Let's try this again.
There was actually some stuff from the night before that I never got an answer to. For those that bought the art books, what's the Astro-Boy inspired manga like? No one ever talks about it. Anything interesting about it? Anything you were able to translate from it?
Also, did anyone else think of PMMM when Elh asked Red to form a contract with her?
Oh, and what do we know about the 7 Data Children outside of Red, Nero, and Blanck?
Certainly. Supposedly the next game will be aimed at an older audience, so hopefully that means it won't be so easy next time around.
The art style is probably the reason many people ignored it besides its weird name of course.
Which is odd to think about, since of all games it holds the record for having the most commercials for it.
Yep. CC2 has said as much.
They're going so far as to making Strelka Stories despite not getting any funding for it from any major publisher. Its their own personal love work. And while the next game might not even be Strelka Stories, nonetheless they did say they were working on something in this series. Repeatedly, in fact.
Supposedly though Strelka Stories is being aimed at an older audience, and that fans of shows like Evangelion and Gurren Lagann are sure to like it.
Its about this dog person (called Caninu in game) mecha pilot named Red Savarin who works as a Hunter, which is sort of a person who does odd jobs for people. One job required him to go onto an airship called The Hindenburg and "borrow" some documents for a client, and during this he uncovers a strange medallion that glows when he touches it and attracts monsters to the ship. The ship gets badly damaged during all of this and Red manages to escape, but not before rescuing a mysterious cat girl (called Felineko in game) named Elh Melizee on his way out. After his escape Elh tells him that the world is dangerous and that the medallion chose him, and she asks him to help her perform some ritual called the Rite of Forfeit in order to stop a great gigantic beast from causing ruin to the world. Red agrees and they go off on their adventure.
And as it goes on it gets a whole lot more complicated and crazy.
Didn't they hint that Gren was in love with Opera or something in it?
Too bad Steam removed the furry tag.
Why Unity though?
I get wanting it on Steam and all that, but the way the game was made it might be difficult to do all that for. Why not just put it on 3DS eshop or Wii U eshop?
It lets you customize your mecha in a similar way to Megaman Legends. Walking around dungeons and cities and such is also vaguely similar.
I thought he had a crush on her, but he doesn't really get much screen time so I might be wrong.
>Make a Game with disgaea tier boredom and grindan.
>add furfags lowering your potential audience even more.
>Furfags cant understand why there game bombs and uses MUH WORLD BUILDING as the only valid excuse when other games do it better
>Most of them just view the artbooks online and pirate the game anyway
>Cyberconnect stuck making narutos 4ever because furrys keep convincing them to appeal to them.
This is how the vidya dies.
You're level 14 by the time you beat Solatorobo.
>other games do it better
Only thing I can think of is maybe Final Fantasy XII
>view the artbooks online
>implying there are that many pics online
>CC2 stuck making Narutos
To be fair they try to do .hack// and want it to get localized but it never does.
>having the most commercials for it
Which barely showed off relevant gameplay or what the game was even about.
I mean, I played Solatorobo
still gotta finish it one of these daysand all the mindfuckery and twists were amazing. But you just can't convey that with a 30-60 second TV spot.
Heck, most of them were only about 15 seconds long. And you're right, they just couldn't and didn't show much of the actual game itself.
>didn't finish it
Get on that right now. Its not a long game, and if you've already played a lot of it it shouldn't be long at all.
I fucked up.
To be fair its not relevant to the story. Just a surprise.
Was Link really that bad? What about the manga for Link?
I tried to get a friend into .hack// by watching Sign with him and he got bored as fuck and hated it. Since I can't get a hold of the games, I wanted him to try Quantum, but now he won't bother with it thinking that .hack// is boring.
Quantum was exciting though. A bit rushed, but damn was it a beautiful piece of work.
they emulate really well even on mediocre machines, so that's always an option unless you can get lucky on ebay
Not in the slightest. SAO was a piece of shit.
The 2nd half was okay though. Just okay. It had its problems.
I figure I'll just get them all on Amazon. Already have GU volume 3. The first 4 games all seem to be fairly cheap.
I guess I hate your opinions a little less. Elk is best boy.
>Just a surprise
It blew my fucking mind I was so confused.
Also I think I got up to 'Chapter 2'(?) before I stopped, when the humans started showing up. Mind you I was trying to do everything in the game so I was taking my sweet time.
I'm not sure whether I should keep the experience I've already had or finish it, I hear the ending is lackluster.
The ending was beautiful, albeit a bit of an asspull. Its worth it for the post game content anyways.
I'll admit the
gender revealconfused me also. Mostly because by appearance I thought she was a girl, and then they used the term "he" before finally revealing her gender
>anything other than the inferior wavemaster that CC2 really, really wanted you to like despite the fact they didn't give him any email conversations and almost never had him be available to be in the party
is that aromatic grass?
Fukken loved this game. Sure it was kinda simple and easy, but i'm playing difficult games all day! I hate to use this term but i'd have to call it "comfy".
Maybe its cause I played it one summer out under a tree on my property.
It's not so much she outright looks like one, it's that she speaks like one in Japanese, which is impossible to convey in English since we don't have masculine or feminine words. At least on the level of other languages, anyway.
Well if you look most of the females are pretty endowed, while elh is totally flat in that regard. She totally looks girly though.
I liked all the sidequests. The recurring characters in them being expanded upon made em feel worth it.
Would you rather hug Waffle, Red or Mamoru?
Mamoru. He's the most adorable.
Although...fanart of Red...
I always thought the mecha designs were really strange, what with the pilot all out in the open riding it.
Does nobody have guns to just shoot them off of em?
Do they explain personal weaponry, guns etc? I mean with the level of lore in this im sure one of you know.
Guns exist in universe.
As for explaining weapons, to a degree they do although I don't know the fine details. I believe most of that is in the artbooks. I have the first one but I can't read nip.
When I first heard of this game, it reminded me of pic related which while a little joke, kinda had a similar look to it.
do the guns in that pic even fire projectiles?
I mean Reds sword thing is more of a stun gun.
Yeah? I got an i5 at like 4.4 ghz though. Even too unoptimized for that ya think?
In that picture? Probably not. I know there are working functioning guns in it though. Characters in game use things sort of like them and official artwork often shows very normal looking guns.
>Yeah? I got an i5 at like 4.4 ghz though. Even too unoptimized for that ya think?
Try it and find out. I'm genuinely curious since I'm about to get an i5 (Still running a Core 2 Duo from 2008).
All I know is that it was published on some digest(?) book for the L-Gaim animu(if ya know what that is). Whoever made this story was way ahead of their time that's for sure.
Fuuck why couldnt this be a console game so I could have explored these places more in depth.
Such cool location design god damn!
Yeah. Who knew such a little gag story would actually predict the future. Had it actually been a thing, it would've stood out from the other things released at that time.
Oh, and before I forget.
>For those that bought the art books, what's the Astro-Boy inspired manga like?
It's, well, a manga. It's just a one-off kind of thing based off that character you see a poster of in the orphanage. I imagine it's kind of like a meta thing that would exist in the universe. Other than that it has nothing to do with Solatorobo or Tail Concerto. It'd be like if they made a Silver Samurai manga for Phoenix Wright.
I don't know moon so I have no idea what they're saying.
Theres so much god damn stuff they write and draw for this universe. And yet it's just a measly DS game!
Its kinda depressing really. Why do they do this? The devs just love it or something?
>The devs just love it or something
It doesn't make them very much money. Its not popular. Multiple attempts at pushing it have failed. And yet they keep going. They work on projects without publisher funding for it. They release artbooks for the small dedicated groups of fans and even sometimes translate parts into English for people. They made a Kemono Fanpage Facebook page for anything kemono they put out. They begged Bandai for funding for Solatorobo, even when repeatedly shot down.
They LOVE LTB.
Also those books they've published regarding the kemono fandom. Maybe they should do a special entry where they hire some veteran jap artists who're interested at doing some artworks showing their own interpretations.
Kind of a tragedy to have it just be an easy DS game.
This needs a kickstarter so bad! Id back them in a heartbeat, and im sure im not the only one.
They spent a long ass time on it from what ive read. I feel kinda bad for them...
I didn't buy it either, my greatest regret
I think they actually did that already. A lot of the artwork in the Kemono books are from random Japanese artists outside of CC2, and some of that artwork is of Solatorobo stuff. Sort of like the 8 Solatorobo fanbooks. They've also even asked (and are currently asking for) artists to make kemono art for them to put in a special section of their book.
I wouldn't say its impossible, especially since XSeed looks into doing that when going to developers, although this is a Japanese company we're talking about here. Japan has never been big on the PC.
Strelka Stories is self-funded and completely seperate from Namco Bandai -- Matsuyama stated that he wants this game to be completely free of any publisher so they can do what they truly wish to do with the game. The only thing preventing its development is lack of funds, being a small developer.
Kickstarter disallows anybody from Japan starting a project and CC2 does not have an American division (Mighty No. 9 is not an exception; Comcept has a US division which may very well have been made simply so they could use it as a loophole)
>Kickstarter disallows anybody from Japan starting a project
Well that sucks. Does Kikestarter do this to any other country outside the US and some parts of Europe as well.
Dang ya think they would even consider this? I dunno how well these sorts of petitions work.
Think I should sign it?
Now this one im not sure of. Wouldnt they have to redo all the prerendered backdrops to make them look acceptable on pc?
>games like this people have most likely never even heard of
>games like destiny break 500 million dollars on the first fucking day
But then you'd miss the eventual sequel 50 years from now.
>Now this one im not sure of. Wouldnt they have to redo all the prerendered backdrops to make them look acceptable on pc?
Not that a PC version will ever, ever get made, but no. All of the backgrounds were massively downscaled to be put on the DS and judging by the fact that all of the backgrounds are present in the artbooks, it can be safely assumed that CC2 has the master files in their archives. Backgrounds would probably be the easiest thing to fix.
Again, wishful thinking, but still.
Oh, never heard this before. If it's a new IP similar in vein to LTB(which it probably isn't but hey, a guy can dream) they could get a new artist on board to do character designs just like Nob did for that series.
Preferably I would probably choose Yas(since he's capable of designing characters like that as pic related shows) but hey, more power to them.
I honestly always thought that those were two different images rather than one just being a heavily compressed version of the other. I mean I know the one on the right WAS changed but I always figured that the thing on the left was just the drawn image for what it would look like and the right is what was actually designed to be in the game. I had no idea it was just compressed.
>Kickstarter disallows anybody from Japan starting a project
I want to say yes.
But that's really only if I had known it was so good. I bought it on a whim after being linked its opening cutscenes on a furry website. I thought it looked kind of cool and decided to go for it, despite my fears about the gameplay.
If it weren't furry, I likely never would've bat an eye at it. And that makes me sad anon.
You want to be here when it happens
Oh of course, huh. Damnit this couldnt be a difficult port to do! I mean even if it was unoptimized our pc have the raw muscle to take care of it!
Well it was certainly a draw for me. However I do love the mechs, and the "floating islands and airships" theme is one of my favorites.
Id say I would have considered it, but I wouldnt have fallen in love with it if it werent for the adorable character designs.
Oh hey, did you end up trying the game out? Whatd ya think?
Assuming it didnt have ugly characters otherwise, I would.
The cuteness/coolness of the characters I really like, and if they were just anime humans that looked as nice I would have liked it too!
Whats this even play like? The art style is so atrocious and obviously made for yiffers that it completely turns me off to the game, no matter how good it may be. Furry art seriously is horrible.
I'm going to guess its a SRPG or some type of RPG?
I'm just curious to see what it plays like or if its a clone of anything but with a shit art style.
This anon gets it, thanks. Not all people who hate something are shitposters. I'll be exiting the thread now.
Its an ARPG where the combat involves lifting enemies and objects up and throwing them or catching and throwing projectiles. Its really simple. A lot of the game is just dialogue between characters or traveling and seeing the world while pretty music plays and you perform sidequests.
>character designs done by same guy who did Escaflowne
Because he's fucked in the head and hides the fact behind a mask of tolerance and political correctness.
Also because he has readers, and is probably a closet furry.
You grab enemies, and then throw them at other enemies. Or just bounce them on the ground till' they are dead.
You can also pick up some items the enemies drop (such as guns and bombs) to attack them, and there are some missions where you can/have to use a mounted machine gun.
You also unlock some special moves later in the game.
The gameplay is somewhat dull, and since you already said a bunch of times that you think the art style is shit, you should just move on to another game, since the best part of this game are the characters/story/art.
>I'm just curious to see what it plays like or if its a clone of anything
It plays mostly like tail concerto. Solatorobo is tail concerto's spiritual successor afterall.
Kemono is pretty much nip furfaggotry. So why bother calling it something else?
That isn't a real part in it is it? Surely that writing was edited.
Not really. That would mean that there are many differences in censorship practices and quality. Its much smaller and there are just some common stylistic differences.
I liked those with the exception of Red himself, which I thought looked ugly.
Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the mecha designs either, save for maybe Nero, Blanck's, and furry Vincent Valentine.
Yup. Elementary school kids being the youngest of the ones tested on.
That part was edited, but the comic itself is full of nonsense that rivals it.
I dunno, but they said that the next game will be aimed more at adults, so all is well.
I hope they make it more challenging and deeper.
Some on-foot combat would be great, I get tired of the constant clank-clank-clank!
have her robot
I was a tad disappointed that it was all mecha combat myself; I would love to see some swordfighting or laser sword (should it take place in the future) fighting or something with Red out of his robot. It would've been fun.
>all is well
Dont play with my heart anon!
Yeah he had a shock sword and everything!
The kurvas bots were all sweet I thought. This ones all wild west gunslinger lookin! Who rode this one again? Gren?
I think its >>266184441 , right?
or this one?
Speak of the devil. Thanks
And thanks for reminding me his name.
You got it right the first time.
The one you're posting now is Gren's I believe.
I wonder how /m/ feels about these designs.
I imagine /m/ would find the exposed pilot design to be laughable!
I think theyre really cool, but I also find the vulnerability of the rider pretty odd. Like I said earlier, it would be so easy for them to be shot out of it!
Who uses this thing? One of the
