Time to school all the kiddies in this board.
Monster Hunter is the single deepest, most challenging, most skill-based game ever created. There is not a single other game in any genre that comes close to the level of skill Monster Hunter requires.
This is why Monster Hunter threads are the best, most intelligent threads on /v/. Only the smartest, brightest, and most patient people post in them. Essentially, the very best of humanity posts in them.
Conversely, the only people who don't like Monster Hunter clearly don't have the skills to handle its depth. It is too hardcore for them. That's okay though. Games like Halo exist for people like them. Monster Hunter fans are too good to hold grudges.
>Still waiting on FUCKING GAMESTOP to unfuck my MH4 N3DS preorder
I hate them
I hate them more than I have ever hated anything before
Why are they so inept at fucking everything
What are some of your favorite moments in the game recently?
>Najarla circling while I'm setting up bombs
>teammates cant help me
>low health so his Circle attack would've killed me
>shoot the large bombs I've just set up
>I get flung out of his attack and dont die
>he dies a few hits later
First time hunter here.
Is it important to choose my first weapon carefully? How easy is it to switch weapon types mid game?
I wanna pick one weapon to git gud with but I also wanna try everything
You can relatively easily change. To be honest, most of the upgrade bits you collect will just be sitting around unused so you'll have a half completed weapon of the tier you're on sitting around almost all the time.
try out everything in the beginning and choose what you feel suits you best. you need to get good with at least 2 or 3 weapons and you stil can late game but you may not that easily get a good weapon for that class later on
its the strongest weapon there is isnt it? like in terms of damage per swing.
what could feel stronger than charging your attack for like 3 seconds and unleashing an swing that will likely cause the enemy to flinch?
>what could feel stronger than charging your attack for like 3 seconds and unleashing an swing that will likely cause the enemy to flinch?
Actually causing him to flinch more than one in six times.
I just join friends or pubs online and hunt whatever people want to hunt. Then at the end I'll go and see what's the best weapon craft/upgrade at the time and go with whatever weapon that happens to be.
I just hit HR4 and I went from hammer to gs to lance to charge blade and back to gs.
People like to make it seems like it takes time to get used to a weapon, but you'll learn all you need to within a few hunts unless you suck ass. Low rank is pretty easy anyway.
This. There really is no game in the last 30 years that demands NEARLY as much out of you as Monster Hunter does. It truly is deeper than pretty much anything else out there. Even the classic Platinum stuff like God Hand doesn't even come close to the sheer amount of skill MH demands of you.
>the Dark Souls 2 copypasta
Anon, this is much older than DaS2
>First or second time fighting great jaggi, >Decides to mount him, FUCKING KILLS HIM AS I STRIKE
how the fuck do i get past 6 star, i just have advanced shit and they're all done, even the urgent is done and its still just sitting there
I did it , /v/. I just deleted my 50 hour character because I didn't like the name. It's a liberating feeling.
But now the name I was so sure I wanted doesn't seem as good as I thought, and I'm afraid to make a character in case I mess up again on the naming. Now I just want my old character back to hunt some monsters
what have i done
Welcome to Monster Hunter.
Grind a while.
