big Boss are friends
>Heuy presumably sold out MSF (though he could have legit thought it was an inspection and gets tortured all the same)
>Eli might be Liquid (chances high)
>Kaz gets captured
>Big Boss is in Coma #580240234
>Big Boss begins hallucinating as evident by Burning Man/Volgin and Sky Whales/Moby Dick
>ZEKE is REX
>Quiet gets tortured (probably includes rape)
>Keifer Sutherland is drunk
Now you are just making shit up. It tries to ignore MGS3 now? Is that why the story recap in the beginning is ALL MGS3? Is that why when Huey mentions bipedal tanks, Snake's first thought is Granin and not the huge MG RAXA he supposedly destroyed in PO? Or why there are numerous references to events in MGS3 throughout the countless cassette tapes and NOT ONE of MPO?
4. Liberian Civil War started in 1989, it's presumed Raiden was born in 1980, as Solidus had him cut off the heads of terrorists when he was 10, one for each age. Which probably took place in 1990, since the war lasted until 1997. 5 is the oldest he can be in 1984, making him born in 1979, if he was 10 in 1989.
Eli(Liquid)/David(Solid) are 12 years old in TPP, and George(Solidus) is 8 (probably looks about 15 or older).
Yes, BB rescued Raiden as a child. And as we know Raiden was a badass murderous psychopath kid, feared by soldiers and civilians alike.
He'll be probably Liquid though.
"the weapon that'll surpass metal gear"
LS; "In the middle east we don't hunt foxes, we hunt jackals"
The game takes place both in Africa and the middle east, so Eli could be any of the two.
Also Raiden surpasses a Metal Gear by far in all aspects.
Eli is Liquid, the Japanese characters on his back even say Liquid Man.
The Patriots 'rescued' Raiden after Solidus put him into a relief home.
Also it's clear it's Liquid, considering he has a necklace of Jackal's teeth around his neck and he's actually alluded to him having been in contact and trained with Big Boss before.
Pure deception. Dr. Strangelove was distraught about The Boss's death and created a computer AI that replicated The Boss's mind, that's nowhere close to ignoring, but rather stupidly expanding on MGS3's story.
I was thinking about the "those who don't exist" soldiers and how we can fulton soldiers in the game.
Then it occured to me that they might only appear during sandstorms or bad weather and we can't use the fulton, or they just flat out block the fulton feature on those soldiers.
Those soldiers also have the same complexion as code talker. "Those who don't exist" was also used as a name for the philosophers. Maybe Code Talker is a captured soldier / philosopher?
During the 60-80s the US and USSR were working on ways to use powered exoskeletons to have a one up in the war.
Hardiman was the first real attempt, although incredibly unsuccessful, they did manage to eventually recreate some very loose and basic exoskeletons (highly impractical mind you), and they referred to them as loosely as "Those who don't exist."
No it's not. Deja Vu/Jamais Vu completely disregard it. You can erase every single canon MGS logo, and not the ones that aren't canon.
MG1, MG2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, MGS: PW, MGS;GZ, MGS: TPP
SR, Touch, MGA, MGA2, MGS: GB, MPO, MGR:R
>tough as fuck
all you literally have to do is move to the fence on the left, go prone, crawl and time it so you miss the spotlight, get into the bushes, and continue crawling until you can climb up the watch post.
i figured this out in literally 10 seconds
Solidus breaks three Rays, iirc. Raiden like twenty, depending on the difficulty setting, takes out dozens of Gekkos, stops Haven, and goes totally bat-shit ballistical in MGR.
I actually like the theory of Big Boss finding out about Les Enfants in V and how he would consider these abominable children of his as "weapons". It's repeated numerous times in the series that he never had love or sympathy for the kids, only respect for their capabilities.
I think Rising is canon. It references MGS4 heavily and doesn't not make sense anywhere, considering you could go pretty much anywhere with the story after MGS4. All the Snakes are dead and The Patriots are gone. Anything can become canon as long as it doesn't contradict. The only thing that contradicts is that Raiden has red blood for some reason. It is four years later though, maybe they just add food coloring now.
It's ridiculously over the top, but Metal Gears that take place after MGS1 always became more and more over the top anyway. It's just the future and Metal Gear's future just gets crazier and crazier.
I was that faggot until recently. I just beat it today. Glad I did, didn't think I was into these sorts of action games, but I was very surprised. Maybe I'll try out Devil May Cry or something too.
Metal Gear Solid is the one with Psycho Mantis, yet. Big Boss is not in that game at all. At most he's mentioned at some point. Metal Gear 1 and 2 came out in the 80s (1990 I think for MG2 actually) while Metal Gear Solid came out in 1998. In both Metal Gear games you infiltrate a place where Big Boss is (Outer Heaven being one of them) and then he's the final boss of both games.
DMC is completely different and WAY WAY shittier.
MGRR raised the bar, too bad it was made in less than a year I want moar.
>dat boss fights
Dayum it was good.
Yeah, it was. Glad it was a Metal Gear game or I never would have considered it. I expected it to be panned, but everyone loved it. And for good reasons, I've come to find. I hope for a sequel too. Even if I don't really care for the Metal Gear universe from 2010 on, it's still nice that it does take place within a universe where I get all the references.
Fun fact: The original reason for "white blood" was the Japanese censorship system. They couldn't have dismemberment with humans in the game, so Raiden's blood was changed white.
This is also the case in the Japanese MGR. All the cyborgs bleed white. Sam's death scene is a huge deal in this case, because he still has his original, red human blood in him and upon defeat smirks, glancing at his blood and savoured humanity. This is also how Raiden is able to tell Sam "barely had any cyborg enhancements".
They completely retcon this in the western release though, having all blood red just for the sake of it, calling the white blood "obsolete".
Just because of the name? Of course I don't think of espionage while playing MGR. I already played all the MGS games. I played it as a fun action game and I'm hyped for MGS5 as my espionage and base building game.
>no horn or scar
Yeah it gets too sci-fi I honestly prefer their universe in MGS3/PW/GZ and TPP.
The technology is not too advanced, people with super powers are used for military purposes, there is conventional warfare and familiar realistic enviroments.
It's only a good thing, though. The game would have sold just for being a Platinum game anyway, so it's not like it was done to sell more. And the game did start off as something closer to a MGS title. So I don't think there was any ill intent by slapping "Metal Gear" on it, like there was for Starfox Adventures. It's actually a plus for me. It's a universe that's already familiar. It's about the lamest time period of the Metal Gear universe, but at least it was something I was familiar with.
I didn't say that, Metal Gear Acid is a great example of different gameplay in the same franchise while still retaining it's soul. Rising on the other hand is a very different beast.
Is this anyone elses favorite trailer also? Red Band and the most recent one were amazing but I don't know, this one has this strong sentiment attached to it somehow. Like it's so much more personal than the other two.
I don't know, it was pretty well established that Raiden is an action hero that slices shit up with a sword in 4. And even before that the last hour of MGS2 was slicing niggas up with a sword. It's not like the game came out of nowhere.
Acid was a fucking disappointment because it was the first Metal Gear on a PSP and I expected a Metal Gear game, not a turn based card game. Which is much more retarded of an idea than making it an action game.
MGS already had an actiony character that wielded a sword, so it's not that strange for that to happen. Nowhere in Metal Gear were people waiting around and taking turns to do shit. I love turn-based games with all of my heart, but it has no place in Metal Gear.
>talks about closed-mindedness
>says MGR shouldn't exist because an action game with an established actiony character apparently doesn't make as much sense as a turn based card game
>Chico dies. Skull Face slits his throat in front of BB
Fucking hell, that imagery.
not to bitch, because I'm looking forward to the game too, and I love Big Boss, but
remember when MGS3 was the only prequel where you played as Big Boss, and how perfect of a send off it was to the games later in the timeline just with game's ending, no more Big Boss?
I'm not the guy you quoted. The guy you quoted is arguing that MGR makes sense because Raiden was already established as an action character. The guy he's arguing with says that Acid, a turn based card game, makes more sense to the series than MGR because it "retains the soul of the series" somehow that MGR doesn't.
This game is going to give people PTSD. With all the stuff that is apparently going to happen in the game I'm surprised it's only going to be M rated. Kojima warned everyone that the game would be pretty graphic in its content though.
Actually, the way Raiden speaks to Snake during Act 2 shows that he hasn't abandoned stealth but has instead gotten much better at it, the only times we see him fighting is when Old Snake is already surrounded and backed into a corner, and even then Raiden couldn't get himself out of a pile of rubble without cutting off his arm or hold Arsenal Gear without getting squished. And nothing in MGS2's ending is Revengeance flavored.
we can't trust anything we see in the trailers. Avi Avrad confirmed this. Just remember Big Boss choking Chico in Ground Zeroes. Remember when you realized what was actually happening there? We're gonna feel like that for EVERYTHING we see in the Phantom Pain trailers when the game releases.
A turn based card game that is still a tactical espionage game at heart. MGR is a Hack and Slash game with an anime cliché riddled story, which is funny seeing how MGA is the one with the anime art.
>Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is a stunning presentation. The trailer is full of symbolism and philosophy that we come expect from Mr. Kojima. Although cleverly disguising the story and therefore making the trailer enticing, Mr. Kojima makes sure to include enough visuals to make us comfortable that we are in for a new Metal Gear experience.
>Although cleverly disguising the story and therefore making the trailer enticing
>everyone's face when they go in blind and halfway through the game Hayter shows up
And as I've already said I'm not against that, I'm against the idea that Rising meets the criteria for being a relevant part of the series that should be taken seriously. I actually wish for Rising 2 to be even more ridiculous and over the top than the first, so it will become clearer and clearer to everyone, especially newcomers, that the games with "Rising" in the title are completely different from the rest of the franchise.
Okay, I've got it all figured out.
Real Big Boss
(voiced by Hayter)is in South Africa, building Outer Heaven.
Fake Big Boss
(voiced by Sutherland)is in the Middle East, building Diamond Dogs. He eventually goes crazy and Real Big Boss puts him down like a dog, taking his place and taking control of both Other Heaven and Diamond Dogs. Diamond Dogs then becomes FOXHOUND. This perfectly leads into Metal Gear 1.
This goddamn thread will never end. I posted that thing hours ago. I feel like I've been in this thread all day, and maybe I have.
To answer your question, yes, it is from the Mother Base infiltration footage they showed at Gamescom.
>End of PW
>Wants everyone to call him Big Boss
>Everyone calls him Snake in GZ
The entire Hospital section is Big Boss in Hell.
It's why Volgin is there, he's become a demon and set out after BB.
Same with Paz. She's dressed up in Psycho mantis gear, as she is a manipulator and earned her spot in hell after what she did.
Also why Paz and Volgina re riding on a flaming horse, and the fiery whale.
The military invading the hospital is BB being forced to relive the events of his comrades being killed, but he's completely helpless to stop them this time. He is forced to watch them die while living on himself.
I have no idea who Ishimal is, other than maybe Chico trying to pull BB out. Or the last remaining part of BB's humanity, who gets killed later on, meaning BB crosses over fully by the end of it.
Cipher sent him to hell, but he's going even deeper. He isn't afraid of Hell anymore. He's already a demon.
David Hayter said he was laid off by a Konami employee and had to pay for lunch. Doesn't that sound quite ridiculous?
Also he gave his voice for the Metal Gear 1 Remake project that was recently shut down by Konami.
when you think about it, every character in the game is dead of the end of 4. that would be bitchin if it turned out that waking up from the coma = Big Boss waking up in Hell and not realizing it until the end.
Wouldn't ever happen, but it would be neat.
>he had to pay for lunch
This has me in tears. Goddamn, that is good stuff. Too funny.
That remake project was getting too close to the real thing. I can't believe it got approved in the first place. Like I said elsewhere, it would be like DC allowing someone to make their own Batman comic as long as they didn't make money off of it.
If any of that is remotely true, I will quit video games forever and never look back.
This has been an awesome thread. I've laughed, I've argued with a faggot or two, I've loved. I'll see it out.
Because it makes the writing in the scene of your pic seem like War and Peace.
The trailers have referred to Big Boss in this game as both Punished Snake and Venom Snake. A lot of people think this indicates that Big Boss and Venom/Punished Snake are at least two different people.
Well it would transition genres to full sci-fi/horror, which isn't a good idea. Why would there need to be a game if Big Boss is in Hell? Why would there be a base to infiltrate? It's really just taking a few lines of dialogue we've seen in the trailers and running with them.
It's just out of place.
Is it possible that Konami wants the project for themselves? That they planed the remakes with the current technology?
They worked together for years, SS had a lot of impact on Hayters life, like he said the X-Man were possible because of Snake.
Metal Gear threads are almost always good, especially now that the cancer is being detained in Zoe threads.
Had one yesterday too, I had to leave after ~4 hours so I have no idea how long it lasted, damn Zoe actually made /v/ better in a way.
The horn is visual metaphor, and not nearly as clumsy as you might at first assume.
It's not from any helicopter crash. It's as old as MGS2 - the last time we were lucid.
>Zoe actually made /v/ better in a way
Haha, never thought of it that way
>Is it possible that Konami wants the project for themselves?
I think that's very possible. Like I said, I don't know how they got the okay to begin with. Companies don't usually just hand out their IPs.
Speculation about a possible double.
Snakes appearance changed quite a lot, and his name to, he was 1st presented as Punished snake, but now with the new appearance he's called Venom Snake.
Big Boss is dead, he never truly came to be as Snake started going downhill after he had to kill The Joy and Voling planted his memes into him.
