Does it count as canceled it it got completely changed?
>the Wii was going to have a survival horror game
>but just like everything else about the Wii it just didn't pan out
I was really excited for this, but I think that's just because my friend was super into Starcraft and I didn't actually like playing, but wanted to share his enthusiasm for the setting.
You telling me those pictures are the same game before and after??
>Most /v/ is not old enough to remember simsville.
>tfw games with so much personality are "reworked" into bland lifeless games
Why even live?
It was going to be like Simcity but on a smaller scale so you could zoom into the city and see the individual sims like you were playing the sims. I can't remember why exactly they cancelled it, I think they said some other game did what they were wanting to do. Also it would have been shit anyway.
Hey anons, what was that goddamn game that ubisoft presented I'd say about 2 E3s ago where the focus was an arena team based combat FPS? They brought computers on stage and did a demo, and I never heard of it since. what was it called?
It's fucking hilarious how this got cancelled
He punishes his fans for what people who never liked him or his games did, thereby making some of his fans hate him
Although honestly I dont know how you could justify giving money for this mediocre game when sucha scumbag was behind it
Wow. Thanks for describing the picture for us!
I heard they turned it into what it is now due to pressure from the company that bought out his company. Turns out a shitty cellphone gaming microtransaction based publisher doesn't want to make good things, who'da guessed?
Regardless, doxing a developer (or anyone for that matter) and publicly harassing them because you don't agree with them is reprehensible and something only an edgy 14 year old would find acceptable.
I don't like Phil Fish, but the way that he's treated by the "#GamerGate" assholes is embarrassing.
>tfw you loved the first game but a sequel will never happen
>This was cancelled for 'quality reasons'
>That 'other' C&C game was good enough to ship
I believed EA cared about the C&C franchise at one point. I still wonder if that was true.
the real kicker is after he canceled it he tried to make a thread on /v/ blaming us for its cancellation as an anonymous poster with a pic of the tweet in the OP.
Only thing is the dumb motherfucker forgot to edit out the delete button in the picture of the tweet, proving it was him.
I came to point out you're retarded due to the fact that he couldn't even describe the picture properly, but then I noticed you're a tripfag, so you're just a fucking retard anyway.
I thought it was a Cave Story-esque game, not a clone.
And even then, I still really wanted that game...
>tfw no Cave Story 2 or any suitable replacement
It looked spooky, but the baby dolls thing was retarded. It's not Silent Hill. You can't explain fucking chattering animated dolls as "bio weapons."
you actually kind of can
apparently originally the puppets from DMC were zombies with robot parts hooked up to them so they can be controlled
they could easily just hook those up to the babies
>Dev stopped working on the game because he got his life together
I'M HAPPY THAT YOU'RE ENJOYING LIFE AND ALL
BUT COME ON MAN
AT LEAST RELEASE A FUCKING DEMO OR WHATEVER
I just want at least another game that does what Cave Story did right, I mean, the story could be literally worth nothing, or hell, even just based on that damn T.V. I forget the name of.
I never even knew if he was a damn T.V. or not, fuck I need to replay that game.
Emphasis on "kind of." Why would you need baby sized robo-zombies? They have full sized ones without even the effort of animatronic limbs.
I can sort of justify the knight armors stuffed with Plagas. But there is no reason you'd need baby-sized dolls beyond just being obnoxious.
Guild Wars: Utopia
Oh the adventures we could have had..
I don't get what that game was even supposed to be. Just some visual interface for coding? Wouldn't it be more effective to just... code? Although Notch expecting everyone else to make his game for him is par for the course.
I'd have thought for sure I'd see more of it in this thread
Fuck this shit just makes me angry, that along with the fact that we'll never see lily bergamo as it's own game.
INFINITY THE QUEST FOR EARTH
I think I wanted this game for a different reason than everyone else. I'm just a sucker for AUs.
What if... the right-side game BECOMES the left-side game later on? Like, it starts out as gritty bumfights, then more and more fantastic elements are added until HOLY SHIT IT'S JUST LIKE MY JAPANESE ANIMES?
I can't help but wonder if it was just never gonna be like that. It's easy to blame it on EA and say that they ruined it from Will Wright's idea, but I always wonder if Will Wright saw for himself that the game he wanted to make just wasn't possible or as fun as it looked.
Implying I'm still not Smash begging on threads not related to smash.
>mfw i don't have a magic wand
>mfw i can't wave it and combine infinity, outerra, space engine, kerbal space program, elite dangerous, star citizen and alpha centauri into one perfect seamless game
Space Engineers is pretty fun for the creative and mechanical aspect of things. It's getting pretty nuts with what you can make now, like spider walkers and other insane projects people have come up with.
But there's really no exploration aspect, at least not yet.
That's why they showed two 3 minute trailers last year and 40 seconds of new footage this year, as well as it going to be at TGS, and already have merchandise for the game on sale, the fact that it's mainline FF obviously guarantees it having a worldwide release.
>they stopped this to work on GW2 instead
>GW2 was a fucking disaster
His last update was in like 2012, it is pretty much canned at this point I feel.
Cyberpunk is still in development. they announced it really early so people can help them make it. you can go to their forums and give them ideas and shit.
the game is set to be released on 2016/17.
CDPR said that they want the graphics of the game to look exactly or even better than the pre-rendered trailer.
i remember people were discussing the combat in the game. they wanted some input on Hand to hand combat.
They spent two episodes of the Clone Wars tv show marketing it.
what a waste.
In May 2013 Kotaku reported rumors that development has moved to Arkane Studios and that the development has been rebooted scrapping all of Human Head Studios work and with a targeted release of 2016. It has also been reported that Obsidian Entertainment worked on the game at one point for at least a few months. In August 2013 Bethesda Softworks' Pete Hines denied rumors that Arkane Studios was working on the game. However, on August 15, 2013, it was reported that leaked emails confirmed the game was in fact in development.
It's totally fucked. Never happening. And if it does, it will be Xbone exclusive and look nothing like it did.
No problem, if you like those types of games, try out the "Chasm" game. It is similar to icono and has a demo.
Try reading threads sometime. Or even ctrl+F, it helps.
No. Because Terraria started updating again and the PC version is fucking great.
Starbound hasn't had an update since march, has only 1/10 of the shit they 'promised' and the next version is gonna be 1.0/release which is gonna be barebones.
>tfw no hunter stealth cyborg chop chop lightning game
Parts of the last arc of season 5
ashoka escapes down through level 1313. It was a very well done arc and got me even more hyped for the game.
then it got cancelled out of nowhere
then the dev crew revealed that it was a boba fett game.
>there will never be a Kirby game made by
I know we are always very quiet on the news front but a lot has been happening over the past few months with development that we are super happy about. We just wanted to let you know we’re still alive and kicking!
Routine has been advancing very well lately, as we’ve been making a lot of progress in all areas of Development. Some of the Sound work we have been doing has been super exciting, especially as we have been working on implementing some cool functionality with Physics Objects!
We’ve also begun to Polish and Finalize a few small areas in Routine, which has been thrilling as were seeing less and less placeholder work in the game.
Our weekly play tests are definitely feeling a lot less *Playtesty*, and we honestly couldn’t be happier about that!"
You dun goofed
It'll happen eventually
Speaking of which, does a game have to have been actually made in order to get cancelled?
That's from Battlefront 3, the Darth Maul one was Clone Wars-related because it had Pre Vizsla in it.
>had that as my background for a week or so in college after it got announced
>classmate sees it and says that it's not going to get released
Fuck you, man.
>Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
>The game was supposed to have a sequel. Many of the characters and enemies were animated. However, Swingin' Ape studios was bought by Blizzard Entertainment to develop Starcraft Ghost, and the sequel was put on hold.
Fucking Blizzard, killing off two fun looking games
It still hurts.
It was the only thing other thing I was looking forward to next to PlanetSide 2, and then it gets canned and PlanetSide 2 releases as a piece of shit.
Nah, EA actually didn't do anything to Spore, there was a group inside Maxis that thought the game wouldn't sell and wanted to make it cutesy shit. There was an interview with the defacto leader I read a while back and he said something about how guys would come up with all these crazy evolutionary mechanics and Wright would come over and declare it the greatest thing he'd ever seen in a game but this fag and his friends thought it looked too hard to sell and instead wanted to dumb it all down and add in googly eyes, glasses and socks in character creation; I wish I was joking about the last part.
That group used to convince all new employees to join them and they eventually mutinied against Wright and forced him to change the game into the shitpile we got today
>There will never be a port of Metal Arms to the PC with mouse aiming, 60fps, and 64 player online team deathmatch and coop.
It always has to be the games that try new things that get fucked over.
The Crossing aka further proving that Ubisoft has no creativity and steals ideas from better companies. Oh well, at least Arkane went on to make Dishonored.
I played it and actually quite enjoyed it.
I liked it, the small scale was a bit annoying but I was still able to make some pretty big cities. The level of detail was really nice, and so were the various themes and stuff, like dictator, green, cottage, etc. I personally enjoyed being a dictator the most.
>it's basically some cunt's personal Twitter, where they don't breathe a word about Routine, ever
So what are the chances that they're not even working on the game any more?
>wait a minute that's not cancelled-
It would look good on the Wii U, too. But it's never going to happen. What are Retro even making?
It never stood a chance
At least I think it was cancelled
Note: the general consensus at /kspg/ is that you should torrent the game, rather than purchasing it. The developer, Squad, is incompetent, extremely mismanaged, and is very resistant to all feedback or criticism. Furthermore, the game itself is poorly made, lacks a proper development team, and is in need of a serious physics and optimization overhaul, something that Squad is likely never to give it. In fact, we at /kspg/ believe that they are planning on abandoning development of the game altogether at some point within the next year. They do not deserve your shekels.
I think it was a positive change that a game in the Metal Gear franchise stopped pretending that it had anything to do with stealth, or that any part of the story or dialogue would be believable or able to be taken seriously. So it became a great action game that's deliberately ridiculous and doesn't apologize for itself.
Unlike Phantom Pain which wants to be all emotional and deep
and nuclearwhile having tactical horse shit, Fulton goat rescue, and bikini cardboard cutout distractions.
Essentially the same thing that happened to minecraft, happened to ksp. The devs became so successful, especially in the mod scene, that they had no incentive to continue development. Their main business plan became the following
>find super popular new mod: examples being planes, docking, multiplayer
>hire the modders if they're good enough
>get them to port their mod
>if they're not squad material, just try and figure out how they managed to do what they did, and hamfist that into ksp.
This is especially evident with multiplayer. A multiplayer mod was recently released for ksp, even though the devs swore up and down that multiplayer was never going to happen, was impossible, etc. However, this mod comes out, and suddenly they announce multiplayer.
The worst part is this. Multiplayer came with the price of scrapping a feature that core fans have wanted for YEARS because they thought it would be "too hard" or not fun.
>tl;dr, Notch Syndrome.
"Has" come a long way. Not anymore. Not to mention that the regular updates suck ass and have an exponentially inverse relation of content and development time
>yfw chucklefish is slowing development of Starbound to a halt, eventually they will stop posting new info altogether.
The game is as good as cancelled.
>no update since March
Top kek, they literally ran with people's money.
It should also be added that due to it's popularity, its demographic has shifted from space sim fans to teen minecraft fans. And of course, with casuals, comes casualization. Evidence: NASA parts, easymode rebalancing, and manuever nodes.
Pretty much. They put more planning and effort on "setting up their super-cool offices in London" than on the actual product that's supposed to be giving them the means of living there.
Doesn't help they're taking on ANOTHER project on top of this.
They're working on another game called The Whore of Babylon that is similar to L.A Noire, at least in terms of how it plays. They're having issues securing a publisher because some employees have come out saying their working conditions were atrocious, a couple of senior devs came out saying that this was not the case, but it's not unreasonable to assume that senior people were simply getting better conditions than other staff.
I don't know what this game was gonna be about but shit though gamecube needed some games.
.24 released july 2014
.23.5 (le nasa face) released april 2014
.23 released december 2013
.22 released october 2013
.21 released july 2013
those imply content
>.24 included half assed (and many impossible) contracts
>.23.5 included half a dozen parts that are way overpowered so billy can reach orbit
>.23 included 1 shitty part and the ability to start a fuel tank at less than full
>.22 included a half assed science system (which has been neutered in later updates too) and a couple biomes
>.21 included actual fixes of shit
updates are getting LESS FREQUENT and LESS CONTENT each time
SIDF pls go
Nope. Wright himself changed the game into what we have today. He says he went overboard with the direction we got, that he should've been more ambitious rather than believe in accessibility.
>All those "iconic games no one played".
So essencially, the root of the problem is what people don't buy good games because they can't see anything but heavily marketed games on the shelves?
Its 1:30 AM and I have to sleep for work so excuse a shitty post
So here's what happens
>Squad is a marketing company
>Game starts out as semi serious spess building/exploration/flightsim
>It becomes popular
>They add more people to the team, even hire on a modder who at that point had added a whole new dimension to the game (Spaceplanes)
>Fuck around releasing updates for awhile, still feels like the early ksp
NOW HERES WHERE THINGS GO WRONG
>Retards running the forums
>The audience being reddit 12 year olds
So what does squad do?
>Last really big update I can think of was probably .17-.18
>These added whole new planets, docking (NEVER GONNA HAPPEN oh look somebody released a mod), electricity (Mod), unmanned vessels (mod), and an overhaul of the models to be less placeholdery and some other shit I forget
Now heres where things go to shit
>C7 leaves over something, Spaceplanes remain relatively unchanged since they were added
>Entire mining/resource system finished and ready for update, removed because they think its too hard for the children that suck their dick on the forums
Did I mention that they refuse to listen to any criticism or anything besides "SQUAD I LOVE YOU?"
>Dev team slowly gets bloated with more community managers and people who can't make a game
>Updates show no effort and slow to a crawl
>Game runs like shit, whenever asked to please please optimize it, squad blames it on unity, clearly can't be assed to do it themselves
>General attitude is now to make things hilariously kerbal, aka everything needs 6million horribly rigged up parts since the devs refuse to add scalable parts since "We don't want people using one part for everything"
>The horrible joints between parts not getting fixed although modders have done it themselves
>No multicore support
Now to whine about squad some more
Last update took about 8 months to come out
>A horribly rushed "career mode" that is so unpolished that certain missio CONT
MGS has always been about very surreal, often humorous, antics involved in a complex and, in my opinion, intriguing storyline with in-depth character development and emotional stories.
The whole tactical horse, fulton sheep and even the iconic cardboard box are funny, yes, but in the context of Metal Gear it works, as that is how it's always been. You cannot have a Metal Gear game without that sort of stuff, that wonky, surreal humor, that emotion surrounded by an amazing OST.
And remember, just because the stealth in Metal Gear isn't just a case of 'hide in the shadows', does not mean it is not an amazing stealth system. MGS1 was stunning for it's time, MGS2 was great and then MGS3 was mind-blowing with it's camo index and the like.
3 years and not single shred of new screenshots or gameplay. Broken promises of "i..i..it's c..c..coming out guys" from Sony mean nothing to me, this game is dead
Certain missions are impossible, I.E "Test (Part that spawns anchored to launchpads) ON MOON SURFACE"
>Super overpowered parts added
>Science system that only has been fleshed out on the main planet and its two tiny moons
>Two new engines that literally are config tweaks of existing parts and new models for them
I can't even remember what .23 did
So squad was bitching about 64 bit being too much work and that we have to make do with 32 bit, despite all the crashes since they can't be bothered to code. Suddenly, about two weeks before .24 gets released, some guy on the forums hulksmashes the game files together to create a really buggy 64 bit. Squad pounces on this like a mexican jumping through a hole in the border, and adds it to the game. It is currently amazingly unstable and fucks up right clicking in windows. One of the 6million retards they hired to sperg on their forums and on reddit made a name for himself on /vg/ for acting like somebody out of the SPED class. He has no programming or social skills, and clearly isn't up for the job. He gets a promotion to programmer. Devnotes are a joke, updates take forever for things that require a week or less of effort, and the entire attitude is changing to minecraft transplants who don't want to learn how to use the game, I.E the default throttle on craft spawn being set to 50% open "So new players can have fun." They seriously encourage not reading how to play the game, and instead just turning it on and pressing space, taking a screenshot, and posting it on their forums.
Theres a ton of other shit that probably is worse than this, just way too tired to textwall about it anymore.
>tldr: Around a beaner, get meaner
I thought he cancelled it because the person who programmed and developed Fez left the company, and in reality Phil is just a hack developer who couldn't make a game if his life depended on it.
Like he literally could not make Fez 2.
Sounds super shitty. Thanks anon!
GBC version was an okay game but I really wish it had been on the PSX.
No problem m8
I still want my real-time space RTS where I can
tenderly cuddleloli Hitler while I take over the galaxy as glorious empire of the rising sun.
>nintendo is rumored to moneyhat three thought cancelled games for Wii U ala Devil's Third
what games in this thread are they, bros?
So wait, KSP is shit? I was having fun, albeit the missions are quite difficult and the updates aren't that cool, i figured squad was working on longer term projects, what of 0.25? If the situation is bad, how can it be fixed?
it's getting a wii u release instead you numbnuts
>the missions are quite difficult and the updates arent that cool,
It's not going to get better, what you're playing now is the result of it getting worse.
>how can we fix it
squad HQ takes over, fires the current dev team except for essential members, and rehires devs from before 0.17
August 14 was the last update to tell everyone they are still working on the game. and their twitter is still active, meaning they are still working on it. if it was cancelled, they would have said so.
The devoloper said that he didn't have any intentions on updating the game regularly. He relased the alpha to see if people liked the core combat mechanics and then went back to work on the game alone.
Yet in that very same article it says the dev/publisher who were going to pick up the rights were unsuccessful
Cry On. It was to be an Xbox 360 RPG by Mistwalker and cavia, who were later dropped from the project for Artoon. Not a whole lot was known about the game before it was cancelled.
The lead artist was Kimihiko Fujisaka (Drakengard series, The Last Story) while the game was being developed by cavia, then it shifted to Manabu Kusunoki (Panzer Dragoon 1-3, Crimson Dragon).
I bought the console just for that game and Project Ego. I still watch the trailer from time to time.
Have patience anon, they're small devs and all that. At least they aren't throwing a kickstarter and being in perpetual early access, being pretty much a scam
Almost 400 posts
No mention of legends 3.
legends never die one reporter played the demo. this means we could still obtain it if capcom would jew-out enough. they're in a financial crisis for now, and a handsome amount of money could make them pick it up again. I dont condone of being jewed, but for legends 3 i would make an exception
scrolled through the entire thread. Only found 2 instances in which artwork was used and no discussion of it.
Am I just missing that they were mentioned and not discussed? Because just mentioning it should be enough to start discussion, and I'm clearly not seeing it.
shit fucking sucks because FPS games are still popular as fuck, and SoC was just so damn great, that online game looks like an abomination
fuck that russian faggot who took all the money and ran I hope putin sends him to the gulag, that fucking faggot
Guys what was that first person fantasy game which for the time looked absolutely fucking amazing back in about 04.
I think it started with 'Project ...'
i remember goblins and a fking dragon while u wield a bow
>tfw the MMORTS genre is deader than ded right now.
Welp, at least i got to play the closed beta...
80% of /v/ is too young to remember it
You mean Chris Hecker? Yeah I recall the same interview. That guy is now an indie game enthusiast. He left Maxis after Spore.
Man I want to punch his stupid face.
it does say a bunch of companies are after the ip so someone still wants to make it, so if we're lucky it'll go through and someone actually releases it
The MMORTS design was scrapped after a few rounds of closed beta for some reason. The game was redesigned into ASSFAGGOTS, and then scrapped entirely due to some management shit within the studio.
The beta was kinda fun with 16 v 16 battles, but i'd say the gameplay was inferior to Shattered Galaxy.
This image always makes me think it would be awesome to make a game where you just bro it up with demons that are bored and sarcastic, just chill and do chill shit. No taking over the world and big bad plots of evil with gravelly voices. Just, I don't know, shoot hoops, or explore the underworld planes and find weird trippy shit. Have lots and lots of dialogue with tons of choices with your demon bros that directs the narrative of the game entirely.
Most of the time it is just kind of a lie.
You have a room with 16 players, each controlling a group of 8-16 units. No base building, just moving your units around, fighting the enemy for control points.
If you get wiped outt, you just respawn them at your base, usually at some resource cost so you can run out if you die too much.
Theres obviously a lot of "progression" shit, unlocking new units, customising them, getting new abilities etc.
Thats how it worked in Shattered Galaxy (released in the fucking 2001) and thats how it worked in EoN beta.
The genre pretty much died due to the ASSFAGGOTS genre, as it accomplishes the same thing, but with 1 hero unit instead of a bunch, and fewer people on each team.
I have only seen one true open-world MMORTS, where you actually had a huge world and controlled an army , able to move around it. But t was written with Ruby on Rails, and died in early beta. You can look up Ballerium if you want more info.
It's like you don't even sci-fi.
>Extremely shit unit movement, like in WC3 if it operated in groups of 60 units all the time
>Netcode probably wouldnt handle more than 30-40 active players at once
>Even the devs probably had no idea how the game was supposed to be played besides "Well you capture cities and then fight for cities".
I still miss it, if just for its uniqueness ;_;
>>Even the devs probably had no idea how the game was supposed to be played besides "Well you capture cities and then fight for cities".
I'd believe it. Capturing cities was seriously a pain in the ass. The only way I got the one I did was by glitching out the neutral defenses.
And it could have been so much better than what we got
this, on the other hand, seemed totally shit. I'm glad they got Red Storm on board
Although a true Ghost Recon sequel died as well
I'm still in denial and it hurts.
I'd buy that piece of shit PS4 in a heartbeat if The Last Guardian was announced for it.
this is why I seriously don't understand publishers, the idea is right there, you fucking own it, and you know people want it, but then go out of your way to NOT make the game
>free radical, we want TS4!
>but we're dying
>hey crytek bought us! ask them for it, maybe they will loosen the leashes to let us work on it
>crytek, we want TS4!
>naaaaaaaaaaaaah, have some generic modern military shooters instead
people have been fucking screaming for it forever, and the early games are considered classics, but crytek is ignoring this obvious money machine so they can make HOMEFRONT FUCKING 2, A GAME LITERALLY *SO* GENERIC THAT IT KILLED THQ WITH BLANDNESS
what the actual fuck are they thinking?
then again, aren't crytek on the ropes as far as money goes? it would be the most suitable justice in the world if homefront then killed crytek too
