ITT: ACTUAL 10/10 VIDEO GAMES
SANDS OF TIME
HALF LIFE 2
GOD OF WAR 3
RESIDENT EVIL 4
MAX PAYNE 2
KINGDOM HEARTS 2
TEAM FORTRESS 2
COUNTER STRIKE 1.6
>Half Life 2
I'm sorry but no.
The game is just too overly scripted
a reminder that scripted like a play, not scripted like codeand is just one long rollercoaster ride, ushering you through linear stages while timed events happen around you.
It was one of the earlier cinematic experiences which we have now come to dread.
It was certainly impressive for the time and it's not bad, but calling it 10/10 doesn't seem reasonable.
It isn't, anybody who played RE1, RE2, RE3, Code:Veronica, RE0 or REmake before playing RE4 knows that RE4 is shit, the only ones who think it's a greats game are the ones who played it as his first Resident Evil. Watching Leon rescuing the daughter of the US president from the Castlevania castle was fucking painful.
I have never met a single person who didn't like Ape Escape.
My own personal list:
Crash Team Racing(Every Crash game up until Vivendi took over)
Spyro the Dragon (First three)
Ratchet and Clank 1-3
Jak and Daxter
Timsplitters 2 (Maybe FP)
Star Wars Battlefront II
TC Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Resistance: Fall of Man
The Last of Us
>Congratulations you just described what Half Life 2 isn't
go back and play it.
I guarantee it won't be like how you remember it.
>Resistance: Fall of Man
>The Last of Us
I never understood /v/'s hate for The Last of Us. For 10/10's I pretty much go off of what games I dumped more than 500+ hours into and can still go back to playing at any time without losing interest.
You must be an edgy feggit.
>ams we nobodies?
>where ams mammories?
Like I said before, I fucking love the game... But the story is pure garbage.
KH1 should have just ended.
Devil May Cry 3
Shadow of the Colossus
The Witcher 2
Fire Emblem (GBA)
A Link to the past
Super Mario 3
Starcraft Brood War
Prince of Persia Sands of Time
Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey
Mount and Blade: Warband
Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal
>mfw I agree with all of these
especially Sands of Time
I can understand why some people might like TLoU, but to call it 10/10 requires rampant fanboyism or incredibly low standards.
Counter strike 1.6
Bad company 2
Super meat boy
The binding of isaac
Kerbal Space program
Crash bandicoot 3
Devil May Cry 3
Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven
Max Payne 2
Dead to Rights (kind of sentimental to me so maybe biased)
WoW: BC (absolute best time to be an MMO player)
Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
imo, the gameplay was super fun, the story was really good, the characters were likable,(Except maybe Sam and Henry, fuck them) and it's the closest thing the gaming community has ever gotten to a realistic zombie survival game as far as I know.
>but I judge games by replay value
how does being able to replay a game multiple times make it 10/10 if every playthrough is still flawed even in a minor way?
If you developed a shit game hypothetically and just added arbitrary collectables that required multiple playthroughs to get, that wouldn't make the game better and it certainly wouldn't make it considered perfect.
I played those other REs before 4. RE4 is 10/10.
OoT, MM, ALttP
Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
Mario Sunshine, 64, Galaxy 1 and 2
Paper Mario TTYD
MGS 1, 2 (yes, fuck you), 3
I consider Civ4:BTS and Civ 5: BNW 10/10s but really dislike that they're only great after 2 or 3 expansions.
Can you stop being a retard for one second? I agree KH1 could have ended but the gameplay of KH2 is far better than the first. The first was slow as fuck and the combat was lacking.
It's not that, fagtron. A game with collectibles that are just there to make it difficult you put the fuck down and don't play again. It is a fun game to play which you do not seem to understand is the core idea here.
It removed the complex approach game in favor of sora basically having a free eternal sonic blade, pointless mana management and trinity limits that handle ALL problems.
Are you including 3? I thought one and two were definitely 8/10's, but 3 seemed too, "Spehs mareen shoot um up" with the addition of the second player and less focus on a generally creepy atmosphere.
if you think replayability makes a game 10/10 despite a cliche story, shitty QTEs, overly scripted segments and awful graphics then I really don't know what to say to you.
>ITT: ACTUAL 10/10 VIDEO GAMES
>SANDS OF TIME
The strongest start to any of these threads I have ever seen, good job OP
The true 10/10 list is coming through.
The Last Express.
Crash Bandicoot 1.
Planescape and Mask of the Betrayer.
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup.
King's Field 2.
Space Rangers 2.
Sotn/Aria of Sorrow/OoE/Dracula X
MGS3 and only 3.
Give me your favourite video game and attempt to tell me truthfully it has none of those aspects.
>played pretty much every RE game to completion
>huge fan of series
>literally everyone starts shitting the series after nemesis because of tank controls and fixed camera being dated
>don't care still play every game especially the god tier remake
>re4 comes out and it's the fucking shit
>suddenly all these "fans" who were fucking no where to be found when the world was shitting on the series start botching
>anyone who like 4 is not a "real" fan
Why do fags gotta fag?
>brings up Nintendo despite no one mentioning them
>says graphics don't matter after TLoUfags constantly bragging about how impressive they were
the gaf is strong in this thread
People forget Last of Us has a pretty solid multiplayer. I dumped like 40 hours into that alone not to mention the hundred in my 2 playthroughs. Grounded is such a bitch.
The multiplayer plays like Gears of War with more realistic executions and stealthy shenanigans
I liked city a lot but I think the tighter, smaller scale worked better for the kind of game asylum was. Having everything take place in the same place that changed as the game went on was cool, and it was better for the metroid style progression. City had a bunch of smaller one-off areas separated by a bunch of city you had to fly through and wasn't particularly interesting. Also I think they really botched the riddler stuff in city, no matter where you looked there was a bunch of green question marks marring the city
Fable: The Lost Chapters
Sands of Time
Divinity: Original Sin
World of Warcraft
The Witcher 1&2
I agree with the Riddler shit, I'm all for post-game collectibles but they would kill my immersion every time I'd run into one and realize I don't have the equipment I need or something. Shit got old real quick.
I played both on the hardest difficulty and while 1 required use of spells and abilities 2 was just press x to win
It probably won't be what I remembered but it wasn't a cinematic themed game or very linear.
it's bad because it's a bad game.
of course fags like you always pick the weakest possible reason people could have to dislike it and attack that argument, conveniently ignoring any actual criticism.
SF3: Third Strike
Tekken Tag Tournament
Devil May Cry 3
Ninja Gaiden Sigma
Quake 3 Arena
Super Meat Boy
Resident Evil: Remake
One Whole Unit Blood
is English your first language?
That makes complete sense.
By saying "it's bad because it's bad" I am obviously saying it's about the quality of the game itself, in contrast with your assertion that I think it's bad because the dev was a douche.
It is a generic 2D platform puzzler with no sense of challenge or risk, with ever mistake being completely forgivable, a terrible artstyle ripped from other games and no real distinguishing qualities.
Sands of time isn't a 10/10 but the sequels were pretty bad, the combat was more developed on WW but it was so fucking broken that it was pointless to actually play it the way it was intended and the level design was more samey.
TT was much better than WW but I wouldn't say that it's objectively better than SoT
FFIX is one of my favorites but come on.
That combat system and speed of combat is not from a 10/10 game.
Chrono Trigger is overrated and Banjo Kazooie is great too but is not 10/10 either
Please, explain 'generic', tell me how a lack of risk is a bad thing in this case, and please let me know of all those other games with perspective swapping.
Also they were working on it since like 2005 so the 'dae le shit everywhere pixelgrafix' argument is stupid of you to use.
>the same dimension shift we've seen in a dozen other games
>a neat mechanic
InB4 unmerited hate:
Kerbal Space Program
Metal Gear Solid 1-3
Serious Sam 2
Deus Ex: HR
Games that are going to get greentexted:
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Meat Boy
Starcraft: Brood War
Fuck you SoT was the by far the best, I've never even understood what was so shitty about the combat anyway? I enjoyed backflipping over an enemy sweeping sword and having t hit his friend instead
>no real distinguishing qualities
nigga are we talking about the same game?
the gimmick, the puzzles and the music are all its distinguishable qualities
>terrible artstyle ripped from other games
generic as in it is not unique or interesting in any way.
Lack of risk is a terrible thing in a platformer, this should go without saying.
can you fags stop piling on shit while I'm trying to type?
I'll get to you in a minute.
>what was so shitty about the combat anyway
That it's repetetive, stiff and that the enemies are predictable and unvaried. It's just not exciting and dispatching bigger groups is a chore rather than a challenge.
It doesn't matter if he worked on it since 2005 if he didn't finish it until what, 2012?
By which point that gimmick had already been done in Paper Mario and another indie game.
He obviously sat on his arse for most the time twiddling his thumbs.
>Huh, I thought you meant the actual definition of generic, you know, characteristic of or relating to a class or group of things, not specific, et cetera.
how is not being unique not correlated with being characteristic?
It's almost paraphrasing.
the only meme was
deal with it glassesin NG+ but I think it was actually funny because it imitated the acquiring of fez in NG, it wasn't thrown in just because
and if you are talking about that thing referencing Navi from LoZ then kill yourself, because thats a reference, not a meme
Silent hill 2
God of war 2
Street fighter 3 online edition
GTA Vice City
Metal gear solid 1
Super smash bros brawl
Pokemon Ruby and sapphire
Zelda Majoras mask
>KINGDOM HEARTS 2
You can't be serious.
>Combat is spam x and trinity limits to win even on higher difficulties, removed the fucking dodge roll to they could map anime cutscenes to a face button
>Story is a convoluted mess and Organization XIII is a horrible villain group
>The Roxas tutorial
>Most of the Disney locales are linear as hell with nothing interesting to find in them, while the original Kingdom Hearts actually had some areas that required puzzle solving and were more open
>The game makes you redo every world twice because of padding
>Disney as a whole takes a backseat in favor of bland, generic OC characters you can't give less of a shit about
>Sanctuary is worse than Simple and Clean
The only good parts of the game were that giant Heartless battle and the gummy ship segments.
If you ignore the hats TF2 is a pretty balanced and fun game with great diversity for a online shooter.
And God of war 1 and 2 are masterpieces. 3 dissapointed but the first 2 are highly memorable. It was the greatest swan song the PS2 could have possibly had.
>implying such a plebian medium can attain perfection
I played dark souls for like 1500 hours, bought it on pc and bought a ps3 just so I could play it on that, went through more pain then you could know with ps3 shenanigans - and I still wouldn't call it a 10/10 game. I've got like 1500 hours in tf2 and 1400 in garrys mod and wouldn't call those 10/10 games.
Kratos has more style though. Some of the things he does in the QTE's are rediculous. Such as dismembering enemies by ripping of thier sword wielding arms and slicing them with it.
I agree with you on some things.
And I will even say Bloodlines masters none of what makes the others amazing.
Bloodlines is a mixture of all of them.
>most beautiful visuals (only on genesis)
>"almost" perfect combat (castlevania 4 perfected the whip, but it also made all other weapons worthless)
Dracula's curse used way too much orange and blue, it is basically a perfected first castlevania, but others did the formula better.
Rondo's blood can be cheesed way too easily and it was the first to start making the games more weeabo.
I still believe bloodlines was the peak.
Report and hide his faggotry
>AUTISM DEFENSE WHEN IT COMES TO FINDING SAMEFAGS
Go back to bed Rugarrell
I do this for XIV ARR shilling threads, its quite apparent its a few people from IRC or one samefaggot
hows Dark Souls not a 10? What are your favourite games then?
Pic related obviously
Jak and Daxter 1
All of the main series Ratchet & Clank games (fuck how does Insomniac do it)
Resident Evil 2, MAYBE Outbreak #2
TLoZ: Minish Cap
Kirby and the Amazing Mirror
DBZ: Buu's Fury
Crash Twinsanity or Crash Warped
TTT1, fuck 2
Breath of Fire 3 was perfect
Bad Company 2 is, for me, the best shooter I have ever had fun with
Super Mario 64
If Dragon's Dogma got a PC release, that would be an instant 10/10 for me
I would say FFXII IZJS if the story was a bit better
Holy shit how did I forget the pic
>What are your favourite games then?
Just because you like a game, or just because a game is your favorite game, does not make it a 10/10. Have some standards, son.
For example; TWEWY is my favorite game, but it is most definitely not a 10/10. Maybe 8/10. Due to some of the retarded combat mechanics and the map being useless among other things.
A 10/10 game? Overboard for PS1.
When was the last time a good Non Japanese game was created?
