Why wouldn't she...?
>By kid's standards, she's a lame toy
>She's a bland girl (not very marketable unlike Peach that somehow has sex appeal)
>From a series aimed at soccer moms
They're 13 dollars.
And they have direct competitors that offer better quality at a similar or lower price point.
They're new at it is not an excuse either. Activision practically founded the market and they didn't have huge QA issues like the Amiibos.
The simpler characters can get by with their sculpts like Mario or Yoshi, but they still suffer from poor paint apps and splotches. The more complex characters just have QC issues all over the place.
A lot of this has to do with the fact that these toys are based on renders that were never meant to be actual toys. You end up with a lot lost in translation when you attempt to down scale and mass produce a high quality render. If Nintendo weren't so fucking sloppy and actually put some thought into the designs of these things then they wouldn't be having issues.
TL;DR - Overpriced for what they are and offer.
Venom is GOAT as fuck.
The Guardians figures also came out great.
>There on people on /v/ right now who weren't born during the golden age of McDonald toys
Probably the main problem is that the non-Amiibo figures were designed with being a figure in mind. The Amiibos were designed with "we HAVE to make them look like their trophy poses so let's put ugly plastic shit everywhere to hold them up"
These were fucking incredible. My brother and I got just as much enjoyment out of these as we would store bought toys.
The 101 dalmatians line was fucking fun too.
I got the pink one. I was pretty pissed but I learned to love it. and seeing that she got the coolest plane I guess I lucked out. but yea man some mcdonalds toys were super nice and great for poor kids. I remember some bionicle ones and THE DOG in particular.
i dont even like /toy/ and i know ur baiting
>Surely you are just interested in the code to get the character in the game?
The figures are a good idea because they has always been a demand for figures of Nintendo characters(and Smash Bros trophies from Melee onwards) with Amiibo some characters like Fox actually get some figures.
A code would just fail, it's like the e-reader cards it's extra content but it doesn't really come with anything people wanted.
hell I don't think we'd be that disappointed even if they didnt' show us the super high quality promotional ones and then shit on our faces with all these dumb changes
How fucking hard is it to make sure Dorpsbewoner's nose isn't so fucking low and his eyes are in the right place
And also if they bothered to make the plastic supports clear for everyone
For what reason does Link need a frozen block of piss supporting his leg
also shouldn't he be facing more straight ahead instead of downward
I don't think it was a good idea to even design any of them in such a way that they would need supports
Aside from looking like shit no matter what color they are, the amiibos are small and meant to be used for vidya playing instead of just gathering dust on a shelf like most figures
It's just begging to get manhandled too hard or dropped or something, and then you end up with a figureless trophy base
well it's nowhere near as bad as sony shit though, if anything $13 is a cheap price to pay (albiet even if they look kinda bad) for my favourite nintendo character and DLC functionality for games
I've already got 5
>Nintendrones expecting a quality product from their overlords
He bought two copies of Alpha Saphire, he probably has a family or friends to play with, you lonely sad being.
Nintendo must be swimming in money by now
>projecting this hard
(and instead of he, I should probably just say you. Stop pretending you're someone else)probably got the extra copy just for the picture so it seemed as if he had friends.
>bought Mario, Samus and Fox
>mfw they're all top quality
I don't know, you guys, I think mine turned out pretty alright.
I must admit that I'm not overly fond of the grooves on all the DK amiibos where his lower jaw and upper jaw meet. I get that it's an unfortunate product of the design but it makes him look like he has a Glasgow smile.
Weird, it was the opposite over at my local Toys R Us. M8 and I got the last Wii fit and Villager respectively, they were completely out of Marth and Mario and they had a ton of Dongs and Peaches.
why the fuck do they level up so fast? i played the game for maybe a total of 3 hours and my amiibo is at max level 50.
can they still learn to and evolve after level 50? because mine pretty much sucks at fighting
It's going to be a long 3-4 months. Stay strong.
>3-4 month wait for my space princess
I want her too, anon. I want, like, 5 of those 3 figures.
Not sure if I had one of those, probably not; but it had a sort of boat and could float.
One day I took it to the beach and it started to drift off, I went after it and nearly drowned. I even had a sort of out of body experience.
If anyone ever finds a red Power Ranger sailing a boat in the ocean. Please help him, he is my childhood.
>Was going to get Mario,Sonic,Megaman and Pacman
>Sonic looks like shit
>Decided to get my mains then
>Captain Falcon has a colorless dildo on his leg
>Shulk is a 5\10
>Ike isn't looking that good either
>Falco wasn't even announced yet
I guess I will just get the best looking ones.
I almost hope Ike shelfwarms so I don't have to worry about him going Sanic fast.
Can I put my Amiibo on top of my computer?
Not entirely sure if any electronic interference would occur..
>TL;DR - Overpriced for what they are and offer.
I do agree they're overpriced, but you've got to remember that they aren't just figures. They have functionality within Smash, as well as unlocking content in Mario Kart and possibly other games down the road.
Competitors may offer better figures at a better price but these are more than that
>Friend gets new smash with Kirby
>Beat the shit out of him for 30 minutes
>Laugh for 30 more
>Laugh at how well he dodges for 30 minutes
>Laugh now because he always focuses little mac because he wins most games
>Now named mac killa
Shit is nice
Not with multiple games, they don't. Already out of the gate there's compatibility with 3 different games and at least, like, 4 more coming soon. And that's just in next couple of months.
I usually play no items FD only but still casual about it, idgaf about kicking everyone's ass at the game. Just want a bit of fun. I'll go with the pro, thanks for the advice anon
Actually they do work with multiple games, the Skylanders toys are cross-compatable amongst games in the series, you can use your old figures whenever a new game comes out. Same with Infinity.
In any case it doesn't really matter because compatability between games doesn't increase the cost of amiibo production. NFC is pretty near universal.
>I believe these figures cost only 10 bucks precisely because they are pure shit.
>Good ones cost at least 100 dollars.
You literally don't know what you're talking about.
Okay I collect some Kamen Rider Crap. Some of those toys use RFID chips and you can get them for like $7 easy if you go for the "capsule toy" versions which I'm gonna go ahead and equate to these figures quality-wise. I know comparing a small coin (which is probably about 3/4ths the size of an amiibo base) or an even smaller ring to a full on figure isn't entirely fair, but the point I'm trying to make is that you can sell these cheaply and not skimp too hard on quality.
Furthermore what is that "good ones cost at least 100 dollars" shit? You mean figures? I've got a Toon Link Nendoroid, brand new, and it was only about $40 and that's after shipping. Again, I know comparing a figure made for collectors and a statue made for children isn't fair. Look at the kid's action figures they can get for ten bucks at walmart based on power rangers or Xmen or whatever. They're larger and you can actually do shit with them. They're about on par quality wise, and that's not a compliment to either mind you.
>Get a Marth amiibo
>Play until it's level 50
>It's a near even match for me
Fuck I don't even want to train it anymore because I'm going to start losing to the fucking AI if it keeps getting better
so are these amiibos worth getting for the gameplay? I've seen enough pictures to know that at the very least they are gonna require some serious time spent looking at them to make sure I get one that isn't deformed in some way build-wise.
>being angry that your student surpassed you
Do you think Piccolo got angry when Gohan fired his first masenko? Do you think Piccolo got angry when Gohan became Super Saiyan 2, then became ultimate thanks to the Kai's training?
Embrace what has now happened, Anon. Your Gohan is about to become Super Saiyan.
the only amiibo i got and they're all tilted so he faces down.
It's just weird that an AI has gotten better at Smash than nearly everyone I've known in such a short time. It took like 2-3 hours.
Fuck it, I'm just gonna get really good against playing AI Marth I guess.
Depends on what kinds of games you play. Right now I'd say no, unless you really into "training" an AI in Sm4sh to fight with or against, yourself or your friends.
Really the only substantial Amiibo is Link, and that's only if you own Hyrule Warriors since it unlocks a DLC weapon. This isn't necessarily a good thing either.
What? Both of them realised that you fucking idiot
Fucking nintendo false scarcity marth bullshit
Mad as fuck I don't have the full first wave
>Own an actual ROB
>Still no ROB Amiibo announced
>forget all about amiibos
>oh shit they're probably all sold out
>Toys R Us had all 12 for online orders
>And they had a 3 for 30 deal going with free shipping
>spent 50 dollars less than I was expecting
Dong looks pretty alright compared to some of the others
Is there any way to get those giant piles of shitty plastic off the base without brute force? If I'm gonna have a low quality figure I at least want it to be the first thing I see when I look at my amiibo.
Why'd you pre-order two copies of each?
I only pre-ordered one copy of each and got both plushies
>Marth and Villager amiibos are still in stock, because of their ugly faces
I shouldn't have to laugh, but I couldn't not resist.
>Actually go to a store
>pretty much any amiibo looks just fine
I know that people get paranoid sometimes about there being marketers here but holy fucking shit.
It doesn't even matter if it's paid or an actual job, people are seriously dedicating time to the slander of a product? Seriously?
They really don't though.
If you mean for their price, however, I suppose I can get behind that. Sure, the minimalist designed characters like Pikachu and Kirby look great, because you can't fuck that up, but Marth, Link, Peach, those more ornate characters, are something of a mess. But it's fine, because it's like $13. You can't really find good figurines for $13. Even the Good Smile Nendoroid lineup is usually around $30.
>tfw cap'n is inevitably going to be awful
Honestly from what I've seen the only ones that look weird are the human-looking ones like Link and Marth. Everyone else seems to be fine, with the exception of Villager because most from what I've seen have odd eyes
>tfw all I want is a pink haired, female Robin amiibo
Not trying to be an ass here or anything, but let's be real here, the Amiibos are geared towards the Skylanders/Infinity market, ergo children. And children are going to be more receptive to the Mario lineage and the like over that faceless lady in the work out game.
I didnt know I wanted this until just this second
That's bullshit anyway. Most of them have really good quality, especially for the price.
The ones that look ugly I feel are due to poor design choices and not cheaping out (like the Villager or Marth)
People getting into misprinted figures i see.
>Go to GameStop yesterday, ask about amiibo
>Clerk says the only ones they have left are Mario and Peach
>"th-that's okay, thanks"
>Walk out empty handed
Why the fuck didn't I just get Mario? I wasn't thinking.
>Make a post about the trailer for amiibos being autistic and needs to be in autism threads due to the high second hand embarassment levels
>It gets deleted
IT'S OKAY WHEN IT'S NINTENDO!
They do it for
I bought all of them. I'm not disappointed with any of them. They all look at least decent.
Don't know why everyone is shitting on Marth. I think he is actually one of the best looking ones, besides his face obviously. Maybe I was lucky with the batch that I pre-ordered.
>They have functionality within Smash, as well as unlocking content in Mario Kart and possibly other games down the road.
>Competitors may offer better figures at a better price but these are more than that
Why does everyone conveniently forget the fact that Disney and Skylanders other big gimmick is their cross compatibility and future proofing?
Skylander figures are compatible with future games. Disney Infinity figures are compatible with future games. Right now Skylanders is compatible with 4 games, and around 14 different versions. Disney Infinity is compatible with 2 games with around 10 different versions.
And their compatibility isn't limited to unlocking DLC. The thing with Skylanders and DI is that the games are designed entirely around the toys. They're not some cheap after thought. Not only that, ALL toys are future proof with upcoming games. Not just some.
The Nintendo figures are optional, and I'm sure that's what a lot of you find great. But to compare the compatibility Amiibos have with Skylanders and Disney Infinity is a complete joke. They don't offer anything substantial. They're glorified e-cards.
