> you never play a stargate game
> you will never go through the stargate to a new world
> you will never try to learn about the world, its inhabitants and search for technology.
> You will never discover new gate addresses.
> you will never meet the Asgard
> you will never fight off the Goa'uld, replicators, Ori, Wraiths.
> you will never participate in space battles
> will never travel to atlantis
Why? Why are the only games released for it shit or cancelled all together?
Because Stargate is shit. It's a low budget TV meme and will never be nothing more. Would rather watch Danny Phantom on rerun for 24 hours then sit through a full season of the pile of shit known as Stargate.
Because of licensing issues. That's why the stargat MMO flopped.
This would probably be the best thing for a stargate game. Actually managing the SG teams and sending them on missions.
First person might also be good.
Why the hate? It was an objectively good series, with good story writting, good setting and good characters. Sure the funding and some special effects were questionable, but it doesn't change the fact that it was still amazing overall.
>That Sins of a Solar Empire mod
>mfw using Atlantis to wipe out fleets of 304s
>I want an open word adventure game with possible mmo, rpg or shooter elements that may also contain a world generator. With space strategy too ofcourse.
>set in my favorite universe though
Ever heard of Shores of Hazeron OP? It was around for a while, and while it mas more emulating star trek it was along the same lines, it had support dropped since it wasnt really going anywhere and now its dead.
Whatever, I enjoyed the SNES game. Had a ballin' soundtrack, too.
>mfw Ra's spaceship level music
Plebs. Mizuno and / or Ping or go home.
Titleist can join too.
Literally zero edge in that post you fucking sperglord, learn to control your adhd and not rush to post something fucking retarded. Maybe you'll make friends.
Nope, Stargate is trash.
Key term, you have to object that it's a good series. When have you ever had to objectively imply that Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead or Startrek was a good series?
Never, it's known they are a good series. No one objects to that. Stargate is a 'meh' cliche at best. Nothing amazing, nothing good, nothing bad. Just average, like Seinfeld.
> watching stargate
I knew neckbeard virgins visited this board, but christ people. Don't you have ay self respect? Unless you're under 16 why the fuck would you watch that garbage?
It's a good thing there isn't a game about it. It would just be another generic fps with a 6/10 rating. Boring story, boring setting.
>the walking dead
Oh man this bait is good.
But seriously get fucked Stargate was great.
>used to watch one episode of stargate every saturday
>SG-1, movies, Atlantis, even Universe
>watched the last episode of Universe few weeks ago
>my face when it's all over after 6-8 years
I still feel empty.
> game of thrones, walking dead and startrek are a good series
Man, now you're just full of yourself. Not everyone enjoy any of those. Especially The walking dead. And you're calling stagate a cliche meme series?
There're stargate mods for almost every 4x or old ship simulator game. Hell there's even a good map for it for Starcraft II. Sins of a Solar Empire, Empire at War, Star Trek Bridge Commander are a few examples.
>Actually trying to be this must of a hipster on a hungarian secrecy board
Get over yourselves, no one cares about your obscure opinions. You know Stargate has at MOST 1 or 2 years of life span left before it's cancelled. Also you literally have to be a retarded sperglord to not like Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead.
Get over yourselves, your opinions are shit.
Also to correctly answer why Stargate will never get a decent game, it's because they can't afford it.
Dude every Stargate show sucked ass. I would know, I was forced to watch every single episode of every single season. It was terrible writing, with terrible acting on obvious cardboard sets.
Gee I wonder if the next planet they go to will look like the forests right outside of Vancouver. Ugh. Interior ship sets were the same corridor over and over.
I wonder if Amanda Tappings character will spit out science gobbldeygook to save the day. Or Teal'C will muscle his way through. Or if O'Niell will luck himself out of death.
Jesus, have some scifi taste you plebian sewer rat.
I wont lie, reading that I couldn't help but imagine a completely generic neckbeard saying all those things.
Not because of hating on a specific series, but the way it was all worded.
> walking dead
Sure, nobody will argue about GoT. But c'mon. The walking dead?
Stop damage controlling, I can already tell you're >>284020132
On damage control, how? Because you sperg out with your ADHD and post shit completely irrelevant to the discussion.
You can class me a generic neckbeard all you want. The series was one save the day cliche after the other. You can't be blind to that, can you? The acting was god awful. It looked like it was filmed at the same campsite over and over.
So much better scifi out there, but Stargate is not it.
> thread about stargate GAMES
> where people should discuss how a stargate GAME could look
> clearly the theme is STARGATE
> people end up talking about the tv show, which is somewhat oka-
> people end up talking on how the show supposedly sucks and they hate it
> comparing to other TV SHOWS
> not games
> nothing game related at all.
Name a better zombie series then The Walking Dead, it's impossible. Nothing has the plot twists, the cliff hangers. Nothing even comes as close to modern as The Walking Dead.
Everything else falls flat, sure there are way better Zombie movies then The Walking Dead, but TV shows? No, It easily runs the market on that genre.
Fuck off, I read the books. Show is better.
>video game thread
>people happily discuss the subject matter
>shitposter shows up and starts shitting all over the thread
>everyone falls for the bait and the thread dies
/v/ - video games
I played a stargate game on BYOND long ago, before SS13 even. It was great, there were only 80 or so "worlds" (maps basically), but they all had different races and even languages. But it only ever had like ~60 people online cause it was a BYOND game, nd a roleplaying game on top of that.
They gave up on movie three of the SG-1 wrap up, so I'm willing to bet they're giving up on the SGU movie as well.
The director of the original film is planning on making a sequel however
to the original film, not the series.
>show is better
>the show that is sending Jamie to Dorne
>the show that keeps trying to force Stannis into the villain role
>the show that makes Dany into some kind of awesome conquerer instead of a teenage fuckup obsessed with Daario dick
> Fuck off, I read the books. Show is better.
SGU was canceled like five years ago. If they haven't made a movie by now they will never make a movie.
Best thing you could possibly hope for is a reboot of the entire setting next decade.
I invalidated what? Vox Populis opinion to the opinion to the opinion of none? Okay, good. If I invalidated my opinion then more opinions, most likely the same. Will fall in line to take my backing.
The show is 100% more successful then the books. That's why the show will out live the books even if new books are written. I work in keeping things relevant. Trust me, my opinion has more validation then yours ever will.
>I can tell you're
You should get off the internet.
And go outside.
>there are people who are still watching the TV series after all the original shit dumb and dumber added in season 2 and later
>there are still people who care about new books after how shitty the last two were and how long it took them to come out
>there are still people who go to /got/
I don't know why, but I always imagined stargate wouldwork the best in an X-Com setting. Then a strategy setting.
AndFPS with exploration would be fun aswell.
Wasn't there like some games being developed a few years back? I believe they even had the main cast to voice their own characters.
>mfw universe was like a mix of battlestar and stargate
>was actually kinda enjoyable
>story was good
>mfw ill never know if eli got in that stasis pod
>ill never know if they made it out of that galaxy full of killer robots
It was a mobile game. The other game got cancelled years ago. I believe the reason is because licensing is strict. Besides there are other more popular tv series that still didn't get a video game adaptation either.
I guess all it needs is the right game dev company to notice it and see a potential.
Wish a company like cdprojekt would do a witcher on it. As far as I know, the book wasn't that popular before the game, right?
SGU was good because it was different, i hated in SG-1/SGA that the main team of 4 people were invincible and they wouldn't go into much lore of the Ancients like they were doing in SGU.
I also liked how it took them time to learn how to control the ship unlike in SGA where they got to an ancient city and instantly plugged in tablets and laptops.
Everyone seems to prefer an X-Com like game, but I'd much rather have an online RPG. Not really a true MMO, something like Hellgate: London and Guild Wars (the first one).
You'd have Cheyenne Mountain base as the main, central hub, basically the town for the players who would all share it like an MMO town (GW had this, IIRC), and from there you'd go on away missions on teams of 4 or maybe even larger with several teams of 4. You'd be able to travel to different worlds, fight Goa'uld, replicators and all the other shitters out there, get tech and loot, etc.
Later they could make an expansion with Atlantis as the second hub, and the entire expansion being about the other galaxy.
i agree, i loved the original series but after they finished i really wanted something more serious, something where people actually died and everything couldnt be fixed with the click of a button
If I wanted to watch Battlestar Galactica, I would have watched Battlestar Galactica. One of the main appeals of Stargate TV series was that light campiness and humor. It was bullshit how they tried to reboot it into a darker and edgier setting, even though they literally made fun of that in that one meta SG-1 episode about making an SG-1 TV show.
Again, weren't they making an MMO a few years back and it suddenly flopped?
I would like it to be an mmo, but knowing that that genre basically ruins any series, i'd rather it wasn't.
That's why all the other settings are best.
O'neill was definantly not stupid. The whole deal with his son made him act like that. He had a ton of shit he wanted to hide.
> maybe we can all sign a petition or something
hahahaha, sorry. Don't bother. Been done many times.
Yeah not directly but i liked how it shed some light on the mission and a bit about the ancients, and i liked how there was actual alien looking specious instead of just worms or pale goth aliens in leather.
Everytime there was a cliffhanger it wanted to be like "Oh no maybe they will die" but then after a couple seasons it's just "So are they going to escape this time or will they just die and resurrect again"
They tried that but they didn't care, MGM was close to bankrupt at the time or something like that.
Yeah and after the 15 seasons of SGA/SG1 it was boring as fuck because most episodes were fillers and it just repeated itself over and over and over.
This is exactly what I loved about the SG-1 series and wish someone could capture in a game. The adventure. Not the actual "pew pew" factor, but traveling to distant worlds and learning something about it.
How about The Walking Dead being the only fucking zombie series in existence, since nobody was interested in doing crap that can end only with all characters dying and walking around, killing slow-moving brainless hordes of enemies for few seasons before everyone just get bored, so they cancell it in the middle of nowhere. But why bother if it was going nowhere from the get-go
