>>267753290 >Are you even considering the pain I'm going through
Oh, fuck you. That shit tortures me sometimes. I don't even play that game, but sometimes I fuck up on purpose when my character in a game pisses me off so they see the pain they cause themselves and stop ignoring my inputs at crucial moments.
>>267754391 well it's not impossible, capcom doesn't have the marvel license anymore and people tend to like crossover fighters. the main problem would be nintendo being reluctant to go through with it if they see it as competition to smash or something
>>267754869 My main thought would be that Capcom would want something hyper-competitive and technical and Nintendo would probably prefer a lower skill ceiling. Didn't everyone say Tatsunoko vs Capcom was easy as shit?
>>267754790 Don't know too much about Cable lore, but I think Apocalypse implanted some sort of virus into his arm. He's using his psychic powers to prevent that virus from going further into his body.
>>267756731 >absolute trash Even though I'm disappointed at the version of Jill they put in MvC3, she's way better gameplay wise in 3 compared to 2. You just have to put in a LOT of work, which next to nobody is willing to do.
>>267757478 Shit means nothing unless you're going to tournaments. When I played I regularly beat people with Hsien-ko both online and offline. Hell, you could have made a decent team out of those 2 since Tron's assist was so broken back then.
Game was very good, I still play it in an arcade that still has the game on occasion. I love playing Soki even though he's super susceptible to throws. His theme is fucking baller. I was pretty pissed off the NA version removed all of the amazing character themes that was in the original, but the NA version has some super sick themes of its own. Orbital Ring Systems Cargo Bay is probably my favourite song across both soundtracks.
I tourneyfagged hard in that game, TvC is still my shit
If my wii wasn't fucked up I'd reinstall riiviloution and hop on the server to knock off that stupid fuck that keeps picking stupid teams to frustrate newer players, as if new players even go through the effort of going online anymore
>>267759025 Wolverine is one of the basest, most entry-level characters. Putting Wolverine in and arguing that I should be appeased is like saying that I should be satisfied with the Injustice roster because it has Batman. I wanted characters meant for actual Marvel fans.
>>267759367 >I wanted characters meant for actual Marvel fans.
Yeah, MODOK, Rocket Racoon, Dormammu, Super skrull and Thor were so played out a few years ago, I don't even know why they went with Iron Fist, the most popular and iconic Marvel hero that everyone is familiar with
>>267759832 It doesn't matter how big the roster is if I don't care about a good portion of the cast. >Capcom side = almost entirely people I don't care about besides DMC characters, Amaterasu, and Viewtiful Joe >Marvel side = lackluster The game might as well have 15 characters.
>>267759123 The point is that "tourneyfagging hard" is a fucking retarded term and doesn't even make sense. Especially considering that all it means at this point is "better than the average player" or "able to do advanced techniques" and it sounds borderline autistic instead of just flat out saying that you got pretty good. The only people who use that term anyways are butthurt smash fans that get upset when people actually carry over even the smallest amount of skill from other fighting games.
Also, on another note wasn't CVS2 just about as broken as alpha 3 with lame shit like roll canceling that caused the scene to die early?
>>267760086 >Capcom side = almost entirely people I don't care about That probably just means you're not a big capcom fan. I mean, Ryu, Chun Li, Morrigan, Felecia, Chris, Jill, Wesker, Zero, Phoenix Wright, Arthur, Nemesis, Frank West, Strider and Haggar are all pretty major Capcom characters.
>Especially considering that all it means at this point is "better than the average player" or "able to do advanced techniques" and it sounds borderline autistic instead of just flat out saying that you got pretty good.
Except it means I actually went to tournaments and constantly sparred with other players like rollisyourmother, phampy, royalflush, james, and the like
>Also, on another note wasn't CVS2 just about as broken as alpha 3 with lame shit like roll canceling that caused the scene to die early?
That was the high level play I mentioned, it didn't kill anything though, it was played for a very long time. One just passed recently
It put commando up there until commando had to fight solo, in which more than often people would just call the match over before he was even hit.
Ryu can at least stand on his feet a bit better than commando but the actual top tiers in TvC can run circles over him. He can win if he plays perfectly which especially with a couple of characters amounts of guessing
>>267759367 So you wanted Wolverine to be missing so that some obscure bullshit could be put in? Half of the time people complain about the roster but then suggest the stupidest fucking characters afterwards. Perfect example I can remember off the top of my head is someone complaining about X-23 then they suggest black panther, another rush down character. Either that or they suggest a character that would end up being nothing but a shitty projectile spammer, or just completely useless trash because their design doesn't really even work with the rest of the cast (See Phoenix Wright, Arthur, Ghost Rider etc.) People just want their obscure favorite character in crossovers and are too retarded to realize that half the time the result would be shit anyways.
Also >I wanted characters meant for actual Marvel fans >Capcom side = almost entirely people I don't care about besides DMC characters, Amaterasu, and Viewtiful Joe As you proceed to mention the characters from all the least selling / popular series' in the game. There's no consistency.
>>267761360 >Top tier assist makes you top tier. That concept alone single handedly put Captain Commando into the top tier, did it not? What the fuck are you talking about? You're implying that two different assists, from completely different games, with completely different properties would have the same amount of influence. Not only that but in MVC2 there were teams that were essentially made to be 2 man teams with synergizing assist "fodder" that were pretty much useless otherwise except in very rare cases. Regardless, there's no game that is so broken that an assist would be pretty much carrying your entire team comp.
Phoenix Wright is actually pretty good though. He's extremely set up based though; very methodical. That is why most people don't pick him in the game, because rush down and Morridoom are the top flavours
EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY EY
you're reading him wrong, Commando didn't go to being top tier, he went to being really useful as an assist. As an actual fighter he's unfortunately garbage in MvC2 when put up against the bigger characters, but as an assist he's useful, meaning you effectively have a two man team as long as he's on board. He's a good assist, and even bigger liability.
>>267760656 >You're both idiots Except where did I indicate I didn't obviously know what he was talking about? I'm pointing out that it's still just a retarded smash term that doesn't need to catch on any more than it already has, and still sounds more retarded then just saying you played competitively or that you used to be a tourney player.
>You're implying that two different assists, from completely different games, with completely different properties would have the same amount of influence.
How did I read this wrong? I'm sorry, I'm not sure where I said anything of the sort. Please, point it out to me. Until then, I stand by my comment. Check any tier list for MvC2. Captain Command is placed top. Tier lists take all factors into account. Being among the best assists in the game does make up for being a shit character by oneself. That is my only point.
>>267762092 Except you don't understand how Commando works. MVC2 is a game that's incredibly picky when it comes to team comps, it's not like MVC3 where you can have a character that can just pop x-factor after just being an assist the whole game and suddenly be useful, or ones that were just good enough on their own. Certain characters are only good in other combinations, also if Ryu is an example of him being a tier whore, I'd like to ask why the fuck Alex was there?
>>267754790 if he uses the viper beam too many times the gun begins to take over his arm. like a reverse wolverine almost. That was only in the Uncanny X-men though, idk if the story was different in the cartoons or other series.
no, I'm someone else. You're making the mistake of misreading tier lists, which has been a cancer since they were first implemented.
Commando is great as an assist, he's an outright panic button, but that's it. If he didn't have that assist there would be zero reason to use him. He is a big liability, I don't know how to make that any clearer. It's like having a mugen character that can one hit kill everyone in the game but has really shitty normals and can die just as fast
>>267762008 >Phoenix Wright is actually pretty good though. He's extremely set up based though; very methodical. This is true about MODOK, not Phoenix Wright. Wright is bottom of the barrel trash and doesn't fit into any teamcomp. He has to have the comp built to support him because he essentially has no tools to help him and is worthless unless you pull off his evidence gimmick. He's worthless unless you do, even in X-Factor because he has no mobility, range, or any sort of versatility other than just trying to stall with terrible keep-away that can easily be broken through by any good player, or even any decent players that happen to have a character with a teleport. The reason people don't pick him isn't because some magical force that makes people only pick S Tiers, it's because he fucking sucks and his playstyle gets repetitive and gimmicky.
Wright is like using a 2003 Exodia deck in 2014 Yugioh. You can beat the few shitty players that actually let you stall them, but other than that, terrible.
>>267762978 Like the other guy just said, and like I PREVIOUSLY explained in the thread which you didn't get is that you're reading the list wrong. People read a tier list and think >top tier automatically means it's good! when the reality is that he's labelled "high" (note: high, not even top) simply because he can help out just about any team comp. The ability to completely shut down someone's approach is pretty damn useful in competitive play. On top of that you're assuming that every fighting game tier list functions the same across the board.
>>267764235 >Phoenix Wright is good as long as he has every single resource in the game, gets every piece of evidence, AND gets into turnabout mode! No shit? Except just about anyone can easily shut him down before he can get even half of that. Phoenix Wright is only good for getting XBL / PSN wins, or stomping terrible players who have no idea what's going on. He was terrible at first, but had potential, then they nerfed his assists and he became completely worthless. He's essentially just dark phoenix, but one that sits at the bottom of tier lists. 90% of the cast pretty much counters him as well.
>>267764478 Seriously. >5 fucking Shotos >Shit like Iceman >Two wolverines with almost no difference >Warmachine / Ironman >The way any character below mid tier functioned eg; Thanos / Sabretooth / Servebot A good half of MVC2's roster is shit, it's most impressive factor is that it's big.
>>267765809 >What's wrong with shoto variety? They're all pretty different. >Iceman is an effective counter to people who spam projectile assists (I routinely play against someone who often uses Iron Man, BB Hood and Captain Commando, although Iceman can't defend against BB, as I'm sure you know). >Bone claw is faster, Adamantium has a special that boosts speed to ridiculous levels: the minor differences let you mix up the play-style pretty well and makes sense canonically. >I'll give you Warmachine/ Iron Man, but WM's projectiles can chip Iceman, and has a unique, but limited special. >The movelists for below mid-tier characters can be preetty bad, but I've seen those characters used extremely well, even Servebot (there's a video of Justin Wong(?) beating some obnoxious asshole who challenged him: Wong used Roll, Servebot and Megaman, and made a show of the other guy). All the characters are viable if you can use them.
