Where can Rockstar go from this?
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Vice City again.
>wouldn't mind seeing Vice City again
oh fuck off. we've literally retreaded the same 2 cities for the past 5 games you fucking mongoloid, and now you want to go back to Vice City? Jesus Christ, it's like you have no creativity. You wouldn't happen to work in the game industry would you?
vice city is the only landscape they've yet to re imagine in the "hi def" gta universe. 4 gave us liberty city, 5 gave us san andreas again, 6 has got to be vice city unless they're gonna do something completely new. i wouldn't mind either one. i'd love to go back in time and do an old era in the newer engine if they were willing too.
>The latest round of GTA 6 speculation was kicked off earlier this month by a BallerStatus interview with DJ Whoo Kid. Whoo Kid said that he would be appearing in the next Grand Theft Auto "that takes place in New York again." Liberty City, the fictional equivalent of New York, was the setting for GTA 3 and GTA 4.
Back to Liberty City, sheeple
The GTA equivalent of D.C. is a possibility, with the Detroit-tier slums and all that political power both in one place. Lots of story possibilities.
But it'll probably be a present day Vice City.
What's there to do in Vice City though?
It was fun i nthe 80's but what could they possibly do now? Rockstar seems to have stopped taking us back in time and simply kept making games in current time.
Nothing interesting is happening in Miami in 2014-2015
DC would be awesome, though every GTA always gets some amount of flak for the content and what the players can do and a game set in the Capitol? Would be vilified by the media, I can already see it being called a "Terrorist Simulator".
I would love Chicago, but I think Watch Dogs has ruined that location for any other developer. Baltimore would be neat too, or even something like Atlantic City or New Orleans would be nice.
>GTA outside of America
>Fallout outside of America
You fucking idiots.
I believe it will be London, but a place that would be awesome would be Shangai.
>still no GTA game set in Chicago
Also I wouldn't mind one being in a snowy environment, it was pretty cool having that for a bit in GTA V and I'm sad they didn't utilize it more.
Rockstar said they wouldn't mind revisiting Vice City but they knew that what was so special about it more than the city was the era. So who knows...
But personally I think we might go back to Las Venturas or San Fierro before Vice City. A full fledged Las Venturas would be fucking amazing and full of potential.
they can add an interesting Miami Vice style undercover story. Lower the characters to two protags, bring back night clubs because Miami Duuhh, bring back weightlifting, martial arts, and other remedial things people loved about san andreas because only two characters. Make the customization go in depth as a motherfucker. I'm thinking story wise it would be a vice cop who's friends with an informant and they both kind of scratch each others backs and have a really tight friendship but in the end the difference in their careers would make them go against each other naturally.
Rockstar would actually do it right, honestly.
Looking forward to the bible quotes, though.
It needs to be London. And it needs to just have one protagonist. Couldn't stand that threesome shit in GTA V.
If we aren't getting The Getaway 3, we may as well get GTA 6 London instead.
from the top of my dick:
>set in DC
>character is some political hotshot with a hidden life in the crime world
>set in 80s Vice City
>but old weapons and characters doens't sell games
>set in San Fierro or Las Venturas
>los santos was the best city, though
>Libery City again
>ultra high HD 4K, NEW AWESOME GRAPHICS AMONG SKYSCRAPERS YEAH
They should do that for the next Red Dead game when playing as Jack, hell Red Dead ends a few years before the 20's anyways and showed signs of improving technology so it could work perfectly.
According to the GTA lore, the midwest is a shithole, imagine Detroit, BUT EVERYWHERE.
>tfw haven't played GTA V
>tfw avoided learning anything about the game
>tfw can experience it for the first time the way it was meant to be played
Not even hyped but it could be really enjoyable.
Futuristic GTA 2 followup. Another Vice City would be boring as fuck because Miami only works in the 80s, and the 80s only work for people obsessed with the 80s.
NO MORE JACK PLEASE
Fuck GTA, this series is dull and played out. GTAV wasn't lacking in things to do, it was just that it was the same shit we've done in every game in the series and it's just not that interesting or fun anymore. The novelty of sandbox action games that came with the PS2 era GTA games no longer exists because every single game is one nowadays. More Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne instead would be much more preferable.
>A full fledged Las Venturas
Yeah now that I think about it, GTA V only focused on Los Santos so we still have a 50/50 chance of getting another West Coast map in the next game or going back to the East Coast.
Modern day vice city would honestly be nice if they gave it the same aesthetic and style of this video. None of that neo 80's hipster stuff. Honestly i wouldn't mind if they threw in just a little of it just to appease to them and keep the rage off the internet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7NxopKFB0c
>los santos was the best city, though
Can Rockstar even do GTA not set in the present anymore?
>GTA IV from 2008 set in 2008
>TLAD from 2009 set in 2008
>TBOGT from 2009 set in 2008
>CTW from 2009 set in 2009
>GTA V from 2013 set in 2013
Instead of you fucking with civilians, the civilians fuck with you!
>set in DC
>character is some political hotshot with a hidden life in the crime world
Now this would be interesting
I'm amerifat and I want a GTA in London, 1960's or anything.
GTA V had fun gameplay and city but the story/satire was just lame. God damn, the American Idol/TMZ/Hollywood celeb take, it was like a South Park episode, it felt overdone.
Make it happen and make this guy voice someone
GTA in another country please.
Perhaps a modern GTA London.
If this turns out to be true I'm avoiding the next GTA like a cloud of airborne AIDs. Fuck Liberty City, fuck New York. Most overrated shit setting based on the most overrated shit city in the world.
>tfw they will never set a GTA in Chicago in a world where Chicago is situation around the Niagara Falls and the Niagara Falls are situation between two great lakes so you can jump down the Niagara Falls in a speedboat
>bonus points for 70s and blaxploitation and pimp Cadillacs and lots of afros and funk music
>tfw San Andreas first came out and the size blew you away
>tfw imagining what GTA would be like in the future
>thought all buildings would be fully enterable or the map would cover the whole US
>instead we only get better graphics
San Fierro and Las Venturas are also possible. I wouldn't mind a game focused on robbing Casinos or having it in a single mission at least.
I don't think Vice City would be a good place to return if they aren't also setting it in the 80s.
>islands it could be set on
>massive labyrinth cities
>make guns rarer and more expensive, make close combat and shotguns much more important
>Black Rain style motorbike gangs
>martial arts to master
>the Japanese countryside is gorgeous
>fight in hot springs for some no homo action
Ah, the old "every building will be explorable" dream. I've been thinking about the future of sandboxes having shit like that since playing Driver and hearing that Driver 2 will let you exit your car.
holy shit that actually sounds fucking great.
You'll just get called a weeb though by the plebs. And Japan would probably get super offended from the release of the game because they're xenophobic pricks.
This is what annoys me the most about GTA these days, Rockstar doesn't seem to want to take chances like they did with Vice City and San Andreas and set it in another time period in a completely different city while also maintaining some sense of continuity between the stories.
I say this as someone who genuinely enjoyed IV and V as well, I thought they would be doing more games within V's universe like they did with III and IV.
It's harder than it might seem for every building to be explorable. Moreover, you have to consider if it would actually serve any purpose other than just being there? Certainly, it's realistic, but it's not crucial.
Why would Niagara Falls be near Chicago? It's on the border of New York state and Canada. That whole idea sounds terrible, but I seriously take exception with your severe misunderstanding of geography.
After seeing GTA online and everything that became of it i don't want to see another GTA game.
It's clear Rockstar is going to make a GTA free to play MMO now that they've gotten a taste of dat shark card dosh.
That's cool but if you are going to bother making everything so expansive and well detailed, you might as well space everything out so you have a decent amount of room between everything.
>It's clear Rockstar is going to make a GTA free to play MMO now that they've gotten a taste of dat shark card dosh.
Nah, if they wanted the mad dosh they could just release yearly rehashes of GTA V and they would be gold.
watch the Miami Vice film that came out in 2006 you'll get an idea.
Technically yes, but they won't. Modeling every building takes A LOT of time and money and people. They won't do it. They didn't even model different stores / gas stations in GTA V.
Guys, I have the next setting. It's perfect.
Are you ready?
Grand Theft Auto:
The City's so small that you can finally live that dream of entering and exploring every building!
>still no GTA in Las Vegas
I know we had Las Venturas but I think it would be pretty sweet having a GTA game taking place in the 60s and 70s at the height of the mob's control over the strip.
>digging ditches in the desert
>running your own crime family
>tons of different entertainment
>Underground Nazi Base
>The base is hidden under a Swastika the size of a small city.
noguns bruh, plus there's no gangs or crime syndicates here but the bikies and lebs. would be boring. also, let's be honest, the humour would be Bart vs Australia-tier.
sleeping dogs did asia better
The problem rockstar is facing right now is, they have no real ideas to pull from. if you think about GTA3, vice city, and SA, they were all set during an iconic period for modern day crime. they have nothing to really work with in todays age besides gangster shit, and characters trying to leave a life of crime behind. they need to come up with a way of making the game about becoming a king pin, and running the city.
I definetly have been wanting another Vice City setting again. I've been wanting Hawaii ever since GTA 4.
How can people hate on the GOAT
San Andreas' map is totally accurate, San Francisco and Las Vegas are both only a few hours drive from L.A., they simply got the scale wrong. What you're proposing is putting Chicago next to New York city. Why not throw in Houston Texas to round out this abomination of a map you've concocted?
At any rate, GTAVI should take place in Hawaii.
Are you fucking baiting or something? GTA IV's driving was closer to perfection than in any other title in the series, and GTA V took all the challenge, punishment and reward out of driving again.
>Franklin even has a fucking slow motion mode to appeal to utter fucking casuals
Agreed 100 percent. People who think rockstar would want to create a fictional version of modern Miami are delusioned. Miami is the shittest city I have ever visited. It had appeal in the 80s but the magic is completely gone.
I wouldn't be surprised if GTAVI is set on Vice City, but with just one instead of 3 islands with the rest of the map being nothing but sea. I mean, they did it with San Andreas and retards liked it, no?
Only if it's a early 70's setting
>Lamont moves to Oakland DLC
>GTA VI: San Fierro
>Rockstar makes fun of trustfund babies and SJW faggots
>One of the playable characters is a women who only purpose is to assblas SJWs
>Talkshows about MUH PATRIARCHY AND BEING OPRRESSED
>A GTA style parody of tumblr.
MAke it happen Rockstar
AYO WE BE NEEDIN DEM NIGGAS DOWN IN DA ATL, WHO WIT ME DAWGS
>pay real world money for game money
sure, like how in the real world people come from family money
but think of this, no punishment for killing somebody except it's on your "rap sheet" if they "report" it
your "rap sheet" is publicly available to all players
you can put prices on people's heads, if one guy kills you for no reason, put a price on his head, make dying a bad thing, something that costs you money, or even time, like you die and have to sit out for 30 mins or something
when you team up with somebody for a mission, they can see "hmm, dickman bongster has a price of 10,000 on his head from a guy saying he killed him at the end of a mission and took his share of the money"
and the reports can be removed by that person, or fade to grey after a month to show it was a long time ago, so you could pay somebody to remove a "report" off you
The DC one sounds interesting, but it wouldn't ever come to life. R*'s policy with politicians in GTA seems to be that they instruct others to do the dirty work but never do it themselves, which is a better satire of the U.S. than having the politicians shoot up a store.
A mix of San Fierro, Las Venturas, and Carcer City.
It'll be set in the 70s.
You'll have some thug ass nigger from Carcer, a corrupt cop from San Fierro, and a mob boss from Venturas.
It could work.
>tfw future GTA featuring the entire world dynamically generated from Google Earth
There are many valid reasons to dislike GTA, but rockstar's immaculate attention to detail is never one of them. Captcha: Geout.
>gta set in a cool sci-fI future city illuminate by neon and metal and stuff. It will have a new story, tecnology and weapons with the same gameplay style
>plot twist, the city is actually floating around the Earth and when you win the game, you can pilot the city around the Earth and change time zones in the city like having it night all the time
>10/10 would ride down cyber-highway on my tron bike shooting a Lazer gun at super police
Probably never. Apparently, it's programming was so jury rigged and stitched together that it just barely managed to work correctly on consoles at all. It's the same kind of situation with Dragon's Dogma and why that will likely never get a PC port either.
It really is unfortunate. That game deserves the PC treatment more than any other R* game.
No, Mafia will piss you off even more. I haven't played Mafia 1 but don't let Mafia 2 fool you. It's not a sandbox game. It's set in a sandboxy type location but you don't really get to do any sandobxy things. It's literally a third person shooter disguised as a sandbox GTA-esque game. Do NOT buy if you're looking for the latter, and not the former.
>implying Miami has been relevant any time after the 80's
>implying neo-80's isn't dead and the only people who are the autists who proclaim Drive as the greatest film ever made and Hotline Miami as GOTYAY
As for new ideas, they could always do something about more traditional mobsters in Carcer City.
North and South Carolina.
I'm fine with a female character as long as I can have sweet, pure, virginal, vaginal sex with female prostitutes.
>GTA: Burrito City
>giant gang wars about drugs
>can build your own makeshift tanks for drug runs to the border
>even the police regularly ride around in these things
>all buildings can be entered
>nothing interesting in most of them
>tfw that single player DLC never came out
>tfw Heists (though we finally got some info on it) will probably be delayed again and will most likely suck
>tfw GTA Online could have been the best multiplayer experience ever had they not added in that stupid pay2win system nor removed multiplayer server options like turning off friendly fire
GTA: San Fierro
During the Vietnam War
GTA will probably never leave the USA again, and that's probably a pretty good decision.
I'd love to see a GTA set in Delmarva area. That seems to be the logical conclusion of where the 'HD Universe' series is heading, with its heavy Fed involvement across games.
heres what I'd like to see.
Dallas or Austin
I feel that a Boston or Philly setting would be to similar to Liberty City as would a modern Vice City being to much like Los Santos.
They already said goodbye to that place and canonically flooded
Writers confirmed that won't happen, GTA is now about satirizing America
Wouldn't be too unlikely with now taking on modern day Florida
Why not just create an entirely new city from scratch with elements of different cities around the world?
No, I appreciated Mafia 2 for what it was. A third person shooter set in 1950s New York. What I DON'T appreciate is the game misleading me into thinking it's Grand Theft Auto: Greatest Generation-The Game, when it's anything but.
It is not a sandbox game. It is a decent game, but not a good sandbox game.
Traditional mobsters wouldn't be GTA. It would require the organised crime to be properly organised instead of the pseudo options they gave you in 5 for the 2 heists and then the rest is petty crime or felonies. To make it a GTA game would take away the charm of the setting in which those mobsters lived, and to enact such a setting would place restrictions not acceptable in a GTA game. It's a loss either way.
>writers confirmed that won't happen, GTA is now about satirizing America
Jesus Christ....they've gone full pretentious now. Guess they can count on me buying the sequel never happening again either.
>sweet, pure, virginal, vaginal sex
you couldn't make lesbian sex sound any more boring than that even if you tried
How the fuck were you mislead into thinking that? Damn those developers, getting into your mind and making their game confuse you like that.
>implying Miami has been relevant any time after the 80's
Who the fuck cares "what's relevant"?
Rockstar is going to make up a story and you people are just going to steal cars and shoot people. It's not like it matters one tiny iota.
>GTA in Louisiana (New Orleans)
>all that election rigging
>all that riverboat gambling
>all that swamp land
>all that gang crime
>all that exploration of places destroyed by Katrina
>making it so you can play as a crooked cop like in Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans
for some reason I really want this
>It looks and feels exactly like a GTA game
An open world game with TPS mechanics does not GTA make.
You think you would have known it wasn't GTA the first time you paid a ticket for speeding. In Mafia I.
You can dislike any game you want, but you can't get mad at the game because you projected something onto it.
Satire and story writing is what Rockstar likes to do now. LA and New York are two global powerhouses that make up significant parts of American culture and western today. Florida was similar in the 80's but it's declined since then. Some sort of game set in Texas might work as well since that's another important part of American culture, especially as to how it's perceived outside of America such as to the English dude who writes the series.
MAKE IT HAPPEN
It needs to be set in the entirety of england.
It makes fucking sense. It's a big island surrounded by water, but not HUGE big like Australia is.
They could definately just recreate all of england.
I want to play as an irish gypsie cunt who loves dags and hits buggers up in their gabbers.
I visited there over winter break in 2012, there's a bunch of old jewish folks and college kids as well as nightclubs but it feels kind of bland in a way.
Still they have some fucking delicious stone crabs there.
I call it how I see it. Don't forget this discussion came about because of your little "Holy shit just fuck off" outburst here: >>278972026
So you being mad was always kind of central.
San Fransisco, if you're gonna have a 60s/70s era GTA, rather than just boring ol' Vice City, make it take place in San Fransisco. Just imagine all those amazing car chases on the steep roads. Alcatraz. Chinatown. All that shiiieeet.
>Miami is an utter shithole
So were Los Santos and Liberty City. You're only strengthening the argument that the next one should be Vice.
>most likely a reference to the popular tsunami mod for IV
Holy hell are you trolling me right now? That Tsunami mod came about because of the REAL LIFE FLOODING of NYC. Them mentioning LC being flooded was a reference to IRL events, much like the riots in San Andreas.
>police arrest you for buying plastic knives without ID
>police arrest you for honking without reason in the vincinity of minorities
>poliec arrest you for posting your opinion on the internet
>something men strive for
It's just video games my son
and I want some good fucking even from my lesbians, not some lameass cunny-rubbing
don't bother, it's actually boring and untranslated
also I don't remember
I'd like a GTA set in the 70s. Funky criminals, black people with afros fighting against The Man, funky music, cool cars, San Fransisco, weed, a protagonist with a huge mustache...
But I doubt they'll go back in time again.
I think they love their in-game internet and cell phone so much that they won't leave the post-00s.
>Drive from Edinburgh to liverpool in game
>do pub runs all the way there
>the ending is you getting beheaded by a muslim
GTA III: Liberty City
GTA SA: San Andreas
GTA VC: Vice City
GTAIV: Liberty City
GTAV: San Andreas
It's going to be in Vice City simply because my OCD demands it happen. Whatever comes after it, I don't give a dam. But you don't start some type of alternate universe trilogy like this without fucking finishing it, or else my head might explode.
The question is if GTA will ever abandon the three character system. Rockstar is not one to drop features, unless they're RPG elements, high amounts of customization, weight gain and loss, and stats.
With any luck they'll drop it, it was a cool experiment but it really sacrificed a lot of customization options for the characters as well as weakened the story for Franklin big time.
Trevor and Franklin should have been main characters whom Michael did robberies and other crimes with, it just sort of felt like a chore having to switch between the three of them after a while.
Also I'm not sure if it had any effect on it but I feel like the low amount of heists in single player may have been a result of this three player system.
Set it in the UK.
3 characters, Jason Statham from Lock Stock, Sid Vicious/Punk Rock like guy, Karl Tanner inspired fookin legend from Game of Thrones.
You're a 3 piece punk band shooting up heroin and trying to score record deals. It's 1979 and the new wave/goth cancer is upon us.
>but it really sacrificed a lot of customization options for the characters
What? No it didn't. I'm pretty sure they didn't add weight (and RPG elements originally weren't even in the game) to the characters because they didn't like how it looked with this engine.
And honestly, weight gain needs to stay gone. I'd prefer for RPG elements to stay away, too.
How about an area of the map that mimicked New England?
Forests, moose, whale-watching and so on.
Nah, I've just seen them mentioned like 20 times. Holy fuck, who cares? Just talk about video games, or at the very least, go argue with them on tumblr and let us have our video game threads.
I don't care as long as it has some FUCKING CHEATS.
>"GTA V will have more cheats!"
>No flying cars
>Invincibility only lasts 5 minutes
>Can't turn cops off
>Can't trigger peds riot.
We need a fucking steampunk setting.
You play as a villainous cad, a dastardly rogue, complete with dark cape, black mustache (twirlable, of course), and a black top hat.
You'd be stealing runabouts - no-one will ever know!
The announcement trailer in 2016 will be "GTA VI" in usual black&white block font and then "ce City" will flash at the end in pink neon font, eventually ovetaking the "VI" with the pink neon.
And it'll crash youtube.
Rockstar sucks for not having optional winter servers in GTAO. They added snow for like two days over Christmas/New Years and it was the comfiest thing ever. Especially in the northern part of the map. It looked like Fargo.
>tfw was hoping more of GTA V would take place in that comfy winter setting (and that you could visit it at will) but it never happened
When the fuck is that single player DLC happening anyways?
>there are people who don't understand why GTA takes place in America
Because /v/ has nothing but love for saints row 3 and 4, right?
I'm guessing that it'll be as generic as the last few without anything to really make it stand out, and also like the last few it'll have a recent buzzword to make it "fun".
Probably online missions integrated into the single player, that's my guess.
Yes, but not for the reasons you think: the game's biggest market is barely literate 'mainstream' Americans, who have never been outside their own country, never read a book, never heard of any philosophers or pondered about the rest of the world, its history or indeed their own country's history. The games need to have a setting instantly relatable to them, or else they will literally switch off immediately and go play CoD.
As for the rest of the world, America IS a foreign country and therefore slightly less mundane. For people who've been playing these games for decades, however, this shit is really starting to get old. The satire doesn't bite any more, the need to keep the retards from losing interest is too great.
That's not groundbreaking. Saints Row has been doing it since 2, and a female protagonist in an open world game has been done by Mercenaries.
My money is on environmental destruction or a really in-depth mechanic returning, like the empire system.
>you will never spend 2 hours circumnavigating the game world
>you will never get lost in a peyote trip in the middle of the Mojave desert
>you will never turn Alcatraz into a fortified base on a multiplayer server
Probably never. I guess The Lost and the Damned and the Ballad of Gay Tony did abysmally for the amount of money put in development for those dlcs, so Rockstar would rather just keep making GTAO cosmetic shit.
Sure, I thought groundbreaking for a GTA game... but of course, you could play a woman in GTA1, so I'm screwed either way.
Dunno about environmental destruction though. I have my doubts that the new consoles would be up for it, without seriously limiting the other parts of the game.
Perhaps a branching story, that really creates huge differences depending on how you play instead of being a simple yes/no answer at the end. Sorta like in Witcher 2.
I can't recall any sandbox game doing that.
They're certainly hoping to earn more from online than they did from the earlier expansions. I think they outright said that they wanted to focus on that instead of new single-player stuff.
A shame that online isn't good.
Visually, isn't Miami basically LA with more shoreline? I think maybe they'll do New York again next, and Vice City after that. I feel like the gameplay is almost secondary and they just want to make more and more accurate representations of real cities, and NY is like some kind of world capital
It'll be Carcer City. The 'rust belt' theme is relevant.
>Carcer City is the setting of Manhunt, a non-GTA Rockstar game which features mass murderer/vigilante James Earl Cash as its protagonist. Carcer City is a decayed and crime-ridden city located in close proximity to Liberty City. It is depicted as having a dysfunctional and corrupt police force and large swaths of neglected and abandoned neighborhoods that have become overrun by violent gangs.
>Being an extreme caricature of a Rust Belt city, Carcer City appears to have taken inspiration from Camden, New Jersey; Flint and Detroit, Michigan; East St Louis, Illinois; and Gary, Indiana. It is implied that Carcer City was a booming industrial center in its past before it became crippled by crime and depression.
>References are made to Carcer City in the Grand Theft Auto World, and GTA car models are seen in the Manhunt games, confirming that Carcer City exists within the same continuity as GTA, with the events of Manhunt likely being part of the 3D Universe, as well as the HD Universe. A news segment from Grand Theft Auto III describes Carcer City as being "nearby" Liberty City.
>Carcer City is located several miles away from Liberty City, possibly in Liberty State, Alderney State or another state from Midwest or North East Coast. There is a polluted river located in the city that catches on fire, a reference to the Cuyahoga River. The terrain is mostly flat aside from surrounding hills that house the wealthier neighborhoods. Not much else is known or revealed about the environment in Carcer City. Also, Carcer City isn't specified in which part of the east coast it could be, but might be in the northern part of Liberty State due to the existence of the Shoreside Vale's tunnels that leads somewhere in the northern part of Liberty State or it could a be a mocking of the seedy side of Philadelphia similar to Camden, NJ.
Dan Houser himself thinks GTA should stay in America
>He said this post GTA: London you turds
And that if they come up with a new setting, it'd probably be a new ip or something
It was the second last game to feature it as a setting. Fuck that, Liberty City is shit, it's so boring and plain. I want more GTA's like SA and V with some actual landscape space and diversity.
Yeah, and Red Faction 1 did it in 2001, but it didn't have the same shit going on as GTA5.
Like I said, if GTA has to have destructible environments to the point where you can blow holes in walls and in the ground and shit, then they have to scale down something else.
They don't even have buildings you can enter ('cept for a very, very few ones). It would take too much to have good destruction, and the looks of GTA5, and the same AI, and the amount of shit on screen, etc. If they did it, it'd be on a smaller scale, like having a couple of bridges you could destroy or smokestacks or something.
They can include surrounding areas like in V. Don't know if the terrain is that interesting though, is there anything cool around New York? Keep in mind the real life equivalent of that lake in V is like sixty miles from Los Angeles, so they can reach around quite a bit
I-I don't know if I could handle that
The only reason they continue to choose the settings that they do is because those are the kinds of stories they want to tell. All the games are about American stories and American themes because that is what resonates with the writers. You'll never see a GTA London unless they sell out.
Need blacks vs police corruption/brutality
GTA is getting way too stale and need something controversial. Fuck characters like Michael and Trevor as main character. I can't relate to a fat middle age guy who lives in a big ass mansion and do yoga. If you can relate to Trevor, you need help. Franklin is protagonist material but too bad his character is bland as fuck.
>GTA is getting way too stale and need something controversial.
No they don't. GTA isn't any less "edgy" than it was when it first came out. The problem is that you've grown so accustomed to what it brings to the table.
Rockstar just needs to do Rockstar instead of going out of their way to be edgy.
I get where you're coming from. It's GTA though so I doubt they'll use anything very exotic as a setting. If nothing else, it will be interesting to see the next leap with the game engine and level of detail in the city, like going from PS2 to PS3. The first person mode in V is probably foreshadowing something
IV will be like ten years old when the next one comes out, will it still hold up well then? Plus a whole new generation of gamers who probably haven't even played IV. And I think New York maybe represents America to them in a way so I feel like they'd want it to be the setting for the next official leap on a new gen. V doesn't really count I think. Dunno I'm just speculating shit. In any case there will be some new landmarks too by the time the next game would come out, like the new WTC is finished, plus those new super tall skinny towers by Central Park, Times Square is different etc.
>Do the older ones hold up or should I start with a newer entry?
Not if you've played the later ones, but I imagine they'd feel and play okay if you're new. I suggest play them in chronological order.
I have a hard time getting back into the older ones after playing V
Yeah, you try and tell me that GTA5 was a story that they just "had to tell" with a straight face. That shit is hacked together from every dissonant trope in the book as a vehicle (no pun intended) for side missions and activities which have nothing to do with the main narrative thrust (chiefly because there simply isn't one).
Thread is almost dead, but in any case, what about the characters? I like the switching mechanic in V, I'd like to see it again. I'm thinking like a Bonnie and Clyde type couple with some kind of Catalina type psycho lady, would be the first woman protagonist too but with a man as a backup
Not a GTA game, but given their success with the Wild West in the past, I'd be perfectly willing to give a Rockstar medieval sandbox game a shot.
Alternatively, go into the future. Laser guns, robots, stealing flying cars and shit.
