Let's fix that.
A-anon... a Valentine's day card? For me?
You're so sweet!
And a box of chocolates! I love you, anon.
I'm literally playing Metroid Fusion now for the first time. I think I'm almost done, just beat Ridley.
How the fuck was he the easiest boss so far?
I guess, but I was hoping we could stay away from the waifu stuff.
That's why I wanted to talk about cool video games instead of thinking about it.
>implying you even need to bring Sakamoto into it
All you need to do is speak the following words:
Where did Metroid Prime come from?
Ah, yeah, that is the root of a lot of those arguments.
>122 days until E3
I can practically taste that metroid announcement right about now.
It's just that Retro's idea of the metroid universe is intrinsically different than Japans, at least post Zero Mission.
I still say the "metroids are new" and "mother brain is Samus's adoptive mother" are just incredibly bad decisions.
My theory is that Phaaze itself must have found one somehow.
That, or the leviathan somehow picked one up from Zebes. Like Prime 3 said, the Leviathan picks the strongest being available to be its Core Guardian.
I don't know how it makes sense, but hey, your guess is as good as mine.
I posted this in a Metroid thread yesterday, but needed to rephrase it.
If a Metroid game comes out that takes place after Fusion, will Samus continue working alongside the Galactic Federation. At this point they aren't on the best of terms
>Samus discovers illegal Metroid breeding on the Bottle Ship, which leads to Adam's death
>Discovers another Metroid breeding lab on the B.S.L. station and later forces the station to collide and destroy itself and SR-388 so the GF couldn't try to weaponize the SA-X
Isn't weaponizing dangerous creatures something the Space Pirates do? How is the GF considered the "good guys" at this point?
>I still say the "metroids are new" and "mother brain is Samus's adoptive mother" are just incredibly bad decisions
Yeah, agreed. I really don't think the manga adds anything positive to the Metroid canon- everything it introduced was covered better in the games.
d-don't worry, next year is the 30th Anniversary
surely Shinya Takahashi and Tanabe will deliver just in time for it.
>Prime Hunters 2 and Metroid Dread will never happen
>Perhaps a dead race getting it's revenge on the chozo that fucked them over
Please, don't give the "Prime = Halo" idiots any ammunition.
Of course, they needed them to power the totally-not-Mother-Brains.
Ah fuck, That didn't hit me, sorry.
Still, the husks remind me a bit of Lilith from Eva. like something that died and from it's blood emerged life, especially being inside the "genesis chamber" in an impact crater like area.
Hey guys is there any way to get metroid fusion on an original wii? I've got it hacked or whatever you wanna call it. I've installed a couple wads of old games. I injected master quest into an oot wad, so I kinda know what I'm doing, but I can't find anything out about metroid fusion except for wii u.
Barring being able to launch it from the channel menu, which is the best gba emulator on wii?
/vg/ is for threads that are on the front page 24/7. Metroids threads happen sporadically, and generally take a pretty long time to hit bump limit. Whenever Metroid threads have tried moving to /vg/, they've just petered out in a few hours and died. We'd need more fans and some fresh topics to discuss.
Honestly, I'd like it if Samus started her own organization of hunters to put an end to all illegal Metroid activity, even if it means fighting the GF. If they already had two Metroid labs, there are probably more out there. Maybe even get pic related as part of her crew.
>impervious to all of Samus' weaponry, even power bombs
>held the Great Temple against the Ing singlehandedly, despite being unbelievably outnumbered
Is there anyone in the Metroid universe that could stop U-Mos?
It's my head canon that there is some specific legal thing that prevents the G-fed from just finding some bullshit to arrest her and reverse engineering her power suit.
Given that the G-fed have canon not done jack shit with Chozo inhabited planets, there must be some piece treaty that keeps them away from chozo planets and something that would prevent them from just taking her tech.
That aside, I don't think Samus would be mercilessly hunted after fusion, there would be a cover up to avoid corruption getting leaked and a lot of effort to prevent her making an outcry against the Gfeds military core.
>Honestly, I'd like it if Samus started her own organization of hunters to put an end to all illegal Metroid activity
That's a pretty good idea for an open-world Metroid, but the idea would have to be executed perfectly for it to work. Too many ways screw it up.
Uh, no, that's pretty clearly Metroid running away from some dragons.
The "specific legal thing" is probably the fact that Samus would cause casualties that would probably number in the millions if the G-Fed was ever stupid enough to openly attack her.
My headcanon is that the G-Fed from Retro's games and Sakamoto's G-Fed are two branches, one that's specifically for retards with pointlessly evil plans and another that's for cool guys.
I don't think the power suit is that OP in it's own right, the advanceness is that it has the ability to absorb technology and transfer matter into energy and vice versa. Without absorbing the right tech her armor mainly just holds a powerful defensive advantage.
G-fed still have enough of an edge to handle space pirates, which can still take quite a beating even by Chozo made beam weapons, I wouldn't under estimate them or believe they'd be unable to defeat Samus. Remember, humans aren't as dumb as priates when it comes to reasoning.
>two branches, one that's specifically for retards with pointlessly evil plans and another that's for cool guys
So, the Metroid equivalent of Slytherin and Gryffindor?
I can just imagine some recruit at the end of basic training chanting "not Dickbag Corps, not Dickbag Corps", before the Sorting-Hat-Tron 3000 says "DICKBAG CORPS".
>playing metroid echos for the second time
first time i stopped at the point where you first got to the dark world because i thought it would be too hard. it's honestly not that daunting once you actually go about doing it
>mfw get to the dark samus boss
really a step up from the bosses in MP1
Might as well post this in here: I recently had a random dream about Metroid. Found myself playing [what I assumed was] a Zero Mission-type remake of Metroid 2. Nothing really lengthy, but I found myself in a cyberpunk-meets-lava area (think Pirate Homeworld combined with Norfair) and after somehow dodging lots of enemies, climbing about a hundred floors and discovering, what I assumed, was, the top of a spire I had this satisfying feeling of playing a game that was fair in its [harder] difficulty, but reminiscing of my first time playing the original or Super.
If there ever was to be a new handheld Metroid, I worry whether I'll get that vibe or Nintendo will just find a way to fuck it up and lose the
dreadof being in an alien environment.
Real talk, why are Zeta and Omega metroids such shit designs?
do you guys like metroid prime 2?
the difficulty is much higher with way cooler boss battles than prime 1, and I loved the different take with the light/dark suits on the usual stuff
Get your eyes checked.
How do I get into prime?
I've tried playing it like 5 times... I get about an hour in and then stop playing, for various reasons... and then I just can't get back into it so I just keep restarting and then getting to the same space and then stopping..
I prefer the 2D ones way more.. I wish there were more 2Ds..
I appreciate a lot of the things they tried in Echoes, and the bosses were certainly memorable, but the repetitive and comparatively bland world design kind of killed it for me. Dark Aether was genuinely stressful the first few times, but after that it was just annoying.
That looks like shit m8.
It had a good idea going when the larva flipped upside down, became and alpha, and then grew legs.
Then out of nowhere, Dinosaur xeno-morph rip-off, then a bigger one.
It's the best of the Prime trilogy imho (and I'm sure people would gladly contest that/call me a faggot):
>better World levels/areas
>better implementation/delivery of plot & backstory
>lore was a lot more interesting and feel-inducing
>Space Pirates took a surprising but well-delivered comic relief-like turn in their placement
>neat delivery of Samus' character/personality via body language and actions (dead GF soldier segment & end scene most notably)
Baitfriend, please take your inflammatory statements elsewhere.
Damnit anon, the moment you reply to a shitposter you lose. Just ignore him, it's the only way.
I want a real Metroid 0. A game that takes place before Metroid where Samus is just starting out and hasn't gotten most of her upgrades or confronted the Space Pirates/Metroids yet. Hell it could even build to the first ever encounter with them since in Metroid 1/Zero mission they're already regarded as a massive threat. I just want a game that is about some honest to goodness bounty hunting.Fuck, stick Adam's real sacrifice in their so we know why he's not around for the rest of the series and we can finally throw Other M in the trash.
Maybe visit different planets to recruit new members, along with the usual exploring, starting off with a trip back to Aether to discuss her plan with U-Mos. The guy owes her a lot after she saved their whole planet singlehandedly, but I have a feeling he would be wise and join with little hesitation, naming a new Sentinel in the process.
Metroid Zero Mission is an excellent remake of the original and will you throw you right into the series without the struggle of playing a dated, yet hardcore NES game.
Than play Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion
Than play the Metroid Prime Trilogy.
After Zero Mission, play Super Metroid and Prime, preferably the Prime Trilogy. After that give Fusion a go. Metroid II is okay but it's aged pretty bad, check out AM2R, a fantastic fan project remake of II still in development but has a good chunk of play that brings in little bits of all the best metroid games..
Whatever you want from the top row.
Yeah, but they were retconned out in later releases of the game, so they're no longer considered canon.
I didn't authorize this thread....
Why didn't the Federation ever try recreating Metroid Prime as a part of their cloning program?
FUCK this game's platforming! Is there a way to look down while I'm moving?!
If I need to move and aim at the same time I typically try to jump (While jumping your'll keep moving in the direction you wanted) and hold R to aim.
If no enemies are around to lock onto, pressing L can also lock you to face in the direction you choose. So you could hold R, aim, hold L, let go of R, start moving.
I guess I can see why it would be hard or inconvenient, but after awhile your'll become accustomed to it. I love the Prime series and I've mastered moving and aiming at the same time.
I absolutely love the GCs controls, but I hate the Wii controls. But I acknowledge most players don't wanna deal with the weird fuckery of trying to aim like this.
I hear Z-factor is one of the best.
Phazon hack if you want an entirely different aesthetic with custom sprites.
Super ZeroMission is neat because it combines the sprites of both games and makes it's own.
because i've been playing MP1 for the first time AFTER playing MP3 the controls were super weird. especially fast-paced combat with multiple enemies that surrounding around you is tedious but i've become accustomed to it by now.
I acknowledge their approach of not using the C-stick to aim like conventional FPS games, but the lack of easy look/aim control is a bit detrimental. Considering getting Trilogy for WiiU for when i play MP2. i liked the waggle control in MP3.
Other M isn't canon and the B.S.L station was ran by a shadow branch of the Federation.
I'm not a fan of the Federation breeding Metroid's though, I liked having one Sci-fi franchise where the government isn't evil.
What do you guys think about the idea that Samus' Powersuit were more a Mecha than armor?
Do you think it would make arm cannons, missile container and other stuff more plausible or is ancient birdpeople sciencemagic the whole charme of it?
The chozo thing was covered in Prime by the pirates (not counting how Other M had the Federation remake Mother Brain but 1000x smaller somehow). Not even the best scientists can reverse engineer that shit to any practical level, they can kinda figure some of it out but most of it is too confusing.
>That entry about the morph ball.
that's how i thought of it the first time i played through metroid
you get to ridley, a motherfuckin dragon, and you're about just as tall as he is. so i figured the suit was at least a 10-12ft tall mech of some sort
Didn't they try to reverse engineer Samus' suit and used what little they found out to apply the tech to their soldier's armors? They kinda look like they were built after the powersuit in Prime 3 and they also gave Samus upgrades that were compatible with the suit.
The Old log's don't refer to it as a metroid but something the pirates call metroid prime, as in the pirates are unsure where it came from. They were able to contain it for a bit but it stole their tech which is why it has your beams.
This was retconned so that Cypher couldn't be entered by the pirates, which means you have to assume it either came with the meteor or a metroid got through cypher.
Both concepts are inconsistent, the later being more likely, the former being what was probobally what Retro wanted since Phazon in the games beta was supposed have been metroid honey.
Pirates aren't too bright and knew that they'd need to capture her to get the suit for analysis reasons.
Samus is clearly a federation citizen, it would be incredibly easy for them to pull a "serve your nation" bullshit and capture her.
>They also gave he upgrades that were compatible with the suite
Power suit can merge with non-chozo tech, they likely just had the PED tech on hand and the suit naturally bonded with it.
doesn't mean they understood the bird magic concepts of it.
This pretty much covers it:
I'm playing through Prime 1, my first Metroid game and having a blast so far. Just got the Boost Ball and I want to just go running around all the maps messing around with it like I do every upgrade. I'm a little sad I didn't get into this series when it was recent but later's better than never.
Should I play Super Metroid or Prime 2 after I finish Prime 1?
As i remember PED tech was still experimental but they actually made Samus' version specifically fit her suit, so i guess they know enough about it to make their shit compatible with it.
The powersuit doesn't adapt to every tech.
fucking bird magic, seems to work better than megaman's buster
>trying to delete your post after getting rused by a blatant troll image
I saw, Anon. We all saw.
So I'm playing through Prime now that I got the Trilogy for 10 bucks on Wii U, and I just got the Power Bombs, but the boss guarding them was invisible. Did I fuck up? Did I need to look for the X-Ray visor before going down into the mines?
its depthless and all you do is 2 hit the pirates
I don't think he's supposed to be invisible, but I could be wrong. did it seem like he should be visible?
Nah you're supposed to fight him that way, and even if you did sequence break it isn't much of a big deal, prime is pretty good about that shit, adds replay value if you ask me.
>the boss guarding them was invisible. Did I fuck up?
No, he's supposed to be that way. He's actually the only boss that you can't scan. You can't even get the X-Ray visor without Power Bombs.
Thats because samus has a simple and satisfying look to her, making her easy to draw. A lot of non-metroid fans draw Metroid art just because its nice to draw.
It explains all the fan art that totally goes against all established lore like Samus standing in a room full of different power suits or surrounded by Metroids that are the wrong size
this is my last one, my dump of repentence for falling for a blatantly obvious troll image is over
I'm not trying to troll Metroid fans, but this has to be your darkest timeline. Samus is forever ruined by Other M. She has a personality now, and it's that. That's precedent; the strongest precedent out there really.
>a bunch of great games that all sell pretty well
>then a single shitty one that receives relatively low critical scores, and sells very poorly
Seems like it could be a lot darker. At the very least, I'll hold judgement until we see what Nintendo has planned for the next game.
NO FEAR! NO PAIN!
UNLESS WRITTEN BY SAKAMOTO!
I respect Other M because, even though it was a dumpster fire, it was the first Metroid game that actually set out to have a slightly complex narrative structure. Even though it sucked and blew up in their face, I don't think it's inherently bad to try.
Should I make an in deapth Other M analysis rant video, or has it been already done to death?
I know its been done quite a bit but I was considering making it upwards of an hour or so long, try to cover as many ideas as possible
Until proven otherwise, I'll stick to my own canon that Other M Samus was a defective GFed clone of the original Samus hard-wired to blindly obey the orders of her superiors.
Trying is admirable, but not if you do it with such an ass-backwards approach. If someone is trying baseball for the first time, and they can't hit for shit, fine, they tried. If someone steps up to the plate and starts swinging a golf club, they do not get any points for effort.
They're an invasive species, though.
Hey guys this is OP. I'm going to bed. You can keep t going, but I assume someone will archive it soon.
See you guys next mission.
