in Hack and Slash it's mostly 'hit in the general direction of the monster' or 'avoid obvious move list of the monster then hit in the general direction'. in this game, most monsters are just chilling, want nothing to do with you and you have to find a way to get their attention, then you have to find away to get on top of them, then play a mini platforming section on their bodies to find the weak spots, then hang for dear life as they try to shake you off so you don't have to go through all of that again.
The reason people like the game is because you're in a barren wasteland full of legends. It's fun to explore. It's just not your cup of tea if you need
>"tiny colossi" to fight in the "empty world."
I really dont understand how you think this validates your opinion and makes the game shit. They accomplished exactly what they set out to do. You act like it wasn't intentional that the world they build is empty.
>>283690675 The game was not made for you, therefore it is shit. Either lacking the mental capacities to judge, or the maturity or simply the interest in a specific matter, you are 100% correct and justified to slander things you don´t understand or care about. Stay strong and make the world better by sharing your disdain with it.
The music is beautiful and timeless, the overworld is very well done and beautiful too, the gameplay while not complex was innovative and riding Aggro around that vast and beautiful land fighting giant stone creatures was just amazing. It might be overrated but so is every popular game and that doesn't mean anything.
If you didn't like maybe it's not your style of game, you know, not everyone is equal, you should be able to understand this.
>>283695195 You should give Dormin more credit. Also, I'm not the only one that thinks Dormin is not an individual, but a collective, like the people that possibly inhabited that place and were sealed by God.
>>283695756 I never actually did that, just seemed too much effort. Apparently there are "bad fruits" there? Permanently reducing your health.
Also, on the subject of content, it's a shame they never implemented the Dam. Even if there was no Colossus to fight, could be something interesting to explore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvpcwR7Omdg
beautiful graphics for it's time first game that utilized bosses for platforming haunting and melancholic atmosphere
there's more to it than the gameplay which in itself might not really be that special but it's the whole feeling the game creates like how the travel sequences between bosses calm you down so fights feel way more intense it's beautiful in it's simplicity and consistency
but some people are going to say "feeling" or "atmosphere" are buzzwords and the only thing that matters is gameplay they probably also think that games can't be art and that's pretty sad
Don't kid yourself, there is still yet to be a game that has created creatures as large as the colossi and done them well. For a PS2 game this game beats 90% of the shit that is out on the market today, both in atmosphere and gameplay.
Because you actually feel small when and almost powerless fighting them. Each boss is like trying to solve a moving puzzle. As opposed to other games you just hack away at their feet, or you're on a chest high platform with you hacking away at their arms when the try to smash you. Also that OST.
