I think it's a good time for us to pay our respects to a fallen comrade.
I have actually never known there was a difference between the words. This day just keeps getting worse and worse
If I buy a used Dreamcast, what games and accessories should I get for it?
>tfw used to play dreamcast at my best friend''s house in middle school every now and then
Pretty weird for a dead console to still receive new games in the year 2014, isn't it?
A VMU (which you'll need to save anyway), the headset and Seaman, the samba de amigo maraccas with the game, the fishing rod with Sega Bass Fishing and Soul Calibur (it works for both)
As for games it's pretty fucking obvious, your usuals are JSR, Daytona 2001, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi etc...
It might have been a failure but you gotta give Sega props for going all out. It was all or nothing and they fucking went for it with weird shit like Shenmue, Seaman and that RPG about the death of the Dreamcast.
It was one of the factors. Another was EA not puttting anything out on it.
God fucking damn anon, sitting here having some drinks and thinking of the dreamcast brought on some major nostalgia feels.
On another note, sega could of been on top of the world had they made a few better decisions. Could of been a 4 way console war to this day.
Probably, I feel empty knowing that both arcades and Sega will never make a big comeback.
>tfw found out my uncle used to own several arcades back in the 80s and 90s before selling them off
It might have been 3 way. if sega was still in then maybe Microsoft wouldn't have tried since they thought it would be too crowded.
It was a factor since Sega did thrive on arcades and still does in japan
I also am drinking and getting nostalgic which is why I felt the need to make the post. Shall we have a cheers moment for our beloved Dreamcast?
>largest amount of high rated exclusives of any console the last gen
>free online while it lasted
>easy to homebrew and connected data storage to
>lots of emulators available
>creative input methods spurred innovative developments in genres like sports, and even revived the lightgun genre briefly
Quite literally the only arguments against it are MUH GRAFICS and MUTURR GAEMS 4 MUTURR GAEMURS LIEK ME.
The Wii had some fucking stupendous games. Only just getting my teeth into the catalogue now like but there's a lot I've missed out on, and I've been having a great time catching up with it.
Well if you're well versed in it you've probably already played what I'm going to recommend but I've been enjoying the fuck out of the Sin & Punishment sequel, the Mario Galaxy games, Xenoblade, No More Heroes, Skyward Sword (everyone says it's shit but I quite like it), Mad World, DKC and the Resi Chronicles games. Oh! And the Metroid Prime Trilogy.
As a late adopter of a Dreamcast, I can tell you that even with every game being free there is still no reason to own this console. try /vr/
No good games on the Wii. No good games on the Gamecube either besides Resident Evil 4
There's tons of good games on the Wii if you have interest in games beyond the usual mainstream action you can get on any other platform.
>Dead Space: Extraction, Ghost Squad, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011, The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return and The House Of The Dead: Overkill for rail shooters alone
>Red Steel 2
>Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition
>Super Smash Bros. Brawl
>Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars
>Grand Slam Tennis best tennis game yet
>Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 best golfing game yet
>Rapala Pro Bass Fishing probably best fishing game yet
And the GC too has a solid exclusive library, including titles like Rogue Leader and F-Zero GX.
How is the Wiimote not an actual controller? Granted the motion controls weren't very accurate in the beginning, but then again it was a pioneer mechanic and they later fixed it with the Motion Plus. And what other controller in video game history can you just clip shells onto to turn it into anything from a sword or tennis racket to a gun, racing wheel or fishing rod?
Yes actually. And Shenmue might still be a bit clunky but show me a more advanced example of a legit living breathing world than Shenmue. Not even the most up to date open world games can manage that level of life.
Not even GTA can beat a game in open world realism where the weather changes according to real world meteorological records of the particular date, and all NPCs follow a daily routine including going to work and visiting shops and restaurants.
power stone will be forever missed
rest in pisss, pour out liqui for the falen homie
Phantasy Star Online, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Soul Calibur, Mobile Suit Gundam Federation vs Zeon, and Sonic Adventure 2 are the ones I play the most. I also have Seaman, but no mic. And I lost my A/V cables in the last move, so all I have is S-video.
There was no form of copy protection on the Dreamcast AT ALL. You could literally stick burned CDs and they would work. Kind of a rookie mistake, but if I recall right this was about the time when CDRs started becoming real popular.
