DAILY REMINDER that Solid Snake
>defeated Big Boss twice (once as a rookie)
>defeated Grey Fox three times
>defeated Ocelot twice
>defeated his genetically superior brother twice
>defeated Metal Gear numerous times
>carried out 5+ dangerous missions alone with no faggy Mother base buddy system BS
>actually fights for causes that make sense instead of trying to build some faggy PMC that will make even more wars
>never lost an eye, arm or leg
Solid Snake is OBJECTIVELY the greatest soldier who ever lived. He is a legend. Big Boss is a joke compared to him. He even finally kills Big Boss just by being near him and then continues to live after even though he is old as fuck he just walks away.
it always kind of pissed me off that they put naked snake's head on solid snake's body in brawl
no its the other way around
Liquid thought he got the inferior genes but Ocelot tells Solidus that Solid Snake was the one who got the inferior genes
he's just THAT good. Meanwhile an adult Big Boss got pinned to a wall and almost stabbed by a 12 year old Liquid.
Yeah I was wondering why that pic in OP was fucking with my head
What is confusing to me is that clearly snake and solidus have the same model in this pic with different hair, etc
but Solidus is supposed to be the only 100% perfect copy of BB. Snake and Liquid, from what I gather, have slightly different faces than BB or Solidus do and slightly different genes
but then again its MGS so
in real, no
In MGS world it does. Liquid constantly calls them "flawed genes"
Kojima even admitted he knew it made no sense realistically concerning how genes work but who cares nigga is using an iDroid in 1985 with a robot arm
yes they were
Solidus Snake was designed to age way faster. He was actually in his late 20s when he became president but the Patriots helped cover up his real age and shit
Who fucking knows why they programmed him to age that way or why they thought a BB clone would make a good president. Plot device is why.
yeah why is it even called MGS5, there are no Solids to be found....or are there?
Liquid and Solid were made at the same time. That's why one has the dominant and the other the recessive genes despite genetics not working that way.
Solidus was made after them and is the complete perfect clone of Big Boss. His accelerated aging is faster because Kojima.
My Dick: On the move
My Dick: Moved to new position
also reminder that Solid Snake barely has any emotions, just anger.
BB gets all sad and mopey and says shit like "Kaz am I a demon....? ;__;"
lol meanwhile snake just pushes everything down inside like having to kill his dad and friend
plus he eats cigarettes literally
every time I see her I'm weirded out by her weird lip size / face proportions. also she has a weird semi underbite that makes her bottom teeth push the lip out further than normal.
glad it's not as extreme with the in game model.
Solid Snake is the pinnacle of your average human being with no modifications, he's a clone of Big Boss but you have to imagine that it balances out with him having the lesser genes and Metal Gear's theme of being more than a repeating pattern of genes/ideas.
Raiden is the current known power cap in the Metal Gear series allowing for cybernetic modifications. He chewed through Metal Gears and other cyborgs of similar power like they were fucking nothing.
Now if you want a terrifying thought, think Solid Snake + Raiden's cybernetic body. Steel Snake would unstoppable.
that was back when MGS3 was supposed to give more of a background as to where Solid Snake's genetics and ocelot and everyone came from
now the Big Boss chronicles are basically their own thing. MGS4 barely felt like it was about snake. Actually neither did MGS2.
Come to think of it, MGS was basically the only metal gear that really focused on Solid Snake as a person.
Cigarettes were his only true stress relief system. Could only be used against him as far as he lets his foes see the smoke or light.
Meanwhile we have bad boss and his complicated family matters and debt crises with the main villain(s) of the series.
MGS4 was about Kojima not wanting to make another Metal Gear occurring after 2. He seems to like the Senjou no Biggu Bossu, and doesn't get buttmad when people fuck with the MGS4+ world.
That's a part of the subtext, the other huge part is no one taking Kojima's ideas seriously. Just dish out the games with no thought put into them, or in this case SOP without any real battlefield experience or ideals.
So what even happened during MPO? I know BB met Roy Campbell but did it have to do with PW very much?
I want to get back into MGS. I was a big fan but stopped with MGS4. Now MGS5 has given me a hankering and I'll probably pick up HD collection, GZ and MGSV for the PS3 (don't judge) but I don't know what to do about MPO.
I played GZ before Peace Walker and the entire impact was lost on me.
It wasn't until I went back and beat PW, and got all the tapes in GZ that I understood everything. I didn't give a shit about Paz until that moment because I had never known anything about her character other than the fact that something happened that cause animosity between her and MSF.
But this tape https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kanTh4jSfKM after playing Peace Walker was heartbreaking. If you don't play PW before listening to this you will not understand how badly Cipher ruined her life.
As shit as PW is it's significant enough, it's the transition from Big Boss trying to emulate The Boss to simply trying to establish an Outer Heaven since he considers her a traitor.
So, when Kojima inevitably says "fuck it" and just remakes the whole thing, do you think he'll retcon the entire concept of Old Snake?
Big Boss was cool in MGS3 but all this shit afterwards was unnecessary. I thought MGS3 was just supposed to be a sort of back story to set up what would have been MGS4 when Kojima was actually ready to make it.
The tapes are really the only reason to play PW. And I fucking love PW. Just, overall, the story doesn't really do much, aside from BB finally accepting himself as being the new 'boss.' And he only did so for a dumb reason, believing Boss betrayed him by 'putting down her gun.'
But, if PW didn't have the Paz tapes, or even the ones about Boss's past, then PW would be as worthless to the overall story as PO.
All I know is that Big Boss is a commie asshole that defected from the US and tries to destroy it on a daily basis meanwhile Snake is a real American hero that saved the US from the Patriots.
it could be. Kojima is getting old. If he were to do another metal gear game, it wouldn't be for a long time. He already has Silent Hills lined up, which will probably be worked on for 3 years after TPP.
>a new Policenauts
>or a new ZoE
Oh god, my dick would explode if either becomes a thing
A long downward spiral that lasted nearly 30 years, then learning why he was wrong. But only after being killed twice by the same asshole.
A Policenauts styled game would be fucking great on 3DS/Vita. I feel like this generation is completely missing adventure games on handhelds. Where's my Hotel Dusk, Lux Pain, Ace Attorneys, Time hollow etc etc?
At least big boss didn't accidentally arm an inoperable metal gear for the enemies.
at least big boss didn't keep routinely falling for the patriots' ruses and doing things that helped them the entire time
Solid is engineered to be perfect at fighting. Big Boss kind of just grinded through it his entire life and accumulated skills peripheral to fighting that Solid never did.
Solid was the perfect soldier, but Big Boss was the perfect leader.
>But, if PW didn't have the Paz tapes, or even the ones about Boss's past, then PW would be as worthless to the overall story as PO.
I completely agree.
The tone of the tapes feels like actual Metal Gear. The game itself is like Saturday Morning Metal Gear.
Well, we know he didn't want to make MGS4, so he decided to make it the ultimate MGS fanwank
kick reason to the curb entirely, just make it as much feels and nostalgia as possible.
It was a fan wank but it was also meant to ruin a lot of memories for the player.
There's a reason Snake is an old fart and gets rejected by Meryl. There's a reason Kojima gave the Shadow Moses level design to a rookie.
I love it when people think
The Patriots being the support team from Snake Eateris contrived.
They obviously haven't played MGS1 in a very, very long time, otherwise they would have remembered this.
Naw, imagine if they make an AI based off of him just like they did with the Boss in Peacewalker, and then stick that shit inside a Metal Gear.
>FINAL OBJECTIVE: DEFEAT METAL GEAR SOLID
>get CQCed apart by a giant robot
This has to be in the next Rising game
It was all a simulation
Mgs2 doesn't actually mean anything
Those metal gears he fought were probably just programmed imitations, probably weaker
I mean the whole game has this feeling of intentionally forced DO YA FEEL LIKE A BADASS YET? Well besides nude chapter when kojima felt like reminding you that you're powerless if he wants. I mean seriously, you basically tag team with solid snake and sword fight the president of the United States, the game wants you to feel like a badass but it almost shoves it in your face. Id say it let you FEEL like you blew up 20 metal gears
YEAH BUT HE WASN'T TRYING IN METAL GEAR 2 AND TOTALLY LET SNAKE WIN ON PURPOSE BECAUSE IT WAS ALL APART OF HIS MASTER PLAN TO LOOK LIKE SEAN CONNERY AND HAVE HIS FACE MELTED OFF BY A LIGHTER
You have no idea dude. I had forgotten myself and then when I beat MGS1 again a few weeks ago, I lost my fucking shit.
If you assume that Kojima just pulled that shit out of his ass for 4 at the last minute just to make a SO SHOCKING connection, it certainly makes sense, but then, there's no logical reason why the DARPA Chief would have any idea what Ocelot's actual motives were
unless he was always intended to have been SIGINTfrom the get-go.
Do you not remember who Donald Anderson/DARPA Chief is?
Like I said just now >>277882910 it wouldn't make any sense for him to know who Ocelot really was if there was never intended to be any connection whatsoever.
I know it was a simulation but I thought you meant it was VR for a second
and yeah I get that was the theme of it but I think Kojima might have just liked cool robot fights as well
MGS4 wasn't made because people weren't satisfied with the gameplay you egg, it was made because they weren't satisfied with the story. No one said anything about camera and level design.
Stop it, the entire fucking game IS not a simluation.
If anything the Tanker most likely was due to the lines of dialog you get if you do the tanker or dont do the tanker.
Arsenal Gear might be the only other time its an actual VR since its by far the most fucked up and offputting(but amazing) part of the game.
With lines of code coming out of the fucking sky and the game breaking before you.
No part of the game was VR. Even the craziness during the Arsenal Gear section was real. I thnk the 'lines of code' you're referring to was only because they were going for a certain effect with the walls inside arsenal but with the PS2 hardware it just looks like the shit is floating in midair.
Dude thats a pretty big fucking strech, Its quite obvious those lines of code are meant to be their and are working as intended. They are exactly the same in the HD collections anyways.
Its not like they look out of place, in fact it looks like they were deliberately placed.
Well yeah, the patriots worked with him but ocelot was just using them
Not sure what this all has to do with the crew from mgs3 turning out to be the patriots. Personally I still find it to be kinda contrived, I mean zero is talker about all the sudden as being this mastermind with his own agenda yet all we know him as is being the comms guy. It's like if a fucking janitor in the metal gear universe went on to become a villainous mastermind with his own plans all along.
Just seems pulled out of ass. Not to mention how you never see zero in his cipher form fucking ice so far, despite all the talk of him.
Mgs4 zero doesn't count since he's literally a vegetable and that scene was fucking stupid anyway
got the one that compares salad snack with Iroquis Pliskin?
Shit is so jokes
>mfw never noticed the similarities between Smuggler and Drebin
>mfw they have the same VA
>mfw Kojima played Deus Ex
WHAT THE FUCK
>defeated his genetically superior brother twice
This one isn't true, Kojima can't into genetics and so you really can't take that retarded shit seriously.
>BBfags being this buttblasted
But is there any evidence of this shit in the boss fight itself or is this just retcon wankery from PW? I remember The Boss shooting me a lot in the final battle, I don't remember her putting her gun down until she was dying, and she was all "KILL ME SNEK"
All of the Plant chapter is a simulation. Not a virtual reality, but a simulation still. Everything Raiden does and sees is monitored and indirectly controlled by GW. The only exception is Solid Snake's appearance, and that can be debated if you see the whole thing as not just a way for GW to learn how to manipulate society, but also a test to see if GW can do what it's expected to do, even with an unknown factor.
Snake is most likely still manipulated by the Patriots, as Philantropy's biggest backer is a Patriot proxy, and Ocelot let Snake live after the Tanker incident.
Because he has the technology to make his dream game and it features BB who he likes writing for more. It's not that he doesn't like making MGS anymore, he just didn't want to continue the story past MGS2. It was meant to have an ending left for the player to interpret.
Metal gear rising 2 secret ending
>mr.director we finally have it
>The last remaining peice of the puzzle
>The weapon to surpass metal gear
"METAL GEAR SOLID"
DUN DUN DUN
The after credits codec in MGS2 still doesn't make sense.
Then explain Fission Mailed, or the fact the game itself is breaking before by throwing away all fucking convential MGS mechanics and turning it into a fucking massacre with a sword.
Explain Snakes Infinite ammo(dont you dare say its just an easter egg, that shit does not fly in a mindfucking game like MGS2)
Also Arsenal has a lot of symbolism. Its Raiden(and the players) essential "rebirth" or "enlightenment"
You start off naked only to find yourself confronted by the most badass fucking Solid Snake you have ever seen.
And holy fuck is he the shit this time around, all suited up, has his iconic bandana, and has a FUCKLOAD more health than you.
He is the ultimate badass.
And theres you, fucking naked pussy Raiden.
But then you get a sword, and start fighting your way out, then you start hearing the truths(your rebirth/enlightenment as a player and raiden for seeing the world differently)
Plant Chapter is a simulation, not VR, it just means it was scripted to play out the way it was EXCEPT for Solid Snake, WHO WAS NEVER A FACTOR OF THE SIMULATION(as said by the colonel)
Arsenal is most likely VR, just look at how fucking eery the ending is. Very few are phased by Arsenal smashing up a huge chunk of NYC.
Most people just walk by as if nothing happened, rose appears out of no where, you dont even know if shes fucking real at this point.
>Then explain Fission Mailed, or the fact the game itself is breaking before by throwing away all fucking convential MGS mechanics and turning it into a fucking massacre with a sword.
thats just breaking the fourth wall, like when the crazy colonel tells you to turn off the game
the game was meta the entire time
YOU are playing the simulation...not Raiden!
Yes yes, we know that you're an uneducated moron who can only spout internet memes because it gets you "cred" with your internet "friends". You don't have to convince us any further. Now fuck off and go sit in the corner squirt.
