I need fun 2D sidescroller action games. Name me those you know and want to recommend.
Better yet if you include picture and videos.
Been playing Hagane today. It's like 16bits Ninja Gaiden.
We must be patient. Things are looking good.
It's called Sorcerland, it's like Rockman Zero but way easier and linear.
How about Gunhound EX? Runs perfectly in PPSSPP.
>the last addition
>no playable tittywitch
what the fuck, why
>mfw Assault Suits Valken's sequel is a Front Mission clone instead of a balls to the wall awesome sidescrolling robot action game
An actual technical reason being that the program being used to make the game only supports up to five playable characters.
I would assume the cow sisters get around this by being the same character in the code just with a different weapon, like how Rabina's Sorcerer Cane works.
I'm playing the fourth SFC one atm. It's pretty fun.
At least there's a Front Mission spinoff that plays more like Valken.
2, 3, and 4 are untranslated. I hear the lack of progress being made is because they use an odd compression method. 2 is completely playable without being able to read, 3 requires Japanese knowledge or the use of a guide, and 4 is mostly playable without knowing Japanese.
here's the latest version
Metal Slug 1,X and 3
Contra: Hard Corps
Contra: Shattered Soldier
Rocket Knight Adventures
Akumajo Dracula X - Chi no Rondo
Just to name a few.
I still wonder what exactly did fly in the heads of the people doing the official translation when picking the names when doing the localization.
Why Dr. Ying & Dr. Yang when Goemon's characters look japanese as fuck?
Yeah, I have no idea. I guess they're easier to pronounce than Goemon and Ebisumaru, but they chose fucking Chinese names.
Also for SNES I recommend Magical Pop'n. The playable character is very cute and the game is fun to play in general. Here's some music.
>Metal Slug X
I recommend Metal Slug 1 and 2 for the Neo Geo CD (can be emulated) mostly because they include the Combat School mode completely translated. 2 suffers from severe slowdowns in that version though, but 1 runs flawlessly and it's the possible version to play.
Magic Sword is ballin
Don't remind me.
Also known as Ninja Five-O. One of the best, most underrated games the GBA has to offer.
Think Bionic Commando meets Ninja Gaiden.
It was? I remember Gunhound first being released on PC (via a shitty service like amazon.jp or something at full price), then updated as EX in the pc version after being launched on PSP.
I hope it sold fine, but seeiing as how Dracue isn't making another game as far i as know...
>so many games
YES, YES! I already got this week fixed for sure.
Keep them coming please.
well i'm assuming it'll be kicked up a notch in the full game, maybe with more diverse enemies and tougher levels
and if it aint, then i guess i wont buy it
oh and i just noticed that says 2012, so it might even be out for all i know
The cow sisters haven't been implemented as playable characters yet i believe, but they'll be.
So far you can play as a blue cat, a red rabbit and a kunoichi kitsune.
Also, you can buy the game for like 90 cents at Dlsite and you'll get the updates as soon as they get finished. If you got PayPal you're set.
Some NES games
Batman by Sunsoft
The Umihara Kawase series is my favorite platformer series, so I would recommend trying them out. They are quite difficult, but very fun. The DS port of the first two games is the best package, and there is one on the 3DS eShop called Yumi's Odd Odyssey in America.
Its out. Its fun and plays well, but its quite short. Like an hour short. Multiple characters to play as and the price even it out a fair bit.
There's a second game in the works.
Musashi Ganryuuki is quite satisfying (but you're going to hate Stage 3 if you're trying to 1CC it).
It's more traditional and in keeping with the arcade/nes games, but yeah. Overhead sections are no fun and it has too much slowdown for my tastes.
Shame about Contra 4 as well, if not for the boarder on the DS screen causing too many unfair deaths due to invisible bullets, It would have been a modern classic.
As long as the characters are cute and not obnoxious, everything's fine.
It's a great game, though not the best in the series due to >>275661231
You can unlock the nes versions of Contra and Super C trough challenge mode, a nice bonus, but you might want to emulate them on a bigger screen.
Definitely get it for cheep.
I played the first Umihara Kawase but honestly i don't quite get the hype. I mean, it sure is a fun niche game, but i feel like it gets too much praise.
Maybe /vr/ is full of tomboy lovers or something.
>tfw Cave is pretty much dead on the water but still refuses to launch its games on Steam and roll on dosh
I seriously hope they get to it one day.
I really like how much freedom of movement the player is given. You can pretty much complete levels however you want if you're good enough.
I fucking wish! It's done by Sorcerland's developer and posted on his blog
he also did some risque pictures so i wouldn't recommend checking it at work unless you're begging for a promotion.
Saturn got the better version, Assault Suits Leynos II
Yes. And it adds some flavor i'd say.
I played it but absolutely HATED that fucking oil convoy escort mission on stage 3 or so. Shit blowing up every time because the game awards you weaponry based on score so you gotta score big in the first stages.
The developer is kind of a degenerate himself, but the game is pretty fun and relaxed until later stages.
I downloaded at first for its cute and colorful aesthetic but kept playing because it was a nice game and to be honest there are no longer many games like this. Shit, backed MN9 and feel depressed as hell and back when i played the beta.
Castlevania: Dracula X is a must play for me.
In b4 Rondo of Blood elitists
Can't speak about Super Time Force Ultra but I feel the developers both Broforce and Mercenary Kings don't really "get" what made games like Metal Slug and Contra so fun, and are caught between wanting to please fans of such retro games while appealing to the modern "indie" aficionado.
OP, you should check out:
Volgarr the Viking (Combination of Castlevania, G&G, and Rastan. Great level design and mechanics, some really nice sprite work.)
Gigantic Army (Basically a clone of Cybernator\Assault Suits Valken. But a damn good one. On steam.)
Treasure Adventure Game ( Kickass Metroidvania- lots of people describe it as "2D Wind Waker". I really liked it. Cool music, encourages exploration, and has some really interesting level design)
Check out Gigantic Army. Gunhound is also cool.. but not as good.
I was disappointed by it tbh.
Too much flash, too little substance. You could basically just Dash right + keep all fire buttons pressed to win every stage.
Sure looked sweet, but that's about it.
GA was way more fun.
The dev must have a furry porn collection as big as anyone at Cyber Connect 2, but i like how he kept the game overall worksafe. I enjoy the teasing.
GA is better, if you haven't played it yet.
Ah, yes. Front Mission Gun Hazard.
A relaxed Valken type game until the final boss which rapes your shit.
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
I looked at image first and was like what the fuck is that Cybernator.
That shit is probably my GOTYAY for SNES games, I play through it at least once a year.
Buying the shit out of this right now. Blessed anons, you are the reasons I come to /v/.
Last time i checked they announced a Naruto game for PS4.
I really wish more games used cellshading as well as CC2, they're fucking wizards at it.
That aside, they don't even hide their powerlevel anymore.
Hope you like it
Might be a bit bland yeah, but eh. I like the drab aesthetic.
>Think about adding Alien Soldier to my collection
>see eBay's prices
Feels good having my copy of Tail Concerto. I'll never sell it.
Man, I really would like to love Freedom Planet, but in between the "original character do not steal" fur faggotry and "muh lore" story and voice acting, it just isn't appealing enough to run with the classics. They got too much of modern Sonic meshed into their classic Sonic cake.
Not that much i think. The in-game character designs tries to resemble the opening's.
But yeah, Solatorobo characters were much more stylized and detailed despite the NDS.
>If you want a Sega Genesis Era platformer: Freedom Planet
nope. it tries to take a lot from sega genesis games but fails to pull it off as well, ending up being a meh experience as a whole. it actually made me want to play the games it was inspired from more than FP
>love how the third playable character looks
>finally get to play with her
>she's slow and her gimmick is annoying
If you want cutesy game in the same Vein as SorcerWorld (without the Lewd), Try these:
Klonoa 2 (if you stomach the Plot)
Any of the Kirby Games, especially SuperStar Ultra.
Which one, the GOAT TG-16/PC Engine
and not really 16-bitversion
questionably 16-bitAtari Lynx games?
The subpar SNES collection?
The 16-bit custom hardware arcade original?
Or the unreleased Sega Megadrive/Genesis Beta?
Or you could just play metal warriors and get best.
This game was the shit to play at arcades with a friend.
chrome doesnt scan it it just sees an exe from non-trusted source.
i DL sooo many DLsite games and 1 in 5 forces me to use IE or turn off malware protection on chrome.
>You will never drink milk right from a cowgirls tits
>you will never cuddle with her
>you will never marry her
>you will never have a happy family with her
In America, everyon's pissed off.
Popful Mail's designs look 90s as fuck. They even got the mandatory dude with green hair.
Does anyone have a resource extractor the engine this game is made on?
I have seen the picture and sprite dumps but I can't find the tool for the life of me. I have an entire library of games on this engine IIRC and want to dump a whole bunch of ero shit.
NO. The controls work poorly and the framerate is fucked.
Play the arcade versions, the Neo Geo CD version of the first game or just get the anthology for PS2, it's the less shitty compilation. Or just buy the games on Steam or whenever you like.
holy shit thanks.
I fucking hated their new animation system.
Do you have any other popular jap tools for converting/decompiling/extracting?
only thing I have is WolfRPG and RPGmaker.
>Fuck yes a cowgirl in a videog-
Kirby Super Star is comfy, but too easy.
Only one of the cow sisters has a dick, the other is purely female.
>cowra (female symbol)
>cattla (hermaphrodite symbol)
when exactly people started to accept hormone abominations like a good and mundane thing? because outside strictly fap-contextual scenarios they fucking aren't
buy the game it's less than a dollar, the dev said on his pixiv he would make SL2 if Westerns supported it, he was shocked people were even dling it to begin with but hurt when he saw it was free
The NES versions of the games run at a better framerate, but the SNES trilogy looks slightly more polished.
You can also watch a review of the first game by the time travelling cuck
>implying it isn't the best 2D Sonic game
It's the best selling game of the english Dlsite website.
91 downloads so far is great.
Meanwhile japanese Dlsite got 338 downloads, but you can be sure some of them must have been from westerners too.
The fuck is wrong with you?
I love every once a while, some game becomes the best selling game dlsite seemingly because someone posted about it on 4chan. It's obviously not the case, but it's funny to think of it.
The futa sister is Cattla, the female one is Cowra (and wears a fuckhuge axe).
And as usual, the american version (cybernator) got butchered by anime haters.
Could be worse though, did you know the european version of Contra Hard Corps has robots because of MUH VIOLENCE? (it's called Probotector)
I'm looking forward to the opportunity either way.
dat JP/EU soundtrack
dat US soundtrack
I really doubt anyone on /v/ hasn't played this already, but just in case.
The Valis series for PC Engine CD are rad
What the fuck? How could nobady have mentioned Fortune Summoners yet?
Ghost Sweeper Mikami is okay, even more so if you got a 90's boner.
Okinu best girl
>mfw most self-proclaimed "gamers" nowadays probably can't finish picture related
>fapping to disgusting hatchet wound bearers
>you're now downloading it manually
Sorry, allow me to ellaborate, even when in full screen the game looks like blurry pudding
>featuring cute girls
Bunny Must Die
that Yume Nikki fan game
I feel that Nintendo games today are much easier [...], games were much more difficult and therefore gamers really enjoyed them so they continued to buy Nintendo games and systems. Do you feel the same way?
Satoru Iwata (president): I actually agree with your assessment. However, since you are speaking as a stockholder, you should agree with our strategy after you hear about the tests we have conducted.
It may come as a shock to some of you that most gamers today can not finish the original Super Mario Brothers game on the Famicom. We have conducted this test over the past few years to see how difficult we should make our games and have found that the number of people unable to finish the first level is steadily increasing.
This year, around 90 percent of the test participants were unable to complete the first level of Super Mario Brothers. We did not assist them in any way except by providing the exact same instruction manual we used back then. Many of them did not read it and the few that did stopped after the first page which did not cover any of the game mechanics.
We watched the replay videos of how the gamers performed and saw that many did not understand simple concepts like bottomless pits. Around 70 percent died to the first Goomba. Another 50 percent died twice. Many thought the coins were enemies and tried to avoid them. Also, most of them did not use the run button. There were many other depressing things we noted but I can not remember them at the moment.
Furthermore, we asked for suggestions on how to improve the game. A majority of them wanted the game to be easier and they suggested many ways to do this. Some of them wanted a mandatory tutorial while others wanted more ways to kill things besides jumping on them. We explained that Mario could shoot fire balls with the Fire Flower power-up, but then they wanted Mario to start with more weapons like a sword or a gun.
Some of the people seemed to be unaware that this was an actual old game that existed as they asked if the retro-style graphics were supposed to be a throwback to old Nintendo games. Some missed the point of the questionnaire completely and said that the graphics and music were terrible and needed to be improved in order for the game to sell. They also wanted a deeper storyline and voice acting.
So, as a stockholder, you should be relieved to know that our games are easier in order to attract a wider audience. As a gamer, you might feel a little sad, and you should be. It is quite sad.
>p4rgaming is satire
Haven't heard about that site. Just 1st result in search engine. However this is heavily bucked up other sites
I have a Dualshock 2 connected via a Chinese USB adapter. I works fine, but it treats d-pad as generic buttons rather than directional buttons.
So unless a game allows remapping or I map via x360ce, I'm forced to use left analog for directions.
Mega Man 2
>Oboro will never squat you for reps
>The personal small horse has a bulge too
>A game where I can play as literal cowtits with a giant axe
My dick can't be any harder.
>You wanted your son to become a proud and manly warrior
>he became a sissy trap and probably gets pounded in the ass every night
