Hey /v/, what's the name of that game that everyone else thinks is pretty okay but is literally your goddamn favourite game of all time and will never get a sequel because the devs have forgotten it fucking exists?
That game is Bully for me
That story; those characters; that structured open world; those collectibles.
I want splinter cell to go back to that great place where it didn't take itself so fucking seriously
remember that random nameless guard in Chaos Theory where when you grabbed and interrogated him it turned out he was a sam fisher fanboy? fucking. hilarious.
now it's all cold dead eyes and edge shooting people in the face
how's the PC version for bully? i thought about trying it but iirc, i heard it was unstable.
i can't say for sure what my personal 10/10 AND a game everyone says is mediocre.
but i'll list STALKER as my 10/10, and Prototype as my favorite mediocre games. i'm still miffed that these won't get sequels.
prototype 2 doesn't count
PC version is perfectly stable, the issue with it is that there are minigames for each class, and some of them are practically fucking broken (I'm thinking specifically of the shop class one here, the rest are okay). Still beatable, but you literally have to memorize the input sequence, it is not fun. All classes are optional, so it's not like it impedes your progress or even constitutes that big of a game, but I'm not going to lie to you: it's annoying.
worth buying in a fucking heartbeat though, if you see it on sale do yourself a favor.
It's not my favorite game but it's a great game that it seems like no one else cares about.
Beyond Good & Evil.
>mfw no bg&e 2
i-it's coming anon... you just have to believe!
"Wow, killed by a ninja!" Yeah, that guy was awesome. There was a ton of hilarious interrogations, even the rest of the game has a great sense of humour. One of my favourites is when Fisher asks for a pay rise during the bank heist.
Timesplitters.. Ugh that game, spent alot of my childhood playing that. There is a community made one coming out called Timesplitters Rewind, although I doubt it will be anyway near as good as the official ones..
Giants Citizen Kabuto/ Sacrifice/ VtM:B
I could probably go on and name a few more games that I absolutely loved and that are never coming back, these are just the ones from the top of my head.
What about games that got a sequel that completely ruined the game for you?
Because if that's the case, Crysis. Used to play nothing but Crysis multiplayer and ended up become that guy that was disturbingly good at the game. Used to do this trick to piss people off where I'd activate max speed and then drop my pistol while sprinting at them to kill them with the impact. You wouldn't actually get credited with the kill but it was always worth it.
Are you me?
I love that humor, love the characters, the enemies, the gameplay and how you create your castle. Loved the sequel, better in all ways, loved raising hell. All hail Overlord
I swear, wasn't there an interview with a guy from Crytek where he says "every time we talk to anyone they beg us for another timesplitters, guess we have to go and make one LOL!"? I swear I remember reading that within the last month
I was going to say Homeworld was my long lost franchise love, but it turns out that THQ dying was the best thing that could have happened to it: the first two are getting a remastered edition and the OG's that made them are working on a new goddamn installment. I just hope they haven't lost that amazing story-telling touch that made the originals so goddamn captivating.
Morrowind. /v/ liked Morrowind once, back in the days when Oblivion was new and hated, but now that Skyrim is the new and hated thing the usual incredibly intelligent analyses such as "aged like milk" and "miss miss miss miss miss". For me, it's the best open world game ever made, the only other game to immerse me so much in the game world and game systems is Deus Ex.
Oh and I forgot to mention the "never get a sequel" thing, but with Skyrim being the mega success that it is and Toddler literally blowing up Vvardenfell, I think it's fair to say we'll get neither a systemic nor a thematic sequel.
really wanted to like Kane & Lynch 2
it was fucking gorgeous
but it was goddamn torture to play through for me.
Max Payne 3 was everything I wanted K&L2 to be, but I still preferred K&L2's art direction. The pixelation, the grainy high-ISO look, the neon lights and lense flare
I would have forgiven a whole lot for a game that looked that good
but fucking jesus shit I hated how that game played so goddamn much.
Omikron: The Nomad Soul
The first 1/3 of the game is GOAT, better than any single player game I've played, and back in 1999 a game with free roam and a full city was amazing. This was before GTA III and other 3D free roam shit and I remember just walking around, drinking in bars, going to strip clubs instead of continuing the story. The story takes a nosedive in the middle and the ending is rushed but who gives a shit?
I played it again recently (it's on Steam and GOG with some compatibility patches apparently) and it kind of holds up. The shooting and fighting are both equally terrible though.
Back in 1999 I'd easily give it 11/10, today it's 8/10.
No sequel because Quantic Dream is too busy with their QTE's and cinematic storytelling.
The Darkness 2
Despite the rest of the enemies after the third mission just being The Brotherhood, and the linear path it had, it's one of my favourite games, the quad wielding was awesome, along with the story, loved the characters, and the ending was awesome
unless you stayed with Jenny.
Too bad 2K will never, ever make a third darkness game, ever.
R* hasn't forgotten about Bully, they know it has a cult following but they care more about shit like GTA and Red Dead, I think Bully will get a sequal eventually, we just needed a new GTA and Red Dead first. I have beaten Bully 4 times, it is one of the only games I can actually finish more than once and still enjoy the fuck out of it.
Why did they have to go so fucking grimdark with the whole series, goddamn
I mean, I actually even enjoy the new additions to the franchise in terms of gameplay. Loved Blacklist,
enjoyed Conviction. But there's not even a hint, not any trace at all of that neat little sense of dark humor/levity present at all. Closest thing we have now is that guy from the office voicing a lazy comic relief character in Blacklist.
I think the total number of hours I spent playing this game must be close to a thousand. And goddamn the ending was fucking sad and unsatisfying.
Except that they did make a sequel and it sucked.
I'm literally playing through it right now
I played through it 2x before, and my sister 100%'d it once. She's a lot more anal about that shit than me. Those rubber bands, man
>whole thread is about games that other people think are okay but you personally really enjoy a whole fucking lot
no anon, fuck YOU
Brigandine Legend of Forsena.
Bad ass strategy game with 6 different factions with different goals, a different style of leadership from the leader and a unique set of characters to each faction that intertwined with the other factions or even one another.
You could defeat the CO or take out their monsters and force a retreat from them.
Japan got a remake with some new stuff and cut out the shit 3d model stuff for quicker paced action, sadly there was never an English version.
Remake or translation I would take either, hell ive even attempted to play it in jap but you miss out on so much story and don't know what the fuck is going on.
I just want to experience this much fun in coop with a friend again.
>tfw no Black & White 3
>tfw no Sid Meier's Pirates! 2
>tfw no Dark Messiah of Might & Magic 2
>tfw the Fable series went to utter shit
>tfw no Half Life 3
why even live fuck this gay earth hold me /v/
Bully is a legit 10/10.
They'll make a sequel eventually. I remember them saying they would consider Bully 2 after Max Payne 3.
I know Rewind is coming out, but it's just not the same.
Raw Danger and Steambot Chronicles.
What makes it worse is that there were sequels to both that got cancelled, despite appearing to be largely completed.
If no one saw it, it didn't happen.
If someone of lower station saw it they will not say anything or they will lose their head for dishonourable talk.
If someone of equal station saw you do it then you duel them and kill them for daring to dishonour your proud name.
If someone of higher station saw you do it then kiss your ass goodbye because its seppuku time.
I honestly don't know what to think with it (in regards to whether or not it will happen) it'll probably be awhile since the first Bully took forever and a fucking day to get made
While I didn't love Bulletstorm it is still extremely shitty how unnoticed the game went, but that's EA and Epic Games for ya
At least most of the talent in People can fly managed to get out and into other studios like Flying Wild Hog and couple others I can't name off the top of my head
The dark atmosphere, the characters and their development, the lore and mystery and so much story that was left unexplored or unanswered, the cliffhanger ending... felt like I was playing a game and watching a tv series
Brave Fencer Musashi.
Just listen to that soundtrack.
I love it, but nobody really cares about it.
Fuck Rebellion for turning it into an awful FPS with zombies.
Been a PC fag since the ps2 days and this was the entire reason i got a ps3 recently, and it was the best decision ever. I'd go insane with joy if they made a sequel for this or even did a PC port.
>Alan Wake is getting a reboot
Really? Where did you hear this?
Used to be Gothic II for me, but more and more people seem to recognize it for the GOAT it is.
It's a good kind of feel.
my bad guys I remembered reading an article about something like this but looking up my RSS reader either I was thinking of either Quantum Break, Alone in the Dark, or Vanishing of Ethan Carter
I love this game. It has flaws but every time I play another AAA game I always think.
If this was Dishonored this building would have at least 4 different entry points. This shitty puzzle wouldn't even exist. This cutscene shouldn't have been mandatory. This shouldn't have been a forced stealth segment. This segment is simply padding and should be taken out for better pacing. I shouldn't have lost control of my character here. This kill and knockout animation should be faster. This character shouldn't vibrate uncontrollably when I don't reach out and grab his hand.
Too me it felt like the same sort of situation with Thief, although it was a bit better crafted and had a greater direction (instead of basically being half stealth, and then half action to appeal towards the then current FPS gaming market)
Hopefully it turns out like a new age Thief 2 in those same regards
I love Dishonored, man. I'm in the same boat as you.
>Dat magical powers
>Dat beautiful environments
Want a second one so bad. When will they fucking announce it?
My fucking nigga
This shit was so much fun to play with a couple of good friends.
>tfw you can't afford the upkeep of that Victoria battleship anymore and it goes rogue.
This right here. I've never enjoyed an RPG like this.
>This character shouldn't vibrate uncontrollably when I don't reach out and grab his hand.
Episodic sequel to my favourite underdog 90s FPS game, released only one episode, dev team bought out by casual gaming giant, franchise placed on a shelf where it remains to this day.
Once a year I play through the original game from 1998, then play through the first episode of the sequel, then weep quietly into my keyboard
I fucking love that game. Played it when it was first released in 2011 and I bought the DLC cases a couple of weeks ago. Replaying it right now.
Most people don't really give a shit about LA Noire unfortunately, or they think it's shit because "it's not GTA".
That sequel in Tivia turned out to be a false rumor.
There was another rumor that you'll play as Emily Kaldwin.
Hunger Games fangirls and SJW immediately went ape and started campaigning for it because muh stronk empowered Chloe Moretz.I mean I'd be really happy to play as Billie Lurk, for example, but playing as Emily is pants on head retarded.
Metal Arms: Glitch In The System
>Activision bought out swingin' ape and owns the rights but is too busy publishing annual CoDs
>Even though MAGITS online multiplayer would be godly
>That feeling when Richard "Levelord" Gray will never get back into major video game development and level design
Although I'm more then thankful for what he gave us, it's still a sad feeling
I've spent more time playing this shit than all of my other PS1 games together.
Not my favorite video games of all time but the Mass Effect series has a pretty special place in my heart. I know most of /v/ considers the later games as straight out bad, but I just can't get myself to hate them. I sortof consider them my vidya guilty pleasure.
first open world game I ever played, traveling through time, killing aliens, driving cars, tanks, airplanes and space ships. A sequel with modern tech would be amazing and I think Rockstar or Midway owns the rights.
>W-why do everyone think the game is pretty okay and forget about it
The first thing you said is "That story", followed by "Those characters"
That's exactly why, games where the most compelling aspects are the story and the characters (Like Mafia) are going to be forgotten in a deep sea of okay games.
Charming and varied overworld. Pretty timeless art and character designs.
Classic adventure tale; not mind-blowing deep but not pretentious 2deep horseshit either.
High tier music and voice acting.
Really fucking long and packed with things to do. Standard combat system but it can trip you up if you don't play it safe and take the time to bring your party up to par.
Four out of five of those things are admittedly just my opinion, but if you're a fan of RPGs then you'll probably like it.
lmao fucking kart racers, shit
I really loved Mickey's Speedway USA for N64 as a kid
I loved it more than mario kart
I was a fucking child, forgive me
still not that big a fan of mario kart though
I'm with ya. I was thinking of replaying the whole series from start to finish after I saw a long-ass retrospective video about all the games.
Say what you want about what 3 ended up being, but they were one hell of a ride.
>customizable game modes
>R&C tier weapons
>that robot thing with the knife hands
That's because most people are fucking retards who can't judge games in their own merit. Dark Soul is a more refined version of Demon's Souls but when there wasn't a Dark Souls to compare to it, DeS was fucking GOAT. Plus, DeS was a more complete game that introduced some fresh online elements.
Demon's Souls is my all-time favourite game.
I liked the first 2, but when they went 3D it lost its charm for me
Picked up Desperados on that Last Chance GoG sale, but it runs weird as fuck on Windows 8 so I may be SoL
The game has some serious flaws, yes. But it's still pretty good and ambitious. Facial animations, the story, the whole atmosphere was all done really well.
>"HOW ABOUT I FUCKING KICK YOU IN THE TEETH ASSHOLE?"
>"That's a lie and you know it. Please tell my why you're hiding the truth."
Rise of the Argonauts
Sleeping Dogs though I heard a sequel is in the making
Hard To Be A God
Red Faction Guerilla
Prince of Persia
And a bunch of other games already mentioned.
It's easily one of my favourite games of all time.
Also this game.
Yeah, it's a damn shame. :(
It's been a while since I saw Tom Mustaine and Matthias Worch's names attached to anything either, I'm wondering what happened to them. I know Tom tried to launch Severity back in '07 or thereabouts and it never ended up happening
>tfw no Bully 2 with Gary as the protag
>he's now a college delinquent and doing missions for stoners, sorority girls, and SJW cliques
Any love for Black out there?
Absolutely loved it
Evil Zone. Easy to pick up and play fighting game with characters that parody anime archetypes. Had an interesting story too.
I don't know anything about the original devs but it basically was released directly to the bargain bin in the US.
>doing missions for anyone
he was such a perfect sociopathic antagonist, I don't think it would feel right to have him do anything for anyone but himself
I actually loved Jimmy as a protagonist: self interested, street smart, hard-headed but really self-assured, but also had a sense of right and wrong and liked helping people out who needed it.
One of the few times rockstar got the protagonist right in a GTA-like game. It felt like he fit the world without having to be psychotic OR a sad-sack loser
Although I guess this has more to do with it's dev studio being shut down more then forgotten, still it wouldn't fucking kill capcom to include Gene in fucking something instead of just letting him rot away since 2006
People had some complaints, and they were fair, but I really liked this game.
>Pete is now a super popular ladies man who makes Gary's college life a living hell for having ruined his school years
>he's the final villain
It's like poetry.
>that final battle with him screaming his insane, sociopathic bullshit as you chase him up the tower in the pouring rain
That battle was pure fucking HYPE
Interesting NES title in that it doesn't stick to one genre. Some stages are vertical shooters, some are horizontal shooters, some are sidescrolling platformers, and most boss fights are first person shooters where you need to talk with your crew to find out the bosses weak point.
I fucking love fighting games
a) I'm absolute trash at them
b) I only have a PC
luckily lately fighting games have been getting PC releases for reasons I don't understand at all
I pray that some day Virtua Fighter, Tekken, and Marvel vs Capcom find their way into my steam library
seriously that game felt excellent from start to finish, I don't know what it was
starting off on campus
sneaking into the girls dorm
getting access to the city
it felt so goddamn good to play
Few years ago it was Sid Meyer's Pirates! The 3D version, game is fucking amazing! It's old as shit now but everything about the game, even the graphics, are so damn stylized and awesome that it's just timeless. It has weird issues with HD resolutions, though... It's the perfect open world. You can be a pirate, a pirate hunter, an honest businessman, you can avenge your family, or just dick around. You actively grow old and will eventually have to retire so every single action you do has weight and value to it.
Nowadays it's Crusader Kings 2. Holy fucking shit.
I now actively avoid playing it if I don't have any time to burn. When I start hours fly by and I just can't bring myself to stop it's that fucking good.
People claim it's a grand strategy game. They're wrong. It's as close to a pen and paper RPG as you can get. Pick your character (more fun being that random duke history forgot about), and conspire your way to the crown. Than be crushed by the HRE. Or surrender outright, have your country annexed to it... and take it the fuck over with intrigue and political back stabbings.
Close second is Dwarf Fortress. It's free and it's awesome. Play it.
Would be this for me.
I just can't find the disk anymore
I love the character design and humour so much in FP. 2 was good but FP took it to another level.
The animation in cutscenes is a great too, so many games have such boring or downright shitty animation.
Thinking back of the times you clould've easily fugd is one of the worst things imaginable.
>there was this legit 9/10 girl i worked with one summer >we talk a few times, mostly because we were assigned to the same task >suddenly out of the blue she asks me if i wanted to play Bully with her at my place >tell her off with a shit excuse because i was sure Bully is a crap game and didn't know what to think of the whole deal anyway >next day my roommate asks "Hey, when's n coming over?" >turns out she asked him what things i like and he told him i love vido games and I'd probably love Bully i'm sorry i ever doubted your games R*
>>261393116 here. I somehow forgot.
I really want a HD collection that both tests the water AND gives us a modern save file transferred from S1 to S2 that will be compatible with S3. Then, I want that fucking final showdown with Lan Di, shirtless in the rain and all that shit with flashes of all of the people that helped you get this far as you deliver your finishing "predictive explosion" blow to his sternum. The last face being Ryo's dad.
I did and I have nothing but love for those who shared that journey.
Also love for
omikron : nomad soul
>there will never be another Mega Man game
>tfw you actually liked the Starforce and Battle Network games more then the main series
This game right here. Don't if it's the inner child in me or what but I've always wanted to see part 3 after the ending all those years ago.
Megaman X3. It got a sequel, but not really. I wish capcom never appealed to the anime kids back then.
Demon's Crest. My ultimate fantasy would be that Capcom let From Software make a sequel or remake like a Souls game. Kind of a mash up, Gargoyle's Quest lore in with Demons's Souls gameplay.
Phantasy Star online ep 1&2. It got a sequel alright, but it seems the devs have forgotten that people outside of japan likes it too.
Honestly Dark Souls for the bleak and oppressive atmosphere with a constant looming feeling of melancholy and dread from both the environment and the characters themselves. The boss fights were exciting and always had a sense of weight to them that made me determined to fuck up every last one of them, at least up until you beat O&S and then the rest of the game is piss easy.
But now /v/ shits all over it because the sequel sucks or something like that even though there used to be daily Dark Souls threads. Now it's just "lolol babby's first hard gaem."
The first one was mediocre but set the foundation for something that could of been great
Second one was a goddamn disappointment
But I just wanna see it end after 2's cliffhanger,
I JUST NEED CLOSURE
FUCK! This game was amazing, shame it will never happen
>playing it on xbox and not ps2
All I want to do is torment sim characters as an immortal ghost puppeteer.
>Ctrl+f Zone of
I'm pretty much obsessed with ZoE, and i wish Kojima made ZoE3 instead of SH
Who am i kidding ZoE3 never ;_;
>Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
that fucking combat, goddamn
all Bethesda had to do was steal it's combat, add a Gothic-tier open world with plenty of lore and some skilled programmers to debug
nothing will ever feel the same
13 years later and STILL nobody has ever tried to make a better hacking sim? not even some cheap indie dev? jesus christ
Arma series for me
>each iteration is better
>spent my whole childhood in ofp editor
>that better than most rpg tier inventory in last game
>those bro devs still suporting the milsim players who have always been there while most of the community came with dayz
>even dayz was fun as fuck
>holy shit those campaigns are great as well
>except for OA, that sucks dick
>not to mention the GOTYAY soundtrack
>fuck arma is great
>fuck gonna spend entire night playing it just planning out attacks on duws and being an ak75u operator
Another Deus Ex in JC's timeline.
FUCK INVISIBLE WAR
Manhunt 2 goes basically full TPS in the later half of the game, but it's pretty enjoyable for the first half with the new executions.
Manhunt 1 was awesome. Amazingly dark and creepy atmosphere, when you get spotted you actually get scared as fuck.
And then there's the Piggsy fight. Dear god.
i loved doing the investigations and interrogating people, I LOVE being a detective.
but the moment i had to drive around and shoot people i got very upset and dropped the game
Somebody's probably already mentioned it but what the hell
I know that fucking feel bro. This and the original were both killer, and I say that as a huge nerd for the PC games.
>tfw Bloodmire Manor for the first time
Hell no it isn't, and I've played all of them. It's just going to get worse. Freedom Fighters had some of the best couch multiplayer I've played. My friend and I directing a small army of troops to kill one another. Also, they had very atmospheric hub areas during the main story.
Fuck I miss this game now.
>That batshit retarded story
>4 hours long
>Yoda shows up for just one cutscene
>4 FUCKING HOURS LONG
The only fun part of that game was fucking around with costumes. That and the gameplay which was unchanged from 1
Oh man that multiplayer.
> Play that map with four corner forts
> When two players, take a fort each so we can snipe each other
> Continuously send troops along the ridge and shoot them with rocket launchers.
Goddamn. The campaign was pretty fun, but holy shit that couch multiplayer.
So many shenanigans.
I actually was just going to get it for my vita.
I played it way back but didnt understand much, but since I've watched the movie recently Im willing to give it a second go
why can't we have a sequel?
I played the first and second but funny story for the first one,
>play 2 player all the way with bro to last boss in that fucking tower
>Decide to look at skill points
>see something that resets character
>"Oh this must allow me to respec points"
>look at bro
>just get second game and plays that
And then once we got to bloodmire and killed that witch bitch with her devil dog looking things, we go to another part of game where its all rubble and cobblestone paths, get lost
>we gave up
fun game though
Just so you're aware, some well known designer has been attempting to buy Overlord from Triumph for a while now.
I won't say his name because it may fuck up the possibility of the sale. But I really hope the deal goes through. I really like the series.
I dread how modern audiences would react to NOLF1's remark about women being "worthless, talentless and genetically inferior."
But then again, modern /v/ would just see the whole game as a massive SJW pandering, the lead being a competent, pretty woman struggling against male prejudice...
I know, it's pretty much too late. especially now, where it's expected all FPS be exactly the same and have no humor or interesting mechanics whatsoever, with a bald male protagonist lead who never talks.
bully is the best rockstar game imo.
it easily had the most interesting world and things to do, because of the limitations they set up for themselves. it forced them to get creative, and pump the world full of little secrets. shame all rockstar cares about now is GTA.
pictured a newfriend prepubescent squeeker yelling lyrics of a half decent song failing to be hip.
best parts of conker are all the references and conkers lines. mighty poo falls flat.
"Were you parents related? Like before they were married?"
>It's a spiritual sequel to Killer7!
>Look at our game full of Killer7 references!
Nah Suda why don't you just make a sequel, or better yet a prequel.
God tier taste.
Mine would have to be Oni, from way back when Bungie actually made good games. I played the shit out of it on my Ps2 when I was younger and still pop it in on occasion.
>seamless meld of melee combat and gunplay
>Pretty engaging story.
>dat neo-futuristic setting
>absolutely stellar soundtrack
>still one of the best MC's ever.
Diablo 2, especially after LOD. Too bad the master copies of diablo 3 got stolen from blizzard's offices and then they were hit by 747s full of terrorists and then the wreckage was nuked by the Chechnya, right before it was supposed to ship.
mfw co op was controlling two different aspects of the characters and mind control!
Tomb Raider Legend-Anniversary-Underworld. Don't anyone dare say there is a sequel, there is none and never will be.
Agreed. I hate it how people disregard Demon's Souls in favor of Dark Souls. Dark was good but Demon's blew it out of the water. The B-Team game will never exist for me, like how Bioshock 2 doesn't exist.
I take back the squeeker bit.
Mighty poo is still sub-par and didnt diserve to be in the game
>we will never know what Ashley plans to do with that awesome back skin tattoo
Definitely Mirror's Edge. Honestly the story is not that great, but it's adequate. What I really enjoyed was the atmosphere and that fuckin gameplay. I've never had so much fun or played a game over as many times as I have this. Technically there's a reboot coming out sometime next year, but up until now I've always prayed for a sequel.
Doesn't Dan Hauser constantly talk about a Bully sequel? I thought it was Rockstar's next game for real
Anyway, no 3D Dynamite Headdy is inexcusable, the mechanic has been done to death now but it's solid and reliable. I want the crazy conceptual visuals in full glorious 3d, like a big open world platforming explore-em-up
Studio doesn't exist anymore.
Tony Jay is dead.
Series got its 'reboot' in the form of Nosgoth, the L4D Survival Mode wannabe that hasn't got anything to do with the lore and just uses it because using leftovers from a dead franchise is easier than making your own universe.
Why even live.
>ctrl + f
Most of the Acclaim catalog. I mean Vexx for one is a game I'd love to see a sequel to, especially considering the ending is a cliffhanger. Shadowman begs for an HD remastering with a proper sequel (or just fix SM2) Seems these days lack a good creepy platformer. Weird that I list those together, since the collectables were the same between them.
I think it might, it's too easy, all the different cliques and stuff. It would be cliche shit if it was all kegbros and potheads and mean girls and feminazis, but the caricatures are still more then prevalent. One of the things that made Bully so good was it's vague timeless setting, you had computer science geeks and greasers, victorian freakshows and fireworks launchers, but somehow it all fit together. That playfully gothic undertone was completely unexpected and worked really well.
I guess I want it to be set in a high school but maybe Jimmy is a janitor or substitute now and has to work his way to the top of the teacher tree
The narration, the goddamn music, the lore, the setting, fucking everything. People say the combat was lacklustre, but I really liked it.
The story ended in a good way, but I just want more of that kinda game. Transistor was a HUGE disappointment
You wouldnt be playing the teacher as much as sabotaging other teachers lessons, helping kids pull pranks on other teachers to gain authority, winning kids and teachers approval etc. I dunno what they would do about lessons, maybe you have to keep kids attention by throwing fireworks at them or something
when's Manhunt 3?
>first game was the best
>2 had better gameplay but those color effects ruined the executions
>both have good story about one being a snuff film and the other being about a guy who volunteered on a personality experiment
They are so much better than TLOU.
Ratchet and Clank: Deadlocked. It might not be as good as some of the other games, but it used most of the refined features from GC felt so good to play. I also loved AC: Silent Line even though a lot of people either bitch about the story being weaker than some of the other AC games or the customization lacking.
I felt like if they went any further in age with Jimmy none of the weapons would make sense to use. They should just have it star someone related to him. Like a nephew or something who transferred to his old school long after he graduated. Jimmy's reputation would be known, but you'd be constantly shat on for it. Jimmy could be the janitor and your mentor of sorts. Imagine uncle Jimmy giving you advice on how to tear down the school and win their respect.
Actually ambitious (if a little badly executed) gameplay ideas. It seemed like the kind of game that was going to get better with each sequel, not worse. Branching storyline with unique and interesting perpsectives on a single situation. Fun combat, incredible graphics for its time. Medium-paced weighted animations. Killer music.
>tfw it will never get a HD version with online campaign coop
Mechwarrior (online doesn't count)
Megaman Legends 3
Mark of the Ninja
STALKER is so incredibly good.
The game I'd nominate is Unreal 2.
Most people think it's ok (or fucking shit because it made the grave mistake not being Unreal 1) but I fucking love it.
I stand by the opinion that it was ahead of its time and basically Mass Effect before there was a Mass Effect.
The planets are all different and fun and the ship sequences between missions where you can talk to your team, I had a fucking blast with it. And in my opinion those characters were just as, if not even more, memorable than those in Mass Effect.
i'm 20 and it still makes my heart pound. fucking motherfucker.
they were the shit
i played HOURS of flatout fifa nfl nhl anything and everything that came on that little disk
watched the previews, got hyped
fuck yes man
Spartan total warrior
Armed and Dangerous
Too Human, i understand its generally disliked and shit but the design and premis had me hooked and i reckon it would make for a sick comic or books
yeah the creators took it up with Epic for not providing an engine resulting in the really long time it took to make and it backfired big time, the judge ruled it to basically be burnt like books
pretty bullshit imo I was just gonna try and download it.
prob gonna grab a copy from ebay or something
> Read Piggsy fight
> Neighbor revs up his weed trimmer
> Damn near shit myself
Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries
Mechwarrior Online does not exist. I refuse to believe it.
I still play this game for hours without end
TO THE WALL
Really the only glaring issue I think is the awful UI (oh god why do you have to cycle through each mech instead of having a neat grid/list to pick them from) and graphics, but the in-mission gameplay itself is still fine and shits all over MWO
If they ever do a remake, they should totally rip on XCOM and do an antfarm view of your dropship, where you can see yourself and mercs milling about and all your mechs in the hangar and shit
Free-roam piloting the dropship around the galaxy would be neat too
This and Monkey Island 2, but that one is a favorite already
Sleeping Dogs. They tell us a sequel is in the making, but they also told us they would announce it this year, and all the gaming conferences have come and gone and yet no word on it.
Squeenix stop making more FF games and fucking tell your teams to work on Triad Wars.
I loved everything about this game. Everything. Gameplay, artstyle, setting, characters, story, vehicles, sexy french dancers. You name it, I loved it.
who remembers zone of the enders
why did this awesome franchise die
>there will never be another Panzer Dragoon
Such fucking bullshit.
I never see anyone talk about pic related
It's a great rpg and better than any FF since VII
I came to this thread to post Maximo. Can't believe this shit got cancelled. It inspired the project that got me my scholarship and eventually career.
Come, friend, let me show you a time portal to the games of old: http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Main_Page
They never outsold FF at the time, the fact that Sony thought they could is pretty sad, but I wish they decided to hold off its release until AFTER I think it was VII it competed against. And it was on the same fucking console too.
