>Hidetaka Miyazaki: Sorry but Bloodborne held back by PS4 technical limitations
>Sony Online Entertainment: PS4's CPU a bottleneck
>Slightly Mad Studios: PS4 CPU slower than single PC cores
This is the most powerful gaming console OF ALL TIME at the first year of it's release... And we've already hit the technical limit. Nine more years of this folks, nine very sad years.
CPU was always going to be shit. No amount of SUPERCHARGED 8GB GDDR5 OF RAM POWER was going to make that 2009 netbook/low-end laptop go any faster. The only saving grace was the mid range laptop GPU in there, but even on release it was outdated by around three generations on PC.
This will only get worse over time.
This is the plan, force the devs to use console specific work around to squeeze every last ounce of power, that way porting is harder and it's easier to force AA and AAA exclusives.
>FROM is constantly known for having games with FPS drops and generally shitty optimization
>blames it on the software
I seriously can't tell if OP is trolling, joking, or is actually serious. This website has fucked me up.
Uncharted had already been downscaled from the original pre-rendered E3 trailer. Just like Deepdown and pic related has.
Can't believe than console hardware is shit and was out of date at release? how is that unbelievable, or are you just a recent migrant from neogaff?
PS4 is fucked. Say what you want about Nintendo, but at least they know how to actually balance out their console during development, unlike Sony.
>PS3 CPU is a beast
>GPU is shit
>RAM is shit
>PS4 GPU is pretty good
>CPU absolute shit
Sony basically built a machine on purpose that can't even handle that graphics they want to target for it. They knew it couldn't, but still looked at this design and thought, yeah that's great. If gamers were gonna buy this shit system anyway, they should have just increased the CPU strength and raised the price to match the Xbone. It still would have had the desired effect of devaluing Xbox and it still would have sold in droves. Sony is retarded.
The technical limitations are the ps4's shit hardware, how fucking dense are you?
>I'm okay with playing 9 years of inferior games because I hate how other people enjoy video games on another platform
Fucking kill yourself retard
It looks better than any shit upcoming for PC. How buttpained you can be still PC babby?
Sony can't go back now. They pretended their shit was cutting edge. Only thing left now is trying to constantly repeat how 15-25 fps is cinematic and good in order to increase graphical settings.
Because then people would cry about 720p in 2014, which is a legit concern since people have been gaming at that resolution for like 15 years.
If Sony and Microsoft aren't willing to eat the costs and put out machines that can actually push the envelope, or if they aren't willing to tell devs to fuck off if they don't adhere to progress, then they might as well just give up and become like Nintendo instead of stagnating the market.
>MFW the PS4 has so few games that console plebs are actually excited for this shitfest of muddy textures and top-hats
People complain about 30fps too it's the same shit, but one benefits the company image and one benefits the people who play games. I'd still play Bloodborne if it was 60fps 900p.
>Previous consoles have games with bad visuals and bad performance.
>"B-b-but developers haven't gotten used to the consoles yet!"
>Current consoles with PC architecture have games with bad visuals
>No excuses anymore.- This is as good as it gets.
That's the saddest thing about this. Nintendo knows it's all about the game mechanics and not the graphics, Microsoft has gone with the multi-media experience but Sony has gone full retarded trying to market their outdated, cheap and nasty screen-less netbook as a SUPERCHARGED PC. Anyone with half a brain would have seen through this bullshit, except for your retarded Sonygger though.
I love how PCfats always say shit like "consoles have shit CPUs and GPUs."
You've seen the shit devs pulled off with the 360 and PS3. Just give devs times to learn how to optimize their games.
It's okay, poor PC optimization will make it better than PC anyways.
>You've seen the shit devs pulled off with the 360 and PS3.
Yea, silky smooth 20 FPS with dips down to 0 FPS.
Stop posting anon.
Unlike last time, these consoles aren't using any kind of exotic hardware that needs figuring out. They will be able to max this out by 2015 unless they want to go back to sub-720p and 15fps.
CPU specs literally don't matter unless you're running SLI/CF, GPU specs are fine, the GTX 560 is a mid-range GPU from 3 years ago.
And that ~$450 build passes the minimum specs and would outperform the PS4 in the game.
This is the same shit dev that couldnt make pc dark souls work and some guy fixed their buggy shit in 15 mins after release. They took weeks to patch it to work right. Incompetent nips should just be bombed again to remind them we dont like thwir shit.
>developers can't optimize for shit
>blame the hardware
FROM has been known at being shit at optimizing their games and that first article indicates that that is exactly what is happening.
Mustard here--look at this, many PC devs have ridiculous recommendations, because they'd much rather put out bloated pieces of shit, instead of practicing fines when developing, and approaching development with the philosophy that a minimalist approach is the best (which is actually true, especially when it comes to programming and developing).
Stop supporting this idea that we need to keep reaching for the stars, because developers will never maximize their projects for what they've got. I mean, consider what Nintendo accomplished with four fucking megabytes of RAM, with their first party games. I don't think hardware should be extremely limited, like the Wii U, but there should be some bottlenecks to incentivize more efficient development.
>the only thing I need in my games is graphics
>Nine more years
Do you realize not even the PS3 is 9 years old yet.
There is nothing stopping sony from releasing a PS5 in the next few years.
As a matter of fact, since the chips are made and continuously developed by AMD, independently from sony's business decisions. It's became easier and cheaper than ever to release consoles. On top of that, it's very likely they'll just keep using the same OS and same APU architecture, making the process even cheaper and smoother.
If I could I would bet real good money that we'll be hearing about the next Playstation home console in the next 2~3 year max.
BTW, same thing applies to the Xbone. The only console I can see get a major change in vision with it's successor is the WiiU.
Even after all these years I still find hilarious as fuck at how people talk about DaS being "WORST PORT EVER A RANDOM GUY FROM THE INTERNET FIXED EVERYTHING!"
When the only shit he did was unlocking the 30 fps/720p limit. That's.Fucking.It. Which From and even Durante himself said it would cause problems since it was at 30fps how all the game and animations were done.
To be honest, the simple fact those games can even run on 8 year old hardware is a hell of an accomplishment.
Try running FC4 on a PC with 256 MB RAM, a 3GHz core2duo and 7800GT/HD3850 video card with 256MB VRAM.
You can't. I doubt you can even run smoothly the any version of windows more advanced than XP.
I wouldn't exactly call low settings at sub-720p at 10-25 FPS "running" anon.
> nips in charge of game programming
Just look at hentai games from illusion, teatime, real, etc.
Just look at how shit JRPGs look on the PS3. Compile Hearts games literally look like they're from the Gamecube
Actually, a 360/PS3 is more like a 3 GHz tri-core with an 8600 GT (Really, HD 3850? Do you even know shit about PC hardware?) with 256MB VRAM.
You can't really compare them to PCs from 2005, since GPUs back then didn't have unified shaders.
>consoles of the future will have to be modular
>steam machines are actually the future direction
It's fucked up, but you know this is true. The only way the major companies can compete is buy focusing on pre-approved hardware, in conjunction with major providers, and honing in on acquiring more unique IPs.
Yes, they could.
But launching a game and playing a game are 2 different things.
Honestly, I'd rather have 60fps over 1080p any day, because a game running at any resolution at 60fps still looks presentable compared to a 1080p game struggling and choking to remain above 20fps.
>make PS4 with the best graphic capabilities of any console
>still cant handle more than 30fps
literally what was the point of making the PS4 then?
>Ignoring Konami, Capcom, Sony Japan Studio, Nintendo, Square Enix and Level 5
Too be fair those Japanese companies you mentioned are much smaller than your average western(or even Japanese) publisher, and those niche anime/japanese games have a much smaller user bases. They don't really have the resources to optimize little shit on their proprietary engines, and they don't really need either because the artstyle doesn't require it. Ideally they should buy licences for 3rd party engines, but that is a business decision, not programming one.
Japanese programming/software industry is definitely behind "the west"(mostly American). But when it comes to gaming(and embedded) they are not really that behind.
>adding that "creep" in there for absolutely no reason
Yeah, dude was giving off pretty rapey vibes. I was crying and throwing up while typing this because I just didn't know if it was going to be safe to post it, but I don't want other women to be at risk because nobody is speaking out about him. I'm not saying it's all his fault. It's not. Dude's not well, he needs help. But that doesn't mean he can victimize others. Rape and sexual assault is never okay. Approaching a woman when she feels uncomfortable because of you is not okay. Just generally being a rapey creep because you think people will be too scared to come forward is not okay.
I've said my piece.
> Konami, Capcom, Sony Japan Studio, Nintendo, Square Enix and Level 5
What you did is nitpicking. They're the exception, not the rule. Those are the only good jap devs. Everything else is complete shit when it comes to performance and graphics or just plain average like ATLUS
>actually read the links OP posted
>they have nothing to do with the claims
Planetside guy has a point but he also mentiones that the game itself uses a way too much of CPU
good thread guys
>8600 GT (Really, HD 3850? Do you even know shit about PC hardware?)
More than you believe, but differently from you I'm not autistic.
I'm not going to remember benchmark of 10 year old GPUs and I don't give a flying fuck.
>You can't really compare them to PCs from 2005, since GPUs back then didn't have unified shaders.
You confirmed my point.
>sony sacrifice quality to drop the price as much as possible
>still losing with each console sold
>even microsoft didn't full retard it up with their Christopher reeves controller
>Even microsoft made money
>sony sacrifice framerate to get graphics kiddies
>Sacrifice many elements of games and console for marketing reasons
> for the gamer
I'm glad i switched from consoles fully this gen, i mean microsoft had some good ideas with their whole game sharing and supporting devs by letting them get a share of pre-owneds but other parts of their model were fucked yet sony seem to of just relied on the microsoft hate bandwagon and cult like support to sell.
>you will never have this feeling again
>More than you believe, but differently from you I'm not autistic.
I can see that English is also not your first language, which doesn't surprise me.
And just so you know, the HD 3850 is not only much more powerful than the 360/PS3, it's also about 2 years younger, releasing in late 2007/early 2008.
>You confirmed my point.
What was your point?
I can concede that the 360 was ahead of its time, but by the time the PS3 released both consoles were stomped into the mud by the 8000 series.
Hell, the 8800 GTS, when paired with a decent CPU, performs nearly as well as the PS4 in some games.
This doens't apply to this generation.
x86 architecture is the most common and best known there is. There is 0 to really learn this time. They can offload more stuff to GPGPU in the future when they git gud, but this will only really be singular simulation type stuff, not controlling lots of variable thing.
Having a shit CPU was a bad, bad fucking idea.
Funnily enough though, such a shitty CPU means that emulation of PS4 and Xbone might actually be easier than PS3 emulation since it would be mostly GPU bound.
>mfw my old piece of shit PC from years ago is STILL more powerful than the most powerful console of all time
A-A-At least I'll never have to upgrade for the next 9 years, right? ._.
