New thread niggas!
Old thread: >>284101230
Do It, I spent over 500 hours in 3U and that s without online. My copy of 4U came on the mail two days ago and I've been raging since I have to put up with work and school and honestly want to give it all up and hunt all day.
>got six Rathalos Plates from mandatory Rathalos quests
>got two Zinogre Plates
>four Rathian plates
>two Shagaru Magala Plates
>carve an Earth Dragongem off Dahren earlier
>still haven't gotten a Gypceros Head after 13 Gypceros
>they kept the old flavor text
>"a must have for Gypceros lovers!"
pro transporter is what you want. Do the first shitty fucking egg quest and you should get some steel eggs, use those to make a couple pieces of Loc Lac. 2 should get you to +9 transporter and one gem should get it to 11. Remember to eat food for felyne lander and supercat.
I dunno lol
this ought to come in handy for my next egg quest
So i hit HR and now im bored. Is there something i should go for like an recommended armor set because i basically lost interest and have no goals since i got all i want and G-Rank is far as fuck away
I literally just fucking made my hunter, just now, in the lance tutorial, do two extended backhops in a row after the first regular one, and do you think I can get him to do it again after reading your post?
I don't understand. The first time, I held it back as normal. I remember in many hunts doing extended backhop chains multiple extremely vividly while I held the input back.
Why the fuck is it that I just did it, and now after reading your post, I can't anymore? Is reality rewriting itself here or am I just losing my fucking mind?
Lagombi seems a lot harder in 4U than it did in 3U, though. Personally, I've gotten its new attack patterns down well enough for it to no longer be much of a threat, but my first Lagombi fight in 4U was a bit embarrassing.
In terms of difficulty, how is first time Gore vs first time Shagaru?
The other low rank Elder Dragons that I've fought in this series have been pieces of cake but I'm kind of scared because Gore tore my face off the first time I met him.
Meh I beat gore (and shagaru) in bhanabra armor. Just learn to dodge and bring in a bunch of traps/potions/mega potions/honey. Run out of the area hes in whenever you need to heal or sharpen your weapon.
seems exactly the same to me, granted I fought way too many of them in the 3U demo waiting for that stupid game to come out.
>my face when hbg with siege flaming s
I don't even need to mount or trap it. It just fucking dies and can't do anything.
But high rank is fun, I want to see all the monsters, collect all the new materials available, and see what new weapons I can forge.
I'm also a 3U babby so all these gen 2 monsters are intruiging.
First time Gore
>slapped his shit around for 30 hours in the demo
>had a bit of a hard time in game
>only +30 health from kitchen, 130 defense, 590+ switchaxe
>got carted once due to combo'd
>ded in 20 minutes
First time Shaggy
>+50 health thanks to cat duo health/stamina up, stil 130 defense, 702 100 Dragon Gore Switchaxe
>barely get touched, all up in its face and feets
>ded in 10 minutes
Poor whitey didn't stand a chance against the axe forged from his dead brothers
>get Qurupeco armor
Oh my god yes.
Although it won't be quite as fun without having a whole slew of illegal immigrants manning my farm.
Nigga, just do the offline quest with the break feelers sub. Break it's tail and carve it. If you don't get a tail, just restart. If you do, keep slappin him until he goes into frenzy. Once he does, mount him and that should be enough break it, letting you end via subquest. The tail should come off in 2 or so minutes on swaxe
I haven't died in an online quest yet. Evade Lance is really, really good at ejecting themselves out of sticky situations.
But when I fuck up and get hit with an attack, any attack at all I feel like the entire group is judging me. Even when other people are also getting hit hard or even dying.
I had no trouble with Gore personally, but Scooby was a pain in the ass. I
failedthat mission. No idea why it was so annoying, it's basically just gore.
>Does X+A stab attack do much dmg?
good for status ailment and also pretty fast in case you want to get quick damage in. It also helps you do an AED by pressing X+A after the stab.
The explosion at the end does 80 (slightly more than a level 2 greatsword charge attack) but that's only if you mash A until it explodes. You can cancel straight into an explosion quickly by pressing back + x while mashing x, though it will only deal 50 damage
How do I git gud with the Hunting Horn? I want to expand my playstyle outside of Hammer, but everytime I play HH, I feel like I'm not moving at all. I try to do the X+A slam, but it goes backwards instead. What are the combos?
It does 10+12 damage in one motion, counts for two hits of element/status and can combo into Burst 3 / Ultra Burst. In Boost State it'll also deal charge attack damage to boot.
More or less just started and short of playing for 20minutes on one of the PSP games years ago I'm a complete noob at this.
Are Goldenfish automatically sold on quest completion or why did I not get any after fishing up a bunch? Not to be confused with Small Goldenfish, I got those in my inventory.
you learn to face away from the monster and X+A. Brachy is good practice since it's easy to whack him in the face with it.
your most damaging attacks are your songs themselves, with the bonus that you don't waste time refreshing buffs if you land them. They will fuck you over hard if you're not greatsword-level psychic so you gotta git gud. Evasion skills help a LOT.
Goldfish are, Small Goldfish are not.
Goldfish are what's known as "account items". Items that are for zenny or village (in this case, Caravan) points that can be used in various ways.
Also, uh, veteran hunter here who actually welcomes new players to the fandom. Any newbies have any questions? I'd be totally cool with answering whatever you wanna know.
Aight /v/ how the FUCK do I get gucci with dual blades? Just fought a high rank cephadrome and I feel it would have taken much less time with an IG. It just feels like the length 10 hit attack animations make it less agile than something like a switch axe, which is one hit then you can roll or whatever. Also, any go to combo I should be using?
>I feel like I'm not moving at all
Maybe play White White.
There's no real combos. Any move can chain into just about any other.
X will swing from left to right when idle, or slam down when moving forward. Repeatedly tapping it will cycle between the two.
A will swing from right to left (and quite high, to boot) when idle, or when holding forward will do a two swing attack (you can dodge cancel before the second) where pressing another button before the second swing will cause it to play that note. Again, repeatedly tapping A will cycle between the two.
X+A will swing up and over your head and behind you, and will do a weaker superpound at will by holding forward. Again, will cycle. In terms of single hit damage, the X+As have probably got it the best there but they've also got significant wind up and odd placement.
The trick to using Hunting Horn is trick shots where you swing just from off to the side to smash the monster in the face from an angle they can't react at.
Recitals, particularly encores, also do a shit tonne of damage.
Basically it's an opportunist's weapon.
But online is so fucking easy because you have multiple people to just cheese it.
Same thing happened with 3U where people still couldn't do pic related but did well in groups.
>going from SnS to CB
You're getting shittier.
Still not LS though.
>actually liking the underwater quests.
>mfw I just realized Gore Magala's horns fold down when not in frenzy
I thought they just grew out of his head and disapeared
A bunch of ways. Mining points, quest rewards, crafting via armor stones + various other things. There's too many to list, really.
Probably the (Japanese Exclusive) Shounen Jump DLC set. Every MH has 'em.
>They actually fucking kept in the guildie getting wet panties over brachy
This is too good
What's with the hate on Charge Blade anyway? It, Gunlance and Sword&Shield are the only weapons I felt any comfortable with using in the weapon trial quests and Charge Blade just felt like it had most of the pros of SnS but with way better damage. Gunlance feels a bit too slow for my taste even if it's kinda nice.
Hammer is the best weapon.
Where are my hammer niggers at
>implying I play online with casuals.
Seriously tho, hoping into the gathering hall after starting the game and it gives you a handful of monsters to fight then the boxart monster for hr fucking 2 urgent quest.
What kind of fucking sadist sends a lowbie with almost no good gear or weapons to fight the gore.
I loved the SnS ever since FU, but it's depressing watching my friend fly around with his IG and my cousin triple charging all the damn time.
So I said fuck it and decided to bridge the gap.
Just ordered the collectors edition that was up on FUCKING GAMESTOP last night. I've been binging hard on 3U but I cannot wait till no more underwater. If I have no friends to play but want to play online will it b cool?
Charge Blade has wide reach on many of its more damaging attacks and combos, and so can trip up other players easily.
Also, SnS and Charge Blade are pretty much nothing alike in playstyle or pros/cons. SnS has superior mobility, strike speed, and doesn't need to enter another mode to reach maximum potential. There's also that it can fucking backhop, and also use items with the weapon unsheathed which is way more useful than it might initially sound, especially since it's pretty much the only weapon that can give you super armour during item usage.
Holy shit this game looks good on N3DS, the tracking 3D is pretty fucking phenomenal too, I just wish americlaps weren't stuck with the the XL so I could have some proper pixel density.
I can't wait for 3DS emulation to move forward, this shit probably looks almost as good as 3U WiiU if it weren't rendered in such a horrifyingly small resolution
It depends on the kind you want. Basically just mine and do quests. You'll get all you need and more in time.
Because of several reasons. Some valid, most stupid. Some fags are angry because of how strong it is. How dare a new weapon be powerful. Other, more valid claims are that it can be disruptive if people just go full ham with it and spam everywhere, knocking everyone away. If you're not retarded, you can control it and not disrupt your team. If you are retarded...I dunno, try DB.
Pretty sure he means switch axe.
>in sword mode and reload every time it goes down?
He's definitely talking about reloading the philes in a Switch axe since the bar empties every time you swing in sword mode and then "RELOAD" appears next to it.
>Does X+A stab attack do much dmg?
The charge blade doesn't have a stab attack on X+A. The Switch Axe does.
Yeah sorry, I meant to say mash X.
Can you break shit off of monsters with the hammer?
As Hammer user, I've been thinking about using the Great Sword because I can't use the Hammer for every fight and plus I'll need a tail now and then. I know I should be charging as much as I can, but is the X > A > X > A combo still good if I can't find an opening?
What's the deal with seven stars Guild stars monsters? The faggot ass lion took more than 30 minutes to go down, while Akantor made me shoot something like 250 Normal Shots straight in his face before it died.
>people join your room and try to force you into other quests by selecting a different one
>even after telling them no they persist
>you kick them and they just come back and try again
>making you blacklist them
What the fuck is wrong with people
I'm mat farming. Not doing your shitty urgent
>Zamtrios is the best new monster
>has bitching armor
>craft Jawsome weapons out of him
>the hammer is a motherfucking three headed axe
>people don't like him because he inflates
It's the same fucking monsters though.
MH Sux here. I lost to that guy three times in solo and we just ran a train on him like it was nothing. That was a kickass mount.
it just makes no sense that he has a mode where his attacks become ineffective and he grows a gigantic weak spot.
Certain parts, yeah. Can't cut tails, though. But that's what cutting cats and, to a lesser extent, boomerrangs are for. Some parts require impact damage to break, too. Like Barroth's ridge can't break without it.
So hey, I fought my first Nardsnake in Story today. You guys are gonna love this.
First carve: Chilling Beak
Second Carve: Fang
Third Carve: Chilling Beak
Ah so it's mostly an online thing. Gotcha.
A more stupid question, how do I kill those stupid bugs that die in 1-2 hits and just go splat and give me no loot, but actually get loot from them? I think in 20 kills or so, one let me carve it and actually get something from it and I don't think I did anything different. Should I use a different weapon?
>the hammer is a motherfucking three headed axe
It's pretty good, but it's not overpowered good. A lot of its goodliness comes from being paired with weapons that are already good on their own.
I don't understand it either.
Yes. Now more than ever.
I think he probably just really needed more tremor range and to not wait a million years between every bounce.
Use those beaks for Ceanataur pincers. Make full ceanataur armour.
Razor Sharp + Speed Sharpening is disgustingly good, especially with some of those fucking weapons with low ass sharpness in low rank.
>play MH in Japan
>everyone is super polite
>waits for the room creator to post quests
>never pushes their own if it's not their own
>always does the urgent for everyone in the room before leaving
Anyone else who've played with them knows what I'm talking about.
The difference between courtesy is astounding.
>red khezu + khezu high rank mission
fuck this mission and fuck khezu's.
first time I've failed a mission because of poor visibility of lighting attacks over snow and they do 50% hp + paralyze, leaving me open for the next khezu to combo.
Anyone doing HR3 stuff?
would like to be able to reach high rank at some point
>not letting the room creator post quests
unless they ask or something why would you do that shit. Only time i've done that was last night and that was because the guy was cool as fuck and leveled everyone up from HR4 to 5 before leaving
Just farm some kutku and get Roosted Decapitator, you'll thank me later.
Beat Gore and Shagaru on my 1st try, not even full Jaggi set yet. Ended up farming them for the hammer.
>It's the same fucking monsters though.
Well no, that's wrong. Go to the wiki and look at the sub species that unlock. Hell, some monsters/elder dragons dont' get unlocked till the bare ass end of the game, like Rajang and Chameleos.
Get it, anon. It's actually a really good path. Plus who doesn't like shooting things with a hammer?
SA was my main back in Tri. I was a fucking surgeon with that thing. I saved quite a few shitters from alatreon charges and Jho breath attacks with it's upward swing. It's just all the fuckwits who think SWING AXE HIT MONSTER is how you play it, then trip all the other hunters around them. There are people who are good at it, just like there are people who actually like playing and are good at Hunting Horn. It's rare, but it happens.
g rank is great because it's actually worth fully farming multiple armor sets and builds become a lot more free due to the fact that talismans get A LOT better
you'll end up with a lot of goals if you want to build multiple armor sets, even more so if you main several weapon types
>See that there's a Nerscylla Gunlance
>Its a damn halberd
>Looks rad as hell
>Craft it and go for a test run
>When you reload nothing changes just shells fly out
>No face cause at work
Seriously the fuck is this thing? Someone didn't think it through.
>just got my first purple note hunting horn
>having to remember these new 4 note songs
At least they give stronger buffs
nah its just that most of shitters left
replayed 3U few weeks ago before thsi game came out and most people are quite nice
the game just came out so there are still a lot of shitters
No, but I believe Seltas armour has you covered there. Razor Sharp + Artillery. Can't make the full set 'til the ass set of low rank, but you can drop some Artillery gems into the five slots available on Ceanataur armour.
You'll need Sunspire jewels and 10 ice crystals for five. You don't really gain access to the ice area until just over halfway through village low rank, but I believe if you're lucky you can trade caravan points for 'em to the Wycoon if you watch his inventory.
WHO THE FUCK WAS THAT LITTLE NIGGA CAT GOING THROUGH MY STUFF
>doing village quests
>2 Khezu quest
>find them both in the same area
>mfw I can't move because both of them keep screaming one after the other
>Fighting revamped and frenzied brachy and zinogre
These guys are a trip and a half, especially since brachy has random cook times on its slime puddles, I just wish they weren't made of fucking paper, their faces are too accessible by a hunting horn
>tfw got into holding forward after upswing to chain into overhead chop, then letting go so it wouldn't chain into forward thrust for extended axe combo because the hack 'n' slash plain up wasn't as good as it is now and was a death trap you couldn't evade or combo out of
>tfw pioneered incomplete phial bursts with Bastion Blitz (P) in order to paralyze the monster in group hunts then explode into axe mode to take advantage of the extra damage from paralysis state
You're new to this, aren't you?
Man, why the fuck are there like ZERO good bow sets in lower ranks? It's been like this for as long as I can remember. And it sucks, because Bow is fun in groups. Even though they fucked with the controls.
Lance is pretty fucking good still. You can jump mid charge to mount monsters, you get a new u-turn ability mid-charge, and i think the shield advance bash was buffed.
Don't be a shitter and jump on the CB club. IG club is forgiveable.
Every weapon got some improvements. What weapons have you been wanting to try?
Well the CB looks fun but i'll probably only try that offline seeing as everyone hates it worse than LS when it comes to fucking your team up. I'll probably download the dex and look at the new lances.
Anyone else having trouble with the auto-target camera? For some reason, using it swings it to weird angles if it isn't in an open field, making it really hard to see. I never had this issue with 3U.
bring dung bombs you dingus
Zinogre is basically designed around the idea of getting fucked with a hunting horn. The angles are so perfect between his paws and head.
Most of the hate is just meme shit. LS and CB aren't really worse than other weapons in tripping. People just get mad at "nothing personnell kid"s and the fact that CB is top tier.
>Well the CB looks fun but i'll probably only try that offline seeing as everyone hates it worse than LS when it comes to fucking your team up.
Actually CB is fine in groups, it's just the fact 50% of people online are using it.
Also it's complete unbalanced cheese. Even though I don't like it, I'll still admit it's a disgustingly good weapon even if you don't know what you're doing. Once you into guard points and knowing how to unload your phials properly (which isn't hard) it becomes god-mode.
I'm just a hipster with a grudge against bandwagons, plus I can't abandon my old mainstay weapons lance and HH.
I can solo him fine. I would imagine most people could because of the practice from the demo.
Just saying it's infinitely easier and faster to just farm him online, because at least in my experience the group will get the horn break like 95% of the time.
>mfw trying out LS for the first time on gravios
Any tips on LS?
Lance/IG user, want to try something new for a change
Actually it was way better than you give it credit for. Really, aside from the changes to the combo structures, SA has only gotten weaker since its Tri incarnation. The singular exception, really, is the hack 'n' slash which has only gotten better.
Lemme map it out for you:
>Axe Overhead Chop
Side chop and forward thrust are slightly weaker now by 1-3 points to boot.
>Sword Down Slash
>Sword Up Slash:
Side slash went from 22 in Tri/3U to 25 in 4U though, so there's that.
Oh, but the phial burst is quite a bit stronger than it used to be, so there's that.
LS deserves all it's hate because .
>newfags/scrublords use it
>they always get in the way of someone else (hammerbros)
>they will COMBO when they hit max bar all the time
>all their attacks cause tripping
They're good solo weapons, otherwise use a GS.
Monsters that you struggle with for no reason
pic fucking related.
>reach village high rank
>doing pretty good with my Plesioth armor
>suddenly double Rathian quest for the whale hammer quest line
>tail flips eat 60% of my health
>make it in the end but cart once
I think it's time to quit being capture god and get something sturdier
I rarely see LS anymore with CB and IG being the new flavors.
There's so much super armor between weapon types right now. I don't see LS users harassing groups anymore than other weapons lately.
>The weapon deserves the hate because there's shitty players in the game
Hammer deserves all it's hate because .
>newfags/scrublords never knock the monster out even once
>they keep trying to spin into the monster
>only ever superpound, and often near the feet sending everyone flying
>combo in open air
It's a good solo weapon, otherwise use a Hunting Horn.
Now do you see how stupid that sounds?
JESUS HOW THE FUCK DO I UNLOCK SOLO RAJANG. KIRANICO IS PRACTICALLY NIGGER FOR NOT POINTING OUT CHAINS
You'd think something so slow wouldn't be so annoying.
3* village tetsu
using Switch Axe which I am pretty bad at. I do OK with SnS but only because I can get close and do damage a lot easier.
This whole "learn patterns and strike hard during small openings" is something I've never really done in a video game
Congala is a piece of shit.
>body slam that tremors you from a mile away
>immediate backhop into a poison/fire/dung breath
Load of horseshit.
Also Khezu gave me a fucking hard time when I got to HR.
>Wanted to use the CB ever since it was introduced
>Still wanted to use it even when people said it was shit and the worst weapon in 4
>4U comes out and everyone hates it because it was buffed to the point of being stupid good and because so many people use it
oh well, guess i'll enjoy people not liking me
When his tail is white and puffy, aim for it. He's really weak there. Otherwise go for his big faggot frog face. Farm him a few times, make his armor and be happy.
Not necessarily talking about you but the amount of people complaining about getting their butts spanked while still trying to rough it through HR with LR armor.
Like I mean, you can do it, just don't be surprised when giant crab battle 2-shots you.
5% from body carves.
I actually quite approve of the Sword Mode changes, but I think that nerfing axe mode's overhead chop and upswing was overdoing it a little bit.
Side slash doublecut repeat is pretty good. In fact, it's a little too good, I feel, in the wake of the overhead chop and upswing nerfs in axe mode. If they're going to reduce its power any further they damn well better increase its movement speed to compensate, or at least add a new move.
Honestly a part of me sees Doublecut getting nerfed slightly in MH5.
>post office delivered my collectors edition finally
>didn't get home from work until precisely 6:04pm
>front office at my apt complex closes at 6:00pm
>make it to high rank
>get bodied by Blue Kut-Ku but still win
>beat E. Congalala, but cart
>go to low rank to catch up on ! missions I never finished
>cart to him when it only used to take 5-10 minutes to kill
>go back further and do a gore fight
>realize I lost the touch
>realize I need to farm dung
>realize I need to farm another set of armor from a shitty ass bird wyvern so I don't get 1HKO'd by Rape Ape again
>realize I want to try another weapon but I'd need to grind for something and I don't even know where to begin
I was so happy a week ago, now I'm burned out. How do I get out of this funk?
>reach high rank
>have to gather and mine all over again
>have to kill small enemies for new materials again
>even simple monsters like Velocidromes are dangerous to fight until I get new armor
I both love this and hate this
>but I think that nerfing axe mode's overhead chop and upswing was overdoing it a little bit.
EVERYTHING had a slight raw nerf anyway, and as an advocate of high element actually being viable for once I approve entirely
That's natural. You're at the point where the point of the game IS to grind rather than to play for fun. Drop it for a week and let the addiction return or take this opportunity to sell it and be free of the grindfest to go play better games
>get backed into a wall and combo'd to death by two different Tetsucabras
Oooor farm Hermitaur for an easy set of HR armor if you're in it for the armor boost. Skills ain't bad either.
Some people recommend doing arena to try out new weapons.
I would rather suggest farming the fuck out of Gary Magaloo online and make a couple of his weapons you'd like to try, then keep playing online while trying them out.
Trying new weapons solo can be frustrating because you're guaranteed to fuck up.
What weapon do you use now? What are you interested in?
I did GL and Hammer in 3U. Doing Lance and HH, two weapons I use to think I would hate but love now.
>brachy, zinogre, and rajang have a little extra forward reach on a few of their attacks
>hit me with them every time because my muscle memory can't handle it
It's 3U's pinkian all over again
Luckily its sitting in the delivery closet at my complexes front office. I just have to wait until 9am to pick it up. Still hurts.
I basically attack based on my distance from his front, directly under his head to one horn width away I do X+A backswings all day, farther than that and I tag him in the face with side swipes. The double note swing can be hard to land both hits on the head since they swing at two different angles
> Is blocking even a huge part of GS play
It is if you suck, most people won't use it often as it decreases sharpness.
Does anyone know if there's a list of the returning armors in the game? Is Barioth armor in? Thanks.
You mean like getting a new bigger/faster microSD card and using the same system for it? Just plug it into your computer and copy all of the files to the new card and pop it in. Just make sure the new card is formatted to FAT32 and is a primary partition
>Down a Seltas and a GJaggi
>Encounter a fucking Congalala
>"Not gonna shit on me this time you fucker."
>Suddenly a Tetsucabra
>Between avoiding Tetsucabra and Congalala, I get farted on with little health left
>Run away to wait out the stink blight
>Tetsucabra ends up killing the Congalala
More like TetsucaBro
Hold the fuck up, you mean you can get that Whaleship hammer from the cutscene just by killing two high rank rathians? I fucking eat those for breakfast, tell me more.
>Gee I hope I can justify buying this N3DS with playtime
>Almost 50 hours in now and only HR7 and only at 7 or 8 stars in Caravan quests
And it's G-rank where I spend stupid amounts of time usually.
>Hunter goes into blocking wind stance against Pink Rath even though shes just fucking hovering
>Does the poison flip into charge combo
so how does charge blade vials work
impact, i presume only does impact damage while in axe form
but is it also fatigue damage like hammers is?
and elemental, is it a % of the raw? i dont believe its the elemental number most of them have, because they seem to do it in sns mode as well
So guys, what did you name your hunter and cat?
I named my guy Popo and my cat minx.
But I love the fights. I had a fucking blast against Zinogre, S. Queen, Shagaru, and D. Hermitaur. Now it's shit that wouldn't get me down to 80% health destroys me.
I may just be tired, you're right. I know all the error is on my end (which is probably why the series hasn't grown in the west - we like to be coddled too much). I'll give it another shot tomorrow.
I guess now would be a good time to start.
I might as well, even though guard is useless on me, since it's a fun as fuck fight.
I play HH right now and am interested in GL since I found a +5 Artillery charm.
>Helped enough people do Shag Mag urgent before I could get someone to help me that I had enough material to make the full armor
Skills aren't that great, but at least it looks cool. Can't wait to make the G version.
Why do people try to defend that gunning isn't easier than melee?
You're safe from about 95% of monster attacks. You'll never have to worry about 360 spin attacks or swipes.
>b-but muh 50% less armor than blademasters
Doesn't matter. HR monsters 2-shot everything and everybody anyways. Except you have the advantage of range.
>(which is probably why the series hasn't grown in the west - we like to be coddled too much)
>a nation that moves Ninja Gaiden, Hurr Souls, and "roguelike" indie spike platformers by the truckload
>cutting Tigrex tails with a lance
Nigga stop jumping around holy shit calm the fuck down
can someone please fucking tell me the logic of every monster having a bullshit dash attack.
literally everytime i've died in this game has been from a fucking dash attack hitting me against a wall followed by them continuing to dash against the wall and me getting hurt instantly again and killing me. every fucking time
>EVERYTHING had a slight raw nerf anyway.
No, this is false. Most weapons did not get raw nerfs. In fact, in many cases some saw raw increases, or new moves with better raw values than anything they had prior. SnS, Longsword, Lance, Hammer, Hunting Horn.
In fact, the most significant change I can find, aside from the Switch Axe, is that Greatsword dropped the multipliers on its charge attacks in favour of just straight motion values. Instead of 100x1.3 for Standard LV3, it's just 110.
The only real way I could see what you're saying as being applicable is if overall, the true raw values on weapons don't go as high as they used to, but that's not the case - in fact, values on heavy weapons go up into fucking 1600s with great fucking sharpness and either good, or extremely negligibly bad affinity.
Math, son. Take a weapon's true raw, and then do the proper damage output math, then apply it to a monster and see how many times it'll it take that particular attack to kill it.
Those "minor numerical changes" are pretty fucking significant. The overhead chop is 87% as strong as it used to be, and upswing a little bit less, but even diluted with a move in the middle there's still going to be a noticeable different in hunt times.
The rebalancing of sword mode moves made sense, since it was dumb that one combo was used completely over the other. Doublecut on the other hand made sword mode way stronger overall, whereas before they'd achieved a nice balance in 3U where you could almost use either form equally. I mean, I still do, but there's that part of me now that's nagging me for not just doing side slash doublecut repeat for maximum damage output at all times.

>On an Expedition
>Jho and Tidal Najarala appear
>Jho tries to attack me but every time Tidal coils his body around me and intercepts the attacks
>Kill Tidal having barely had to damage it myself
>Laugh at how huge Tidal is
>Finish the expedition
>It was a Tiny Gold Crown Tidal
>Order MH4U and Majora's Mask 3D from Hastings
>Get email saying majora's mask shipped
>Check orders page to see what happened to MH
>It's on backorder despite saying it was in stock when I placed the order
>Product page STILL says "ships within 24 hours" and nothing about being low/out of stock
Advantage of range, but only bow has the advantage of movement. HBG and LBG sacrifice their ability to move while attacking, especially with rapid fire or siege mode which can easily lock you into place.
And many monsters do have ranged attacks or quick, charging attacks. Ranged weapons might be easier against some monsters, but not necessarily against some others.
