Why are you such a bully /v/? These people spent almost 4 years making a video game and you are killing it before it comes out without you even playing it.
When Resident Evil 2 came out it had more cutscene time than gameplay. Claire and Leon campaigns both lasted 2 hours and everyone praises the fucking thing. Now The Order does the same and is suddenly a problem.
>Resident evil 2
that was literally 3 fucking Playstations ago.
And the gameplay in RE doesn't make Dragon's Lair look like Devil May Cry the way The Order does.
Again, get fucked.
>face off against different ennemies with a variety of weapons
Except that's a blatant lie
80% of the ennemies are bland human mucks. The few werewolves you actually fight are either extremely badly designed or just straight QTE, with one reusing animation assets as the "final boss". And the weapons you use are basically reskinned every TPS weapon, with the exception of the thermite or the arc gun which are just completely underused
Is he seriously trying to argue that 1886 is the best game ever made?
>that was literally 3 fucking Playstations ago.
Oh fuck you. You people are always complain about how modern gams suck and how your old PS1 era games were so much better but when a game like The Order plays like the short cinematic classics you loved so much back then you trash it?
>constantly defending shit games
When will gaming media die already?
the true sign of a complete fucking retard
>something Ready at Dawn has since denied
>we literally had footage of the entire game and it only had like an hour of QTE-based gameplay
>"You're never grinding in our game."
>B-but JRPGs are repetitive so it's okay that our game is an hour long with no gameplay
>literally calling their game in metaphor "the best game you'll ever play in your life"
How the fuck are these niggas serious?
You don't seem to understand what the term means.
Cinematic means what little "gameplay" there is exists solely to progress the movie.
The fact that you'd consider RE2 "cinematic" the way this dogshit is makes me sick.
Ready at Dawn seriously needs to stop their bickering and suck it up. The game is pretty much going to be a success on hype alone, most consumers don't really pay attention to reports by people who got their copies early. If anything, they're probably making it worse on themselves by drawing more attention to the game's drawbacks.
>These people spent almost 4 years making a video game
>These people spent almost 4 years making a video game that has 55 minutes of gameplay.
>everyone shits on it for being repetitive crap
>immediate responses from unbiased journalists specifically targeting any and all criticism the game has rightfully received
>people still think gaming media isn't just paid advertising
>justly criticize their game
>hurr people are bullies look at this food analogy i made
>dev's face when people don't like their "cinematic experience"
I wasn't even interested in this game, but thanks for reminding me that hope is stupid
>the game sucks, it's really fucking short, and it's all fucking cutscenes.
You just described Metal Gear Solid through Metal Gear Solid 4. But its perfectly okay when Kojima does it right? :^)
Yes, actually, it is okay when Kojima does it.
Because Kojima knows people would want to replay it, so he puts in all sorts of crazy hidden shit and post-game benefits to encourage players to do so.
What do you get when you replay Order 1886? Unskippable cutscenes.
>spend 4 years
>end up with a 5 hour game that is mostly unplayable cutscene
why am I supposed to care
>the whole Hobbit trilogy gets panned immensely for being a CGI-ridden piece of shit
>Hackson lives with it
>this shitty game gets panned on a much smaller scale for being a 60 dorra movie with a generic story
>studio chimps out
>Make a shit game
>WAHHHH STOP BULLYING US
Funniest shit i've heared in months.
The difference is that people will still go see The Hobbit no matter how much enthusiasts shit on it, whereas 1886's sales figures could get seriously damaged because of word of mouth. It's a difference in consumer culture.
It's also a difference in press, vidya journalists love to push the "entitled gamer" narrative, that doesn't happen with movies.
>Waaaah publishers are bullies!
>Waaaah game reviewers are bullies!
>WAAAH CONSUMERS ARE BULLIES!!
I think I found out where all those people with liberal arts degrees went for work.
>When Resident Evil 2 came out it had more cutscene time than gameplay
I call bullshit. The game had dialogue, but most of them only lasted a few minutes. The only long cutscenes throughout both scenarios are Annette's flashback and the real ending.
Yes. But casuals don't care. Look at AssCreed. It has mediocre gameplay but is fairly lengthy. If it was short as fuck people would start complaining that those few hours they spent playing were actually not that fun at all.
"everyone is special" ruined everything
also everyone takes everything absolutely personally, because somehow criticizing something they like means you're insulting them because hey, they're a special snowflake
I just love how Sony and its devs are already digging their own graves. Pissing off customers with a competitor like Microsoft breathing down your neck is why PS2 went from 140 million to PS3 doing barely 80 million. History loves to repeat itself huh?
/v/ only ever comes in the media when when fake rape threats are produced and when the bad devs are female
Why are game developers so fucking whiny these days?
Is it just the western devs? I almost never hear any Japanese studio or dev complain about th criticisms their games get; they just admit the game may not be for everyone, say they may have made some mistakes, or just outright tell the critics that it's not even an issue like Team Ninja to everyone bitching about fanservice.
I don't care about the length.
What I do care about is the gameplay and rehashed boss fights.
Why not? I mean crying about harassment on the Internet is the best way to make money, isn't it? They're just testing to see if it works on men.
It won't. This is already backfiring and will probably be the studios final game.
>boo hoo people on the internet are mean
When you enter into a multi million dollar business where the world knows about you, you have to expect hate. Fuck off and get over it. If your game is disliked, it's disliked.
"liberal" has become a buzzword, it no longer means anything.
I liked how everyone thought "Platinum Games is supporting The Order devs" when it turns out it was just one whiny weeaboo on their Twitter who hasn't actually worked on anything important.
Does that negate the point somehow? No, no it doesn't, unless you want to stick your head into the ground every time someone repeats a word.
It's only frowned upon to say that, cause on the OPPOSITE side of the spectrum we have retards from the right.
Wow, those are the most smug, unlikeable developers I've ever heard.
Holy shit what a convoluted ass-backwards way of saying "it's short," they managed to insult their target market on multiple levels.
Why do games developers talk so much shit, and the worst part is you dumb fucks buy into it. Jesus this is worse than politician-speak
Capcom had offensive behavior during the MML3 and DmC crisis (Although MML3 I think was attributed mostly to one of their PR guys on Twitter being a dick). Capcom and NT both went through statements like "You'll love the new Donte," "You'll get over the old Dante," or "Old Dante isn't cool anymore, you guys seriously need to get over him."
Also Sakurai calling his fanbase children.
>put a review embargo on your game
>cry like a baby when its shown that your game is shit
EAT SHIT AND DIE
It is not
>Buzzword: A word drawn from or imitative of technical jargon, and often rendered meaningless and fashionable through abuse by non-technical persons in a seeming show of familiarity with the subject.
A buzzword is a word that's thrown around so much that it loses its meaning
"Liberal" is one of those words
>people this retarded post here now
I just hate how the devs assume anyone who does not love their game is some bully who hates it just to hate it. The game should have been longer, or at least cheaper than $60, and there's no excuse for rehashing boss mechanics. I wonder how many copies will actually be sold.
I thought we couldn't change anything? I thought our opinions didn't matter because it would sell millions reagrdless?
I wish shills would just admit they need our clammy neet bucks because we have so many users we have a tangible gravitational pull on the tide of games hype.
Because most games nowdays from AAA companies have marketing and advertising budgets 3-4x times the actual development costs, it's becoming more profitable to sell a bad yet well advertised game than it is to sell a well developed yet under-advertised game.
The result is that as customers start seeing gameplay videos, reviews, pre-release copies. There's a higher and higher chance of them going "Wait a second! This isn't what you're trying to sell it to me as!"
It's becomming more and more dangerous for developers to actually SHOW off game content now, because doing so in most cases will just shoot themselves in the foot if they're advertising more than developing.
>mfw peopl bought ground zeroes
>mfw the order is a result of publishers realizing people will buy demo-tier games like the order with no gameplay and just cutscenes and pretend it's cinematic
Thank fuck they didn't have a woman on their dev team, otherwise Polygon would have called us all misogynists again.
>tell someone to give you $60
>you promise in return you will do their homework
>take their $60 before you've finished it
>give them their homework but with only the first problem done
>refuse to give their money back
>they beat your ass
>literally pls no bully: the developer
admit it anons, ready at dawn is ran by /v/tards, only you guys would want to be little girls that long to be bullied, unless it's /foolz/
>make shitty 5-hour long movie
>call it a game and charge 60$USD
>get called out for it
>cry to Youtube to get accounts deleted for showing speedruns
>cry cyberbullying on legitimate criticisms of your movie
WHY IS THE INTERNET TRYING TO MOB US!?!?
Oh look it matches up with the 5 hour playthrough that was on youtube before the account was terminated.
>IT WAS A SPEEEDRUN!!!
>HE DIDN"T LOOK FOR THE COLLECTIBLES
>OP doesn't feel it's worth 60 dollars and felt underwhelmed
Why do Neofags/dualshillers defend this?
>Theory in economics based on belief in self-regulating market
>Government should be active in supporting social and political change
it's a fucking buzzword that contradicts itself
They claimed that they worked really hard on it. That logic means that you should ignore all actual criticism and that if you do not buy their game, you are ruining the video game industry.
>Video Games are food
>you consume them
>they become shit
Maybe he's just trying to sneakily tell us what they really think of their game.
You'll see this everywhere, it's more evident in the game industry.
If a movie bombs, the actors, directors and writers will blame the critics but never the public. Vydia developers own the "critics" and they'll never blame themselves, so they can only blame the public.
>criticism = detailed evaluation
IF someone wrote a detailed evaluation on what's wrong with that game, people would call him a troll nitpicking faggot on the mainstream net.
It's easier to say that the game is shit and get it over with.
>make a shit game
>deceived buyers rightly complain
>pls no bully ;_;
LETS GO OVER THIS ONE MORE TIME.
>THE ORDER LOOKS LIKE SHIT
>THE ORDER LOOKS LIKE SHIT BECAUSE ITS 5 HOURS LONG
3 OF MY TOP 10 GAMES ARE UNDER 5 HOURS. LONGER GAMES GENERALLY SHIT THEMSELVES AFTER TOO LONG AND TURN INTO A SLOG.
Nah RE2 was alot longer than that when you first played through.
My friend can do some sick runs through the game through both Claire A and B and Leon A and B in around 2 hours.
The issue is with the gaming media. They want to be taken seriously by the critics in the cinema industry, or the music industry or the photo industry, and they think the way to get there is for games to become more and more artistic. Of course that, to them, artistic means more and more like a movie, more and more realistic. So. while they will say a game like STALKER or Bayonetta is good, they will never hail it as a masterpiece, because they want to be taken seriously.
And in their mind, to be taken seriously, you need to have serious games, cinematic games, which tackle really issues. So they have no choice but to defend shit like this, because to their eyes, it is more serious than other games.
They're all fags.
Just because you spend money on something and do a really good job at it, doesn't mean it's good.
Trillions of dollars went into the housing market between 1980 and 2007. The industry worked extremely hard at deregulating itself, and then in 2008, almost sparked the next Great Depression.
Literally NOTHING good came out of that.
