Do people really play these? It's probably the most weaboo thing you can do. You either speak Japanese, then you don't need the English text anyway. Or you only speak English, in which case you won't understand the Japanese dub anyway.
Watching anime dubbed is usually a worse experience than watching anime subbed. Unless you can't read, but then what the fuck are you doing with your life?
Japan has more skilled voice actors to work on the various animes, and since most animes have japanese sensibilities, the way they act fits better with the plot and the emotions of what's going on.
I can't tell you how many times I've started watching a dub, found that I despised the voices of characters, and then discovered that the original japanese voices fit much better and/or weren't unbearable.
Because, as much as I love reading, I sometimes like to be able to look away from the tv and still know what everyone's blathering about.
With a dub, I can look away to pack a bowl or check a text without missing IMPORTANT PLOT POINTS
Because the murrican voice acting industry is unprofessional and "for kids", just like cartoons in general.
In Japan, voice acting is as prestigious as live action and the quality standards are much higher.
Playing undubs means you likely get better acting, proper lipsync and in the case of Persona(the most commonly played undubs), no terrible Japanese honorifics in English language.
I get top marks in everything I do, bruv. No need to get jealous.
Also, watch Deadman Wonderland dubbed and then subbed. Pay attention to the main character. Then you will be enlightened
Not him but I used to occasionally give dubs a shot because once in a blue moon they're actually good. Not having to read subtitles gives you more time to appreciate the art. These days I understand a good 50% of anime without subtitles so it doesn't really matter to me since I only have to glance at them. While I don't really play them, undubs would be perfect for me because I understand a lot of Japanese, but not weird archaic shit that appears in video games.
If you're not going to give a movie or anime you full undivided attention then why are you even watching it?
Fucking teenagers these days and their short as fuck attention spans.
Thanks to the subtitles and context clues, I can tell HOW the shit should be said. I can't tell what they're actually saying, but the japanese VAs usually do a much better job than american VAs when it comes to hitting the right tone for what's going on, because anger and joy sound the same in any language
Because unless there is action there's no point in watching it. If two characters are just talking I can listen while doing something else. Especially in anime, where it's a static fucking picture with somebody's mouth moving.
Undubbers are cancer.
Bitch please. I don't get up to whack it in the bathroom and leave my anime running. But sometimes things happen around you that you need to respond to, and you don't feel like pausing every time it does. I mean, shit, look away from a sub for like 10 seconds and you've missed several lines of dialogue. Those niggas could have said anything, and all you heard was MANRY GIBBERISH.
There's literally nothing wrong with being a weeb. Japan has the best culture, the best video games, the best everything. You're showing your superior intellect by flaunting your weeabooism because you're intelligent enough to realize that whatever fucking country you're from is truly inferior the superior 日本.
>oh shit a line without subtitles
>I can understand it anyway because jrpg dialogue is the same shit over and over
if you've played more than 3 games in original audio and can't even understand basic shit like "the enemy is weak to fire" you probably have a learning disability.
Do you see this?
This is a beautiful, pure, perfect Japanese female. It is only fitting that she be voiced by the beautiful voice of a Japanese seiyuu.
It disgusts me that people here on /v/ think it's acceptable for some dumb, old, Western bitch with a god awful American accent to voice an angel like Yukiko.
The only animes worth anything dubbed are Cromartie High School, Cowboy BeepBoop, DBZ, Space Dandy, and Yu Yu Hakusho, if only for Kuwabara. Even then they're all worth watching in Japanese as well.
>Japan has more skilled voice actors
Hardest I laughed all day. Bonus points for when they are using Engrish.
I've always found that gag dubs are pretty good. The fact that its all just jokes and all of the voice actors are just enjoying themselves makes the dialogue more natural.
It doesn't make sense how many dubs are super wooden and un-emotive
