Can't wait until the game gets more popular and then /v/ will suddenly hate it.
I'll at least be happy knowing I'm not one of those faggots.
I still appreciate Minecraft for fucks sake. It's not as fun as it used to be, but that's because I played it a lot already.
PRAISE KARRAS AND THE BUILDER
WE ENTER THE METAL AGE NOW
fags tried to hate the game on day 3 cause some youtubers started to play it
they were totaly and completly ignored, it was amazing
Make it more stable so it doesn't lose contact at first
Also I have no creativity
2 layers of wheels per wheel
outer wheels are your forward back
inner wheels are turning
make the right inner wheels forward = left and back = right
make the left inner wheels forward = right and back = left
YOU CAN PUT GODS ON SWIVEL JOINTS MATES
>Implying Electronic Arts could make a game this good.
It still needs some revisions.
Poor Rexie still trips over!
Just fixed to both ends while webm converted. Same result.
And here's an older machine I made (I was too retarded make a webm of it yesterday)
why cant this shitcopter break? it's been flying for like 5 minutes and it stopped only because it got stuck between walls
btw tips on making low size webms?
EA = Early Access
that explains the quality BF4 had when launched
>tfw trying to contain a 22 circular saw-engine
>muh chaos engine
>muh terrible construction skills
>you guys don't understand, cogs are terrible ;-;
Wow. People like you should not play these kind of games. Seriously, you're like a 5 year old slamming the cube in the triangle form and cries if it doesn't work.
>NOBODY calls an early access game, "EA".
is this nigga for real?
Whats the trick to the cannon bomb launcher?
whats am I doing wrong here?
im not that guy but i use 3 wheels on top of eachother. the most inner one on each side is used for turning (so opposite spin on for left/right side of your vehicle), the outer two on both sides are same direction for backwards/forwards
I think that guy who posted them should go there. He's complaining cogs are useless when he clearly doesn't understand basic construction.
Why hate on something if you're too retarded to actually test anything? Let other people who do know their shit test this and stop whining if your shitty construction doesn't work.
Continuing my study on engines, I find that in a practical mount the single fixed sawblade is only marginally less powerful than a quad flexible mount, however it's startup shock is considerably rougher, requiring extra bracing to prevent destruction of the airframe.
Gears on swivel joints work better than this guys design. >>282587232
Slowly but surely converting chaos to more and more cogs
My guess is that when you release the grabbers, the bombs are immediately grabbed again due to sitting on top of the grabbers. Try placing the bombs on top of a regular block and putting their grabbers on top of the bombs or the sides.
Made something to harness the CE's power based on >>282586974
>tfw you didn't get how steering worked the first time it was necessary
Nobody has been completely right so far:
you have to move the cannons a block closer, so that when they tilt up, the muzzle is pressing against the bomb. Then, you need to bind the same button to release the grabber and fire the cannon.
Anyone notice this? Could be very useful.
Putting it on a swivel joint spins it at the same
speed as the swivel. I.E. welding to a swivel joint.
Let's just call this a Cog Engine.
probably because /v/ was calling for low friction blocks for ballistas and what not
this will be perfect for anything that has a launching mechanism. glad they did this, a good quick fix
Protip: If a widely known company uses an acronym as its name, using that acronym for something else and expecting everyone to immediately know what you're talking about means you're retarded.
Do I need to glich the cannon into place or am I doing this wrong
thanks in advance
>Fixed blocks being built whilst clicking on a UI element
Am I retarded, or is it actually quite hard to make a basic thing that steers well? If I use the steering block it clips on the blocks it's attached to, and the hinge is too flimsy and wobbly. Am I missing something obvious?
when will there be a torrent?
and no, i cant support and afford a 7$ game, thats how shity life is in my town/country
here's my proof of concept
shitty though, gears move too smoothly to make single increments, need to add friction
As a mechanical engineer, things I wish the dev. would change to the editor:
-Rotate any individual block
-Change the initial angle of any hinge, joints, etc
-Change the initial extension of suspensions, pistons, etc
-Spinning blocks and drive blocks do not exert an equal amount of torque on either end
-Toggles to view phantom images for where center of mass, center of thrust, etc, rest. (e.g. Kerbal)
-Some sort of I/O control block (Let's say an "inner-ear" mechanism regulated internally with water-chambers, a-la Al Jazari) for self-regulating mechanisms
That's all I can think of right now.
So, chaos engines seem to work just as well with boulders as they do with fire balls.
Good to know for those designs which are prone to catching fire.
>someone will make a functional clock.
I think I'm done with this thing for now, it's far from perfect but it works. And you only need 2 buttons to control it.
Time to check that update out.
...more on chaos engines, 4 ballast blocks (for a total of 2.0 weight) gives identical output on a 4 blade flexible mount engine as a conventional fireball chaos engine. As the weight increase, so does the power from the engine, until it hits a point where the connection between the weight and the blades breaks from too much torque. There is most likely a sweet spot in terms of weight to number of saw blades, I suspect the highest power can be attained using fewer than 4 blades.
Im a retard, so i cant make WebMs, but if you add more cogs, it balances the power from the first two jittery cogs at the 90 degree angle and swivel joint.
>thinking safety is more important than looking badass
i am a collage studen, my parents bought a flat 7 y ago and we were fine for 4 years, than they cut my moms paycheck by 30% and the bak increased our loan (due to swiss currency) and now we can even pour gas in the car
A nuclear deterrant for the modern age...
Anyone tried savediting new secret blocks in?
or play with some of the new floats?
I would but I still dotn have the steam version.
well i built a CE flyer with dynamic propellers, but it produces so much fucking torque its unusable.
its the definition of torque steer.
i would like a flying block that could actually lift something. maybe adjust the max speed of the flying block to 10 instead of 1.5
Play at 50% speed when making flying stuff and learn what keeps in the air. Then you can start to bring it back up to 100% and have a good understanding of keeping it up.
Or 45, or 30, or 60, or 90.
Basically I'm trying to work on a solution to two-legged walking in this game, and the limitation of initial joint configurations is severely limiting.
But Anon, that looks so boring and safe.
I was doing it wrong
this works with the grabber and cannon bound to the same key
Clear cut example of someone who copies other people creations (Chaos Engine), doesn't know how the fuck shit works and then complains it's not working like it should, when actual creative minds did it correctly soon after.
Don't be this guy /v/.
So so far - Cogs don't really need swivel joints but work better with them. The main problem I have so far is power transfer from a cog to a wheel. Any good idea how to do that? If so I will have my CE powered race car.
>What if Michael Bay was born in the Middle Ages: the game
How can we learn to build cool shit on here if we don't co-operate? Amirite?
>I have a gaming computer but I'm poor I swear
If you're really in such dire straits you should probably be off working instead of sitting on your ass pirating video games you stupid fuck.
it's worth the 8 bucks as it stands now. well worth it.
if you don't like design/construction or puzzle games then maybe stay away, but if you're the kind who likes to tinker with things then this game scratches that itch.
>pirating a $7 game
>thinks he can afford a VPN
To be a respectable member of society and not a degenerate.
Or my personal reason, to get the game before they bump the price up and to get updates asap with easy access to .bsg files from the Workshop
Already got my BS.
Finishing my MS right now.
Took a ton of electives to cross-over though; machine vision, robotics, electronics & instrumentation.
I work right now as an educator in robotics, until I can find something better.
>37 posts without a webm
GET IT TOGETHER YOU FUCKS
Different guy. Here's my basic base for mobile vehicles.
The wheels are not directly aligned with each other, the back wider than the front, as well as the back being more heavily braced to the frame.
I just said he was an idiot. Which he clearly is.
I never said my creations are good or anything, they're just some basic mechs on wheels, a trebuchet and a flying machine that you can rudimentarily steer.
Or are you that guy anon? Pissed that people realised you're an idiot?
don't be that guy anon
working on that railgun
I got an aiming system up and running, all that's left now is to make a firing mechanism
ignore the fag in the corner he's just being a nigger
Nigga, getting your MS is still technically in school. You don't need to announce the fact that you're an engineer in the future, I'm sure a good bit of the people in these threads are the same.
>Fixed blocks being built whilst clicking on a UI element
That pissed me off all the time. And the deleting of blocks
But I always wished I could have figured out how to exploit that consistently, since It let you place blocks in empty space way the fuck away from everything else.
IS there a way to actually do that otherwise?
No sign of aerodynamics being made better?
No traction added?
Nice to see patches though!
reposting my lightcycle concept
>A Weapon to Surpass Metal Gear: The Game
Would it be considered a real crime if you stole that. Because fuck, i would.
>man charged with theft for hijacking a pizza from parking lot
Cogs work pretty well when making axles. This thing is only wobbly because it's a proof of concept and I didn't bother with actually making it sturdy/efficient. I wish there were bigger wheel options, the cogs are bigger than all of the currently available wheels.
>cuts the webm off before flutterguy can tell us what file he was looking for
Well i made this but its really shit since it needs lots of space, its heavy and unstable
>actually cut the bike lock instead of just tearing the pizza off
These are great threads, and I really enjoy seeing what everybody builds
<3 you, /v/
>Leonardo da Vinci's wetdreams simulator 2015
Im sorry. But im going to be the first tripfag.
This design seems to be the most stable.
They've already touched it. Its too hard to implement. Do you have any idea how hard it would be to properly make the physics work across different latencies etc? Also it would melt everyone AND their mothers CPU
Co-op is a too small niche to be added as well.
I kinda understand you wanting to get credit for your work, but tripfagging is not the way to go anon. You'll just get shit on and derail the thread eventually.
I know you mean well, but like you said, people can be dicks.
Dude that is a horrible base for wheeled vehicles
Getting physics to sync up across a network connection is difficult, AND the game is unoptimized as fuck, AND it's made in Unity, which is both a shit engine in its own right and has shit netcode.
We may be able to convince him to add splitscreen, since it'd still be one computer doing all the calculations and wouldn't be terribly different from single-player, but online multiplayer couldn't be done without remaking the game in a proper engine with online multiplayer being a priority from the start.
I'm excited about the new blocks, but I still haven't touched some of the pieces from before the update (like flying).
for what its worth, hopefully this doesn't go the way of KSP
but there's no reason whatsoever for him to use it
anyone who cares can just realize that "Oh these two pictures show the same machine, i bet the same guy posted them"
no one gives a shit what you made, who are you even proving something to? and even then, you're tripfagging in posts where you aren't posting anything worthwhile so what's the point
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON
>SHITPOSTING AT AN ALL TIME HIGH
>WEBM POSTING AT AN ALL TIME LOW
WHAT HAPPENED TO BESIEGE THREADS
Alright, I've removed the central propeller to see if the legs can move its full weight, needed to add a tail though because that prop was acting as a gyro. How do I speed webms up? I want to see this at full speed.
We wanted bearings, eh? Well, cogs work kinda like them. If you're more creative then me.
You shouldn't need to prove you made shit. Your creations should be judged on their own merits, not "well that's not really that impressive but he made that one really cool thing a long time ago so I'll go ahead and say it's awesome."
How is this any different from people taking trips in order to prove they made certain posts or hold certain opinions? You just crave attention.
Perhaps Reddit would be a better venue for you if you care about personal credit so much.
Well, that doesn't look very efficient at all. Also that isn't even real walking, it uses the propellers to pull itself.
Can't you get something out of the design this anon >>282589673 posted and make it work on a bigger scale?
No matter what bullshit you guys make, this will always be my favorite one.
No the cool thing is the power source. Its my own original creation, it has a lot of torque! I call it the Chaos Field
stack wheels and delete them one at a time, putting saws in their place
I don't blame you for asking because it's not nearly as intuitive as things like steering systems, ridiculous how many people can't figure that one out
>mfw I've always been shit in everything involving arts and imagination and I can't even imagine me doing the most simple of the things on this game.
i sorta know this feel, it's not the imagination, it's the machinery/technical aspect of it for me personally. i just don't really have that tick inside of me that really processes how things "work" on a technical level like that, especially not enough to make something new that functions well
