Every single bullshit internal conflict and choice in The Walking Dead Game Season 1 could have been quickly and efficiently resolved if, instead of Lee as the protagonist, the game featured Marlo Stanfield as the player character and Chris Partlow instead of Kenny. Instead of picking one side or the other, you coldly play the field and always do the smart thing, in the end saving the lives of virtually every likeable character.
>After being arrested for inevitably returning to a life of swinging his dick around in the mean streets of Baltimore, Marlo and Chris sent far away from their network to the state of Georgia to face trial. Deprived of his precious pigeon coop, Marlo decides this little Asian bitch is a good enough replacement and proceeds to funnel what little empathy and humanity he has left into taking care of her so he can get it out of his system.
Larry and Chris are arguing in the pharmacy and you have to choose a side?
>Obviously pick Partlow because he’s your people. Larry doesn’t look like he’ll fall into line, note to kill him later to be sure he doesn’t undermine your authority.
Find a bitch at the hotel who wants to kill herself?
>Give her the gun and don’t think twice, note you might have to kill the Asian later for “talking back.” Saved the effort when he leaves.
Larry’s still in danger when you get back?
>Good, say nothing about your dead brother with the keys and let Larry die because he was a potential problem. You’re left blameless, the pharmacy alarm doesn’t go off and you all sneak off without a hitch with Doug still alive. Lilly is still an irrational bitch but now one stricken with grief and maybe more easily manipulated.
When you hit episode 2 and come across Ben and the other 2 in the woods?
>Leave the wounded one, take Ben because he’s able-bodied.
Carly hits on you?
>Good, make her your bitch so she won’t talk about your past. Fuck her without changing expressions and act apathetic when she asks how it was.
St. John brothers come asking for help saying they’ve got a whole farm full of food and an electric fence?
>You, Chris and Mark take them prisoner, when you get there take their mother prisoner too and force them to show you around fence from inside so they can’t bolt. Mark isn’t hit by arrow because he’s got a human shield who takes it for him and you can escape the attack easily because you’re still inside. Force them to show you around rest of compound.
They don’t want to open the super-secret door?
>Either drop one until the others do or bust it open with an axe yourself, who’s stopping you?
Find out they’re cannibals?
>Kill those creepy motherfuckers, take over farm and bring the whole group.
Someone’s stealing medical supplies?
>Find out before Lilly because you always keep a count on your shit. Have Chris stake it out and catch Ben, kill him quiet then dump the body off the farm and say he must have left. No more pissy fuckup to screw things up later.
Lilly is an irrational, paranoid bitch who might snap?
>”She might not snap, but would you bet your life on it?” Take her out with Chris to scavenge and drop her in the woods, claim it was bandits.
Find car full of supplies?
>Take it of course, who the fuck leaves their shit lying around unguarded and expects to keep it.
>You have Mark, Doug, and and an electric fence on your side, odds are you can beat them back.
Let’s say, theoretically, you can’t fight them off and are forced to leave the farm and Chris’ kid gets bit?
>Chris is a tough motherfucker, he may grieve but he probably won’t lose his head about it and he sure as hell won’t buck. When his wife goes off into the forest alone with a gun, smart enough to know not to let her. Lets Marlo do the best thing for his kid, keeps wife close so she can’t kill herself.
Go to Savannah, no “we need a boat” pipe dream bullshit because Chris isn’t a delusional idiot, Boats are an option but nothing more. Ben can’t ditch Clementine because he’s dead so Chuck survives. When separated and find cancer survivors, bring the two back under cover of goodwill, let them walk ahead of you then kill both and note location of hideout. Discover boat in the shed but it’s too small for whole group so no need to go to Crawford, let Omid die and Christa be pissed because who gives a shit, let her leave with the boat if she wants and kill her later if she’s a problem. Lie about cancer survivors and pretend they’re bandits, you have enough men to fuck them up and take over, especially with the training Chris has inevitably given them. Crazy fucker can’t kidnap Clementine because you have the people to guard the only 2 ways into your hidey-hole and if he tries your group will fuck him up. You and the vast majority of the characters survive. Over time you inevitably assert your control of the survivors and begin the process of swinging your dick around in a new time and place.
Too bad for virtually every character in the game Marlo wasn't in charge.
Didn't play it, thought the writing in Season 1 was lazy and didn't enjoy it overall. Very disappointed with finale and hated most of the characters, when I found out they brought Kenny back I knew no fucking way
Watch the Wire, they're the smartest gangsters on the show
>Bitches who don't know what respect feels like
Neither used, and Marlo in particular made a point of not using drugs or drinking for any reason so he could stay sharp. Watch the show
He's way fucking scarier, most people argue a sociopath but I'd just argue he has tremendous willpower and focus. He's closer to the embodiment of Nietzsche's Will to Power minus the expression of the aesthetic
Niggas don't know about muh business
What's that? I can't hear you over the sound of me living your dream
The Wire x TWD thread on /v/
Wow most original thing I've read all week, even if
Marlo is the GOAT most hateable villain of fiction/borderline non-fiction
Omar wins the game from beyond the grave, his name is now near mythological while Marlo is now a nobody
>tfw even Marlo gets swept up by the system
>tfw nobody wins
Fair enough. And yeah, I'd want Prop Joe to run my city out of all the possible dealers
Just too much free time
And a strong dislike for the writing of TWD game
That would've been a trip
I considered writing it with Bodie instead of Marlo and Poot instead of Chris but decided Marlo would be more fun
It feels kind of dated now but it gets exponentially better
>tfw everyone else win's each other's games so no one really wins
Omar had it and he threw it back because he was a real human bean and loved Butchie
the one true hero coming through. a;ll he wanted to do was protect his union
just finished it for the second times its slow but its comfy as fuck
season four is painfull mainly due to this faggot
>not reading the whole post
Marlo didn't keep him long enough to fuck up, and if he had fucked up he wouldn't killed him. EZ rider
Oh c'mon don't tell me you didn't like Dukie
>You play as D'Angelo
>Spend first half of game dealing with Bodie and Wallace arguing and picking sides with no real impact as the result of your choice
>Bodie starts screaming "YOU HAVE TO BE HARD TO SURVIVE THESE STREETS, WE HAVE TO BE TOUGH TO SURVIVE" and Wallace cries and argues they can't lose their humanity
>Bodie beats Poot to death for no reason after you have a cutscene where you bond with Poot and learn about his past
>Find out Wallace has been lying and getting high, Bodie yells more and Bubbles shows up and tries to charm everyone for 2 minutes before he's hit by a car to tug at the heartstrings
>Stringer comes and talks to you about Wallace possibly being a snitch, you get to decide whether to kill him or not
>loljk Wallace dies no matter what, if you don't kill him Bodie does
>you go to prison for the killing and die a gratuitous, extended death at the hands of an assassin where you beg for dear life to tug at the heartstrings
Thanks, but that wasn't me, I was typing out the response
i'd fuck her too, but for some reason she just seems more sterile than snoop.
>tfw i thought snoop was a man the first time i watched the wire and started to find her attractive on my second watch
why, i have no idea. beatty is still qtest though
He wasn't a psychopath; he was disciplined, focused, and didn't have much empathy but he was still human. He smiles at the scene with Chris and his family, he nurtures his pigeons, he gets along with the other guys in the card game, he's just got an ego. Wire is still fucking fanastic though, so many little extras woven in there
I want someone to dub that scene with that song now
Know what happens to people who shit-talk Marlo?
For some reason, I never found Beatty that hot at all to be honest. She would be low tier for Wire Girls. Terri was kinda hot, too bad she left after 1 season.
I though she was a dude too in her first couple of scenes. It was only until Marlo ordered the hit on Poot's corner, you see her in hot pants on the motorcycle, and you realise OH SHIT that's a girl!
He was never gonna be a good king. He was egotistical as fuck and would never look into his own faults. He pretended to truly understand the game but he didn't, he was simply consumed by it.
She can clean up a little
You know why he was never given the knowledge of Omar's shittalking. Because people around him knew Omar would drop him. Marlo could never go against Omar. He was an obsessed gangster, nothing more.
I don't mind conflict, but the conflict in the game was lazily-written and the characters were wildly impulsive and unlikeable. Everyone got unbelievably pissy at each other and argued constantly, in a world full of things that are hostile to you there's already plenty of potential for natural conflict without long-winded arguments and rivalries over moral issues, any group of adults would eventually figure out some way to resolve it eventually. Or, maybe they fuck each other over in realistic ways that would give them a legitimate reason to hate one another, I don't care as long as it's plausible, but half the characters just spent all their time yelling like it was reality TV
Yeah dunno why I just thought she was a quiet qt. Terri was definitely pretty hot too
Hey, he knew what he wanted and he pursued it. He wouldn't thrown down with Carver and Herc and had the BPD fuck him up and he was alright with it, he didn't need to play the game for a long time or survive because that's not what he valued. He lived according to the only thing he really wanted, and he had the smarts, focus, and willpower to get it. Nothing wrong with that
You could play as Halo and make the game a FPS, and nobody but the bad guys would die. He is a cool guy, this nigga aint afraid of nothing and he can shoot aliens. Or at least give Lee a spartan armor.
>Both Doug and Carley would be alive
>Mark would be alive
>If Ben fucks up and brings the bandits, you would have killed them all and we get no bit on no Duck with no posibilities of Katja offing herself
>Lilly would need to kill Doug or Carley, because Lee stopped the bad guys
>She wouldn´t steal anything
>Cool homeless dude still alive
>Kenny could still have the boat
>Zombie never bites Lee
>Whole season 2 with Lee alive
I honestly thin that R* should consider creating a game based on The Wire.
If it follows the original story but sees it through the eyes of a protagonist that you create and which gang you choose to associate with.
If the multi player let players deliver drug deals to locations and people from other gangs here about it then they could set ambushes. To make it interesting have the player earn a nick name.
He can't just walk in and be marlo #2 the yhave to earn their respect
If this was made then this would be a definite GOTY material
I shit you not, I actually have six pages of how GTA 5 could be adapted into a mod inspired by the Wire and most of the mechanics for it. Want me to dump?
Yeah he was a real deal nigga
Aight here goes boys
-Can rob street level dealers, sometimes they'll give you the shit, they could pull a gun, or maybe try to bolt. Sometimes they'll say fuck you and you either have to shoot the wall or their knees, depending how stubborn they are, and a few will fight after you shoot knees (rare). Would be similar to drugstore and gas station robberies. Random chance of each, or if it’s an npc with an assigned personality you can know or hire/befriend, their reaction will depend on personality (Ex: angry more likely to fight or say fuck you, nice more likely to give it up/run, but always a chance they’ll do what you don’t expect)
-In-game stash houses, unmarked and heavily guarded on the inside, if you find and identify one you can either stealth or go in guns blazing. Different sizes; some are apartments or stores with a smaller amount, some are houses that support whole gangs. Can spot by possibly seeing cameras, guards, better doors, or follow runners from corners when they go to re-up.
-Rob a stash house or rob/kill enough small time dealers from a gang and you'll get a price on your head if they find out it's you, have assassins come after you and fuck up your car, apartment, kill known associates, friends, maybe your girl if you pissed them off enough or they're assholes, etc. Can also get fame and notoriety, have people recognize you in the street and dealers will know not to fuck with you. Some will run as soon as you see them in the street and hookers, strippers, drinks, meals are free from certain places. Can either hire muscle to help or do side missions and make friends who'll rob people with you and follow whatever style you tell them.
Start out with one or 2 niggas from way back but they or any other help can always die or get arrested if you're not cautious and go balls-out gunfight for every stick-up, and if you don’t help on their side missions they could die on their own. Friends can be treacherous though- depending on the personality they might try to rip you off, esp. if they're addicts. Can pay or give dope fiends and crackheads free shit so they'll run up and warn you if someone's coming for you.
-Can rob liquor stores and banks too, just like GTA 5, but police response for banks will be a real bitch.
>Dealers: Can do missions like night watch in Read Dead, only instead of walking around and you hit random events you're on the corner selling shit until random events happen. Can be robbed by stick up boys and you can fight, flee, or give them your shit and suffer consequences of each. Dope fiend might try to grab your stuff and run, cops might come up and you have to either leave the shit or grab it, either way flee or get assraped as a cop killer. After a while you may notice signs certain things are about to happen; may notice someone’s watching you sitting in their car for a while and that means you’re about to get robbed or arrested, might see a couple hunched over guys in sweatshirts walking over and they’re coming to run you off your corner, maybe they’re not. If they’re pro stickup boys they’ll be harder to notice (might use a cab, flower truck, dress like they’re old, be women, etc.), if they’re shit they might start halfway down the block with their gun out, etc. Jobs pay good money and eventually you'll be promoted if you do well, can organize raids on other corners and plan them out or negotiate to get them under your wing, eventually become drug lord. Can recruit muscle, dealers, etc. and get people on your payroll; hire too much muscle or not enough and drawback either way
>Friends/workers: Random personality traits- could be intelligent or dumb; angry, cool-headed, depressive, addicted, any degree of a few set traits; could be funny, shit talk a lot or be quiet; can be mean, nice, tough but not mean, nice but not indulgent.
-Each has different benefits- angry/mean won't knowingly get ripped off/take shit from anyone, but if you ask a favor or date their sister or cousin (semi-rare random event if you hire hooker/get gf) they might not be understanding, unlike nice or depressive trait npc. That or they'll beat or kill someone important or unimportant on their own time and it becomes an optional side mission, you have to decide whether to stand with them and suffer someone else’s anger or tell them to fuck off and possibly suffer theirs; they could just lose it if you’re dealing too, if someone tries to rip them off they might just kill him or if you’re on a job they’ll kill someone for talking shit or looking at them sideways even if you wanted stealth/no bodies (can execute him for it, but once again your choice has perks and drawbacks). More likely to serve longer sentences for bad behavior, might go in for possession and stay or die in jail because they beat or stabbed someone to death inside.
-Nice character may do favors for free, you'll earn their loyalty and friendship faster, but they’re more likely to be ripped off, not want to do violent jobs, and run or hesitate when told to beat/kill, and will be randomly fucked with more often as a side mission for being perceived as a bitch. Also, if they’re arrested doing something big enough and your loyalty isn’t too high, they’re more likely to rat on you or your people than an angry npc who’d tell the cops to go fuck themselves. If you’re trying to take over a corner and there’s a couple younger teenagers or middle schoolers, they won’t shoot even if (rare random chance) the kids draw.
lol good luck nigga
also sorry for shit formatting
On the flip side, angry might just kill the kid for no reason.
-Intelligent won’t get ripped off as much, will run corners/muscle better and show leadership, etc. but more likely to be disloyal or ambitious if you’re not very close, and if you send them on a suicide run or a mission where the odds are against you they might not do it. Similarly, stupid people show little leadership/management skills but won’t ask questions, hesitate, or think of the consequences if you send them on a risky mission (you can even get someone dumb enough to kill a cop, gang lieutenant, or someone else high on the ladder as long as you’re careful it doesn’t come back to you). They also generally won’t try to take your shit over regardless of loyalty or you’ll find out they’re trying to sooner because they’re too dumb to make a good attempt.
-Addiction is a little different. Some NPCs, you’ll know they’re addicts, some you have to figure it out by signs (might be skipping work because they’re high, might be skipping work because they got shot, might be depressed, or any combo of factors), some become addicts after you know them.
-Occasionally you’ll get more rare traits; character might be gay and you have to decide whether to keep him or suffer for being associated with him, might be a playboy, might be an undercover (you can usually tell the signs of undercover if you look), might have been molested, etc.
-Different, random amounts of each trait that impact if random events happen more or less often; might have a murderous temper or a mild temper, might be smart as hell or just a little sharper than average. Some traits exclude others, some more naturally go together, but there are no stats for each so you have to play it by feel (maybe include option to turn visible stats on).
-Most importantly, while some events are more likely due to personalities, anything is still possible so you have to think about all outcomes. A nice guy might still pull a gun when you rob him, and a mean guy might back off.
>Some npcs have personalities and can be befriended/hired. A lot more npcs don’t, just run corners and can’t be interacted with beyond fighting, getting them under your control, or buying drugs/guns from them though.
>Weapons: shitty guns (revolvers, old double barrel shotguns) are cheap and so are knives/bats. Semi-auto pistol price really depends on quality, if rounds are hollow point or AP, uzis/AK47s/military guns and grenades are gonna run you a lot of money and a lot more time if you’re caught with them, and harder to dispose of. Lobbing a frag at everyone you don’t like will bring a ton of police attention
>Can set up your own side businesses, sell drugs, clean piss, guns, be hired muscle, prostitute, grow weed, set up contacts to smuggle drugs into prisons, etc. Pick a corner if relevant and go, chase someone off it if you need to or work out a split so you can stay on their territory.
>One of the best parts of the Wire is all the ambient conversations, always have funny conversations in background esp. if you’re working on the corner
>Can rat to police for leniency if they catch you on a minor charge and a bit of cash and/or protection, but if anyone finds out you've got a snitch jacket
>Maybe play inside prison too, would have to figure out mechanics though. Can fight for fun or get even while you can, or be released early for good behavior
>The more people you kill, the more the police will be looking for you and your people and the more you'll have to run away from them. If friends get caught on certain
charges can bail them out and earn more loyalty, or piss them off and leave them stuck in prison and they might come after, kick your ass or shoot you when you get out.
>More you get caught by police, the greater the penalties, the length of your sheet matters
>If someone tells you there’s a witness going to testify on you (witnesses detecting you works similar to Red Dead, but only certain NPCs rat and you’ll find out about it later), you can pay them off, scare them and hope the threat works, or kill the witness and face the heat but get reputation. If someone rats on you or police see you commit a crime and get your description, a warrant goes out and there’s always a chance every time you see police they’ll recognize and chase after/arrest you. Can be tipped off if there’s a warrant out if they come to your apartment and girlfriend/friend tells you about it, or can buy informants inside police (but always a risk if you try to buy someone off that they’ll tell police about it, less likely the more money you offer).
>Can do coke, PCP, inject or smoke heroin, smoke crack or weed, do shrooms, pop oxys, etc. Different drugs have different visual effects and different bonuses that increase if you take more, addiction and OD mechanics depending on drugs and unmeasured tolerance. Drug effect example: smoking crack might make you run faster, up stamina a bit, draw gun faster, but reticle shakes a bit and visuals be slightly blurred. -PCP may double your damage threshold but visuals/hallucinations might make you imagine things that aren't there or just be visual distractions.
-Shrooms are just in there for fun, no benefits but you’ll get cool colors/swirls to look at, can come to work on shrooms if you can handle it. Same with weed, just makes things slightly more fuzzy so you can’t see things in the distance, and sharing weed with NPCs-with-personalities will up their loyalty to you; same with giving them booze, or if they’re an addict giving them their drug of choice will up loyalty.
-Unsure what positive effects of heroin will be, but negative is slowed movement and gun draw time (slow down more the more you take) and if you’re standing or sitting still and took a decent amount, head will dip and screen will fade to near-black then back to normal as you nod out then catch yourself.
-If you do drugs on the job, your boss might care or might not depending on what he told you is OK (he might even smoke with you) and you can get away with being high or addicted as long as you don’t take it too far (Ex: you can get away with taking enough heroin or oxys to maintain your high, but start nodding out and you might get in some shit).
>See a fiend get robbed or getting ass kicked for no reason, see a girl being slapped around, can intervene but don’t know who the guy doing the beating’s friends are. See a homeless guy can give him money, but he might just run off to go buy dope
-Can get gfs or have a harem of hoes, niggas might try to kill or fight you if they want them or if they used to date. If you don’t have a gf or bitches for a while people might think you’re a faggot and start shit, you won’t get as much respect. Can bang dudes in secret (if you find out an NPC is gay) or hire male prostitutes if you want, just hope no-one finds out. Your partner can hold an extra job and share income with you, help you meet people, but I need to figure out other benefits to make dating worth it.
>Can get mugged by crackheads- if you’re notorious or high enough up in drug world they’ll even return your shit or run away once they know who you are. Random events: see someone getting beaten in an alley, see people get robbed or arrested, see another guy on the corner getting shot and the next day a different gang’s there. Kids chuck bottles at walls, light dogs and cats on fire, climb buildings for random events. On church Sunday in the morning a lot of nice-dressed people will be around for a while.
>Maybe add wounding mechanic for character and NPCs, if NPC is shot in leg they might limp for a while and be slower or wear a sling if shot in arm and be unable to use two-handed weapons.
>Lots of minigames like Red Dead, and all activities from GTA 4 included plus gambling anc cheating (dice, cards), going to bookies and bet on horses or boxers you see on TV, etc.
>Disposing of bodies: if you kill someone and leave them somewhere they’ll be noticed, cops might start building case and fucking with your operation. More work to dispose of bodies but you’ll stay under radar- can drive out to the boonies and bury, can leave in abandoned houses, can dump in sewers, can work out deal with funeral home to add bodies to “closed” caskets for a higher price or burn it in a trashcan in your backyard then bury the bones and hope the neighbors don’t notice (random event, they might snitch or confront you).
>Hard difficulty: legal penalties more severe, have to dump guns that are used as murder weapons, police will stop and search if you look sketchy even if you haven't
done shit yet, 1-3 shots to die, etc. Hardcore mode: Only one life, if you’re hit by a car or fall off a building you still go to hospital though (if possible)
>Different cars (SUV vs. shitty run down car, sports car vs. towncar) will change if you're noticed by police, but while a pimped-out SUV might get more police attention, it’ll earn respect where a shitty towncar might let people think you’re soft or a bitch unless you prove otherwise. Prostitutes are cheaper in nicer cars, and depending on the NPC they’re more likely to start working for you if you own a nice car because it shows you’re doing well, etc.
>The key would be to make it so that each of your choices in various side missions has a degree of risk and reward, I.E. if you're a dealer and you try to grab your shit before the cops take it, you're taking a risk but it can pay off. You can be a stick-up boy and rob block after block without stopping but you'll have fucking waves after you You can either play it cautious and stay under the radar or say fuck it and be the notorious balls-out cowboy of the ghetto everyone wants a shot at, or anywhere in between, you get to pick your own playstyle. You can get the community in on your operation to avoid trouble or kill enough people that no-one will start shit, whichever you feel like. Different choices have different benefits and there's no "right" way, just different ways with different perks.
>If possible I'd try to add a moral component too, like you might find out your friend's been stealing and you can give him a pass and look like a bitch, beat his ass and hope he doesn't retaliate, kill him in the street for the message or snuff him in his house and dispose of the body quietly to avoid attention. If a friend has a murder charge against him and he’s in your crew, you can rat out his address and risk being found out as a snitch, kill him yourself and hide the body, let him stay in your operation and suffer the extra attention, tell him to get the fuck out of town, or give him money to get out of town even though you’ll never see him again and giving him money serves no real use. If NPC is dumb you might see them around town again after a while. You can use kids if you’re running corners so you draw less attention, and can encourage teenagers not to go to school if you want to mentor them to be smart, good soldiers, and there’s no drawback except that it’s a dick move. Can also tell them to go to school, refuse them work, they might just go across town and start working or you’ll see them down the road and they’ll thank you for it
What the hell are you even talking about...
Nope. Sorry to the OP for derailing his thread.
>"There go a life that had to be snatched man"
>Avon will remember that
No one ever gives respect to the right hand as much as they deserve
They do all the dirty work and get none of the recognition
Slim Charles is the best character.
Yeah, Slim was a great character. I'd say same goes for Chris though, underrated and easily has the best if not one of the best scenes in the whole series
when he kills Michael's dad and it's implied he was molested. Just great storytelling.
I'll make sure to give you 100% credit for story and development and shit
I'm not taking credit for a geniuses work
This is the most thought out creative mod idea ever.
God bless you, Anon
You know if he do that he gon get reported
