Are you going to still play video games when you're old?
Why not? Video games are fun, if I have the time to do something fun, why not do it?
I've been playing games daily since I was 5. It's not something you just give up, it's part of my life now. Even if I don't enjoy them that much in the future, I'm pretty sure I'm addicted to computers so there's that.
Why would I stop engaging in my main hobby just because I've gotten older?
If you're dedicated to something, you continue if you enjoy it.
People who love to run continue into old age, movie buffs buy their next ticket even in retirement homes, cosplayers go to cons whilst decrepit, seamen continue their nautical ventures, possibly even more so, whilst suffering the ravages of time.
Why would I, along with so many others, be any different?
>implying that you gave up girls out of your own choice and not because they rejected you so much that you gave up
I've got a long term gf and a job and I still manage to play vidya every day. Step it up nigga
that's like asking, 'are you still going to watch movies when you're older' shortly after the movie industry/ medium took shape and continued to evolve
the act of playing is inherently human, just like telling stories, making art and music, etc
If I get old enough to barely be mobile that's probably all I'll do. Why not? It's probably the most fun I can have at that point.
Better than sitting in my wheelchair looking out the big window at the retirement home, hoping for an email from someone who still remembers I exist that will never come.
>Are you going to still play video games when you're old?
Possibly. It depends on how bad games have gotten at that point, and how easily I can play older games before the great decline.
But anon, I live for video games and consuming media in general. Why the hell should I ever give up?
You know you should be doing something more ambitious that you are putting off. That's why you enjoy them less.
When you go on those pursuits you will find that you can't throw countless hours at vidya. Then you will enjoy it as much as you once did.
I love video games too much for me to just turn my back on them like that.
Sure some recent games may be questionable but that doesn't make the already good games any worse.
I could spend a lifetime playing God Hand over and over again.
i'll be playing doom 2 on my fuckin deathbed
Journalists taking pictures of a woman who was shot after failing to halt when ordered to by pursuers when she was caught stealing paintings during that Earthquake shit that occurred a few years ago.
I'm more puzzled about why the paintings are still on the body. Did the journalists ask their owners/enforcers to leave them on the body for a bit so they could take pictures?
Same age and I know how you feel but lately I've been playing more games than ever. They just aren't AAA titles. I mean I buy the new games when they come out play them for a few hours then never touch them again. Mostly play Space Station 13. The last month has been a real binge. like at least 14 hours a day every single fucking day an entire month.
i'm going to be that one old faggot who talks about doing speedruns in super metroid and snake eater for fun as a teenager when his grandkids are just trying to play casual birds 20 on the new VR console.
Are you thinking of Mitch HEDBERG? If so, I have "Do You Believe in Gosh" on my phone and have been listening to it for the past 6 years.
RIP in piece
>I would imagine the inside of a bottle of cleaning fluid, is fuckin' CLEANNNN
Probably drugs or alchohol or something, got nothing else that really feels good anymore.
VR is never going to work. Players would need the equivalent of an adult baby walker, that is locked to the ground, to not break their necks while playing.
The brain is just not set up to get stimuli like that.
It's inevitable that eventually you'll grow out of video games. Video games are almost all aimed at the 12 to 22 crowd. Once you get older than that, you'll begin to force yourself to enjoy them. Until you absolutely can't anymore. Because you'll have outgrown them.
If vidya is still good, probably yes.
Christ even John Carpenter plays vidya and he's in his 60s.
>mfw he disliked Bioshit Infinite
Maybe. I always told myself I would travel when I save up enough, so I'd certainly like to do more than vidya when I'm older. But vidya is just a hobby at the end of the day, so it's not like you have to grow out of it. You just play shit when you want to and when something interests you.
So as long as decent games come out I'll probably keep playing. Even if they don't, my backlog is so massive I can't imagine finishing every game out there.
Holy shit, just imagine.
>70 years old
>Retired, giving no fucks.
>Everyday you wake up with little to no responsibilities but to enjoy life and to play vidya of the future.
Not to mention most old people are masters of comfy.
>70 years old
>Reflexes are shit, only able to competently play turn-based vidya or games that don't require quick input
>Can't handle stuff like VR as it messes with your eyes, and they're bad enough already
>Vidya is insanely expensive due to new technology and a constantly raising standard of income
>Controllers are awkward to use due to shaking hands or painful movements
>Keyboards are difficult to use as keeping your fingers on the proper keys can be tough
>Can't play much past a few hours, get too tired these days
I think you overestimate the benefits of being 70 years old.
Like the awesome future drugs and technology everyone thought we'd have in 2000?
Anon, based on movies we were supposed to be going around on hoverboards by now. We're hitting a technological wall these days and until we get another crazy ass development you can expect the same standards of living we have now in 30 more years.
>I feel like the target audience to current video games are 15 year olds
Well you're not really wrong. Vidya, as a newer form of media, is much more appealing to kids and teens than it is to adults who barely have any free time as is.
The more years pass the more difficult it becomes for me to sink 40+ hours into an RPG or some shit. I used to put much more into vidya, but I'm getting to the point where the weekend is my only free time.
Plus, kids don't have to pay rent or food bills so...yeah.
Fuck you I want a hoverboard.
>tfw 25 and mostly playing 3ds and wii u games now
it's like i'm reverse aging
Eh, people go through stages of interest as they age. When you're a kid violence and "mature" shit is cool to you. Once you grow up you look back at stuff that reminds you of a more comfortable, predictable time and yearn for that.
It's why you see a shit ton of people in college playing Pokemon or watching "kid" movies like Disney stuff. There's an appeal to going backwards as you grow up.
>Like the awesome future drugs and technology everyone thought we'd have in 2000?
Yes. People don't keep saying something is ten years away every decade because it actually takes ten more years of development than they thought. People say that every decade because it's not getting developed. Science and engineering don't advance everything at once, look at how the world's largest militaries are still using cold war era weapons. Look at how banks still use mainframes running FORTRAN programs. Look at all the incandescent and fluorescent lights around you, when LEDs have existed since 1970. Look at the advances in computers from 1998-2001 compared to 2007-2014
Time's been standing still and not many things make it move again, but when it does move it does so at a breakneck pace.
Pfffft, are you kidding me? I can't wait for my retirement, so I can finally get serious on my backlog. I will do nothing but play videogames and shitpost on whatever imageboard that will be still online all day long
Congratulations, you have now just spent more time deathly defending a terrible video game than you have spent time actually watching that game being played.
Now kill yourself.
You should probably go rent a copy of The Last of Us and actually play it instead of spending all your time on the internet valiantly whiteknighting a game you haven't even played.
>i'm an idiot for not judging things i haven't played
If you were any less intelligent i would have to water you twice a week.
Get used to it.
Not being retarded and jumping on the hate bandwagon like an edgy teenager.
It could be Pantsu Quest X for all that i care.
Whatever you say mouthshitter.
Spouting memes about something you haven't even played is not making up your own mind, kiddo.
>not hating something means you're defending it
>things are either black or white
You are indeed an uneducated piece of shit.
I feel sorry for old people.
Imagine gradually getting weaker and weaker to the point where walking upstairs is a challenge for you, and your friends and family are dying one by one
>Hey we should invite fred over soon
>Fred? He's dead...
>Well, what about Paul?
>He's dead too...
>Damn, Mike and Sarah then?
>They died 2 years ago, don't you remember?
I can imagine conversations like that happening :_;
Right now I'm a student but once I get a real job and make money I will make the battlestation of my dreams.
Tylenol is a pain reliever, you specifically mentioned Carpal tunnel. Millions of old bastards use Viagra to get their cocks up when they want to fuck, the thought behind it is no different than an old bastard taking some pain relievers for their joints to poke at a keyboard.
hey dudes! is this a brand spankin new meme, hot off the presses?
Then perhaps you shouldn't get into a conversation that has nothing to do with you since my complaining was about the guy spouting the "interactive movie" meme.
There we go, thanks for proving my point.
So what? Picasso still fucked around with painting even when senile. If you think I'm going to give a shit about playing a game at the highest difficulty or well at all when I'm crusty you're retarded.
Proving your point that you're an idiot who spends more time defending video games that he has no intention of even playing than actually playing video games?
Yup, we have proven your point that you are, in fact, a complete fucking idiot.
>thanks for proving my point.
now your making no sense anon
Proving my point that all you do is spout memes and have no actual argument to back the "it's a movie" statement.
Perhaps you should keep your mouth shut.
Maybe you have low iq, perhaps a clinical condition? I don't know.
The better question is will you still come here when you're old?
>Implying that's no different than now. You act like pressing keys is hard. There are people without arms who play video games. There are people who are blind that paint. If someone enjoys something they aren't going to give a shit and do it regardless.
>whilst suffering the ravages of time
>The only reason I come here now is to feel better about myself
How does that work?
So you laugh at people who are more miserable than you?
Well I guess that works.
Yes. Look how you care. Go back and read all your posts in this thread and feel shame. And then respond to me with a desperate attempt at making yourself look like less of an idiot by calling everyone else an idiot. Come on. Do it.
Perhaps you perhaps don't perhaps understand perhaps what perhaps I'm perhaps trying perhaps to perhaps say. Perhaps I'm perhaps just perhaps fucking perhaps with perhaps with perhaps you perhaps because perhaps you're perhaps an perhaps autistic perhaps child.
I think not. But if I ever have grandchildren I like to imagine that whenever they get stuck in a video game they'll ask for my help.
Tbh though, with how casualized video games have become if they manage to get stuck they're probably retarded.
No, that guys is pretty much right. "Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you fall into an open sewer and die"
This famous quote will echo through the ages long after you can muster a butthurt response to it.
32 and just finished Sleeping Dogs off my backlog,
>MFW he's mentioned interest in wanting to a Dead Space game but no one will let him
Possibly, especially if virtual reality or semi-sentient AI's becomes a thing. I have a deep interest for technology, I don't see it waning so soon.
God help me if I'm still posting on 4chan by the time I'm 60, though.
I have a fucking huge backlog of JRPGs, and I can see them becoming my only reason to live when I hit old age. Wonder what age it'll become creepy to be a Mikufag or still like NepNep?
I have White Knight Chronicles I and II on there even though I know they're supposed to be pretty boring... But then again I also have the Xenosaga games on there...
My backlog is horrid.
Just so there's no hard feelings, I want you to know...I take back what I said about calling you autistic.
I don't really think you're autistic at all. Everything you've said in this thread is perfectly normal and not at all indicative of a mental disease of any kind.
I hope I don't get shit like arthritis in my fingers that would stop me playing stuff like DMC. I guess it's inevitable, but that would really depress me if I hit that stage.
I got a burn on my finger the other day that made it painful to even play Dark Souls and it made me think way too much about what I'll do when I can't enjoy games anymore because of pain
>on single guy derailed the whole thread
Never change /v/
>Are you going to still play video games when you're old?
36 and still playing daily.
Of course I am. I might not be able to tell people that I play video games in the future though, judging by the the cultural vilification its undergoing from both conservatives and now liberals.
Damn right I am. Gonna play Vidya till the day I die.
Holy fuck, that made me sad. He has a valid point and sound like a cool dude in general but he gets attacked by a whole sabbath of normalfags. On freaking website for social outcasts. On COMICS BOARD.
Truly, popularity is a plague that destroys everything in the universe
