I work with the level design department though my specific job description allows me to stay up to date with most of the happenings at the company. I'm posting here to vent. I've been with the industry for just under a decade and I've never had to deal with as intrusive and disrespectful a publisher as Microsoft.
First off, we knew the MCC needed additional playtesting when all the components were brought together but we didn't know how badly it would turn out at launch. When we got all the outsourced components in we told Microsoft we wanted to release the game in early 2015 but they were adamant about releasing the game in November. So yes, we expected a buggy mess but our hands were tied.
When we saw just how bad the game was performing, Frank had everybody come to a staff meeting where he basically said we would put (almost) everything on hold until this thing was fixed, and that's what we have more or less been doing.
Last week Microsoft started letting on that they want us to move on from the project and focus more on halo 5. Frank's response was pretty straight forward. We needed more time.
Now yesterday they sent some suit down here to have a private meeting with Frank and Bonnie Ross. I don't know what happened in the meeting but Frank has been pissed since.
If you've been playing the MCC lately, you know that there is still work to be done. Before the MCC even went gold we asked M$ what our chances of delaying halo 5 to 2016 are and they were adamant that it be released before black Friday 2015.
This is fucking retarded. I'm not going to say Halo 5 is going to be a buggy mess because unlike the MCC it's mostly in house but still, right now we basically have 2 options: drop MCC updates and focus entirely on Guardians or keep a small team on the MCC and risk releasing Guardians in a state I wouldn't want to put my name on.
So you know what? Fuck it. Ask away. I'll answer as much as I can.
Is arby playable?
How much of the game is played by chief?
Serious question now.
You say you've been working in vidya for a decade now.
Did you expect the vidya industry to be like this?
What keeps you going?
What proves me you're not full of shit?
The Arbiter is not a playable character.
There was a plan to make him the second player during Locke's missions like in Halo 3 but seeing as chief was alone it just felt weird that we didn't have a story mission for two chiefs but had one for Locke's partner, so that was scrapped.
He is in the game though and plays a prominent role.
Locke and chief get equal playtime until the latter fourth of the game when chief kinda takes over.
your company has single handedly killed one of the better multiplayer games from my childhood. do tell me, will you be moving on the counter strike and strategy games next? i'm just wondering so i know when the fuck to get out of the genera and never look back again in fear of your fucking worthless pieces of shit ruining something else i love. I hope Microsoft shits all over your bottom of the barrel ass company.
I always heard horror stories about Microsoft when I worked with treyarch under Activision.
Activision btw is not a kind publisher but they are worlds better than M$.
And idk you're just gunna have to trust me, or don't idk, I'm just pissed. No way I'm putting something here that could cost me my job.
1 post proof
2 Whats it like working for 343, microshitters asside?
3 what would you rather be working on?
4 fold or scrunch?
1. See >>276161090
2. 343 as a company is fine. I like most of the people here and pretty much everyone here loves halo so that's good. There is considerable debate among us however as to which direction the series needs to go in.
3. There is no series I'd rather be working on. I would love to fix sonic the hedgehog but honestly I'm not qualified for that... I don't think anyone is at this point.
>Frank had everybody come to a staff meeting where he basically said we would put (almost) everything on hold until this thing was fixed, and that's what we have more or less been doing.
>Last week Microsoft started letting on that they want us to move on from the project and focus more on halo 5. Frank's response was pretty straight forward. We needed more time.
>Now yesterday they sent some suit down here to have a private meeting with Frank and Bonnie Ross.
>random characters and wannabe details
>343 as a company is fine
>everyone here loves halo
than how the fuck did you manage to kill off a series with one game.
>i'm not qualified for that
no one is your company is qualified to program a shitty flash game let alone a triple A product
need i say morE?
I have no idea. It's described in the books pretty well but we have no rendering of it in-game if that's what you mean. His helmet gets (forcefully) removed in Guardians at one point but we don't show you his face.
I think we were with 4.
But at the same time, I've never seen halo as a series that is constant. Each game adds and subtracts many elements to the series. Our goal is to continue the evolution but we want to be ORIGINAL about it. I'm happy with where guardians is heading if that's where you are asking.
Also, ordinance is not gone, but it's gone from basic matchmaking. You can still add it in customs if you want.
why cant you guys just make a halo ass halo game instead of this future cod bullshit? also who keeps insisting that the multiplayer needs story ties? Nobody cares if spartans are shooting other spartans in space, all the story reasons do is give you an easy cop-out 'in-universe' explaination as to why we cant be elites anymore.
To be fair, I had very little to do with halo 4's multiplayer. If the maps were made in house (certain affinity did them) then I might have been more involved but even with halo 5 (guardians that is, in case you haven't figured it out we are doing the starcraft 2 thing) I'm still more connected to the campaign side of things.
If you really want to prove your real, I guess you can upload a webm or gif of a game that's already out but with wording that can't be done otherwise, like that ex-Ubisoft employee that came on here bitching about watch dogs.
Guys Gabe Newel here, I'm so mad about what happened with HATRED and the current games industry I'll answer any questions
Reggie Fils Ame is also here.
No I can't post proof because we don't want to lose our jobs.
All the xbox drones already bought it and M$ has made their money off it already so why would they give two fucks
I dont see H5 being that big, i mean look at the backlash from H4. M$ had to re-release games from 10 years ago to get the xbone to sell.
I believe you, OP. What you say matches that guy that was working on the last Banjo Kazooie before it was completely fucked over by Microshit suits.
The only question I have is if they're gonna stop being retarded and start releasing things on PC. Then I might care.
i was talking about the campaign you giant fucking faggot. who the fuck plays halo's campaing by themselves? honestly though how the fuck did you manage to make as piss poor of a story as you did. and what was with that stupid fucking cortanafu bullshit. get out of here.
There's a much stronger emphasis on gameplay in Guardians. Some of the chief levels are even borderline filler imo but they play better (again imo) than anything in Reach or 4.
I literally have nothing to do with that stuff but I really like the guardians guns. Kinda miss the iconic sniper sound but it's not a huge loss.
Chief is trying to blow up each of the halo rings. He tried to convince ONI to help him but they are interested in the scientific benefits of them. So chief is going around trying to destroy them and Locke is tracking him.
We are actually not sure if we are going to get to the ending we want (that's part of what is frusterating me) but as of now the flood will break containment at the end of guardians. Also,
Palmer is killed by Locke, who goes roague with chief at the end
>Wow, I'm so cool. I hate games that are fun
Ok fuck off we are having a halo thread no need to bash it, we get it. You like games that have Asian woman. Sorry that mingersoft thought that a blue chick would satisfy you.
There wasn't a problem. Most if it was outsourced so we just needed more time to iron out the creases once all the components were together. We didn't get that time. We still need more time.
>ignore questions about why halo 4 was so shit
>continue to stoke his own dick
you know, after alot of observation in to the problems between publisher and developer i have come to one conclusion. Video game developers are the worst kind of socially unacceptable hipster faggots. Anything you don't like about whatever they are doing, they either ignore or throw a absolute shitfit about, meanwhile the publishers who live in the real world had have to deal with problems like the whole company going under if they don't do their jobs and force these little fucking bitches to do their jobs.
>No way I'm putting something here that could cost me my job.
working with the LD department.
10y in the industry.
That should be easy to define who you are for any insider. So yeah, I wouldn't reveal any big stuff here dude.
We are not sure if it's making it in but what we have planned is the entire infinity getting raided by flood. Flood Spartans are horrifying to fight because they have all the Spartan 4 abilities.
What I don't get is why they don't give you all the time you guys need. Why do they really NEED the game out at a specific time? Are Russian mobsters going to break their legs if they don't get their payment from MS and that's why they need you to make the game by X date? Why not wait until it's done, release something that is actually good and will up consumer confidence than risk making something shitty and ruining your image, especially after how fucked MCC is.
I had a feeling it was MS, man. Fuck. Fuck them so hard. They're so stupid it hurts.
Who's idea was it to put ADS and all this other shit in, too? Might be cool for singleplayer but the multiplayer looks like ass.
What do you want me to say?
Was the multiplayer a step in the wrong direction? Yes.
Was the campaign horrible? No I don't think so. I think it could have and should have been much MUCH better and guardians will be. If the prometheans bothered then don't worry, they wont this time around. If you have some story complaint than I really don't know what to say. Sorry? All I can do is focus on Guardians.
>was the campaign horrible
>i don't think so
>THE BIGGEST FUCKING COMPLAINT ABOUT YOUR GAME IS THE SHIT TIER CAMPAIGN THAT CALL OF PAY YOUR RESPECTS WITH F PUTS TO SHAME.
>can't admit that they fucked up like every single stuck up hipster fuck game developer
i'm lost for fucking words. i hope microsoft puts boot to ass and fucking ruins your life.
>OP says 343 is fixing MCC
>MCC Developers are Sabre, Certain Affinity, Ruffian and United Front Games
>Those are the developers who have been fixing it
OP if you are going to lie try to do so convincingly.
Or try to do it where someone who's Ex-Ruffian and knows people still working on H3 and H4.
Not OP, but I work at a small video game company as an artist.
Game development companies usually need two main categories of workers - programmers and artists. There are also people like testers and management staff.
Since you are a computer engineer, you probably could take a look at programming. Find an area that suits you best and work on it. Programmers tend to specialize in a certain area of expertise - physics, AI, rendering, etc.
So you want to be a specialist in one certain area, but if necessary be able to work in others as well. Apply everywhere regardless of whether they have a vacancy at the moment. A good portfolio of work, related education and experience helps.
Halsey is playing Jul, she's not evil.
Oni on the other hand is borderline villainous and has an ace of their own that is tasked with taking out halsey and Locke if he fails/becomes sympathetic to chief.
it's Jun btw
Blue Team is also looking for chief but you won't see much of them in Guardians. The un-announced Spartan Ops/firefight minigame follows them (it is basically firefight but with a bit of story)
>first three games have a coherent story
>odst is m-muh normal humans doing the same shit as spartians m-muh humans strong
>reacharound has one of the worst campaigns i have ever played topped off with a "die" objective ending for feels
>halo press f to kill the boss
yeah nah fuck off.
I'll admit I have barely touched the multiplayer personally but I can confirm the ADS is cosmetic. It actually helps less than any of the previous halo zooms do.
The gameplay is its own beast but if I were to compare it to another halo game I'd say it reminds me of a faster Halo 3.
Also, health IS a thing, and depending on the handfuls is more or less important.
I remember hearing somewhere that only 343 are the ones left to do the work of putting the collection together. Supposedly, everyone else just had to do their separate parts and just had to hand it to 343 to merge the puzzle pieces.
Pic related as relevant as ever.
Total fucking cancer.
Halo 2 is one of the longest campaigns, it has by far the best VA, the most interesting plot and characters, the most interesting settings, etc.
Halo 3's campaign was shit. It was too short, the VA is the worst in the series, and the story wasn't as good. That last level driving the warthog on that bullshit Halo under construction is one of the worst levels in all of Halo.
>"M$ are bad for dump trucks of money!"
>Sony bought out 75% of their studios including Naughty Dog, Sucker Punch, Polyphony Digital and Psygnosis
>Notorious for throwing money around and locking entire publishers in 3rd party exclusive deals
>Neogaf in charge of making statements that apply for Sony as well
This isn't true because anyone smart enough to work at a developer of that size in virtually any important capacity wouldn't be dumb enough to risk being added to an industry blacklist over this.
Basically, if you are real, you're an idiot. There's a very real chance that this thread will be discovered and you will be fired and blacklisted.
>Black Tusk isn't new, it's Microsoft Vancouver. They just cleaned house and renamed it after Vancouver went years without finishing anything. Black Tusk is doing n admirable job at keeping that history alive.
and there goes my faith in the next Gears of War game.
>no way im posting something here that could cost me my job
Except how much time you've spent in the industry, your former employer, and your current employer, you fucking idiot. That's an easy one for HR.
Nobody takes /v/ seriously or even knows about it.
If this were Redditch then MAYBE.
Either way this thread deserves to be saved. His details, especially the ones about what chief is doing and why Locke wants him make pretty good sense.
>Repeating the same thing over and over
>Sony does the exact same thing and bought out most of their studios while throwing around money to try push Sega and Nintendo out
Say "PS4 Has no games", marketer.
Your comic is actually referenced in the game.
Jun is a kind of a super Spartan now. He has enhanced robotic parts after his operation. Like some other anon said, it is kind of like winter soldier only he's not brain washed but he's very loyal to ONI
Cortana was THE WORST part of Halo 4. Her dialogue was god-awful, and the rampancy shit was poorly done.
>WHOOA THERE COWBOY!
Seriously, I cringe every time I hear that line.
There are people whose job it is to do IA-style work and crawling popular internet sites for leaks is one of them. They have other jobs too, but I couldn't make this shit up if I tried.
Go look at positions at PR companies and you'll see shit that fits the bill. I've worked in PR before and knew people who used to do that sort of thing.
>why are your halo games so much worse than bungie
First off, we don't make the vanguard games. We basically stamp out names on them.
Secondly, Halo 4 was our first go and we know what to keep and mostly what to drop.
Personally though, I'm still mad about what we did when we got reach. I was adamantly against the title update but it's not my department.
But in the Halo universe robotic body modifications are a horribly imprecise science and are only used to replace missing limbs. The flavor text on the robot-arm chest pieces in Reach talks about this. It's also the reason Spartans aren't 'cyborgs' by default, but are augmented with drugs and stimulants.
tl;dr: robotic body parts would make a Spartan worse, rather than better in the Halo universe
Cortana is gone.
She won't be be guardians.
If she comes back it will be later but what chef is doing is more about avenging her than trying to bring her back anyway.
If you're really a map designer, tell them to drop sprint so that you can stop making shitty fuck-huge and linear maps to accommodate that garbage and unfitting armor ability. Sprint only really fits into campaign for the people who bitch about being too slow.
Humanity has forerunner tech now. Jun wasn't just operated on with metal parts.
Jun can move really fast and has that quick phase forward move the knights from halo 4 had.
you fight him as Locke and I know this isn't saying much but it's the best boss fight in any halo game to date
> Fuck it. Ask away
so would you agree that you deserve all this shit and more for raping the halo franchise forever, yes or definitely?
> I was adamantly against the title update but it's not my department.
You some kind of massive faggot? The title update is what made the game playable. 85 percent bloom Squad Slayer was decent and no bloom MLG was great.
You should have fixed your matchmaking though, one game could be against a team of four guests and one could be against Obey.
I mentioned earlier we are doing the starcraft 2 thing.
"Guardians is the first part of "Halo 5".
Depending on how much we get done with 5, there will be 1 or 2 more halo 5 games.
Each one will have you playing as chief but each one has an exclusive second character you play as. In guardians it's Locke.
This allows us to come out with a game in 2016 because the multiplayer will be mostly the same (unless we really Fuck it up)
>Uses the same tactic on Sony that Sony used on Nintendo and Sega by buying exclusives and IP's
>Sonyggers at GAF chimp out
>Sonygger on /v/ copy pastes it endlessly thinking he's clever when it just shows the cancerous practices Sony started.
Top. Fukken. Kek.
Oh wow, like all those other spectacular Halo boss fights such as the QTE Didac fight or the "Press B to punch" Regret fight or the...
Halo 4 has had only one real "boss" fight, and that was Tartarus at the end of Halo 2.
The company consensus is generally that we fucked up the multiplayer but the campaign was alright. Pretty much everyone here likes it more than reach.
Our goals for the campaign in Guardians are
>3x longer than 4
>Enemy variety that rivals halo 2
>focusing on gameplay first and foremost, story second
Why would I ever be hyped for a boss fight in Halo?
Encounters aren't normally that long in Halo, and since boss fights in it tend to be either:
1 - Kite until you're allowed to shoot
2 - Shoot, but only when I say so
They normally break the flow of the game since the boss is going to naturally have a health buff, but you won't be brought up accordingly.
people actually ask this faggot questions? you believe this shit? op does not work at 343 you fucking idiots. and even if he did - who cares? they're incompetent and halo is dead now. maybe one might have slight interest in how halo 4 and mcc turned out to be such fucking trainwrecks but that only goes so far in entertainment values.
If you're focussing on gameplay first then why do all the weapons sound like shattering glass and why do spartans have callouts? Also why does the announcer have that absurdly dramatic voice?
>3x longer than 4
>enemy variety like Halo 2
>focusing on gameplay
If you can pull it off you'll have my money day 1
I have no sympathy for the assholes who took over Halo after Bungie signed it away. Everyone knew it was motivated by greed alone without any regard to the Halo story. I can understand needing a paycheck, but not deluding yourself.
None of those are gameplay mechanics. They are all cosmetic. Also you can (I believe) disable callouts.
Forge is an in house project this time. It's simpler to use than ever and IT IS PLANNED, not guaranteed, but planned, to allow you to custom create maps through the Halo app on Windows 10 (yes with mouse and keyboard) but I must stress that is just something planned. No, Halo 5 is not coming to PC, and unless I'm working under a rock than neither is the MCC
the story? THE STORY? my god people are so fucking stupid. the story in halo is fucking bullshit. it's nonsense. it has become increasingly nonsensical the more they added to it. bungie can't tell a story to save their own lives. haven't you seen destiny? halo was always gameplay. and 343i ruined it more than reach haters were ever able to imagine.
also op is a faggot
Reach was the worst campaign. It had a good ending, that's it.
The sense of despair falls flat with the voice acting and the Spartans drop like flies.
The gameplay is
>get to objective a
>take back objective a
>defend objective a
>smart charges on objective a
>get to objective b
Can't you pump some money from Microdick and outsource MCC fixes to someone responsible? Or outsource somethings off of Guardian. MCC was the only thing I was looking forward on consoles 8th gen, and the state you shitted it out really made me reconsider my console purchase
implying I would buy a PS4
what? the campaign has great fucking gameplay. far better than any other console shooter. the story of halo ce is entertaining enough. after that it only gets progessively worse though.
343 released the title update that salvaged 4v4 game modes in Reach. The game was borderline unplayable with full bloom, and it allowed MLG and TU test playlists to completely remove that retarded mechanic.
Shame they never fixed the balance problems in the other playlists (Invasion).
Halo 4 post update is alright now that it has a real competitive playlist, but Halo 4 is dead.
i dunno man, releasing a new sims every 5 or 6 years with another huge chunk of content cut each time, dripfeeding the pieces back to us at high cost slowly, all the expansions and shit together costing over $600 total? then using all that profit to eat up smaller companies that are doing well only to shit all over every game they ever make after that and give them no time to make that shit in, then completely axe the entire studio when it doesnt reach their insane cod level sales expectations?
i really dont think anyone will ever possibly top that. although some certainly are trying
nothing you ever do will ever top reach multiplayer or even come close to turning back all the way to halo 1 multiplayer level. cod and halo will be the same by their next games and its your fault
the campaign used far to much outside lore and was far too different from every other halo story
fucking 3 main enemy types. terrible fucking music. revealing the super-advanced dead precursor race. you dun goofed.
>there will be 1 or 2 more halo 5 games.
now youre not just copying activision, you're copying ubisoft. go fuck yourself with a rusty salty barb-wire wrapped cactus on a splintery wooden pole, you newest tumor of this horrible cancer that has consumed the entire game industry, i hope it collapses again and takes you with it, you murderer of imagination
it's so baffeling how they tried to paint MC as a real character in halo 4. who thought of that? he is the archtype of a fucking faceless space marine. self doubt? man-a.i. relation? what? so overambitious.
sure there are good sf stories like that deal with some similar stuff. guess what? they're books or movies! never has a deep story been told in a fps game.
MS and 343i have so fundamental misunderstanding of what this franchise is that they're owning. they also don't understand that it's run its' course.
My understanding is that all graveminds that ever exist share the same consciousness. If a new gravemind comes to exist, he will have the same memories as the one that died in Halo 3 and the same memories of the one from the war with the forerunners.
Flood do break containment in Halo 5, but that may get pushed to the second installment.
Guardians is mostly about chief trying to detonate the rings while Locke chases him. Also Jun is hunting Halsey. After Locke fights Jun he (Locke) turns to chief's cause.
I don't know why Jun is such a primary character in this but I like the way we used him. After being defeated buly Locke his forerunner implants start to overload.
Currently the planned cliffhanger is that he becomes susceptible to forerunner control and at the last scene is him confronting ONI.
He insists that he is fine and feels better than ever. They give him his new targets, Chief and Locke. As he walks out of the briefing room, he mutters to himself the last lines of the game "revenge can not come soon enough, human"
fixing reach while maybe necessary (i haven't turned on my 360 in ages - so i wouldn't know - and am not yet invested in the current gen) is hardly something that should earn them praise. i mean come on.
Who was responsible for the abominations you called Jackals in H4?
Will we get to play as elites in Halo 5's multiplayer?
oh wow i just now remembered how much i hate the elite's look in h4
Never say never. But I would say no.
Chief is very silent in Guardians. Even in the cinematic where Locke catches up and they fight, he says nothing until
Locke rips off his helmet.
Even if we fail, M$ won't let it die.
Shield jackals are gone in Guardians, but skirmishers are back. In case you haven't realized, we are bringing back a lot from reach. No armor lock obviously.
We have two, yes TWO people whose job it is to attend to halo 4 on 360 and make it playable. Last I heard there was an update planned for next week. Maybe that will help?
In Guardians? No, but since arbiter is most likely the second playable character in part 2, then maybe.
At least Blur makes them look good.
If you're bringing back flood, will there at least be more variety?
The thing that makes flood lame is its basically the little swarm ones, and generic humanoids with guns.
Itd be nice if you had something like scorpion-esque flood or some sort of flying flood
>Unless we really fuck it up
So in other words Halo 5: NOT COD PART 2 will have completely different multi than H5 Pt 1? Because it's pretty easy to tell that you guys fucked it up. I have never seen a dev like 343 before. You guys know what your fanbase wants, but you want a different fanbase.
they are fucking lizard monsters now you blind fucking faggot
they were BIRDS. FUCKING BIRDS. BEAKS MOTHERFUCKER DO YOU KNOW THEM? FUCKING BEAKS WITH TEETH
now they are fucking hideous shortfaced grinning snapping lizard-turtle faggots
you want to redesign a race? fine. look at the skirmishers, they still looked like fucking birds, not these abominations
WHY THE FUCK DO UNNGOY HAVE FINGERNAILS NOW, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK, STOP SCREWING UP ESTABLISHED ALIEN BIOLOGY YOU LORE-RAPISTS
also, why the fuck did all the jackals switch shield-arms? your fucking my muscle memory up on purpose you thumb-dicked tampon eater
Reach was the worst. Look at this >>276169050
While 4 wasn't the best campaign it was at least better than 2 and gave the fans a lot of things they asked for, like flyable pelicans, elephants in the campaign and to play with other spartans (although them being IV)
>That last level driving the warthog on that bullshit Halo under construction is one of the worst levels in all of Halo.
I'll fight you for that opinion
>Shield jackals are gone in Guardians
Seriously? Why would you do that?
>Shield Jackals are gone
What's next are elites going to not roll or have shields? Do you fuckers not understand the basic functions of the different enemies of the halo sandbox. On a side note, will any of the promethean concept designs from H4 make an appearance?
When is Spartan Ops being released for TMCC?
Did 343i realize that Palmer was awfully written when looking back at Halo 4?
How big of a part does Halsey and Jul 'Mdama play in Guardians?
>Shield Jackals are gone
WHY. What purpose does this serve.
every single one of those looks terrible
they look like theyre from some japanese mech anime
is there any thought behind them, or are they just throwing out as many shitty wierd body types as they can
Ok since you can't give any substantial info about the actual substance of the Campaign can you at least give us a time period in which we will see info/video of the campaign arise? (not that I actually believe you are a 3V4i employee)
>Chief is very silent in Guardians. Even in the cinematic where Locke catches up and they fight, he says nothing until Locke rips off his helmet.
who are you replying to you lying piece of shit? i did not ask you any questions. you don't work for 434i.
>until Locke rips off his helmet.
think you're being clever here? even if you did work there, that would just mean you're one in a bunch of incompetent fucks who single-handedly ruined halo and are continuing to shit on it.
have you guys seen nightfall? fast skipped to the first episode. my god it's so bad.
I don't know if anyone remembers but Frank was based as fuck when he worked at Bungie and everyone loved him. Now people hate him out of nowhere because of Halo 4. The guy is still the same he was years ago.
>Locke rips off his helmet
Why would you do this?
A huge part of why people like Master Chief is because you don't know what he looks like making him a great stand in for the player.
>he becomes susceptible to forerunner control and at the last scene is him confronting ONI. He insists that he is fine and feels better than ever. They give him his new targets, Chief and Locke. As he walks out of the briefing room, he mutters to himself the last lines of the game "revenge can not come soon enough, human"
After AN ANCIENT EVIL AWAKENS this is stupid enough to believe.
Prometheans are technically not in the game.
They will be in part 2 following jun/didact.
However, installation 02 and 07 have VERY different sentinal AIs in addition to the normal hovering drones. The destroyer from halo 2 also returns.
This bothers me. Originally yes, chiefs levels were more like that with lots of backtracking and explorable areas. But we have had to hurry things up for Microsoft so now while chiefs levels are far less straightforward than locke's, they are still pretty linear. A lot of AOTCR type levels with a bit more extra rooms and optional areas. Locke's levels are very halo 2 ish
Is he not answering any questions or something? I'm not reading through this thread.
Quite frankly I also highly suspect people like you as rabblerousers trying to derail a perfectly coherent thread because you don't like the subject so it's not like your bullshit is above scrutiny either.
>I JUST FUCKING GOT HERE AND SCROLLED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FUCKING THREAD.
>Quite frankly I also highly suspect people like you as rabblerousers trying to derail a perfectly coherent thread
>a perfectly coherent thread
>I JUST FUCKING GOT HERE AND SCROLLED TO THE BOTTOM
>a perfectly coherent thread
WHY IS THE RETICLE CENTERED NOW WHAT THE FUCK 343
IM VERY DISGRUNTLED
>flood infected prometheans
most annoying enemy ever put into a game ever CONFIRMED
I actually don't mind the "Halo 5 in different parts" thing, as long as it lets you develop the story right.
My main problem with Halo games was they have these awesome books full of lore and interesting characters, and then they pretend they don't exist and give us some barebones story that feels like a sidestory to the books.
But if microsoft plans to charge 60$ for each next part then they're insane.
It better be 40$ or 50$ tops.
>defeat infected promethean
>infected watchers spawn from its corpse
>Flood infected knights on legendary
Why was the graveminds design changed in H2A, but everything else, like covenant keeping the same armor but with different colors for ranks vs entirely different armor kept the same?
Will theatere mode work right again in 5? Why do we have to use the game DVR in MCC? Why is there so little room for saved gameytpes and shit?
>not-shit-but-still-shit map editor
>the sexiest fucking armor customization
>a potentially interesting story that wasn't even accurate and comes down to "daww we gotta get outta here"
>AWFUL characters, fuck you if you think anyone but Jorge and Carter (ONLY IN THEIR DEATH SCENES) were worth giving a single fuck about
Multiplayer was average, I'm glad they implemented new stuff but all around the game was worse than 3 in multiplayer and leagues behind ODST in single player
How much do you suppose I could sell MCC for at GameStop or Best Buy?
Calm down. Here's how the fight goes.
Chief is in the control room of Halo (installation 01 I believe) about to activate what is essentially a self destruct protocol (not really but I'm simplifying this) when Locke approaches him from behind. Locke tells him to stop. Chief says nothing. Locke aims his weapon. Chief turns around. Locke orders chief to stand down. There is a moment of silence before chief darts forward and ducks as Locke shoots. Chief rises up, Locke blocks chief's punch and responds with a berate of hits which seem to connect well with chief. Chief goes to hit lock but Locke blocks both fists and is holding chiefs fists.
Chief headbutts Locke which hurls Locke down to the ground. Chief goes to stomp Locke but Locke rolls over and equips a special weapon given to him by ONI which essentially locks down Spartan and elite armor.
Locke shoots chief with the weapon once, stunning chief and putting him on his knees.
Locke approaches chief but is suprised when chief grabs Locke by the throaght and throws him a few yards away. Chief rushes Locke, who shoots chief several more times with the weapon, causing chief to stumble and crash into Locke. They both roll around, struggling to subdue the other. Locke grabs chief'S helmet, begins to twist it, but chief pivis his position and throws Locke over him, but Locke wholds onto the helmet which is ripped off.
The camera does not show us chief's face.
Chief says "that belongs to me".
Locke responds with "it's over 117, you're not the last Spartan anymore".
Chief says "let's see if you're right" and reveals he now has the weapon. He shoots Locke once who is instantly subdued and can not move. Chief walks over, takes helmet, puts it back on, and goes to knock out Locke but suddenly we hear "Spartan, stop", as the arbiter enters the room.
>In Halo 5 all of the voice acting is done in narrator like Arby n the Chief
Again, the flood may not be in Guardians.
It depends on how much we complete but the flood will definitely be in part 2. Infinity is downed on a halo ring and gets pretty much overrun with flood. Almost all the Spartan 4s are corrupted.
The Halo rings are central to the series.
We can't ignore them. There was a strong concensus whithin the team after halo 4 that we need to actually have halos be important in Halo games.
>Chief is killed by ONI SJWIVs for being a big bad racist
You just know this could happen. I bet you anything the only reason Locke is black is because 343 is headed by libtard women
I really wish Reach hadn't come to exist. It single-handedly:
>fucked over the backstory behind pillar of autumn
>introduced armor abilities that 343 keeps clinging on to because they're trying to build on Reach instead of what made Halo good to begin with
>Gave 343 the idea that adding something new means it has to be game-changing or an incredibly radical change to mechanics/aesthetics.
>Started the fad of medals for fucking everything
>Lowered the standard for forge mode and forge levels after Halo 3
>Removed elites from multiplayer (except for Invasion, which was pretty mediocre, and elite slayer)
The only thing I can give to Reach was the amazing armor customization + firefight voices, and firefight/campaign matchmaking. ODST would have been better if it had matchmaking over Reach too though.
Odst and reach were Bungie testing the waters for Destiny. But yeah, people act like 343i is to completely blame for halo dying when bungie has just as much blood on their hands
as fellow microshit employee ( I don't work in the game division but I do work on projects for xbox), the incompetence of the business teams on projects is staggering.
This is symptomatic of most big companies but by far microsoft has the worst management. The best leaders I've had there have all been fired. Why? Because they put there project and teams above improving making .5% more money.
I'm not surprised your business team managers shipped MCC in the condition they did. They do that for every project they can all so they can tell their bosses look at how well we met deadlines. They don't give a shit about the condition of the game or project. I've gone from working at apple, to microsoft, to amazon, and now back to microsoft. All big companies work this way. They don't give a shit about the costumer.
you don't feel like that completely invalidates all the work in Halo 1-3 on how those were the one sacred rings and the covenant had a really hard time actually finding them?
Did the Marathon games ever come up as inspiration or does anyone at 343 even acknowledge that halo was spiritually its prequel?
OP is a fat fucking liar. I work for one of the studios sub-contracted to port Halo games for the MCC.
Halo 5 isn't mostly in-house, because we've been sub-contracted yet again alongside a couple of other developers from the MCC to do work on 5.
>working for Microsoft's whipping boy
Good news, I heard they are hiring at Rare!
Maybe you can swing a job at Black Tusk and make Gears of War for the next 10 years
Recapping the thread for newcomers based on what I've read
>Halo 5 is split into 2 or 3 games, the first being guardians. The multiplayer will be mostly the same between each title.
>Chief is trying to destroy remaining rings to avenge cortana
>ONI wants to keep rings around because forerunner tech = power
>ONI sends Locke to stop chief
>Jun is still alive and is killing off powerful people that oppose ONI (laskey, shipmaster)
>Jun is cybernetically implanted with forerunner tech, can move really fast/phase through small gaps of space
>Locke meets up with Arbiter, together they track down chief at a halo ring
>Chief narrowly defeats Locke, but Arbiter convinces chief to spare him
>Jun tells Locke he's taking over, Locke tracks down Jun, stops him from killing halsey
>Jun goes crazy, forerunner tech is taking over
>at the end of the game, didact has taken over Jun and now exists in his body
>In halo 5 part 2, the flood will take over the infinity and Spartan 4s
No, they changed the design of his mouth and his body. It's radically different.
You do realize it didn't fuck with the PoA at all, and there's plenty of time where cheif is in cyro during the fall of reach where that scene in reach happens.
Also, are you seriously implying that invasion was just meh and that forge world wasn't a mssive improvement? Also, i was fine with armor abillities, at least as long as it's not in every game type
Who the Fuck is this Jun guy?
He sounds like a discount Lao Lang who is already a discount grey fox.
Is he in Halo wars or something?
Is he skilled enough to pull off the shit 343 has him doing?
Hey OP, have you considered Flood Firefight? 4 ODST on a mission to eeradicate local flood infestation; however they would have to defend their base of operations and protect a weaponry built to eradicate flood host by using Forerunner and human technology. Kinda like Horde in Gears of war 3 and you one reinforcement is a supply drop containing a Spartan IV suit and other weapon goodies.
>Jun becomes relevant
>Jun becomes a cyborg god thing
ALL THAT BASTARD DID WAS FLY A PLANE AND SHOOT ME ON ACCIDENT
THERE IS NO WAY THIS IS REAL
Why did spartan IV girls look so anorexic? What happened to the asses from Reach?
Also how will damage modifiers be handled in custom games? Will the option to have only vehicles apply damage be available? Like how in 3 if a player couldn't do damage but piloted a vehicle the vehicle still did damage. But in reach you couldn't even splatter people if your damage was muted.
A part of Noble Six's squad as a sniper. Everybody else died doing some heroic shit while he was assigned to escort Dr. Halsey someplace that I forgot.
Seeing as how Halsey is alive in the sequels, it's assumed that he succeeded and was the only one of Noble 6's crew who lived and wasn't spoken of again.
>Pretty much everyone here likes it more than reach.
What's there to even talk about? The series is dead and continues to be milked by a pseudo developer.
Ok ive been pretty much banned from everywhere for asking questions
1. why all the gimmicky bullshit, surely the devs know its garbage and a cash grab, is microsoft pushing it?
2. why ADS and Sprint? the lead multiplayer designers said he was focusing more on quake and was silenced?
3. how bad is the damage control and marketing shills?
do alien enemies still speak fantasy gibberish or english again? I miss the random dialogues from Halo 3, IWHBYD improved that game so much, but it felt kinda useless in Reach and Halo 4
For continuity sake, brutes are gone. We were going to put them in but it doesn't make sense to have them serving with elites.
Engeneers are also coming back.
We have altered the storm'S ranks to be more individually powerfull.
Elites will almost always have a sword as a back up weapon for when their shield deplets.
Jackals are now only scout class, but skirmishers are VERY common and now have shields like elites. They have replaced grunts are the common storm covie foe.
Grunts are less common but almost always carry heavy weapons now.
>is microshit pushing it
you realize the only reason we got shit like dual wielding and plasma swords in halo 2 was because microshit came down and forced bungie to put them in right?
>I work for 343
>the whole thread mindlessly believes him
By the way, halo dies at the end of halo 5, and the nigger becomes the main character, played and voiced by John Boyega in Halo 6, the movie, the game, developed by Naughty Dog.
Mind explaining OP?
"John-117 soon arrived in the Control Room with the ring's Activation Index and confronted the Didact; the Spartan explained that because the Didact could not be killed by conventional means a different approach must be taken. The Didact became puzzled when John inserted the Index into the Core; he asked why the Spartan would activate the ring just to destroy him. John informed the Didact that he did not activate the ring's weapon but instead disabled its safety protocols; this allowed the monitor to eject a large section of the ring containing the Control Room toward the Composer's Forge. The monitor rescued the Spartans while the Didact was subjected to the Composers' effects, disintegrating him but storing his essence in digital form; John later told Fleet Admiral Terrence Hood that he believed the Forerunner was merely "contained", not dead."
Will there be any big guy references?
>we antagonize him into leaving
>we antagonize him into leaving
>we ask him questions
>we get info, neat
>we ask him questions
>it becomes increasingly obvious he's fake, oh well.
Do you think anyone here really believes him at this point?
Do you see that asking this nigga questions is the only productive option?
As Boyega approaches Master Chief, played by acclaimed actor Tom Hardy, they have a heated verbal exchange with sensuous undertones, most notably from the direct observations of Chief's stature, and the potential fatal situation that would arose if his helmet based artificial respiratory system were removed.
The first paragraph where it talks about the splitting of the campaign up into multiple games (currently planned 2) is true but the rest is made up. We don't even have a name for the second part.
It's cosmetic ADS, it only looks like that for the BR, magnum, carbine, plasma pistol, DMR, light rifle, and
M$ isn't "pushing" us to put Sprint in the game. Trust me when I say being taken out of Sprint by getting shot really makes it only useful for covering ground, not running away.
Both firefight(that's not what it's called) and forge can have AI BOT placement.
Didact exists in a sort of transcendant non-physical form. If you've been paying attention to the thread you know ultimately what he comes to be formed as.
100% fixed? I'd say within a month.
However, it should be pretty damn playable after Fridays update. My conscern is if M$ will give us a month
So to sum up this thread: Microsoft ruins everything in an attempt to appeal to the blithering masses of casuals who will give them the most money.
This isn't news. It's painfully obvious 343 was forced to release MCC before it was completed. It's a real shame that 343 has to take all the heat when in reality MS is 100% to blame. I truly believe 343 wanted to make it the best Halo experience they possibly could to make it up to the hardcore Halo fans for the (arguable) disaster that was Halo 4.
That being said, Halo 5 does look pretty fucking good and I can't wait to try the beta. I question a lot of 343's creative decisions but you can't please everybody and that's just the nature of game development.
It'd be cool if you guize made flood firefight and space battles multiplayer. But I guess you need more motivation and love and respect in order to put the things we want in Halo.
I'm seeing a lot about Jun from reach in this thread.
I don't want to pick through it, can someone tell me what his role in the game is? Is it a major role?
thats bullshit, thrusters and sprint are fucking god awful gimmicks that distance from the core multiplayer halo had
Until your company can actually make a goddamn halo game you have no right to change up the formula with shitty gimmicks
"cosmetic ads" is fucking bullshit as well, if that were the case you could include a classic style without a problem, but you cant do that
also how about an option to make the weapons smaller so they dont take up 50% of the fucking screen?
how about getting rid of rolling starts and THE METRIC FUCKTON OF POINTLESS MEDALS
>No way I'm putting something here that could cost me my job.
Then you're just full of shit. Taking a business card and dating it shouldn't be so hard. Without showing your name.
No company can fire you on that basis; especially not if you don't give details regarding your position/past experience.
Picture attached, I'm working at Square Enix. The difference here is that I'm at least trying to prove it. (Got better things to do than making a fake stack of business cards just so I can reply to people like you on /v/.)
But these "I'm working in the industry thread" where no one is even trying to give the slightest proof that they actually work in the industry are just silly.
Here is what happened to Jun post-Reach.
>(Got better things to do than making a fake stack of business cards just so I can reply to people like you on /v/.)
the problem with this method of verification is that many here don't have better things to do, and would do that
Any plans to give us a global fileshare for custom gametypes and Forge maps for MCC, like there is for Halo 4 and Reach?
Is the idea of DLC maps for Halo 2 Anniversary out of the question?
Will we ever be able to see player emblems in Halo 2 and 3's multiplayer? Right now they still don't work.
Any other major updates on the table for MCC, provide Microsoft doesn't kill it? Armor customization and armor previews are crucial. And that 50 file share limit is ridiculous.
yeah he's part of the noble team that the player is on
they all die heroically
except for 1-arm being shot in the headand jun stays to save someone and was expected to die
iirc the only notable characters in reach were noble team and halsey so yeah important role
Fucking everything in this post. I want a response to it all please. That, and is 343 ever going to fix the awful Halo 2 Vista netcode in MCC's Halo 2 Classic matchmaking? Will 3 and 4 ever receive their original patches and updates, or will they forever be sitting there at fucking pre-patch?
trust me thrusters are shit
also since captain 343 wont respond
why are you focusing on MLG shit? why do you keep using all the same guns with reskins? where is the weapon variety? why do the 3 maps that are getting shown of look geometrically the same? where is the fun maps? where are the vehicles? where is the gravity hammer and good looking sword? why does your entire dev team hate traditional halo?
>things I guarantee will be fixed soon
All problems with custom games
Parties in multiplayer
Achievements not popping
>things that will likely be fixed soon
Spartan Ops is coming out
Emblems will show up in multiplayer
Forge gametypes/more forge options
Problems with terminals and the Halo channel
>things you shouldn't hold your breath on
Changing achievement requirements
Frame rate drops in Halo CE anniversary mode.
Holy shit this thread is huge.
I see it's filled with shitposting.
To save me the navigation, anyone want to give me any plot spoilers the OP dropped?
>didact has taken over Jun and now exists in his body
No, this is bullshit.
>Cortana jumps in Didact's armor at the end of Halo 4
>Didact gets composed
>Didact will be brought back because of the Composer working
>Cortana will come with him
This human-Cortana shit will happen I bet $0 on it.
343i cant do anything on their own, they need to fall back on Bungies shit constantly and even then they still fuck it up
CLEAR REMINDER THAT 343 WILLINGLY SOLD A BROKEN GAME TO HALO FANS IN ORDER TO BOOST XBOX ONE SALES ON BLACK FRIDAY
It looks like plastic shit, but good luck seeing it with the guns taking up 90% of the screen and medals taking up the other 10%
if you buy Halo 5 you are part of the problem, and this is coming from a long time halo fan
The console itself is tricky to develop for, but we should be able to get 60 fps running smoothly on it. It's funny, literally every time a Microsoft suit comes by he or she mentions "how's the frame rate" like we don't know they only care about that because Sony advertises with that shit.
The resolution however... I'm hearing varied stories. Just the other day someone assured me this game "WILL be in full HD" but honestly I'm skeptical. The environments are really detailed. I wouldn't be surpsires if the final product is more like 900p, which is fine with me.
Posting your photo is revealing yourself. 4chan isn't a secret club anymore this isn't 2004, someone will recognize you.
I'm not directly involved with these projects. Even if I were, don't expect any employee to come and reveal such things on fucking /v/. Titles being green lighted on a specific platform, release dates and so on are highly confidential, even internally.
I'm not allowed to talk about projects I work to my fellow colleagues, especially those who are remote (even if they're still part of the same company).
To give you an idea, I knew about [a certain game] being localized fairly late in the process, only when it was already between the hand of localization. And even that I should have had access to that information. I just happened to be good friend with people working on that project and the information was just given to me informally.
Frankly I've been on /v/ for far too long and I've never seen that occurring. There are other way to prove that you work somewhere without compromising your identity.
I posted a copy of my payslip here in the past (masking my name, salary, department, employee number etc.) but just leaving the company address visible and couple of other information that cannot be used to identify me.
Such documents aren't available to the general audience.
Business cards are strong enough usually to identify someone. While one isn't much (hell I pretty much have a card from every company in the industry around because of tradeshow/convention), having a stack is just very unusual unless you are an employee (or at least a former employee).
Also I can tell you that at SQEX, employees below a certain seniority level don't have business card. That include non permanent staff, low tier CS/QA employees, outsourced employees etc. So no, not I'm not the janitor. Our cards are bilingual as well, with one side in Japanese and one in English. (Your name and title are translated.)
Is Master Chief planned to die in any of halo 5? It's a little considering how he's not the focus on the cover art, and releasing the 'master chief collection' kind of presents itself as meaning that from now on the focus of the halo series will be elsewhere
>If everything goes as planned
That's funny. I wish.
I'll be honest with you, the whole flood subplot is probably gunna be held off until part 2. That's better than us just getting done as many levels as possible and then ending it abruptly ala Halo 2.
If that's the case, then there will be 6 or 7 Locke missions. These are standard halo levels, linear but not obsessively so. They are all pretty big (the ark/the covenant sized).
Chief doesn't have missions as much as what we are calling "segments". These are big and more open (though not as open as we originally wanted). There will be 5 of these and then 2 (or 3) normal missions at the end for chief.
how big of a failure do you think this is shaping up to be?
like is single player just a complete fuck up?
is there a low morale at 343?
Is the multiplayer going to launch with only 12 maps?
Riddle me this then, 343 employee:
Are playable Elites returning to Halo 5?
Are the QTE segments gone?
Tell something that we don't already know about the Halo 5 beta.
It's not shaping up to be a Fuck up development-wise.
We are working hard and in Unison on this campaign. Our primary commitment is fixing the MCC. If M$ let's us do that then I expect Guardians will get pushed back to early 2016 but if M$ refuses this then we will have to cut some content. As I mentioned earlier, my vote would be to cut the flood sub plot as it is more of a deal in Halo 5 part 2 anyway (infinity gets fucking wrecked by flood).
So no, I don't see a disaster shaping up but from a devs point of view it is annoying when you have to cut part of your game to meet a publishers deadline. Like it's REALLY annoying.
Either way, it will be the longest halo campaign by a considerable length.
Multiplayer however... We need to stick this landing. For many reasons we need to get it right but mostly because Part 2 is going to come out only a year later and we don't have the resources to retool the multiplayer AND build a new campaign in a year.
We are scheduled to launch with 15 maps, and I think we will.
>are playable elites returning
No, but the invasion gametype may be. We have a working build of it with blues vs reds but when MCC had its episode we dropped it.
>Are QTE segments gone
There are still button presses and when you press them there will still be ablityle animation of chief pressing them, but anything that requires "press X to perform mechanic you can't normally perform" will not be in Halo 5 Guardians.
>Something we don't already know about the beta
There are customizable taunts when your team wins. M$ has already approached us about making some as microtransactions. If you laso the campaign then you get one where you it is you and another team mate fighting over a gun then hugging like in the Halo CE legendary flip with Johnson and the elite.
The gravemind redesign was notbsomethong we told blur to do. They just did it that way. We really like it. I don't see this as lore breaking in any way. Gravemind is a mass of fleash and bone, he can look differently as he spreads/consumes.
Theatre will work for everything in Guardians. As a matter of fact, that's already done.
Expect things like file size upgrades to not show up until after the game is fixed. The good news is the game should be 90% fixed by next week.
Are there any plans to kill off Master Chief? The emphasis on locke in the cover art and the fact a 'master chief collection' has been released comes off as if you're trying to shift the focus of the series into other areas now
I've got a question.
I heard Phil Spencer came down to 343 to make sure you guys were fixing the MCC. Has he actually done that and is anything you mentioned with that "suit" over his power?
Also, how much are we going to get out of the early access for the beta this weekend? Will anything we get in it carry over to the beta on the 29th? Is the Universal Reclaimer control scheme in Halo 5?
You can shut off the AI voices in the main game. Not sure about the beta. Yes you can choose different voices (male, female, Chief, Locke, Palmer, Jun, and maybe more if we add them. I've heard Johnson'S voice will be exclusive to the legendary or relaimer edition.
I have yet to hear anyone mention a single iota of even a joke of killing off the chief.
>people are STILL responding to this thread like they actually believe this guy
holy fuck you are all retarded
Phil is a cool guy. Everybody likes him and although I directly have barely spoken with him, I must admit he is the right man for the job. Yes he did come down personally but he was very understanding about our situation.
The problem is, Phil is mostly a figurehead. He can make rules and set things in motion, but there are plenty of hire-ups at Microsoft Game Studios that can overrule him.
The content you get off entering the beta early is the same as what everyone gets week one of the main beta. There are a select few control schemes in the beta. I'd expect more in the full game but I can't confirm this.
Precursurs will not be in Guardians and I'm pretty sure they won't be in part 2 either.
Yeah because why have anyone inside the industry post anything interesting on /v/, lets keep this board for epic shitposting and maymays only
OP is probably full of shit but people like you are the worst
I actually work at a AAA studio, and I can almost say with certainty that OP is not an LD. At best, he has a friend who works at the studio or he works as a contracted out QA.
why? because 9/10 leaks tend to occur this way.
There is no way in hell that some guy that worked in the industry for 10 years would have given away the information that he has and risk being blacked listed from the industry.
In the past, I have noticed similar patterns. QA guy in Ukraine (or whatever) plays game, answers few questions right based on what he/she played, as people start asking more questions, many of them start making things up as they go along.
If OP was smart and said he was QA from the start, I may have actually believed him since they work on short contracts, don't get paid all that much and many of them just see it as "another job" before they find something else. (with all due respect for QA people)
We have reached out to Marty but we are sticking with Kazuma for Guardians.
Personally I think the new tracks he has made are Halo: Reach OST tier.
If we were to get Marty I would only assume he would do a joint efgore with kazuma for part 2
hey guys everyone knows op is a sham and I already fired his ass
I'm Phil Spencer in the fucking digital flesh. here's a picture for proof
I dunno, I remember people talking about Halo and the Xbox on the bus when I was in like, third grade or so.
That's a lot of boss fights in a lot of games.
doesn't make it good, but it brings it up to standard
>actually falling for these bs
This threads are as stupid as a Illuminati member showing up on /pol/ or /k/ or an CIA agent posting on /b/ asking them to ask him question.
Wrong. Halo 2 had Tartarus as well as the Heretic Leader AS WELL AS The Prophet of Regret.
Halo 3 also had 343 Guilty Spark.
>Black Tusk Studios is dedicated to creating immersive, AAA games that push the limits of Microsoft's entertainment platforms. Located in downtown Vancouver, Canada, we are part of the Microsoft Studios family, and we are growing.
HOLY SHIT IT'S REAL. WHY.
There's actually a map that deals with that.
It's another map but it's only half loaded and there is static everywhere cause the war games simulator is broken. There are flood tentacles in parts of the map and a big pit on one end.
>remember watching old halo videos back when machinima was on the rise
>sodagod going over news
>digitalph33r making good content
>Tsquared on G4 and Dr Pepper cans
So basically a case of "lets make the Infinity and her crew look even more incompetent." Like holy shit, Im surprised they haven't driven that fucking thing into a star already with how retarded everyone on board is.
In the comics Osman is pretty steamed that Lasky sent Majestic to save Halsey.
Palmer stuck up for him ("They were backup and Halsey just got away") but Osman probably won't let him get away with it.
Why can;t you just make a traditional halo game without all the extra cod, killstreak, armor ability bullshit.
Do you have any insight on why 343i decided to shift away from the heavy Aliens influence on Halo's aesthetic design?
That's what made it memborable. This new post-modern hexagon Crysis like look just looks meh.
This brings up a good point
During Spartan Ops, Infinity is in orbit while Spartans and marines battle covenant on the surface. It is implied this takes places over the course of several days.
So where is the covenant fleet? On the other side of the planet? Did they draw a line on the equator and agree on it?
Did they decide space is a safe zone?
Wow this thread is still going.
Theoretically we could make any content in the game available to anyone at any time. Bungle did this with reach where eventually they gave the flaming armor effect and custom nameplates away to everyone.
We also did this with the Halo 3 recond helmet.
But wait, requiem was destroyed.
Did the covie ships just open up the door and leave?
They were outside the planet for like 3 years and couldn't open it, but now they can whenever they want?
>Halo Wars 2
I'd be lying if I said there were no plans. Frank wants to do it and we even have a rough story sketched out.
Obviously we wouldn't be making it. I have no idea what studio we would ask at this point, especially since it would need to be made for Xbox one first and foremost
Literally fan-fiction. Why does anyone still care about Halo after 4? That game single-handedly destroyed the entire franchise, reducing it into deviantart-tier stories that try so fucking hard to latch onto every little thing that's ever been in the periphery of the franchise before Bungie bounced and expounding upon it in the most cringeworthy ways possible.
I will never not be mad after 4. That game charted the beginning of my hatred of video games.
Totally understandable. Any chance of spilling the story?
Would you say all of this below is bullshit?

When Chief showed up and the entryway opened up, I assume a bunch of the ships rushed in. At some point, Jul Mdama met up with the Didact and swore allegiance to him, and thats why the Storm Covenant and the Prometheans work together. I figured that, during Spartan Oops, the Didact, due to his leaving Requiem, gave Jul the necessary authority to command the planets defenses and Prometheans in his absence.
If it's not in Guardians, it will be in part 2.
Granted, if it's in part 2, it may have gone through a few writting changes. That happens a lot here.
For instance the decision to put Jun in Guardians was only made about a year ago and now he's the closest thing to a main villain the game has.
Why do you work for a shit tier studio?
Why was Halo 4 such a turd?
Why does Halo 5 look like CoD?
Why is 343 adamant about ruining Halo?
As for halo wars, the story involves the spirit of fire ending up at one of the Halo rings. They have to exit the ship due to a flood outbreak (there's flood on SOF from HW1) and you have to start building a resistance from scratch on one of the rings. Plan is for a flood campaign to be included. Thats all I know. Apparently this is supposed to tie into explaining how Reach and TFOR do not contradict each other as well. I have no idea how though.
As for that list of games, it's pretty much bullshit for the most part, but 2 things are somewhat true, probably just out of lucky speculation.
1. Spartan Strike will come to Xbox One (and 360) later.
2. How the FUCK do you find out about COMBAT??? it's a working title obviously but still.
Halo has a big universe and we want to take advantage of that.
Just as bungie purposely left requiem at the end of Halo 3, they also purposely left Jun alive. Every single person I have talked to about Reach has at some point asked me "what happened to the sniper?"
So we want to use that. It started off with a small role and when we decided we needed to give didact a better role than he got in Halo 4 we thought "maybe we can use Jun"
Combat I don't want to spoil much of because despite my hate for M$ lately I feel this game has potential. You know the galactic conquest mode from Battlefront 2? Imagine that but being able to choose from different factions (UNSC, storm covenant, Brute covenant, flood, forerunner) and jump into conquests that spanned days or even weeks with 32 v 32 players and bots.
That's the idea behind it. I'll keep my lips sealed on plot, not that it needs one, but as a spin off game it's going to have the most important plot in the series of all the spin offs.
Master Chief will be hooked up to an extensive life support system and forced to run around doing gay shit for all eternity. This is his fate. This is... Halo 0891589275800081926587021580: Niggers Tongue My Anus
It's true that Microsoft will probably never kill off halo but we do have a definite ending for the reclaimer saga planned. And it is a pretty final ending. After that any game made would probably take place somewhere earlier in the universe.
Originally there was just going to be halo 4, 5, and 6. Now that 5 has been expanded into two or three games (at this point we still have it pegged at two), the trilogy has been changed to a saga. I'm guessing 6 will also be split up is the 5 split method proves profitable.
Halo 6 hasn't been written but there are general things I know will happen in the story. We actually HEAVILY foreshadow some seriously important halo 6 stuff in two of the Halo CEA terminals.
>Apparently this is supposed to tie into explaining how Reach and TFOR do not contradict each other as well.
There's already a perfectly good reason for that though: the only thing that is fucked up between TFOR and H:R that's not explained in halsey's journal is how long the battle of reach took, it took an extra 3 weeks in the game.
But the slipsspace crystal from first strike bent time by 3 weeks to allow MC to return to reach 3 weeks earlier from when he arriived at Halo. Obviously the events of halo reach takes place during the 3 week gap that was "erased" by the crystal.
>Darkspire will never make videos again
I'm glad they at least ended it all
it was one rushed vid damn it was still closure
It's just a guess but maybe the ones about the ship that crashed on halo.
At the time I thought it was just showing that spark won't do the same to the next ship that lands on his ring (the PoA) but now that I think about it They never did explain what that ship was.
I'd fucking love another halo wars. It just needed more stuff (more factions, troops, etc).
I can't even think of any studios that do strategy games though. Has there even been any talk about even possible studios?
It would be nice if Microsoft still had ensemble
