The first time you impale someone's face with a pool cue in Darkness II
"Step in front of a runaway train..."
Was going to say this or this, picked this.
My god that game filled me feels
>Compass playing as you return home
>Dutch's last words
>That ride into Mexico
Fantastic game, one of my favorite games of all time. Its the only game to take the title of "cinematic" for me without being cynical. Its very clear that RDR was inspired by old western films and in a really good way. A lot of the missions feel like Western action set pieces (particularly the mine and the canyon bandit lairs), the game draws on a ton of imagery from Westerns, and even the styling of the fonts and art work is reminiscent of Sergio Leone films. A perfect way to make a video game that is an homage to films but not trying to be a film.
>my fucking face when everything after this fight
>That fucking bit just before that where you jump on the zipwire.
I played MP1 as a kid and loved it, played all three games in succession while high as fuck this summer. People complain about the amount of cutscenes and shit in 3, but I felt that Rockstar did a great job on Max as a character. Max just seems completely desensitized to everything and I loved the way he clearly knew that everything was going to go to shit but just grimly presses on.
>you will never play this level for the first time ever again
The cutscenes were annoying when you died, but they really gave the game a great feel.
They used a lot of the same kind of thing in GTAV, much more subtle this time though it and the game is 10x better because of it
Agreed. It was a good arc as a whole.
>you will never play all of MW1 and MW2 for the first time ever again
No matter what flaws people might list with MW2s multiplayer and how bad it is, the singleplayer is like a 6 hour roller coaster ride of constant fun and cool shit happening. It's one thing that I've always loved about the CoD games, the amazing singleplayer.
>tfw you literally -can't- shoot anybody (excluding cops) or the mission ends in the German version of MW2
The only good part of this game.
>dem multiple phases
It was scripted as hell and you could hardly do anything wrong but it was fukken amazing
>you will never storm Omaha beach for the first time
>Auron and Hades(James Woods) bickering
>bro moment with herc
>meet demyx, first org member revealed
>end it with this
This is when you thought "holy shit this game is good"
Holy fuck the Russian roulette part in the original BLOPS was awesome. I miss enjoying call if duty stories but after the first black ops they became shit
inb4 all call of duty stories are shit
I was not fucking prepared, first time a game ever had me on the edge of my seat.
My Boss was a grey-haired brit-voiced man since SR2 and it just never got old to see him act confused at everything. It also made some other scenes utterly hilarious like watching an old man beat the shit out of Killbane in a wrestling match, or listening to Temple insist he has been a soldier longer than I've been alive even though I looked older than him by quite a margin.
Man, there were so many great moments that set that game apart. Not sure whether to go with that level or that early "level" where you get driven through that mudslime town before getting shot in the face, I mean it was basically a cutscene but to just have the player get fucking murdered was unprecedented at the time. I really thought the murricans would show up at the last second, or SOMETHING would save you, but you just die.
Man, for all the shit we give the CoD series, CoD4 was just ballsy. Too bad the series has stagnated since then.
Black Ops 2 is pretty
alright, it has alternating endings and shit.
Couldn't find a better picture, but
>when you first break through the surface
Shit felt so perfect
>We might not have a choice, Lugo.
>There's ALWAYS a choice!
>No, there's really not.
What a way to open a game.
I'm a marine, son. I'll walk on water if I have to.
>Driving around in a Warthog
>Speed inside the building with 2 marines on board
>Run into the yellow elite and massacre it
>Years later found out it was supposed to be a tough spoopy boss
You know they are supposed to be the equivalent of blockbuster movies in game form. Hence the cheesy dialogue and pop culture references. They have never pretended to be anything else
Nobody said they were incredible writers or anything of the sort. In fact we've literally stated they're just goofy and cheesy action movie style plots filled with references. It's fun.
You really are a sad person, aren't you?
While "No Russian" was spoiled for me, it hurts me inside that I'll never play "Shock and Awe" for the first time again, or (even though MW3 was meh) kill that fucking bastard Makarov for Soap again
The fight after this part. Need a webm of broche throwing the guard over the ledge.
>You really are a sad person, aren't you?
I'm dead serious.
>use slowmo just as some replicant throws a grenade
>shoot that shit
But it didn't railroad you. You were free to do as you liked once you hit Mexico. They even give you the option of which town you want to do missions in first. If you wanted to ride your horse all through the song you could. If you wanted to stop occasionally and watch the scenery unfold before you you could. That's the way cinematic gameplay should work, the ability to create your own moments.
The lift down from the inside looking back up from the massive hole, taking in how big this rabbit hole (literally) is
Need to replay in glorious HD
you guys know what a "reference" is, right?
Mein neger. MOHAA invented modern war FPS.
Fun fact: MOHAA was developed by a team called 2015 Inc, who would, after getting a sore deal from EA, left and reformed into a team called... Infinity Ward.
Some achievements/trophies are designed in a way that they pop after the tense/dramatic scene has ended, to prevent ruining it. For example, tons of games have the ending achievements pop during the credits so the final scene isn't interrupted.
Eh, i prefered Catalina or however the fuck you spell it, mostly because she just seemed like she was fucking down for anything in bed.
>That cliffhanger they left it on
Half of you ideas mean HOMAGE.
For starters, as someone said, most CoDs want to be blockbuster films, and films constantly steal, reference or make tribute to each other. Fuck, Die Hards most quotable line is a reference to fucking cowboy films, and are you going to tell Die Hard what to do?
The entire of Black Ops is basically "What if Fight Club was set during Apocalypse Now?"
Boku no Not Requested.
I legitimately raged out at this.
I kept thing, where is the fucking QRF
Hoping that he would crawl into a building and be found later
>Listening to his heart beat to a stop.
I've never been so conflicted about a plot development in my fucking life.
3 wasnt a letdown at all
2 already killed the series so 3 not being good was expected. Especially after that laughably bad demo
Seriously, after ME2 and the ME3 demo, anyone "surprised" or "disappointed" by ME3 are genuine retards
I mean if you eat shit for dinner why are you only crying about eating piss-ice cream for desert?
What are you even trying to say? We all dropped the conversation like ten minutes ago because everyone realized they were arguing with a jaded hipster faggot who doesn't like fun. Who even still cares?
>waiting ten minutes to post an angry reply in broken english to six people just to tell them to fuck off
RTS missions were optional bro. But the only choices are "You were literally so fucking stupid you couldn't figure out not to shoot the guy with the bag on his head" and "Hey, wanna be a retard and make the terrorist a martyr? Or lock him in the worst fucking prison ever?"
shit shit SHIT
>Be 11 when Homeworld comes out
>Play it and get to that scene
>Actually on the verge of tears when I realize what happened
>Become sullen while thinking about it for an entire week, so much that my parents get worried
I'm kind of ashamed I felt sadder about this than my grandfather's death.
>if you instantly start crawling out of the helicopter when the level starts you can make it in time to the children's playground before you die
you can hear the laughter of kids as you lay there and your heart slowly stops
even the game play was mediocre but man this fucking scene
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, man. Where the fuck have you been living?
Everything just clicked right at that moment. I felt angry and disturbed and stupid for it all. I wanted to kill every goddamn person after this.
>RUDIMENTARY CREATURE OF BLOOD AND FLESH
>YOU TOUCH MY MIND FUMBLING IN IGNORANCE
>INCAPABLE OF UNDERSTANDING
The transition to the last phase sold me forever.
You beat the reptites, end up in a blizzard and you have no idea where you are. Then you go up that skybridge for the first time.
I'm very well aware of what a slow human death entails.
Both from dead family members, and the exposure to the shit just frequenting Liveleak etc.
I sat the controller down and got up and walked away, my wife was sitting there sobbing her ass off.
The only other game that triggered me personally, was Homefront? With the PRK soldiers executing a child's parents infront of him. My wife was 6 months pregnant at the time.
this scene and pretty much the entire intro scene all the way to Geonosis.
i wish there were more parts where you fought along side other clones
Beats anything that Far Cry 3 had.
The song alone makes the mission.
>That whole mission
I cannot tell if you and the other guy are seriously getting PTSD from the storyline of Call of Duty
Any moment from this level
>SHOOT 'EM DOWN, WE'RE BEIN' MARKED!
>BOGEY BEHIND ME, AM I GETTIN' SLOW?
>VENOM'S RIGHT THERE!
>THE LAST LINE HAS BEEN BREACHED!
I have family in the military.
My father was old enough to actually be involved in the Korean War.
So I enjoy the fuck out of MilAspect games.
Sperging out waiting for Homeworld Remastered to unlock.
