Having Luck with those gems yet?
Pink Rathian gold crown and ruby on my first try yesterday
Is there more art with Guildmarm and Brachydios together?
got rath ruby first try from the required quest
>Capture Gendrome mission
>Get it down to limping with my based Tetsu GS
>Set up a Shock Trap after toppling it with a mount
>It gets caught in it, vanishes immediately and I get a QUEST FAILED
what the fuck
The initial idea was that you only got a theme when a monster "Saw" you. Khezu was the first creature with absolutely no sense of sight, and no form of eyes, so they chose to give it no song intentionally.
Plus it really boosts those horror show vibes the fucker gives off.
>still no way to save your replays
>still no way to save your kill screen
I used the Zinogre horns exclusively for most of 3U, because they were fucking guitars. At g-rank I only used the stygian one because it had awesome all-purpose songs.
Also after a few drinks I decided it would be a good idea to take on my first Seregios with the Hermitaur GS I made as soon as I hit high rank, and the Velociprey armor I made soon after. 15 minutes later it's captured. On to Zinogre!
Anyone discover a good way of raking in zenny? I thought I had a good amount before I hit HR. I was at about 80k and then I crafted HR tetsu set and now I'm running low on cash. Gonna be needing buttloads of gold for all this delicious gear.
If you haven't experienced the joy of charging toward a monster that's charging right back at you and jump stabbing that motherfucker with your lance in a joust between man and monster, then you need to go ahead and do yourself a favor and do that right the fuck now. Even if you don't main lance there is no better feeling.
>doing Meowsnter Hunter
>get Wroggi scraps
>the head and chest palico armor only needs one Wroggi scrap
>mfw eventually getting a band of bandito 1st Striders
Time to school all the kiddies in this thread.
Monster Hunter is the single deepest, most challenging, most skill-based game ever created. There is not a single other game in any genre that comes close to the level of skill Monster Hunter requires.
This is why Monster Hunter threads are the best, most intelligent threads on /v/. Only the smartest, brightest, and most patient people post in them. Essentially, the very best of humanity posts in them.
Conversely, the only people who don't like Monster Hunter clearly don't have the skills to handle its depth. It is too hardcore for them. That's okay though. Games like Halo exist for people like them. Monster Hunter fans are too good to hold grudges.
Why is the charge blade so good?
It should be illegal to have this much fun.
Seriously niggas this weapon is my favorite.
What're the chances that the MH4 games will come to consoles?
I guess you could say I'm relatively new to the series since I only played Tri and 3U, but loved them. However I can't stand portable gaming and don't own a 3DS. Has Capcom said anything about bringing the games back to consoles or even PC?
>grinding for relics trying to get cool alternate designs for armors
>almost every single armor relic is ludroth
Is it just the most common piece or what, I have so many fucking pieces of ludroth armor it is ridiculous.
Is it just me or is Rathalos way more annoying in this game?
Back in 3U I found him easier to fight than Rathian but now it feels like he's flying fucking constantly and rarely leaves a decent opening. I don't know if they've actually changed his AI or if I'm just getting unlucky though.
It's a small thing but damn is the opening video good. I have to sit there and watch it everytime I start the game. The monster introduction videos are pretty great too even if the Hunter acts completely ineffectual in most of them.
That khezu monster was disgusting, the way it feeds when its tired is disgusting as hell.
On another note this is my first mh and i gotta say this is the best game where you feel you really progressed, had trouble with that nerscyla boss at first but now i hunted two of them at the same time with no problem.
Power Phials are the best
Element Phials are alright
Every other phial is shit
Because it's "powerful", considering all they know is supercharged attacks and nothing else. It's like how most shitters pick up GS at the start of the game under the impression it has "SUPAH HIGH DAMAGE!!!" without realizing what effort it takes to fully utilize said damage.
Is there any point to using the Grim Cat? I mean, it has a power phial and a paralysis effect, but its sharpness is absolute ass.
Is it just a novelty thing? "Ha ha, I have a cat face axe?"
I just got the LR BM Seltas armor set and gemmed it to Artillery God.
What's a GL that'll go well with this set?
It's still decently popular but nowhere near what it was in 3U. I guess a lot of people have moved to Charge Blade. Personally I moved to Gunlance after getting bored as fuck of Switch Axe in 3U, but I still use Switch Axe when I want to cut tails and stuff. I think it's actually a lot more fun in 4U.
Anyway, Power Phials are still the best. Element Phials are viable now though. Everything else is still a shit.
Did Switch Axe get changed? Because it feels a lot more faster than I remember. It's way better, I might even make it my main again.
Are Power Phials still the only Phials worth using? or did they balance them?
>tfw you finish a monster off by jump attacking and breaking its face
>Personally I moved to Gunlance after getting bored as fuck of Switch Axe in 3U, but I still use Switch Axe when I want to cut tails and stuff. I think it's actually a lot more fun in 4U.
Yeah, I played SA for a bit in 3U too but I ended up getting bored and going to GS. I wanna try it out again now though, it looks pretty fun.
so i know what the various items do, but is there a guide detailing the uses of items? i only recently found out abut bombing the roadblocks, and ive never made much use of boomerangs and stuff. is there an item guide somewhere?
I use it because it's pretty fucking good at paralyzing, and unlike a para phial SA it doesn't sacrifice damage for para.
Just slap some Sharp Sword or Sharpness +1 on it and it's golden.
Power got nerfed while element got buffed. Both are viable, so long as you pick your phials smartly. Abstain from whipping out an ice axe with an elemental phial against Zinogre, but go ahead and give Gravios a wet n' wild time if you want to.
They also depend on the monster. Some, like Khezu for an extreme example, are totally immune to flash bombs. Some, like Kut-Ku, are ridiculously susceptible to sonic bombs. Check your monster list and pay attention to the monster's anatomy to see which bomb is right for the monster.
2/4 rajang HR 7 KEYS
get in here 37-4693-6427-3931
Zamtrios is kind of weird with Sonic Bombs, because he seems to be not affected by them right when his fin surfaces, but instead when his upper body is out of the ground, so watch out for that if you ever plan to use Sonic Bombs against him
Needed three Molten Tigrex fangs for Cheda Blade+. First fight, got zero and started thinking this was the beginning of a long and painful experience.
Second round I got five. This game has been good to me so far with the drops, I'm swimming in plates of all kinds. I'm sure it means once I hit G rank I'm going to get fuck all.
not sure if it's this one, but:
X+A (vertical upwards cut) - Mash A (keeps hitting horizontally however you wants or until stamina ends) - R - R (finish transforming into blade mode and hit vertically downwards)
Pressing R during Hack 'n' Slash now does a finisher that lets you transform into Sword mode.
The bigger deal to me is the changes to Sword mode that actually make it significantly less fucking boring.
Tap R during the infinite slash attack. You will do a roundswing similar to the Charge Blade's A+A attack, and you can top it off with a morph into sword mode. It looks pretty slick and does a ton of damage, try it out.
Sword still does the best damage outside of Hack 'n' Slash + Mega Dash Juice nonsense, but yeah.
More or less all of Sword mode's attacks are now worth using instead of just mashing XX forever. AX does the best DPS, XA is the old XX and is quick, safe, good for cutting tails, XXX is good for flowing into AX after switching from Axe mode, etc.
Axe mode is more or less the same but since you can now flow easily into Sword mode with a big, damaging attack out of the already-powerful Hack 'n' Slash you actually do the best damage by keeping up the mode switches and using both instead of staying in Sword mode all the time when you have meter.
And as a minor change that is nice
but keeps throwing me off after 500 hours of 3Uthe meter is now actually accurate to exactly how much of your fucking phial is left.
>tfw you knock gore out of the air with a flying superpound, then KO him with the follow-up golf swing
Why is hammer so based?
what do you get by taunting me like that?
>mfw i always kick the monster awake instead of getting free level 3 charges
>Capture quests take 2-3 times as long because im holding back
I never kill them before they limp anyway but I can't stop.
