You have 30 seconds to post a suit of armor that looks cooler than this.
>Protip: You can't.
I feel like this is you who msged me about my sick armor
if only you could just admit it
You just cant deny that based blizzard makes cooler armor than your favorite game developer can
enjoy your scrapey tin can sounds as you move
lamellar masterrace reporting
I still think that any Fallout Power armor are the coolest armor sets in video games. Same goes for the NCR Veteran Ranger armor and all the variations of it you can find in the DLC.
I wish we got that slab of iron as a sword.
WoW no longer has good looking armor, it's all over designed with gigantic shoulderpads. Have you seen the mage cloth armor from WoD? It is made of metal with shoulders as big as the rest of the armor.
There's hundreds of suits of armor that look better than that.
I really hope devs will get over their obsession with retarded flashy armors and start making realistic armors instead, but that that's very unlikely.
I think you're really gonna like this one.
But only 6 year olds play this game.... are you saying you arent a 6 year old? because if so, git out
Get the fuck out of my way, plebs. I'm on my way to the Holy Lands.
>there are people who actually think blizzard armor designs look good
>implying glorious Crusaders didn't fist the fuck out of mudslimes wearing this shit in 1096
>There is no game that will ever have armour as stylish as what the crusaders had
Truely these were the finest of men
In all seriousness, to me this shit right here looks pretty much the best armour ever.
There's a lot of great looking armours in MonHun too, like Barioth Z.
>Thread doesn't have the warrior of light
With fullplate you can use weapons that get more leverage by using both hands.
A shield is pretty wasted since the coverage points of the plate and shield tend to overlap.
What you'd best be using the shield for at that point is wedging it into your opponents armpit to prevent them from getting a proper swing at you.
Everything else can probably be solved by a an offhand utility weapon if you choose to carry one.
Depending on the material it may be more resistant than plate armor, which would make it more usefull against certain weapons but I'm not sure.
Gonna have to respectfully disagree with you, Alva set is best set.
POST MOAR CRUSADERS
When better armor came on the scene not only did the armor all by itself protect you from all the peasants weapons, but you required more powerful two handed weapons to deal with the other people in armor.
This is why you see shields fall out of use. Generally speaking the only time both good armor and shields were used together was the roman legions, and they were just steamrolling barbarians most of the time anyway.
So it would make most sense in video game if
Lighter armor classes = shield+one hander
Heavy armor classes = pole weapon
The only time you would see heavy armor + shields use is mounted knights carrying around a kite shield because why not lances are one handed anyway.
Nigga what, Elite Knight helm is really good looking. Fite me irl
This is what modern crusader gear looks like
Because they were able to, because they no longer needed to worry about defense as much because their armor would protect them from so much more than before.
Unarmored combat is about distance control, when you have armor you can just barge in and give no fucks
>thinking Crusaders didn't wear plate
Are you fucking retarded, cunt? Yeah, they wore chain, but gauntlets, breastplates, manifers on your arms and legs, elbow guards, full helms - ALL PLATE
They weren't suited up in full-plate, but they sure as fuck wore pieces of it.
Order of Saint Stephen of Hungary Grandmaster robe
>when you have armor you can just barge in and give no fucks
took me more than 30secs but...
Yes, but the suit is nice.
Alot of orders have this type of dress, this is the Order of the Iron Crown for Knight Third, Second and First class
I though it was one of the better helms in DaS2, then again the competition ranges from "ah cool" to "absolute shit" with very little middle ground.
however, i like the full ruin set even the helmate
Please educate yourself nigger
Early crusaders didn't wear breastplates nor elbow guards
It was more leather padding then chain.
And even more, most of the crusader forces were peasants.
>giant fat baby-faced executioner with a giant hammer
I wish I was this cool.
its true, and you are a retard friend for assuming you know what you are talking about, when you dont.
Reach means shit if you are unarmored fighting someone in armor. They are just gonna come and fuck up your shit.
Honestly this is some of the best armor I've ever seen in fiction
Honorable mention: Juggernaut armor from COD
Also, Picture related to OP's question
When armored your typical weapon that isn't a piercing weapon will only be able to get into exposed or weaker spots in the armor.
This allows you to close the gap with your opponent in a less risky fashion and when fighting someone equally in full plate you can take a sword and halfsword it to get more maneuverability to stab at weakspots while exposing yourself less at the cost of range.
When not armored you've got much larger surface area to strike, any slash or stab is potentially fatal and is less likely to glance off of anything and more likely to get you dead on.
The general rule is that when you're outranged you want to fight in your opponents guard, if you're at the same range you want to be a step away from striking and when you outrange you opponent you want him to be out of your guard.
Even if its just the helmet this shit is so fucking rad to me
>tfw sperg out every time someone isn't wearing a helmet with their full plate armour
I wish more devs actually went for realistic armour, because realistic armour still looks pretty damn cool.
MW2 special ops
>mfw the juggernaut theme starts playing
You sound like a fun and lively person, and I would LOVE to just hang out with you, and hear you spout your useless opinions.
But seriously, having fun is the only thing that really matters.
This guy is bretty gud too
I think of all the Halo gayms, Reach did armor the fucking best
GW1 warrior elite Sunspear > anything from GW2.
I did like the armor and customization options in REACH, but Emile is such an edgelord. "I'm going to scratch a skull onto my helmet, I'm so cool."
Commando helmet master race.
>imblying arab horse archers can shoot further than ten feet anyway
He definitely was created to appeal to the 13 year old audience.
Still, I thought he was pretty badass, esp. for constantly using shotguns
This guy is cool too tho
Shield were used because arrows destroyed mail
Plate can withstand arrows. Why the English eventually lost against the French. Well apart from Agincourt, but that was a whole different ball game
While the basic 40k marines do look pretty bland, Dawn of War 2 made power armour look fucking flash
>You will never be an explorer from Spain/Portugal/The Netherlands
>You will never enslave some Japs and then convince a local Daiymo to convert to based Christianity for guns
I liked Emile just because he was the last guy with you and willing to let you leave REACH while he stayed behind and covered you. But he was weaker than some of the other characters.
Really the worst thing about REACH's armor designs was how lazy they were with the Elites. You can see it here, the elite's jaw glitches through that helmet design on the red one.
I would have liked to post a Luna Wolves pattern, or maybe the Emperor's Children, but I couldn't find any decent images.
Why would I do that? The only reason they took Japanese woman as harem slaves instead of whites was because they'd have the King and Church breathing down their necks. Portugal's sailors had a 50 year run before the King banned slavery of Chinese and Japanese people because it was interfering with missionary work. Really, you only wife it up with foreigners if you can't find a nice, white peasant waifu
Senatus Populusque Romanus
The Lorica segmentata is proof that the Romans knew how to oppress in style
Like most of these are
Ryse may have been COD in Rome, but goddamn was this armor great
>what is rome:total war
>what is Eternal Darkness:Sanity's Requiem
you're pleb status, nigga.
Before the beginning of the siege, Mehmed II made an offer to Constantine XI. In exchange for the surrender of Constantinople, the emperor's life would be spared and he would continue to rule in Mistra; to which, as preserved by G. Sphrantzes, Constantine replied:
To surrender the city to you is beyond my authority or anyone else's who lives in it, for all of us, after taking the mutual decision, shall die out of free will without sparing our lives.
He led the defence of the city and took an active part in the fighting alongside his troops in the land walls. At the same time, he used his diplomatic skills to maintain the necessary unity between the Genoese, Venetian and the Greek troops.
He died on 29 May 1453, the day the city fell. His last recorded words were: "The city is fallen and I am still alive." Then he tore off his imperial ornaments so as to let nothing distinguish him from any other soldier and led his remaining soldiers into a last charge where he was killed.
There is a funny story when it comes to power armours.
The models you can see in first 2 games had to be redesigned when Van Buren came around, the explanation was in lines of - it looked nice in 2d with not-that-elaborate animations, but when we tried to make 3d model... nobodyou would be able to move in that armour, it has bolts and shit in the least practical places possible.
The funny thing is even Romans could make better performing and better looking armor than that despite having worse materials at hand.
Also they wouldn't let women in their infantry.
Not vidya but I always thought Berserker's armor looked fucking badass.
That's not very sportsman-like.
I always thought the Vaulters in Endless Legend looked pretty damn cool
There were more competent ones than retarded ones. It's just that the retarded ones fucked up everything for everyone, and the competent ones had to keep things together.
Mannuel I Kommenos, Alexios I, Heraclius and many others did a fine job and kept the Empire going despite having to work off the retarded mistakes of their predecesors.
But are your cities packed up in giant beetles?
In all honesty, it's a decent 4x game with some neat features, but I still prefer Endless Space
In other words clipping.
The power armors were mostly redesigned to fit with today's design stardards anyway.
Back in the 90's, the game industry was still quite amateur, and so were the designs like the power armors in FO1 and 2.
You'll notice the same thing with any concept art for games back in the 90's. It was mostly amateur artwork as well. Now when you look at it, it's on par with movie concept artists, extremely professional.
So when it came time for Fallout 3, an experienced and skilled concept artists redesigned the power armors and a lot of other things to a better design. Not only in terms of looks but in consistency as well.
Berserker armor is really meh
The black swordsman suit he had was fucking amazing 10/10 best armor though
Other than glass they weren't bad
Except the helmets. Good fucking god the helmets were terrible. I'm absolutely floored that they looked at that shit and went "yes, this is perfect", rather than doing the obvious solution of making full helmets.
While I I was disappointed that we couldn't customize our elites in reach, you have to admit that ultra and ranger were 10/10
Uh I never said there was.
Can you read?
2D armor is fine. The issue was amateur design with no knowledge of appealing shape design.
Armor is already 2D in the concept art.
It then gets translated to a 3D model.
Besides, you can make armor practical without sacrificing the cool factor.
That's exactly one of the challenges an artist faces. How far you can push the boundaries but still make it believable. The essence of fictional work.
And then in Halo 4 we couldn't have elites at all.
Who cares if it's the smurfs? This armour look swag as fuck
Giant fucking swords were an obscure nordic idea. Crusaders didn't stroll into Jerusalem yelling WHAT RINGS YOU GOT BITCH, they used mostly polearms, like every other actual army in the history of forever.
Makes sense, the last guy who wore it was Skull Knight.
The problem is I'm not really a fan of Guts looking like a knight and stuff, and the berserker armor seems sort of generic compared to his other armors
That's because 343 can't into halo.
The best thing Halo can hope for at this point is a quick death.
Well, we might get them back in Halo 5, maybe?
Though I don't even have an xbone...
I would kill for the concept Halo armor but Xbox probably couldn't handle all those weapons.
Clone Troopers are now my favorite thing in Star Wars. All that operator.
>CG clone wars
Get that shit out of here anon
>Neck snapping a robot
>Any hope of ever being good again
>Any hope for redemption for the series
Agreed, was never a fan of the obvious edgy faggot in the game, but the whole rest of it was fantastic.
CG Clone Wars made the Republic Commando games canon to Star Wars after everything else EU was null and void. And the animation improves dramatically in the later seasons. Don't hate on it too much.
>Neck snapping a robot
I mean, if he twisted it all the way around or something, I guess I could just pretend the head was really important to it and he severed connections or something, but weren't there robots in one of the movies that got their heads shot off and kept walking?
Anything 343 does isn't cannon no matter what they say. They even admitted in a video that a lot of the devs in 343 are just really big fans of the halo series which means that anything 343 makes is pretty much the same thing as anything you'd find on fanfiction.net.
The whole point of robots is that you can brutally murder them in any possible way without getting an R rating. Look at Samurai Jack and all of the "oil" gushing like it's a horror film.
>TFW elites got treated like second class citizens in reach, and were banned from neatly everything despite actually being out paced by spartans in pretty much everything
I just wanna be a dinosaur mang
Its suppose to look like a bald eagle because merica
I have to say, if a real life military ever decided to invest in some sort of heavy power-armor infantry type armo, Jin Roh seems like they most feasibly realisitic.
Fun fact: you can say that a design was made by Asians just by looking at it. They are so authentically shitty, it's not even funny.
Sexiest armor ever holy shit my dickkk
>Implying they even needed armor or shields
It was shameful to use that shit anon, just like how no one used guns back then because it was shameful, and just like how the Katana was folded over 9,000 times and is superior to the longsword. Shields and armor was for pussies anyway.
>yfw it turns out armor and shields were not just for pussies
It is true for both. The Japanese can't do shit right, they want everything to look decorative in warfare, they sacrifice functionality and practicality for "muh fear factor" and "muh culture". I still cringe when people say the Zero was one of the best fighters of World War 2, it literally went up into a smoking wreck if you hit it in the gas tank just once, which American pilots figured out pretty quickly.
Japan had fuck all for tanks, Samurai armor is a shit, and any armor in any JRPG looks edgy as fuck and was only crafted to look interesting instead of actually look like a human being could actually use it in real life.
