Because he's in alliance with the other remaining Sith who were part of Revan's Empire. The alliance is broken during the events of the game but presumably he enjoys the taste of life filled Force rich planets like Telos to somewhere like Malachor V or Korriban.
>>263695896 He needs people to run the ship, and if you notice he is constantly feeding of their force essence or whatever, draining them into husks.
At one point I think Kreia mentions that the Exile does something similar to his/her own crew members. Well there not a whole lot of stuff we see him directly do but Kreia mentions that he really has no care for the Sith teachings, and that once the Jedi are all gone, he'd switch to eating Sith.
>>263697028 Yea but also I think (it's been a while so I may be a bit off on this) but basically the exile and Darth N are both wounds in the force. People (the party members) are drawn to him/her and he/she brings out the force in them and gets stronger from it. Evil Exiles feast on their power and turn them into their own loyal, dark thralls, kinda like Darth N, while Good Exiles influence them in the opposite way.
>>263698534 It was still a bit vague even with the Restoration Mod, but it definitely turned the game from an 8/10 into a 10/10 game. Having replayed it recently its now one of the best RPGs ever made.
>>263699316 According to kotor's lovely moral system in order to be powerful you have to be a bleeding heart liberal jedi or a merciless edgelord sith. I love kotorII but the lack of a neutral path is a bit restricting.
>>263700084 Yea, and thats why I much, much, MUCH prefer kotorII to I. But at the end of the day it's still good guy ending A or Bad guy ending B. I would have loved and ending where you actually join kreia in destroying the force or something like that.
btw what was you guys' fav party members? I always seemed to lead more towards Atton and Handmaiden for a while.
>>263700568 Kreia didn't actually want to destroy the Force. It was a ruse designed to lure you back to Malachor V to end it all and wipe away the last remnants of the old Jedi and Sith, building a new, less shitty and less arrogant Jedi Order in the process.
>>263700568 >But at the end of the day it's still good guy ending A or Bad guy ending B.
I agree, Obsidian's approach to morality is to add more variables. For instance look at Citadel Station. If Bioware had made it would have been:
>Ithorians who just want to make the world a better place
>Laughably evil Czerka who just want to make a profit
Instead Obsidian made it, so it's more like:
>Ithorians who just want to make the world a better place >But they can't budget properly
>Laughably evil Czerka who just want to make a profit >But they manage things better
This isn't really grey morality, it's still pretty black and white. The Ithorians are still resolutely the good guys in this scenario even though they might be doing more harm than good. They just turn the choice from a moral one into an economic one and get innundated with praise for it. It's quite daft.
>>263700730 It went surprisingly well, Malak was the fight that gave me the most "trouble" and you can see how that went.
In kotor 2 it's riddiculously strong, easier than a lightsaber playthrough if you know what you're doing.
>>263696710 >>263697028 yeah, but you're not exactly like nihilus nihilus feeds and feeds and sucks it right out of everyone until they're dry you're kind of more like a drain or a sieve, you feed on the excess that surrounds you that they give off
>>263701002 I honestly hated G0-T0. I used to wish I could just space the fucker. :p >>263701102 Hmm, I could be wrong but I thought she saw the force as constricting and controlling and grew to hate it. Thats why she saw the exile as so important, he/she could actually cut contact with the force and live without it. If I remember right she scolds you if you rely on the force too much throughout the game aswell.
>>263701517 it is still a moral choice it's just a choice of what you value more: short-term good or long-term good or you can be a psychotic crazy person if that's your thing too, but then kreia will bitch you out for being a fucking lunatic
>>263702312 I've heard about that shit. Lucas always said that the good guys have to win in the end no matter what. I also find it very funny ( and incredibly disheartening) that my favourite piece of Star Wars media has been basically made non canon to fit some hack who can't write a decent story's vision and a shitty MMO by a company that hasn't made anything good in years.
>>263702991 There worst part for me I think is that hack you mentioned started the whole thing. Jesus Christ why does Lucas have to be so narrow minded like that? I get that it's his thing and everything but the only reason Obsidian did the game in the first place is because they loved star wars/
not sure if I like LS virgin/up-tight princess or DS apprentice/submissive/switch-to-dominatrix more, though
>>263703134 >I hope now that Disney has taken over Star Wars they allow for some path in between the goody boy scout and the dark edgelord who kills for DARKNESS' sake You see, it's sad we've come to see it this way today.
I just hope JJ doesn't go full Star trek with le funny references xD and everything looking like the same, sterile iWorlds of every other modern sci-fi.
I don't think it should be that way, but fuck I'm not in charge of canon. KOTOR didn't have enough grey and neither did TSL, let's see some good (or at least not 71edgy) darksiders for once. The worst part of this, and lambasting the total lack of situational awareness by the Jedi Council or Republic, means you get shit on by hardcore fans who claim
"It's Star WARS" "Of COURSE morality needs to be binary, herr derr canon says so"
>>263703231 Fucking Obsidian man. First KOTORII and then Fallout: New Vegas, they are like the kings of making way better sequels with way shittier budgets and time constants. In a perfect world they would have the rights to both imo.
Oh man, this was my first dice-based RPGs and with a VERY limited english knowledge paired with a half-done, inconsistent translation (where attack and damage was the same word wihtout any indication that they do seperate things)... I still discover new things i always misunderstood every playthrough.
Though im too much of a prefectionist now to play properly: whenever i get a new team member i never lvl them up until they are turned jedi, and almost always sacrafice most of the gameplay to have them turned jedi. So in the first half, almost everyone apart from protag everyone is gimped (whihc is fun when half the missions are done by split partys), and for the rest its demigods tearing the galaxy a new one. While being filthy rich as well ofc.
So, what color is your saber? who is your "must jedify" party meber and whats his/her sabercolor?
IF your answer dont involve silver handmaiden in her mothres robe you are objectvely wrong
>>263704386 There actually isn't much point in gimping them, a lot of the feats they get from their initial classes are really good. Mira for instance is much better with two blasters and all of the precise shot feats than she'll ever be with lightsabers. All of them have low wisdom meaning they can't really cast forcepowers well anyway, so you only really need to give them buffing powers like speed or heal. This means that missing out on adding force powers from earlier levels isn't that big of a deal since all of the offensice powers like stasis field, lightning etc aren't worth taking anyway.
Handmaiden is the only one that's even worth the effort to convert, the rest are better as the default class for most of the game.
>>263705664 Well, as i said i didnt know jack shit about the more delicate workings of the game, so i just stacked wis/cha on them and had them runing around with dual sabers casting heal while i force lightning/force wave'd the room. The reason for saving levels was so they have a bigger manapool to be healbitches, and have more than 1-2 powers.
>>263700730 Im currently doing a kotorII run with dual blasters and armor and its working out just fine
Going all powers that arent armor restricted, mostly just CC. Its pretty important to go consular for force focus so that your cc actually works. But with high enough dex and limiting the people that are hitting you all at once it works really well. Do really good damage with master rapid fire
I am however worried when i get later in the game and have to deal with lightsaber enemies. Hopefully can still hit them
>>263704386 I always give the PC a dual-blade and then go for whatever with everyone else, and make each blade color as different as possible so when there's 4+ saber blades all attacking at the same time it's a fucking rainbow of death. I've never gotten my entire party jedi because i dont know the metagame to pick which dialogue option for each character on each planet, but i'll always end up giving everyone force heal so i never have to worry about health packs anyways
one time i tried convincing disciple to become jedi and he didnt want to so i trained him as a blaster master, then talked to him again and then he wanted to be a jedi, thus giving him fuck-all for skill points to put into melee/lightsaber training
the one thing i wish was in the game was a romance sub-plot akin to something from me1, but all i got with Visas in my male jedi was her confessing her love to me and us "seeing" each other through the force
watching Visas and Handmaiden have small catfights over me was funny though
Actually, it's neat seeing her DS persona in KOTOR 2 because she clearly loves Revan, wants to follow only his leadership, doesn't want to destroy the galaxy, and wants a united, non-backstabby Sith to take over and institute order.
Call me /pol/ but that seems bretty gud. Especially when KOTOR 2 casts moral grey on everything.
>>263713117 There was plenty to wok with too, you have a young girl who turned out to have a special talent and as a result had all this attention and expectation forced on her. She knows she's nothing without her gift and constantly tries to compensate for it. She was there when Darth Revan was captured but was handed him on a platter.
There's a lot going on there and they could have told a really interesting story about someone failing to live up to high expectations, maybe falling to the dark side in her attempt to so, but instead we get:
>I hate my mum >Oh look I'm evil now >Never mind good again lol
Seriously fuck Bioware.
>>263713286 Zalbaar is really good with two swords and power attack. He's one of the best fighting party members you can get, the others being Juhani, Jolee and Canderous.
>>263699316 >>263699728 >>263702312 >tfw you will never play as a dark jedi who isn't an asshole or an edgelord but chooses to embrace life, emotion and desire, according to the Sith Code. >You will never skirt around the Outer Rim with your small crew, traveling the galaxy and bringing freedom to the oppressed and eliminating evil. >You will Force Choke on slave traders or Force Lightning to escape a bar fight. >You will never be forced into a Highlander-style duel with another dark jedi/Sith who wants to kill you for prestige/betraying the corrupt Sith code that they follow, then take his lightsaber after you slay him. >You will never have to team up with a Jedi to take down a greater evil. >You will never make a pilgrimage to the deserted and haunted Korriban, wandering through ancient crypts in search of greater power. >You will never make your own holocron.
I just want to be a Neutral/Chaotic Good Sith. Is that possible, /v/?
Yeah, man. Somebody should make a fucking image to chart how this works.
>Denial "Nah, man, Bioware has great stories with deep characters and nuanced morality! Really!" >Anger "HOW DARE Y'ALL MOTHERFUCKERS DO THIS TO MASS EFFECT 3/DRAGON AGE 2" >Fear "W-what if the next one's EVEN WORSE?" >Bargaining "I'll give you my virgin ass if it means a better sequel" >Acceptance "Fucking SJW dumbasses! We've lost, pack 'er up boys, they've always been this way"
I'm sorry, that would be too nuanced interesting and deep to bother coding.
Basically Jedi=good Sith=evil means this fantastic idea will never be realized.
If you think about it, a Sith or Dark Jedi could be good... just the sort of person who accepts on an even more extreme level that the ends justifies the means >implying the Jedi Council doesn't do this when they wipe Revan and try to puppet him BRAVO BIOWARE 10/10
>>263715141 >Pale >Bad Girl >Completely loyal and devoted to me and my whim. >Despite this shes still strong and powerful. >Not overly needy Could you imagine the amazing sith lord love making? I know I can, and do. ;)
>>263701757 evil exile is just like nihilus, good exile is kind of like a non evil dio, everyone is influenced by his/her "charisma" and devote themselves to the exile's casue without knowing why, but it's for the benefit of them and the universe
What is the proper planetary order in Kotor 2? My first playthrough was a blind one, so I ended up going to Narr Shadda last, and fucked up because I didn't know I could make Atton a Jedi and already gave him most of his fixed levels, so his final fight against the scarred guy was way harder than it should have been.
>>263716026 It is possible to go around the black and white. In the Clone Wars cartoon, there was a Jedi (voiced by Lee from TWD) who was extremely over-zealous and was willing to sacrifice his own non-Force troops (or have them kill each-other). In the end, they ruined it by having him say he would give himself to the other side when they take over.
>>263708954 there are some great sets of armor throughout the game that give you enough dex bonus at any dex level. I think not too far in you can find one with 11 def and +11 max dex modifier, also, if it has +7 dex, that doesn't mean +7 defense, it means up to +7 of the defense acquired from your dex stat is applied to AR. so if you have like +5 dex modifier, but your armor has 0 max dex modifier, you get nothing extra
>>263706869 >>263705676 force storm, drain life, force throw, so fucking OP jesus christ, I wanted to use other characters, but kreia was just too good, it was hard to get through the last part of the game without her and no one else trained as a jedi
>>263717172 YEah, see what I mean. There could be room to maneuver if people weren't afraid with rocking the boat of the canonverse a little harder than they did in TSL (which also suffered from the rushed due date). Instead, they refused to. Kreia gives you thought-provoking questions all through the game AND you can convince your members to join you. Bastila's Sith holocron proves she's not the cackling edgequeen she is at the end of KOTOR.
We just need to break from this light=good dark=evil bullshit. Monomyth is cute if you're in the 19th century. But today, I think it's nice to not insult the intelligence of players nd let them draw their own conclusions as to what powers are good or bad and how one ought to use them.
I'd be dark simply because I think the proper ends DOES justify any means necessary.
>>263717327 You, see all it does is both. On the one hand, the Jedi Council are fuckwits, on the other, it's because of the bad writing. With nuanced writing, you would simply realize they are simply a power espousing good rather than necessarily being it and trying to achieve their own ends, which you the player can then decide to side with or not.
>>263718683 No i mean the war on alderan, if you are darkside it makes you side with the evil general guy and you have to fight and kill Kavar, if you are good then he contacts you and you fight for the queen, and this is late game stuff when this happens as far as i know
you don't know how much I want KOTOR 3, star warsm fits so well into the RPG gameplay and narration style. people talk about pipe dream games, but I mean I'd way rather have KOTOR 3 than half life 3 or the last guardian. you could make even more beautiful environments and way bigger worlds and cooler looking animations and force powers. but I am ranting, it will never happen
>>263719679 Dude I'm right there with you, if I could have one dream game ever made it would be KOTOR III made by Obsidian. No TOR or other BS strings attached. THEY make the game with THEIR vision. Oh man what I'd do for that game....
According to Game Informers Editorial on Lucasarts These Games were in the works but were cancelled by higherup's at Lucasart' ( Specifically Jim Ward and Mostly George Lucas Himself )
Let your anger burn and realize that the reason we will probably never have the following games is because of George Lucas canning them. All these titles were either in development or pre-development when they were canned.
1. Imperial Commando - Sequel to Republic Commando
2. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic III'
3. Star Wars Jedi Knight III: Brink of Darkness ( also another concept was made for the alternative SWJK: III Jedi Master )
4. Star Wars Smuggler ( You play as a Han Solo type character with a Wookie Companion )
5. Star Wars: Darth Maul
6. Star Wars MMO codenamed "Proteus"
7. Star Wars "First Assault"
8. Star Wars Episode VII: Shadows of the Sith ( was a working title but most likely the name of the new film unless they decide to change it )
IDK what is wrong with George Lucas but seriously who THE F*CK in their right mind would cancel KOTOR III or JEDI KNIGHT III
>George Lucas serious suggestions for naming Starkiller in The force unleashed were "Darth Iccky" and "Darth Insanious". He was dead serious when he said them, and leads me to believe he was making fun of the devellopers that they wanted to make their own Darth Character.
>>263724146 dude, in KOTOR fucking II, when revan is talked about, people say "she". and a character simply being female is not fucking "SJW", god this gamergate shit is so fucking annoying and it's ruining /v/, creating even more of a "us VS them" mentality
>A host of cancelled Star Wars games were revealed in the LucasArts tell-all book, Rogue Leaders: The Story of LucasArts. >While published in 2008, the logos for 20 canned Star Wars projects is just now coming to light (thanks, AllGamesBeta). Interestingly, even then there was a tie-in for the unannounced-at-the-time Episode 7, planned with the subtitle Shadows of the Sith. A third Jedi Knight was planned as well, subtitled Brink of Darkness, but sadly never went anywhere. >The logos run the gamut from slick to silly. I'm particular fond of the golden era noirish logo for Star Wars: Scum and Villainy, while you just know that Star Wars: Dark Jedi would have been that series' Shadow of Hedgehog. >Curiously, Disney has recently registered 40 domains for a new Star Wars project that isn't on this list, entitled Star Wars: Attack Squadrons >Listed under LucasFilm, these consist of StarWarsAttackSquadrons.com, SwAttackSquadrons.net, and SwAttackSquadrons.org. We don't know if Star Wars: Attack Squadrons is even a game, as it could very well be a show, movie, theme park ride, or breakfast cereal, but suspiciously EA has owned the domain to the similarly titled Attack Squadron since 2000. It won't expire until March either. >Being that Disney has licensed its Star Wars titles to EA, it seems likely that this project is a game. Both BioWare (Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect) and Visceral (Dead Space, Dante's Inferno) are developing mysterious new Star Wars games, so this could be one of them.
I just think it was unsuccessful. it was reacting to God of War rather than innovating and being itself, which canned games like Republic Commando (albeit, again unsuccessfully) and KOTOR (under Obsidian) attempted
