ITT:We Discuss how excited we are for The Witcher 3, along with themes and features we hope to see
can anyone confirm this is the correct reading order?
I'm looking forward to finally being able to play a proper Witcher game, tracking down monsters, figuring out their nesting places, weaknesses, strengths. Preparing yourself for the battle then finally going on to hunt their asses.
I guess it'll have to be the appetizer after the grand meal of Dragon age: Inquisition, by the brave men and women of Bioware. It was also elected as the game of the year! Bioware truly knows what us gamers want.
It is, but I actually read Last Wish and then Blood of Elves. I got around to Sword of Destiny after Baptism of Fire. It's just short stores like Last Wish. Nothing essential but some nice flavor text and character intros.
I really hope they can make the 80 (or whatever the number was) unique monsters really unique and hard to fight
first thing I'd do is ignore the main story line, hunt this motherfuckers down and getting good gear and experience while doing so
>Poorfag with shitty PC that can't run The Witcher
>Bought a PS3 instead of 360 so no Witcher 2
>Witcher 3 comes out right around tax season so I can finally play one of the fucking games
Here's hoping for The Witcher HD Collection on PS4.
here is EXACTLY what im expecting
im expecting it to be alightly above TW2 in terms of graphical fidelity, most specifically in animations and character models
I'm expecting the main quest to be slightly longer but play out in an almost exact similar 3 act fashion
im expecting there to be about twice as many sidequests with a side narrative holding them together
im expecting to be able to spend a day or two not doing any quests at all and hunting monsters in the "open" world (im aware that its just 3 moderately sized sections)
this is literally all I want and if it matches that it will be the best game I've played since i was a kid
>Swede advertising SJW: The Single Player MMO Game
what else is new?
>mfw you can romance both and they're fine with it
I think there's something they aren't showing us. Since the kingdoms are pretty much kicking the shit out of each other and the game is open world, do you think we'll get to see some of these battles up close? like stumble on a huge cluster fuck between armies?
planning on Triss but if the game convinces me then Yenn
like how I spent all of TW2 thinking I was gonna rape Letho and then he told me about how he took care of Yenn and rescued Triss for me for good measure
>Mfw you can romance both and they say they're fine with it, but they're really not.
>Expecting good combat, like the previous games
I think you mean "unlike" because the combat in previous games was atrocious. It's the main thing holding me back from being interested in 3.
I hope we will get to see her
>sex cards are brought back for when playing as Ciri
>all men, except for one girl
Seems like as good a thread as any to ask
I'm kind of late to the party but I just started playing the first game today. It's alright, but can someone please tell me it gets better? I'm pretty early in, just doing the outskirts stuff, but so far combat is god awful boring with zero depth, conversations bounce back and forth in quality (they seem overall well written and I'm guessing the flaws come from translation issues), the pacing on everything is so slow (constantly getting these press LMB five times to win fights followed by a needless 2 second cutscene before back to playing, why can't that just be dialogue?) and the visuals aren't really much to write home about.
Maybe my expectations are too high. After seeing /v/ hype the series up so much over the years I went in expecting to be blow away. Instead it seems like a solid 6/10 which /v/ usually would shred apart. Does the first game improve at some point? Does the second game hold up better?
>"T-they just call me a troll and can't respect that other people have differing opinions."
Anon in reality
>"THIS GAME IS SHIT LOL I COULDN'T EVEN MAKE IT PAST KAER MORHEN"
I really want to like it because it does seem to garner so much praise, it's just been really underwhelming so far. Maybe I'd be enjoying it more if I hadn't been so hyped up already.
Also I really kept hoping through the opening fort that combat would get more in depth. I was expecting something like 'great now you can parry, do this this and this to parry incoming attacks' and instead if never did except for getting the force push thingy.
This is the best version of yenn, I don't know why they changed anything at all from this.
Aside from the hair colour change, that made sense.
I agree, she needs more hips.
iirc from the books wasn't she quite a bosomy woman with perfect childbearing hips?
I played till act 3 or 4 and the game was still shit.
Combat was still click click click combo shit.
dialogue didn't improve.
didn't give a fuck about my "companions" or anyone involved in anything
Witcher 1 is just a shit game that /v/ loves because of its edgelord dialogue and its traditional rpg fetch quests.
/v/ loves fetch quests so long as it has the witcher brand on it
What edgelord dialogue?
Geralt helping Vincent cure his lycanthropy with true love sure was fucking edgy. That part where he said its beautiful how it worked wonders, edgy as fuck.
It's amazing you played the game until Act 4 and couldn't comprehend any of the dialogue up until that point.
Can you invite me for Knedlíki?
So how many of the books are even available in english? I have The Last Wish and on the websites I've looked at it seems there are at least two others that're translated, including Blood of Elves.
Bought the books because of the game. Have Witcher 1 and 2 in my library as well.
Pre order my copy from GOG. Lots of good, or at the least, interesting games coming in 2015 after the drought thisyear.
>MGS Phantom Pain
>Pillars of Eternity
>Kingdom Come Deliverance
Upgraded my rig just for Witcher 3 though.
>Upgraded my rig just for Witcher 3 though.
I'm not sure if I should or not.
Looking to buy a new monitor, either 2k or 144hz, and then maybe a new graphics card as well.
Goddamnit I'm looking forward to this game more than anything at the moment.
I hope so.
In the books Geralt spends a good time going through forests and villages trying to avoid the frontlines as it constantly shifts.
I'd like to see the battles far off in the distance or troops marching by you.
>Caring about Witcher 3 after it was downgraded to look like a PS3 game
You people will eat any shit that gets shovelled your way. Who would've thought /V/ of all places would be filled with casual shiteaters.
you can only dream whore of germany :^)
So how well do you guys think the game will run?
I have an i5 2500k and a GTX 780, I hope I can reach 60fps at 1080p without lowering too much stuff.
I'm hoping they have a better AA solution this time around. Ubersampling in 2 looks a bit iffy and made the framerate drop too much for my liking, but downsampling from 1440p and using SMAA works pretty damn well.
Goddamn I'm looking forward to this. I just played through 2 again recently, it's even more fun than it was the first time around, now that I tried to play a little bit smarter.
Should be fine, intel haven't moved past 20% improvment yet, and my 2600 runs everything without a hitch too. And polaks are into math - i bet delay was due to optimisation issues.
>intel haven't moved past 20% improvment yet
Jeez, really? I mean I guess I should be glad that I haven't had to upgrade for so long, but you'd think they would've made some bigger strides with CPUs at this point.
I want to build a new PC solely to enjoy the Witcher (and other stuff after I build it of course) so what should I get to play it at 60fps 1080p?
I can't say that I have an unlimited budget but I want to be just above the threshold of running this game perfectly.
I can't seem to get mine to OC to more than 3.7Ghz without my PC bluescreening after a while.
Granted, I haven't overclocked before and my PC knowledge doesn't really extend that far beyond basic shit, so I could just be doing something wrong.
Still, the OC gives me a really nice performance boost, and overall it's pretty much a great CPU.
From my limited knowledge, it seems to me that the GTX 970 is a pretty great buy right now if you want bang for your buck. You might not even need that good a card depending on how well they optimize the game; I'm pretty sure CDProjekt has a decent track record when it comes to their games running well on a different range of hardware.
A decent i5 CPU would be enough I think. Lots of people think they have to get an i7 for gayman because muh higher number but as far as I know the only difference between an i5 and an i7 is that the i7 has hyperthreading, which no games use anyway.
Try asking around in PC building threads and look up the prices at whatever PC hardware site is best for you. Logicalincrements can be handy but make sure to do your own research.
Thanks man, as a complete IT retard, all I know is the graph card is the most important but beyond that I have no idea where to start.
I guess I'll lurk /g/ a bit more and ask some friends.
Just don't get a non-k version. I bought an i5 3570 and it's been depressing the shit out of me about what could have been
I've just tried to build a PC using assemblio.hr (I don't know how much luck you can have since it's not in English) and adding the GTX970 and an i5 gets it well above the €1000 I initially had in store without the screen, mouse, keyboard and speakers.
Back to the coal mines to earn some more
If you can see yourself being willing to try overclocking somewhere down the line when maybe the stock performance of your CPU isn't cutting it anymore, get the k version. If you're like my friends who all pay a site to put everything together for them and buy a new PC every 2 or 3 years because they're scared shitless of upgrading individual parts or messing around with anything, save a few bucks and get the non-k version.
I'm neither of the two.
I'm the poorfuck anon who's spent his free time playing Playstation 1 emulated and pre 2005 games that can run on his 8 year old PC, I have a Radeon x1650 and I never bothered to upgrade since I had school and work to focus on.
I don't know about assemblio, but the site I buy from (komplett.no) tends to have some really good sales from time to time, so I've kinda made it a rule at this point to not buy a GPU/CPU unless one of them is on sale, which can really save you a lot of money.
If you live somewhere komplett ships to, you might want to check them out if assemblio don't have a lot of decent sales.
Building a decent PC can be a bit of an investment depending on a number of things, but I honestly think you more or less make it back in the long run concidering steam sales and the fact that most PC games are just a lot cheaper than console games.
If your budget can take it, I'd say go for the k version. Being able to overclock better can spare you from having to upgrade your CPU for a while.
It's not a huge deal if you have to get the non-k version due to budgetary constraints though.
This is what I expect from W3. Anything less than this will be a disappointment.
I'll still buy and play it but only because CDPR laughs in the face of SJWs and retards.
>i'll still buy and play it but only because CDPR laughs in the face of SJWs and retards.
Funny because one of The Witcher's main themes is social justice. It was in TW1 and in TW2, no doubt it will be in TW3 as well.
That argument doesn't work because Ciri is hot and she shows off a little bit of cleavage. Everybody knows SJWs hate Witchers beautiful women because their idea of a woman is the hamcow American standard.
I'm not even going to open this, because I know what its going to be
>meme spouting 4chan faggot spreading false rumors because he thinks hes funny
>he probably has the fedora tipping guy for a forum avatar and a meme inspired username
I did not want to feel those feels today anon, fuck you.
The pre-release footage of TW2 looked way worse than the final game, so here's to hoping that CDPR will do the same this time around.
They can't sell out this hard, can they?
This was already disproven when they added the uncompressed version of the footage. They fucked up and used youtube quality footage for their video because they didn't care about EA's little party that much.
A bit too epic, but i'm digging it.
Yes they did, they said they'd never downgrade the game and the problem is compression.
Then they uploaded the uncompressed video footage and it looks fucking great. There have been screenshots posted of it multiple times itt.
I downloaded that, it features the same problems as the "compressed" youtube version.
Here is the screen from that video.
>tfw CDPR has had to deal with more bullshit from bullshit armchair activists from 4chan over bullshots than Ubisoft and From combined
>their only crime was not having any jews handle their marketing
>to download files larger than 1GB, download the mega extension
You can see that the plate texture itself is really impressive and detailed, but everything covered with frost/snow looks incredibly low resolution when compared the the textures underneath.
He is right, it does. I don't have it on this PC but from that same video you can see the Wild Hunt without the frost effect and their armor looks really nice. If someone can crop that screen that'd be cool.
Man, as nice as this is I'm hoping there'll be at least a reference or two to the Witcher 1 theme. I really fucking dug that and nothing ties a series together like a consistent leitmotif.
I can't find any good screenshots from the video that display it but I found this one. There's no way the armor will look like the one posted in, >>274905783
Pick one, the game looks trash. Witcher 1 and 2 were utter garbage, both gave the illusion of choice (with 2 sort of following up on it with Chapter 2 being completely different) but ulitmately fell flat.
>Shit dragon fight
>MUH TITS (only reason /v/irgins like it)
>Developers favoring console (as usual)
>Open world that looks bland and kills the essence of the first two games
>Can't bone Ciri
>Probably be shittily optimized
Why would anyone want this over the god tier MGSV?
>Why would anyone want this over the god tier MGSV?
It already got voted as the most anticipated game of 2014 in one of the few categories that even mattered, the ones voted by fans and not faggot shills.
>tfw I can no longer afford a new rig or upgrade
>tfw going to change my preorder from PC to PS4 today.
I'm still mega excited for it though
Yeah, that textire streching clearly the fault of youtube compression
guys are you stupid, retarded, blind or just pretending?
The problem is the frost decals being extremely low res, it's not the overall textures. Notice how the textures are great and detailed where there's no snow/frost.
>most defensive cunts
You mean, you give false "arguments" in the hope of causing a shitstorm and then call people defensive if they call you a retard?
Or do you type out a well thought argument of why you think the game isn't good and get called a troll?
Because the last part never happens. It's often the absence of decent argumentation why you get called a retard.
You obviously don't know anything about mesh.
Yen. She may be a bitch, but at least she isn't a cowardly hypocrite, who was hiding under Philippas skirt when her friend needed her most.
I hope there is a Triss in a shallow grave ending. Still blame her for one of the witchers death.
Nice strawman there pal, I've never bought an Ass Creed game in my life while you're sitting there with the whole damn collection bitching about Unity because Ubisoft finally broke your heart.
>nitpick the smallest things just to cry about something on the internet like a bitch
>it reveals what little he knows about sculpting and textures despite complaining about it
The most homoerotic, maybe. Mechanically it was garbage and storywise it featured a ridiculous-looking and incredibly shitty character who MGS4 shoehorned as the "final boss" of the franchise because it was never meant to go past 3.
Kojima loves his bullshots and cut content. Expect half of the actual game to be missing as usual.
>>Developers favoring console (as usual)
MGSV is a console game.
>>Open world that looks bland and kills the essence of the first two games
I don't even need to state the irony here.
>>Can't bone Ciri
Can't bone anyone in MGS.
>>Probably be shittily optimized
Nice baseless speculation shitlord.
"MUH GOD TIER MGSV"
"LE STANDING xD"
Yeah MGSV faggots are totally objective and reasonable.
mechanically is was perfect, unless it was too
hardfor you? also rex v ray fight. also old snake in general has more character than naked ever did in 3. ill admit the tps gameplay was shit and not mgs at all, but gameplay has never been the series strong point.
Well, Kojima didn't want to do 4 and its shittiness is a direct result of that, but even if that weren't the case, it's still the worst game in the franchise. With all the casualization and watering down going into V I can't see why you'd expect anything better.
>gameplay has never been the series strong point.
I hope there aren't people who really play MGS for the story. You people are the worst.
Mechanically it was literally piss easy button mashing QTE garbage.
This is what you and your ilk are glorifying as the "best fight ever." Embarrassing.
I'm pretty hyped to play. I'm trying to stay in the dark about the game until it releases and I can experience it first hand.
>Triss wasn't even
That's exactly the reason. Remember that scene, when she told witchers that it's important to fight with Nilfgaard no matter who you are? All this patriotic bullshit, and then when there was the most important battle, one of the witchers was there, and she was not. Because Philippa told her so.
> the thumbnail kinda makes geralt look like Bill Clinton
Ah fair enough, she only used the order to cover her own fear of another sodden hill which is kind of understandable plus she redeemed herself in Rivia to me. Yenn is still first choice though.
once again, the textures on armors without stupid frost effect are very detailed
So, this is the fabled power of Youtube?
Honestly, I am more worried about actually being able to run the fucking thing on my PC.
These threads are ridiculous.
Eredin before he gets of the horse. Something went wrong with texture loading or something
And an example of Witcher 2 texture load failure
Also, when I refer to "Something went wrong" I mean in this shot >>274906743
>2nd playable character
>yfw Yennefer is playable
It would make sense. Get the player attached to her
Exactly and that brilliantly highlights how retarded SJWs are. They fail to see the subtext of social justice within the story (flaming rose vs elves) and instead whine because Geralt isn't a transgendered lesbian.
I personally think they fucking blew it with showing Ciri off before the release.
I mean, I love the fact she's in, but it would have million times more impact if you found out while playing.
Only because Geralt had a flashback about Yen and Ciri and asked Triss to tell him about them.
If he hadn't brought it up, I assume she would've never told him that Yen was missing.
>b-b-but I'll help you find Yen now that you know about her!
>Please don't leave me
Triss should really consider finding another guy to obsess about. The chances that Geralt will even settle down and be a family man with ANY woman are laughable. He wasn't safe doing that shit in literal paradise.
I've told Triss to get lost in the first game, somehow started second one by fucking her in military tent, so I guess she's a hard learner, and I had to repeat that she should gtfo. Given that I dont see many possibilities for our happy future in the third game, but nothing is set yet, I'm very curious of how the devs will handle that story.
We've gone from
to that shit in your image, and people have the audacity to claim there's no downgrade.
Witcherfags as bad is biodrones confirmed
Pre-ordered CE day zero
$150 that could have been spent on upgrading my PC or food will instead be spent on a polystone statue of Geralt killing the fuck out of a griffon
i doubt it will be poorly optimized, the minimum system req are lower compared to cisqision has. and its graphics is shittier than w3.
and this is cdpr were talking about. you silly goose.
>People complain about quality downgrades
>CDPR decides to polish (heh) the shit out of their game, so no one complains ever about downgrades.
How based can they be?
>The Witcher 3: "No more delays," dev promises
this is honestly From Soft tier bullshit
Would you rather have them go back on that word, or release a game that isn't ready?
The problem here isn't that they delayed it, it's that they something stupid like that in the first place. They shouldn't have made a promise that they couldn't keep.
>game is delayed to May
Fuck yes, this means I got more time to save up for my new PC.
A delayed game is eventually good, etc.
>how can we take their word on the quality of the game?
Well you shouldn't be doing that in the first place, but the situations are completely different. They aren't being deceptive, they're just miscalculating the time they need for the project.
I know that better late than buggy, but.. well, shit.
Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game. We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe.
The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.
With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.
We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust.
Thank you for the all support you show us on a daily basis. We truly do appreciate it. It has fueled us in our passion since the start and will continue to do so.
The Board of CD PROJEKT SA
You guys are forgetting the part in the first game where amnesiac Geralt asked her to tell him of his past and she said it was a bad idea because his new(ish) personality would potentially build itself around what she thought of and remembered about Geralt. She wanted him to remember on his own, with her providing answers about specific things he remembers so that he can develop a new personality or resume his old one based on his own choices.
It's less "hurf durf Triss is a cunt for not overloading you with exposition in the first game when she met you" and more "she wanted you to find out for yourself naturally and she will provide info about specific things you ask her". In case you faggots forgot she never lied to Geralt about things he actually asked about, it's why she was fine telling him about Yenn and Ciri when he started to remember them.
