Sonic Adventure 2. Thought they'd get lazy after the first one and they went all-in the second time.
They got everything about that game right.
>Phantasy Star Zero
Amazing for a DS release and the 4th disc is a premium arrange where it's live orchestration instead of midi.
>All the posts for the 320/fIac have been purged from 2009
And my old OST drive crashed before my rare ones got backed up.
Too bad it's down everywhere, amazing OST more people should experience.
Crystal Chronicles surpassed every expectation and remains my favorite game to this day. Music felt very authentic and the composer had a whole thing about using ancient instrument types to give the game its own unique feel.
Dynasty Warriors 8
I don't really remember many of the earlier games' tracks save for the generic "winning battle" music, but DW8 had god tier OST.
I'd argue that the gameplay isn't all that interesting and most people just remember having a blast with the co-op.
BUT god damn if it didn't have some of the nicest artwork and sound design.
I remember being younger and getting pissed that you can't skip the intro when you start a new file.
Now I don't know why anyone would want to.
inb4 spergs cry about english version, both are fine
Stop reminding me of that game /v/.
It makes me fucking depressed that there will never be an hd remake with online functionality. I used to have actual consistent dreams of that game when I was younger.
>4th disc is a premium arrange where it's live orchestration instead of midi
Looked this up
>For a DS exclusive
This was a great game and loved playing it before the DS servers went down. Had no idea that the OST was this extensive though.
Is it really down everywhere?
>Older PS OSTs are rampant in 320 and even proper rips
But this one is newer and nowhere to be found?
There are so many varied sets of music from great ambient music, to lighthearted combat, to I'MGOINGTOFUCKYOURMOTHERINTHEFACEANDYOURENEXT music.
Best OST of all time.
>It makes me fucking depressed that there will never be an hd remake with online functionality.
First thing I was hoping for when Wii U was shown.
But then "lolonly1gamepadatatime"
It at least deserves a sequel that lives up to the first
>I'd argue that the gameplay isn't all that interesting
>You will never had 3 friends over with their GBAs connected for max combos/hunting/map coverage
That game was perfect.
It was pretty good but disc 4 was the real listening experience. They should have released that game on the Wii/PC with a disc 4 quality OST. It would have sold like crazy.
>PSO 2: The Money Grab
The series is going to shit.
No not three, the first one.
>implying this track isn't amazing in theme and context
Wild Arms 5.
To be fair, at that point in the series I expected the music to be really good. And then it blew me away by being some of the best in the series.
The only good thing about this game was OST. But damn those 2-3 songs were amazing.
Can't believe how underrated this OST was.
>That airport scene
>That song plays
>Tfw kill everyone in the airport
Thank you rockstar.
Thanks for making me feel shitty and like a badass in the same game.
That shit played with my emotions.
>tfw nothing went right
>tfw It all led to the end
>not even trolling
CoD actually made something a little fresh,
The whole boost jump and able to parkour from roof to roof added a whole new dynamic to the fight. aside from the lay out of classes prestige perks etc are the same, they bump down the damage abit so its not just bullshit death, you actually can survive and live if you use your head.
>But this one is newer and nowhere to be found?
Pretty much. If you didn't grab it in 09 you're out of luck. No one cared enough to post it up again
It isn't even up anywhere in anything other than streem quality.
That's a Wetta cricket. Its bite is a little painful but won't break the skin. The liquid there is secretions from it's pinsir, completely harmless.
They like carrots.
>boost jump and able to parkour from roof to roof
Hey-lowdid this ages ago.
>They're ripping off the superior ef pea es again!
even better OST by Tommy Tallarico
I still listen to this OST from time to time
The Ace Attorney series, but mainly the trilogy. Posting the best courtroom song from each of the first three
I expected great, what I got was
F-Zero GX. I mean, it's F-Zero so of course it's going to have a great soundtrack but I wasn't expecting the songs that only play in the fucking character bios to be so god-tier.
Ayesha's Maria took me by surprise
Shadow Hearts: Covenant, holy shit.
>That fight with Astaroth
How did such an underwhelming boss get so thematic?
Only one real answer.

Try not to rage.
already know what goes here
>You will never walk into the lobby for the first time again
Because sega is a pack of retards bro. We'll get our day in the sun again someday, just wait.
This is kiiiiiinda thread related but I really want to know what people think
I'm an amateur vidya composer. Here's my soundcloud:
The "MIDI series" songs are all MIDI songs I made years ago that I recently found on a flashdrive.
Tell me what you think about the songs!
Also to keep this post on-topic, there's this Iphone game called Battleheart which, despite being a piece of IoS shit, has an INSANE soundtrack.
All right OP, you wanna talk games whose OST surpassed my expectations?
>You will never hit lv 80 for the first time, pick from hundreds of parties of new players, jump into Episode II, get all the way up to Sea Beds and beat Olga Flow as the only survivor in your party
Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World. Nintendo really went all out on these.
Atelier Meruru is also pretty fucking glorious.
OoT is in my top 3 Zelda OSTs with Wind Waker and Majora's Mask.
I found out that's actually radius based, Olga flows divine punishment only extends as far out as his Gael Giel mags are. So if you kill his mags you not only limit his power, you nerf his OHKO range.
I have no idea what's so special about KS OST, songs seem very simple.
Nonetheless it's deffinitely one of my favourite OSTs. It's perfect for when you want to feel comfy and relaxed.
I always makes me feel good when I see people using these portraits. They took me a long ass time.
More god-tier Kid Icarus music:
Paper Mario Sticker Star.
Although that was the only part that surpassed my expectations. Everything else was a disappointment.Something about the Blooper boss clapping to the beat of the boss music makes me smile every time.
How is it this is just being brought to my attention?
>Never got a chance to play it before DS servers went down
>Didn't even know DS had servers
Always thought you just connected to people.
>Missed the game
>OST is gone
Because the original game (Sangoku Musou) was a fighting game
From DW2 onwards, it was named Shin Sangoku Musou in Japan, but the translator couldn't be assed to name True Dynasty Warriors or some shit like that
Plenty of people still play like it never went down.
If your DS uses an M3 or something similar, it takes a few minutes and you're ready to go.
Yeah it was smashed into oblivion price-wise because the game was coded to bIock out carts which worked for about a month, then a patched version bypassed the cart check and that was that. You couldn't give the game away once that happened.
Not sure but considering starting up a new character if there's a server that works.
Can anyone confirm?
NieR comes to mind and some tracks from DoD. Killer7 had some creative stuff. Other than these nothing really surpassed my expectations.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph4f06Q5ItE (Trigger warning.)
This game has an overall perfect soundtrack but this...
Wasn't expecting anything. Got a masterpiece
>mfw i find out chipzel is an adorable little northern irish gril from the same city as me
>She keeps talking to them like they're dogs
>They refuse to get mad
>She gets mad that they won't take her bait
>They say they would rather talk to a man because she is a nobody
>Tells him to go
THAT MAN IS A FUCKING HERO
>Expect typical BA BA type soundtrack with 3d world
Just when I think you've gone stale Nintendo, you just blow the goddamn house down
>no bravely default
>no ys games
you may as well be deaf
The two hosts use the slut to make them MlLLlONS
which to us is around 8 USD
>He slapped their investment/sex toy
Can't undo that slap though. He's the fucking man forever.
>Go into Tales of the Abyss expecting your typical JRPG
>Get anything but that
What a fucking great game
you may hate the game but shit t hat soundtrack is god tier
Never really liked the Ys stuff. I think it was more of a 'it was good for the time' sort of deal.
Bravely Default on the otherhand has one of the best standard battle themes I've ever heard
Such a breath of fresh air after playing Ni No Kuni where the battle ends long before the song gets properly started.
Age of Mythology, the title theme is pretty meh but all the music that played in game was chill as fuck. I listen to it regularly.
R.I.P Ensemble Studios ;_;
>Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario 3D World. Nintendo really went all out on these.
Fucking this, especially MK8. Like every other MK has had an average at best, but mostly forgettable soundtrack with a few good songs on there. MK8's is legitimately good.
Probably went overboard there but I don't care. Fantastic themes all around.
To be fair, I didn't have any expectations because I barely knew anything about it. All I knew was it was some game that got a massive public request for localization. Picked up for $30 at gamestop before they went full jew.
Was surprised with one of the best jrpg's I've played in years.
>Fagstop exposed for reprinting and gauging
And then we all emu'd.
>Ctrl+F "Crash Twinsanity"
seriously niggers? Do you guys not like a capella?
You wasted your time.
nineof those tracks.
They were a
pleasant surpriseof a post. Thankyou for sharing.
>No Drakengard 2 soundtrack
You disappoint me, /v/.
>Have the Toys Are Us OST
>American release OST
>Two Japanese variants
>Orchestral mini albums
And own the games
and still haven't found time to play them
Take that! And proceed to be confused.
still in the wrapper
Who would've guessed that a game called "Paper Mario" would have some great music when it first came out?
>People being surprised no Drakengard OSTs posted
To be fair, they are shit games with great music.
>mfw mine got dispatched this morning
Play Origins, it is actually really good. Hard, sometimes really hard, but has some of the best voice-acting I've ever heard compared to the 1st.
Motherfucking Origa you motherfuckers
Thanks, got everything as soon as it came out because of this
Brought me into the whole series.
And noted, hopefully going to have some more time after the holidays and so many people recommend it to this day
>playing bastion for first time
>okay it's one of those 2deep4u indie games right?
>mfw after a hour into the game
>yfw the second thing the old man misses is pussy
>mfw playing Wild Arms and listening the OST for the first time
This shit was PS1's equivalent of Chrono Trigger
>inb4 Chrono Cross >inb4 PS1's port of Chrono Trigger You get what I mean
AGE OF WONDERS 1
Dragon's Dogma, that main menu theme caught me off guard
Darksiders 1 & 2. I honestly wasn't expecting anything extraordinary and then HOLY SHIT was I wrong
>No Morrowind theme song
Im disjointedness in you lads
Wow this OST really is impossible to find.
How is every post for this broken but early PSO posts with the OST still work?
>PSO was 2000
>PS Zero was 2009
>PS Zero purged from existence in 320/loss less
This is nuts, someone explain this wizardry.
>tfw need to hear this 4th disc in high quality everyone is talking about
>SchooI safety expert
Looks like anybody can be a buIIshit expert at anything these days.
why haven't you played FREE 2D SONIC FANGAMES with TOP TIER ORIGINAL MUSIC?
Why was Drakengard 2 so bad?
>CoD actually made something a little fresh,
>The whole boost jump and able to parkour from roof to roof added a whole new dynamic to the fight. aside from the lay out of classes prestige perks etc are the same, they bump down the damage abit so its not just bullshit death, you actually can survive and live if you use your head
what does any of that have to do with music? Shill detected
Freedom Wars OST is one that really took me by surprise- I didn't think I'd buy into the oppresive atmosphere as much as I did and a big part of that is due to the music. The dreary tones you hear while walking around the panopticon and some other areas just fir so well.
On the other hand, the bluesy slap bass tunes, while effective at giving you a reprieve from the bleak reality inside the prison, were maybe a bit too lighthearted for my liking...
Fucking Tropical Freeze, I knew that David Wise was involved but jesus, I didn't expect that, it blew my mind.
He needs to be in the sequel, maybe he could help in the Retro Studios's new Metroid game.
Freedom Fighters. It was probably the only game with an intro I never skipped because of it's amazing music.
