>>265543162 how about you list which ones you have tried and how long you gave it before passing judgement on it being bad? or are you basing your judgements on peoples opinions and general shitposting?
How come no one made a sandbox mmo so far? Just look at the succes of that shitty, early acces bullshit minecraft You could have a levelling system where instead of growing stronger, you get points to invest in crafting so you're able of build shit most people can't, specializing on working wood, stones, clothing and so on, then you'd auction your shit to afford the things you can't craft and build your stuff
>>265543587 >>265543684 Those are all relatively short experiences with in each game. probably only a few hours. Maybe try different classes? game play can often change a lot by choosing a different class
or it's just that mmo games aint for you? just like FPS games aint for me. i tried em and couldnt get into them. good mmo's do exist, but its all relative to the player.
Every since Abyssea the game hasn't been the same. Basically solo to 99 and do boring repetitive shit instead of the journey it was before. Every zone is a barren desolate wasteland, especially the starter zones. The economy is dead, etc. The only people still playing are the people who would literally kill themselves once the servers went offline. No fresh blood at all. It's stagnant and there's like 500 people per server now The storyline and missions are still good of course if you want to just play it as a single player RPG and solo everything (which can be done easily now) and the world is still cool and fun to explore but as an MMO it's dead
>>265544347 But that is true in a game designed to last years. ok. maybe not outright dislike the game untill 20 hours in, But mmo's have expanding stories, developing your character, gaining new armour.
>>265544347 You're hardly going to outright love the game in the starting zone.. >wooo i killed 2 boars with my level 1 spell... As you progress into the game, unlock skills and dungeons you will grow to like the game more as your character develops and you find a guild to play with.
That is what people mean when you have to give the game time.
>>265544674 Endgame for battle classes is raiding yes PvP is give or take completely disjointed from the rest of the game. Crafters have got their own endgame with their own mechanics and progression. Full-fledged classes that don't intrude on the battle territory at all. If you completely despise living you can always take up fishing as well.
Everyone also shits on MMO games because they forget one of the biggest things.. Friends.. they play it like a solo game. nothing beats getting a few mates on voice chat and having fucking laugh running instances, chilling and chatting crap all day.
>>265543162 Eve Online is good. But it takes a certain kind of person to enjoy it.
The problem is that modern MMOS eliminated what used to make them good: the social aspects.
Even WoW was more social back then, when you had to go around town and find some groups to do instances with before flying and riding there. Now with dungeon finder everything is some kind of "instant reward, no need for socializing" thing. That's the wrong direction.
I wish you could travel back in time and play SWG OP. Easily the best MMO ever.
>>265545446 Better after 50 hours. that does not imply you dont like it at all at the start... fuck people are so black and white at times... You start the game and think. this looks like it could become better once i get a guild, a few more skills and some dungeons to run with them.. >50 hours later You have a group of friends and 10-15 skills, and you have options to dungeon. pvp. chill out. and quest. >the game has gotten better!
Don't be fooled by people claiming that FFXIV is somehow better than the competition. It's beautiful, and it has a fantastic soundtrack, but the levelling content is generally dull and the endgame content is both incredibly repetitive and incredibly boring.
It's worth trying out, but I got to just up to the Binding Coil of Bahamut when Turn 4 (or maybe 5, I can't recall which one) was at the time unbeatable and dropped the game. Haven't touched it since.
>>265545716 Well, through the virtue of having no P2W and amazing production values it's automatically better than competition. The actual content's got ways to go but at least devs are putting some fucking effort so that the game doesn't fold in a month like literally every other new MMO.
>>265545728 no. not like every other game.. so many games, have matchmaking that doesn't require you to find friends. CoD. you click find game, you do not have to chat or talk to anyone. Racing games are the same.
>>265545716 FF14 is easily better than anything on the market, thats coming from someone who isn't play it at all right now. I maxed out my black mage and finished turn 5.
The only thing that makes the content boring is it requires a friend like every mmo. That aside the story is good or at the very least decent and worth following unlike most mmos and the class system is interesting.
The major flaws of the game are Zones are small and you constantly have to travel between them so you are constantly loading End Game is almost too easy to reach, and even then getting maxed out gear is just as easy The game is brought down by the fact they made it for consoles as well
Plus what compeition does it really have? ArcheAge? A p2w mmo WoW? A dying mmo that everyone has played and is trying to move on from Tera? A game that plays extremely differently and is also p2w Aion? A decent game but small community, and overall very generic Rift? A game that will be dead in a year or two
Plus they are getting the thief class for free and that will make me rebuy my sub
>>265545936 I liked the combat more than every other MMO, its a shame I don't see more of it or anything close to it and I've tried Tera, C9, RaiderZ and Vindictus. But is it really an MMO where everything but town is an instance?
I've never played WoW or any other MMO for a long time.
Would it still be worth getting into now? Everyone says the glory days are gone, and I don't have any friends who play it, but I'd love to just be able to sink some ours into a long running progressive social experience.
>>265546667 It was very casualized for consoles, part of that arguement but yeah, the fact the upgrades are so stagnant isn't the best but its still acceptable at least since most other mmos have generic items as well
because modern MMOs dont understand that the greater community is the most important aspect. FF14's constant cross-server instancing discourages server community growth. even city of heroes could pull off a server community, and it was 100% instances. I just dont get how people can constantly fuck it up so hard
>>265547027 Hunts brought the community together for a patch. Screaming and kicking but fucking hell they did it. On a few servers there's massive public teamspeak efforts to get hunting marks down cooperatively in an efficient manner. That, despite how much of a cheap shot it was, was a good thing.
>>265543587 >few hours unfortunately, MMO's aren't games you can put a few hours into and really experience the game. They just aren't that type of game. I'd suggest putting more time into them or maybe understand that MMO's aren't your thing.
Oh god no, it's just meant to ease the pain of coming back at the beginning of a new expansion. The issue is people came back, possibly didn't have a character at level cap and then had to go level through old content before they could hit the new stuff with their friends.
Mind, 90 isn't the 'cap', 90 is just the cap for Mists of Pandaria (current expansion), it just lets you jump right into Draenor.
>>265544573 No, it was going to be absolute pile of shit. From alpha testers manual: >willpower is a sort of energy shield on your health bar >you gain perks by drinking blood of specific mortals >you can diablerize mortals and vampires alike >diablerized vampire loses part of perks >half of disciplines are nothing like their PnP or even Bloodlines counterpart
>>265547429 Well I really didn't play for long, 10 hours max TBH, I'd like to play through to level 90 with people if possible, but from what I've heard there's not gonna be a tonne of people like that.
>>265547316 If I were to ever make something like that, I'd make it for phones and make you live the MMO.
>Your net navi is custom to your personality and random generator >It develops your personality and likes by using your cookie data >You get chips by scanning bar codes or trading with people >You can battle online anywhere
The navi customization algorithm would be the hardest part.
