Dream game thread?
>Game takes place on a deserted island with ruins both modern and ancient.
>Gameplay consists of exploring said island and hunting/foraging to survive along with building a secure home base.
>Long night and day cycles, weather, seasons and general leaning towards realism.
>Natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, and blizzards happen rarely and will fuck you up if you aren't ready.
You also play as a cat.
Doing something in a game and doing it in real life are two different things.
Fair enough, it clearly wouldn't be for everyone. It's still my dream game though. What kind of game would you want to be made for you that probably won't for whatever reason?
That's what the thread is about, not my idea, everyone else's.
>opening scene: you're some military dude
>got captured by the enemy
>game starts, you have to escape from the compound
>can do this in a number of ways
>depending on how well you do, you could escape with some other people and some good items, or nothing
>the rest of the game is running, surviving, and escaping the captors who are looking for you
depth would be a huge factor in the development of this game
>Game begins during prehistoric era
>No farming, only hunting, and subsistence gathering for survival, no permanent settlement
>You lead your people into the next era
>The group develops farming, learns how to shape clay for pottery domesticates animals
>Every Age you play as a new person(s) leading your tribe into the next era
>you can war with neighbors or be friendly, try to spread your culture or tech.
I can only really see this being done in an idler style game, and its already kinda out, Settlement is kind of like this, but way to basic.
i like it
Make it so that your destination is different on every playthrough. Different war theaters like the frozen winter of stalingrad/germany, afghanistan war desert, japanese islands.
Zeno Clash art style with DMC/Bayonetta gameplay
Along with bosses that are BigHuge, like city huge
Basically Skies of Arcadia meets Rune Factory.
>have a base on a flying island
>customize base to your liking
>also have personal home you can furnish a la Animal Crossing
>open shops, trading posts, all kinds of businesses to increase revenue
>Also have farmland on island to grow your own produce and other crafts
>also have airship that you can customize endlessly, recruit tons of crew members who can also serve as merchants/business owners on your island
>get into battles with asshole pirates trying to fuck with your livelihood. Also hand to hand combat.
>also go on expeditions, chart new skies, explore other islands to meet people, establish trade routes and harvest resources.
If you could somehow throw Pokemon into it, I would quit my job and play this game until I died of starvation.
>setting like Jade Empire
>sleeping dog combat, with different fighting styles
Basically I just want a game like those old style kung-fu movies. Just go on an awesome adventure kicking every ones ass along the way with a decent fighting system that isn't annoying and flows nicely.
You are the mayor of a town built on giant tank treads that must scour the wasteland for resources and supplies to grow. Gameplay consists partially of city-management and building (built upwards and outwards in districts and large buildings) and partially RTS-like combat between these roving cities when they meet. Damage is real - squads invade eachother's streets trying to secure ground while artillery rains down, pummeling districts that you've so painstakingly scraped together from the barren lands you've traversed. Failure means destruction, success means an entire city of scrap to make yours even stronger.
Monster Hunter/ Dragon's Dogma style combat and movement in a world the size and style of SotC. Either Journey-like multiplayer where coming across another player is random and communication is limited, or MonHun multiplayer where you play with friends, but there is more to the gameplay than just hunting monsters, such as going to where the beast lives by traversing huge ruins or retrieving rare plants/solving puzzles/etc. Have the world populated by less smaller creatures than DD, but not as sparse with large monsters as SotC. Have a sensible ecosystem.
And I want it on PC
>You're a regular guy going through his day at work in some large building/complex
>A disastrous scenario occurs (terrorist attack/hostage scenario?), causing the need for you to escape
>You can take different paths and make choices to save your fellow coworkers
>No guns, just quick-weapons like a chair, fire extinguisher, or briefcase used to break down doors, obstacles
>You don't have a set goal; you can leave everyone behind or try to save them. It's your choice.
So basically Half Life minus becoming the next Jesus
If anyone knows what video on youtube this gif came from I'd appreciate a link immensely. I need to make a webm.
fuck tanks, we live on dragons bitch
Not necessarily, but for a game with multiple endings and satire, I would expect at least one path to have that, yeah. Even if it made fun of what modern fps-es are all about.
Also, the game I would love to see is simply not that. It's quite different.
It's a space colonization game. Can choose starting point (beginning of space race on earth <-> super advanced civilization that has met and established treaties with alien species), can build planetside bases, can build space ships, can explore planets, can rpg as someone, can wage wars etc.
Basically Civilization + Homeworld + Mass Effect with proper stitching and additional aspects
Open world game set in the world of Trigun. You don't play as Vash but the insanely hard to master shooting system makes it possible to shoot weapons out of enemies' hands and gives you non-lethal ways of getting out of encounters.
If you have to resort to violence, proper aiming and joint shooting can even disable people without killing them.
>GTA style game starring Pee-Wee Herman
>you get to use his bike
>Playhouse would be the "home base", get more furniture, characters etc as the game goes on
>Near the end it's revealed that
it's all a mental construct of Paul Reubens after his career got murdered by his favorite hobby
>remind me of log horizon
>check on it
>new episodes are finally up
When I think of it, I always imagine something akin to Dark Souls, but I think you could do very well with a more artistic, perhaps low-poly design.
The city is sort-of a "ship," where your character can pop in-and-out of controlling where it moves and being in the actual city. So after the battle is done, start laying out projects in the city and assign workers to the appropriate tasks. Hell, why not even take a stroll down your streets a few days later to see how they are progressing?
you get a character with certain parameters for muscle power, speed, weight etc
you are put in certain situations that require you to animate the character, move it in certain ways to pass the level and complete objectives
it plays in slow motion. you play the next X time movement and the level might react different than you expect. you can rewind time but that lowers the grade
run on top of the crowd to reach the prime minister and assassinate him.
free run in a complex environment
leave unharmed from a car/bus accident
get a gold medal for ground gymnastics
when you beat enough levels on good enough grade, you unlock battle mode.
in battle mode you have free character creation with limited points where you can experiment and save your favorites.
with your characters you challenge game enemies which are unique and require different strategies to beat.
it will include superb engine which will allow you to deflect swords realistically at the exact angle you want, block by putting all your weight against the hit etc
>You are Tiberian Fiend
>You live at the tiberium fields and guard your domain, you have a pack of your kind living with you
>there are no people around, ruins of a city nearby are empty,
>you like to look at Ion Storms from your hive under the cliff
An RTS where you are in the command center of either of central base or flagship, and throughout the command center are multiple terminals from which you can direct units, manage resources, etc. But you can also have a handful of underlings that can manage certain areas while you're managing something else, and depending on your style of play these underlings will direct your army based on your orders.
A game with the extreme gore of Terraformars anime
Something that takes the politics of something like CK2 and throws in the battles and better province/troop management from a Total War game. Maybe for added dream gameness have it so you can take control of any soldier on the battlefield.
>medieval fantasy mmorpg
>no mana or health for character, only stamina and status effects (die from bleeding, piercing of the heart, burning etc)
>first person skill based gameplay and a low progression curve. no autoattacking, think Chivalry for melee combat.
>noncombat roles are available and fun. spies, thieves, merchants.
>many mechanics involve preparation. alchemy, traps, most magic will require reagents. think monster hunter and the witcher
>permadeath. your character dies in game, hes dead for life and you have to start over. your progress with this character will give you bonuses for your new character so that dying isn't totally soul crushing
>lots of different races, factions, and backgrounds you can start with
>huge world to explore, will need supercomputer servers for real economies and true radiant ai. player can be involved in everything, business, politics, many social interactions
i could go on. i have a true vision for a $1B hardcore mmorpg project that probably not that many people would play.
>tfw your dream games are not financially feasible
My dream game is pretty simple and don't see why it hasn't been done.
>Take a high fantasy RPG such as Skyrim, Morrowwind, Dargon Age, Witcher etc
>put it in a modern setting with RDR/GTAV gameplay.
>mages against snipers and the like
>Expansion pack set in Vietnam
>sequel goes old west
You have to acquire bribes, beat bydlo and liberate oppressed russian speakers.
10/10 would play
A game where you basically roleplay as a person in society. Obviously the criminal element is a apart of it, and you work together with other players to kill other groups and steal their drugs.
Like a Free for all DayZ in modern society.
>set on space colony
>cyberpunk/retro art style
>effort put into the story and characters
>in terms of 'feel', a mixture of Larklight and Mortal Engines, which hopefully means something to you if you read the occasional book during your childhood
>best way I can describe it in terms of vidya is as a mixture of Metro and BioShock
Not sure if /v/ has calmed down enough from Infinite for the last point to be socially acceptable. Guess I'm about to find out.
>working your way up from lowly trooper to SOBR operator
why isn't there a single fucking game with a cop career anyway?
All I can think of is one of those German showelware simulators
An FPSRPG where some of the enemies are other players and you get rewards in the competitive multiplayer and the singleplayer for fucking over other players as an NPC.
Basically the Dark Souls invasion system where you can implant yourself as a random mook soldier and attack the player, but you are weak as shit.
my nigga. Basically this, only some differences:
You can chose race. Lizardman, orc like, dwarf, ect.
Heavy focus on exploring alone (Meeting with other players are rare, even if you do so, max three people can play multi in one 'game world')
Also a bit more grim tone than monster hunter or dogma. What I mean is, that the design should focus more on SotC out of the three.
I would buy 10 copies.
Ya know, I had an idea for a universe where one of the factions were the River Walkers. Basically, they were nomads who rejected the Gods and lived on the backs/shoulders of enormous stone giants that wandered through the gigantic river system of the continent. Walking cities that were frequently attacked by monsters, angry bird people and all that shit.
Actually, it was a super developed universe with a shitload of different factions, people, a full creation myth and lore and everything. I should do something with it one of these days.
A Stargate SG1 game where it plays like X-Com. You have to manage resources, keep filthy normies from learning about the stargate, find new technologies to become more effective. Dispatch SG teams to counter enemy movements throughout the galaxy. You get the idea.
>Have a sensible ecosystem.
This is literally all I've ever wanted from any game at all. I just want some biodiversity in my games, is that so much to ask? Even Spore dropped the ball on that one.
Pro players would just fight their way through everyone and outskill the AI. If you implement nonsensical restrictions on ammo or weapons to prevent this then you are a dirty hack.
>mfw I looked it up and Amerifats actually renamed Mortal Engines "Hungry Cities"
Dragons Dogma + MGQ
Complete with full length game over cut scenes
have posted this before
>first person survival horror game set in the Jurassic park universe
>you're in a plane which crash lands just off the shore, you get washed up on the beach
>in single player there are no survivors, but if you are connected online then up to 5 other player will be phased into your game world where you can either work together or against each other
>choose from a handful of classes such as paleontologist, botonist, security guard, lawyer etc
>each class has small perks which have a big impact on initial gameplay/survivability
>no regen health, have to use health packs sparingly and spend time recovering from injuries
>can make a base in any of the old abandoned vehicles/buildings but it takes time to make them safe and from there you can save your game
>day and night cycles which are long and as closely realistic as possible
>have to eat and drink clean water to survive at semi regular intervals
>can forage from local fauna to make food and basic medicine
>can get to the stage where you can fight smaller predators after acquiring/building weapons but most threats you must avoid through running, hiding or building traps
>main story is finding a way off the island whilst uncovering the events that happened there
There would be some other game modes too, like team vs, capture the flag etc. Also there would be an almanac journal type thing that you would fill up by discovering different plant and animal species, which would unlock some cosmetic bonuses such as costumes of memorable characters from the films. Also I though it'd be good if each time you completed a journal entry then youd get an interesting factoid about that species which would be read in the voice of John Hammond, but now he's died it'd have to be Dr Grant or Sattler.
There is an acclaimed cop mod for GTA 4 on PC that has you arresting people, messing with lightbars, searching vehicles, making cofee at police stations, writing tickets (parking AND moving violations) and killing scum.
I'd imagine this will be expanded to GTA5 once it's released on PC.
>Large city area including enterable buildings, with sewers, subways, parks, and outskirts included.
>Multiplayer only, ~50 people to a world, each person has a task randomly assigned to complete in a day. Also has NPC's wandering about
>3 people are start as a "The Thing" like creature
>6 people start as an elite. end game special task force that spend the game preparing until and get sent in when a certain percentage of the people have been converted by the monsters.
>Dynamic weather and realistic vehicles
>Also includes needs such as food and hygiene, easier to deal with at the beginning but escalates in difficulty as more people begin hunting the regular humans.
>Basically MORBUS but better
is this too much to ask for
My dick wouldn't survive if this game would have been made.
Ok i came up with this one:
>imagine a War Simulator in a giant open world on only one server (kinda like EVE Online but now time)
>people build fractions and hire more and more people
>there fractions fight for world dominance
>everything from Bases, structures and politics are player controlled and made
>it would be something between Arma, Civilization and a Openworld SandboxMMO
This game would be my life..
>save points are scarce
>havent saved in hours
>run into Monster girl that makes dick diamonds
>battle with your desire to give up and lose hours of progress
Cry as you jerk off and remember all the shit you have to do over again.
An RTS/FPS combining elements of Arma 2/3 and the Wargame series (Arma has a command module but it's kind of simplistic shit - there used to be a sucessful command module for OFP and Arma 1 known as the Chain of Command that was generally better)
>be Grunt/Squad leader/platoon leader on the ground commanding your infantry/tanks/aircraft/arty in first/3rd person
>Be a company commander and get the oppurtunity to jump in and out of FPS/TPS and a RTS style view a la Wargame (from your command vehicle/PDA) to position/control your units.
As a higher level officer you play a wargame style meta from a dedicated command vehicle/base/command tent/FOB/command aircraft (think AWACS) - controlling units, giving field commanders directions and occasionally micro managing individual units ,sending enemy intel to field commanders, etc.
You can jump to first person view to walk around your base, grab coffee, hit the PX or chow hall, or inspect your rear echelon units, also getting overrun will force you to fight/retreat/or surrender
Edgy, immature faggot alert
I think a stealth/horror game where you play a slasher movie villain or a serial killer would be fun. Planning, preparing, carrying out and covering up your crimes. Maybe a notoriety system of some sort, depending on how terrifying you are, if you leave survivors and whatnot. It could be tongue in cheek (like a slasher flick) or played straight (like Psycho or Maniac), either one would be fun. Lots of homages to horror movies and a sp00ky atmosphere.
Yeah, I know, I have the interests of a 14 year old tryhard, but sue me it's only tastez.
>Survival Horror game
>little to no jump scares
>reporter interested in this giant abandoned city no one goes into
>stranded in a giant abandoned city
>have to find sources of water/food to keep up health
>crazy people live there; some are staged, some are random encounters
>at dark gets hard to see, need to use flashlight/matches/etc.
Basically a giant puzzle/survival horror game in a giant city. The closer you get to the edge of the city, the more crazy people there are so it gets more difficult to escape. Also there are some that stalk you.
>Some 20 year old is a super hacker
>Gets kidnapped by some organisation
>All his equipment is smashed except for a flashdrive that has a sentient virus program
>You play as the virus trying to find its creator by going through parts of the internet, streetlights, bluetooth devices, broadcast waves, and almost anything that uses electricity
>You also fight trojans, spyware viruses, adware viruses, key-logger viruses, and nano spiders
>The virus also has a companion that's a pixel that can edit things so you can access certain places or figure out puzzles.
>Platform/hack and slash/puzzle
This seems like a good idea but only if its done right.
>You are a broke guy who likes burger
>Game is centered around stealing burgers from a fast food place
>Game has stealth elements and a health bar
>You win when your character dies from cardiac arrest or you have eated all the burger
>similar gameplay to Assassin's Creed Unity
>art style of Deus Ex: Human Revolution
>takes place on a ship the size of Rhode Island on a journey to Proxima Centauri
>game begins as we exit the solar system
>game ends once we reach the next one
>entire spaceship explorable
>different gang factions (player made) can control areas
>$15 a month
>multiplatform (PC, Xbone, PS4)
>tacticool first person shooter
>set in a modern abandoned city, not post-apocalyptic, just abandoned like everyone vanished
>lots of exploration
>the twist is you go around to different locations and fight unique supernatural bosses, think MGS
>these boss battles could take place in an entire mall or school
>it's sort of like SotC in that it's free-roam with a series of boss battles
Kind of, yeah.
Every free to play MMO eventually becomes a complete piece of shit.
The only MMO I play anymore is EVE Online, and the only reason that the game hasn't become /complete/ garbage is that there is a wall to entry.
An open world game in which you play as a serial killer. There are only a limited amount of npcs and all of them are named and have unique daily routines. You can fuck with the investigation by getting hired for the force or prepare your murders very carefully. No story. Focus is on the options to kill people and the world which has a lot of details and is going on the background. You have only a limited amount of days (in real time, but you can let time skip so that you can do things at night or whatever)until the game is over(let's say a year). You can restart and try to change up your style.
Yes, why not make a life simulator from 2000 bc onwards instead? You can pick a no-name person or any historcial figure from the past and play as him. Your ideas or expectations are as realistic as my post, you fucking idiot
I dont dream anymore, save for a couple of times every year or at least i have no memory of having them.
I had this little idea in my head for a long time. I thought that could make it into a book, but it could be game too.
>You play as immortal guy with supernatural powers.
>It is year something like 3000. You sit in your home with your wife and children and children want you to tell them some fairytales.
>The stories you tell are things you actualy did, since you lived for like thousands of years.
>Gameplay is different with each story. Stealth gameplay were hunting animals in the stoneage, RTS when you were general in the ancient rome, adventure when you were with the inquisition and so on.
There are much more things I have planed, but you get the idea
The thing I am afraid of is the huge potential for DLCs.
Shitty game. You have to be more creative and less restrictive. It should be a game where you enter a couple of words and it does that for you.
>harry potter mmo
bam you have it
kablam done. Your dream game is way too simple and has been probably been done on an atari 2600
>playground missile launching robots battle
>cool moves based on your limbs and chip
>power, oil, ammo, steam, etc. to manage, upgrade, burst
>getting parts of the losers' personal limb stash
>co-op battles against bot swarms to get limbs
Ye. I know that my idea would be nearly impossible to do correctly. There are some games like that and they ended up being half assed pieces of dissapointment. Still, I think it is possible to do
With gorilion dollar budget, thousand people and decade of development maybe.
Write your book and hope that quantum computers will be invented because of your novel. After that the will probably make a game out of it which is pre-installed on ever quantum computer
