Threadly reminder that Battlefront needs to be in first person only.
Threadly memo that MP is fine on Gamerang.
But that's already what DICE is going to do, at least for online play
Nobody cares. Battlefront isn't the type of game where this matters since there's lots of open combat, dudes running around dying all the time, etc.
If someone was camping a door and exploiting the 3ps camera you would see him ambushing all the guys running in and you would know to nade him.
>BF with SW skins
>Implying BF ever
>it could have been a mod.
No, it literally could not have.
Also, if you'd have played both, you'd know they're not actually the same.
>Tales could have just been a Final Fantasy mod!
Lets hope it's Bad Company's DLC plan and all the shit that's worth a damn is free to anyone who bought the full game.
>An “aggressive” DLC plan is also in place, with five content packs, each containing at least three maps as well as characters from The Force Awakens.
>i'm just saying. it could have been a mod.
They're not even on the same engine, you homo. Aside from sharing mechanics like capturing points and ticket based reinforcements, as well as common shooter features like guns, grenades, and the ability to drive vehicles, they're nothing alike.
The factions, units, the weapons, the way the physics work, the map design, and of course the engine it runs on are completely different.
Just because a game has similarities with another doesn't mean they are the same game.
>There are people that want Battlefront 3 to be a reskinned Battlefield
>There are people that think the Battlefront games were like Battlefield
If you think like this you need to die.
>find some way
Oh it'll be a travesty and insult to the series.
there's a 100% chance of them adding experience points and custom loadouts with perks
there won't be splitscreen
they may go completely insane and remove third person entirely (except for hero characters, if they're even going to be in)
They'll add iron sights.
there will be DLC out the ass.
It's going to be complete shit. Fuck Disney for giving Star Wars to fucking EA of all people. Even Activision or Ubisoft would be better.
Why do they even bother making sequels to Battlefield games right? They should have just made 1942 and that's it. Every BF game since then is just the same game with different guns and vehicles right?
After all, once you make a certain type of game, there's no reason to make other games like it with different themes.
>Scavenger Droids in Republic Commando
>implying 3 won't be the worst game of the generation
It's EA. They'll probably put specific effort into making it shit. they should do something nuts like remove the Clone Wars just because people hate the prequels.
Special unit ranking
Clone Commander>Bothan Spy>Droideka>Wookie>Jet trooper>imp officer>magna guard>Dark trooper
>Dark Trooper at the bottom
You fucking faggot
>Play as Darktrooper on Yavin 4
>Flying across the map
>land near the Rebel CP
>go behind enemy lines
>shock faggots from behind
>jet off when they turn around
>fly over the cover of the trees
Man, I miss developing strategies for this game.
>TAKE IT DOWN
Degenerate into somethin, fool
I just got tired of beepin like you want to boop
Them's the breaks, droid.
Them's the breaks, robo-man.
So psyched for the new Battlefront, i read on kotaku its better than civ 5 with brave new world expansion pack
Seriously tho, this is the only game I'm excited for this year. Do you guys think a 290 will be able to run it well?
>Playing on Tantive IV
>some faggot does this
Be honest, which one of you faggots would actually do this?
Which do you choose /v/?
do you guys think battlefront will be able to get away with not having female clone/stormtroopers?
>tfw rarely ever shooting in Tantine and just throwing grenades down hallways
>1000 point map
>bomb enemy weak points
>switch to interceptor and rek fuckers until you win.
Works every time, I was virtually invincible in space, few people could ever shoot me down.
Am I the only one that doesn't care? Or that thinks it actually amkes sense?
They've already explained it will release almost alongside Star Wars TFA. That means that it must not have any spoilers for future locations. Once more of the story is revealed, they can release more locations, more vehicles, more whatever it is that they couldn't release before because of contractual obligations with Disney.
inb4 EA shill. I love everything about Star Wars and Battlefront, and if Battlefront 2 had had any map packs released, I sure as shit would've bought them because the game was fucking good.
And that's what it hinges on, I think. If the game is actually GOOD, if the basic game before any DLC is good, no one will have a problem buying more.
This tactic has no practical use in singleplayer since the AI is shit. This was purely a multiplayer strategy.
The only reason I used the bug was to hunt faggots who were abusing it.
>That faggot who always places mines next to the doors at the cantina
yeah it doesn't really make sense why you would clone the weaker gender to do a physically demanding job, like being a soldier, but will DICE have to fold to all the whiny faggots that are bound to complain?
They might. Though they should take their problems up with Star Wars in general.
even the staff of the Death Star, not much more than glorified office workers, didn't have a female among them.
>Playing the Engineer class
>Destroy Bridge controls
>10 minutes of sniping eachother later
>People start running to get across
>Both sides lose about 10 men each
>been looking forward to this for years
>find out it's a first person shooter now
>tried playing first person games in the past but i'm terrible at them
They got away with having only male robots.
>tfw your team is making a big push for the center CP.
>that guy who always dropped the bridge
Complete fucking bro.
>Play co-op on Yavin 4 with a buddy
>Grab speeders and fly over to the opposite side and take their furthest base. Spend time taking that base while enemy forces destroy all of our ai.
>Wait a bit until the score is lopsided 20- 130
>Start heading back to base and gathering AI (lives) along the way.
>Stick them all in the control room and order them to hold position over and over, while buddy and I take up positions on opposite sides of the temple, at the bottoms of the stairs.
>2 against 130
>Hold off the waves of enemies coming through the hangar opening
Those were the days.
>>tried playing first person games in the past but i'm terrible at them
The console version will surely have autoaim and ironsights.
>People are so naive they believe Battlefront 3 will be good
Yea, I can't wait for EA DICE's world renowned Frostbite™ engine, with its superior netcode, lighting and physics
>playing battlefront 2 the few months before Gamespy shuts down
>every single game is on awful maps like Polis Massa, Naboo and Felucia
>dropping them and then repairing them at the speed of sound
>they don't even finish dropping
It's so fucking fun seeing the people on the bridges panic and make a dash for either side.
>mfw literally trying to hold that control point by myself
>throwing down mines on the sides of the walls
>shooting rockets down the corridors
>eventually my team grows a brain and helps me
>die and re-spawn as Palpatine
>completely steamroll enemy team into the ground
dude, DICE would have to be TRYING to fuck it up, to make a battlefront 3 bad
Literally all you have to do is make a battlefield game, but with star wars vehicles/weapons/characters
And lets not forget that DICE were the ones who made 2142 which had MOTHER FUCKING TITAN MODE!
So, if dice just made 2142 with star wars skins, I'll be happy.
>use jetpack to scoot across hoth
>sit on top of the falcon and capture the hangar
>laugh as the silly rebels try to stop the AT-ATs without their precious speeders
>50% of the fighting is now occurring in the tunnels
>battlefield game, but with star wars vehicles/weapons/characters
>if dice just made 2142 with star wars skins, I'll be happy.
Not gonna lie, I might take 2143 with a revamped Titan mode over a new Battlefront.
Now if they made a new Battlefront that has it's own Titan mode, I'm sold. Or perhaps a better space assault mode. I really want to feel some sort of challenge in getting inside the ship and taking it down.
>people hate the prequels
>prequel era stuff in BF and republic commando were both good
also, has anyone played the conversion mod that adds KOTOR stuff? I tried it but the KOTOR stuff seemed limited and kind of poor.
Naboo triggers the fuck out of my PTSD. No matter when or how I play on that map I always get the shit end of the stick.
>First battle is on Naboo
>2 enemy AI left
>They are both in tanks
>Everybody just converges on the middle CP without even thinking about the others
Doesn't help that Empire and Rebels get their worst respective heroes, Sheev "Weak Lightning" Palpatine and Leia
>tfw watching Vader and a couple of storm troopers flying out one of the windows after strolling into a detonater.
>Literally all you have to do is make a battlefield game, but with star wars vehicles/weapons/characters
Oh, that's what we're getting anon. Endless suffering...
>hunt on hoth
>playing as wampas
RIP AND TEAR
Lucas is a talentless hack that lucked into making a masterpiece because of the team that stopped him from doing stupid shit.
Oh man, fuck Naboo. That was the one map that never had a good strategy for.
The enemy always ended up getting the outer control points and flanking the center of the map.
Once you control the outside it was over, they gain control of tanks and you team's heros just get killed instantly.
Probably the only map I would quit back in the day.
>You rush to centre and you can see the opposite side rushing to centre.
>3 Droideka's roll up the ramp and shield before you can do anything
>Dooku is right behind them
You just run and hide as everyone dies around you
>tfw last match we did exactly that
With us on their interior the bombers got free hits on their exterior. Quickest match I've had in a good while.
>reinforcements down to 1
>think you're the last guy
>see an AI teammate running around
Did you protect him?
>Playing in Jabba's palace
>hide in the corner behind Jabba, with the ammo droid
>send my remote droids down the hallway and snipe people down the corridor
>detonate when they are coming up the stairs
That was probably the only time I've ever used these things effectively, but it was so satisfying.
I remember winning a naboo match in about a minute.
Basically just went in a circle to the outside posts and somehow end up capturing all of them.
>tfw no orbital strike
>camping an ammo droid
>endless orbital strikes
Holy shit I actually laughed at this post, I'm not sure if it's real or bait.
Literally no one from BF2/2142 works at DICE anymore. BC2, BF3/4 and Hardline are all garbag, so will BFIII.
>1 CP left
>Faggot droids are camping in one of the circular rooms on the left of the map
>Literally fucking 10 in that 1 room, 2 droidekas
>Send Recon Droid all the way from council room
>10 kills and an almost immediate win
>tfw you get do drive this thing before your team mates
>get one of those big fucker spaceships that you can use as a respawn point
>land it inside enemy ship
>AI pilots it and fly's it into the wall
>mfw using landing craft as a respawn point directly into the enemy ship
>rally the meatshields.
>go off to the side to shoot down every fucker attacking said meatshield.
>Droidekas can't roll quickly into the battlefield without getting gunned down.
>faggot grievous thinks he can be charge straight into me and kill me
Never velt better /v/
>Just fucking frantically running around the map, looking at my hud to figure out where the little shit is
>Whereever you are, just fucking hide somewhere little dude
>Spot the AI's cursor coming up on my map, but it's flashing, in combat
>Come on you little busta, get em.
Son of a bitch
>Everybody is putting mines by their hangars, since they OHKO tanks
>There are about 4 tanks just stuck there in space
>One of them starts going fast and building momentum
>He jumps out at the last second as the tank slides into our hangar, since Mines don't OHKO empty tanks
>He quickly runs inside after it and uses it to wreck our shit
>OUR LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN DESTROYED
>that one ballsy engineer who would run outside and healthpack himself across to sneak in and wreck shit with his shotgun
I laughed my fucking ass off when I first OHKO'd a tank by accident with that. It's really annoying on maps like Endor where faggots put Mines on the front of their speeders and just ram you and your tanks. I seriously had some faggot do that today and put like, 4 mines on all sides so he was literally CHARGING through our lines.
>In Space Battle

best times I've had on BF2
>tfw using the Commander on Kamino
>mfw that was me
Engineer was the best class. Perma flachette shotgun made anyones asshole paste, detpacks were op as fuck for killing jedi and you were nigh unkillalble.
>tfw in a snow speeder alone

>switch to passenger
>faggot pilot flies in circles, lands, gets out and runs away

>sneak behind enemy CP
>lots of little fights breaking out at different points of the map
>fighting was rarely focused in one area
I know Felucia gets shit on, but I had some good time there.
>camp someplace far away from the main battle
>set up next to ammo droid
>snipe people from the outer platforms
>enemies don't know what hit them
The islands and the docks were both great fun.
>playing dark trooper on that map
>we will never have as much fun with a multiplayer shooter than we did with BF2/BF1
>BF3 will undoubtedly be shit, or at best mediocre and ridden with bugs, microtransactions, dlc etc
I can see it now.

>half is in space, can only breathe out there while in a ship
>unless of course you play CIS
>spawn as engie
>camp the exterior hacking into enemy ships with blowtorch
>once they get booted out just camp in their vehicle and watch them suffocate
It was always the little things that impressed me in 2. Stuff like the functional garbage chute on death star and all the subsystem rooms in space battles. Also I remember having grenade contests in 1 where we'd go to Kashyyyk and see which one of could launch ourselves further from the top of the walkways
>scopin people as sniper
>AI has a sixth sense when your cursor lands on their head
>dodge rolls out of the way, even if they're a mile away and facing the other direction
How do you deal with these fuckers in battlefront 2 as clone infantry? I always chuck thermals like a pleb
>Rhen var harbour as the empire
>Taking the AT-AT straight into the middle of the buildings and blasting anything that moved.
>Smaller vehicle cleans up the rest
>Jump out before it blows up and steal a rebel vehicle
>Carry on killing before the AT-AT respawns
What would be in your perfect Battlefront 3 /v/?
>BF2 combat system
>BF1 and BF2 maps plus ~20 or so new ones
>Up to 128 player online
>Same screen coop remains
>Same class system, with maybe the addition of 1-3 new classes for each faction
>No xp, unlocks, attachments, etc.
>Hero battles an option on all maps
>devs/publishers are purposely forgoing modding support/making games unmoddible so they can sell more dlc
Did any of us ever think it was going to get this bad?
This nigga knows
>Bloody battle over the course of the whole map trying to break free from that cave
>Finally push out like a baby during birth. step out into the light, emerging from the cave as a victor
>Get blown up by a grenade
>the cycle continues
That's why I said up to, some maps it would work on and others it would not
Hoth with 128 would work great, and space battles would be sweet
Something like Polis Massa with 128 would be hell. Funny once in a while but hell
Unless you were a droideka
>just ignore everyone and roll by the first wave
>stop in their CP right next to health droid
>unfold and start laffin
Going outside is for pussies. Trying to take the eastern side of the map is such an uphill battle it's more worth it to just hunker down in the caves and win the war of attrition
>Hop in the AT-AT
>Walk it straight down their fucking throat
>"Well I'm inside the harbor itself, it's a shame though I can't get to the spawn."
>Move forward, AT-AT slowly takes a step up
>yfw you win by CP shutout with more than 100 enemy reinforcements left
Decrease the unit variation. I think BF1 did it the best, having too many varied and wacky units with gimmicks made it less fun and tactical. It's more fun when almost everyone is just basic troops, and there might be a sniper or an engineer on the team.
>based EA will be supporting the latest battlefront game with great DLC
>no one has mentioned this map yet
>Fly large ship over to Enemy base so I can use it as a spawn point
>"Friendly" AI gets in the ship and crashes it into the wall
I also generally disliked the differing appearances. In all the movies, almost all the fighting troops on either side generally look the same. Even if it's for gameplay purposes, it just makes more sense in setting, when everyone looks the same. I'd prefer to be able to just choose a rocket launcher, rather than playing as some class with a costume that is maybe seen once in some specific scene in any of the movies.
>spawn as droideka
>clones BTFO in 2 minutes flat
>tfw playing kashyyyk on the beachfront as clones
>pushed back to last point, desperately trying to hold the gate
>reinforcement count dwindling, CIS scum have plenty to spare
>this music kicks in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1T9-wxjm0U
A map so perfect they didn't even have to change anything for the sequel.
Although I wish they kept the plains.
Imagine if they make it an actual battlefront game? My fucking god it would be so amazing i think i'd die. The battles would be beautiful, DICE does know how to make a game look good.
I know it won't be but i still hope. i dread E3 and the inevitable disappointment.
>Always play as Rebels on Hoth Hunt
>AI Wampas are slow and suck dick
>Mfw player Wampa charges right at you at top speed
i dont think ive experienced a sense of dread that severe in any other game like that
>clone brothers dying left and right, slaughtered like helpless lambs
>iron horde advancing without any sign of slowing down
>that goddamn wailing at 0:40 playing in the background of it all
>those niggas who jump in the fountains and lie down so no one sees them jacking the CP
It was released already. On PSP.
I prefer Battlefront to Battlefront II. Is there anybody else who feels the same way?
>The final sections of wall break down
>The droids swarm the gap, bringing up whatever armor can fit in the crush
>That sense of coming doom
>Playing a darktrooper

>pop pop pop, watching the scum drop.
Reminder that engineers > all
>decent damage weapon, one shots most people at close-range
>can passively heal vehicles and turrets, repair healing stations
>can heal and give ammo to themselves in the middle of battle
I do as well, 2 just felt like it had too many bells and whistles tacked on. 1 was plain but straightforward and fun. Plus, 2 felt like it put a lot heavier focus on the prequels.
>playing War Thunder to this track
Feels so right man
>Battlefront 1 dune sea map
>but with AI Rancors who randomly go around the map just killing people

>Third person is probably going to go
>Space Battles are going to be neutered, too confusing and not enough action for casuals. You know some /v/irgins are going to dominate all the kiddies and get the whole thing taken down
>Shipped with bugs for fixes in later patches
Search your heart. You know it to be true. You know the industry now.
>playing Yavin IV as Republic
>some faggot is slaughtering us as Maul
>stick a mine on a tank and ram him with it
My friend loves to play as the heroes and I just always trick him into stepping right on the mine.
1 also has:
>better unit-map scale
>proper 3-way battles
>galactic conquest which doesn't boil down to doing one of three space battles every turn
>no heroes to commit mass genocide with
I understand why people shit on the prequels so much, but I'd be lying if I said didn't think the clones and the clone wars were cool as shit. I want some sort of Band of Brothers type show following a clone legion or something.
I once managed to make a break for it at that point and found a vehicle.
I just rammed them at full speed from behind, firing everything.
I imagine the last few surviving friendly AI saw me as some kind of god before I exploded
>Watching as the Sarlacc pit gets it and drags it screaming down.
>There will never be a fully playable, entire battle of Endor
>Half of the players are on the moon fighting to the shield bunker
>Other half of the players are in space, the Rebel fleet trying to hold off long enough till they can go in to blow the Death Star II
>At least one player on the Empire side gets to control the actual Death Star and shoot at capitol ships every once in awhile
Bonus points for a little after-match minigame where the MVP of each team get to square off as Luke and Vader in the throne room.
anon I haven't bought a battlefield game since BC2. I almost never buy DLC.
However, I will buy this game as long as DICE doesn't COMPLETELY fuck this game up on the most basic level. I'll maybe even bite the bullet and buy some of the DLC if it's good enough.
Just this once tho.
Sorry for an Omega Pleb question, but is this series worth getting into? Is it ok to jump straight into the newest game or should I actually try to play the older games?
And does the older games have live/reliable online scene still?
What was everyone's favorite classes?
I liked playing shock troops/rocket troops. Something about taking that rocket launcher and those mines into tight spaces was so much fun. That and the vehicle damage.
Don't forget: Class systems are an archaic concept. Prepare for customization out the ass, and not in a good way.
The playing field always felt fairly leveled since you knew everyone had the same guns. Now you'll have no fucking clue. Special guns can work in some titles, but this BattleFront. A class heavy Star Wars battle simulator. It's fucking ogre
Yeah you're right now that I think about it, in 1 the maps seemed MASSIVE.
Also yeah, heroes. I actually don't mind the idea of heroes, but not how they were done in 2 at least, felt like you were on a fucking egg timer.
Best places for mines
>the front of a speeder
>directly underneath an empty enemy vehicle
>just inside a doorway
>in the grass
>behind a health droid
>directly on top of the CP hologram projector
It would probably be done the same as in Elite Squadron. Pay X amount of points to equip this personal shield generator.
It's really evident if you go on Mos Eisley as the Empire and walk up to a nearby door in both. The door is bigger than you in BF1, you're taller than the door in BF2.
>they have 2 great games to work off of, I know its EA but it would be quite an accomplishment to make it completely unplayable
Oh just you watch. It's not even entirely EA's fault. Vidya is a different place now. This game WILL conform to the new standards and trends, and it WILL suck
Only thing that would get me to buy BF3 is if it has playable, and properly made
The docks from the first game were like that too.
>tfw hiding in the towers as the Empire/CIS captures the town hall.
They would be to busy with SW VII tie in content.
>after-match minigame where the MVP of each team get to square off as Luke and Vader in the throne room.
oh shit thats actually really cool. The winner could get his team some sort of bonus in the next round or something
>piloting the AT-TE on Geonosis with the lil' brother manning the back guns.
>that constant noise of endurance/guardian/war hero always being active

NEED THAT HEALTH DROID REPAIRED SO YOU CAN GET THAT GOOD SHIT WHILE CAPPING THE POINT? ON IT.
NEED THAT ENEMY TANK SPLICED? TAKEN CARE OF.
NEED A HALLWAY LOCKED DOWN WHILE YOU CAP? DETPACKS FOR DAYS, MY CLONE BROTHER.
And of course nothing beat surprise bum rushes with the Shotgun. Fuck, I loved that Shotgun. The firing sound was so deliciously chunky.
>Imagine being the one guy to land the shot and start the self-destruct
You fucking know every match would have a bunch of assholes sabotaging their teammates so they could have the glory for themselves.
>all these pansies playing as clones
>not playing as glorious CIS master race
We may be CIS scum, but at least we're not promoting faggotry with rainbow squads.
>tfw I've played as CIS roughly 60% of the time since I first tried Battlefront
>tfw it eventually got to the point where I'd go 1-on-3 in Galactic Conquest against my friends because they hated the CIS so much after a while
>tfw I'd stomp them entirely
>Core is hit and self destruct sequence begins
>That expanding explosion beginning from the core and moving out in all directions
>Match doesn't end and Rebels don't get victory till that last guy is out
>All rebel players outside the death star get to share his vision
>Empire players still get to try and gun him down
>If he does get destroyed, match just ends as victory for the Rebels anyway
>If he makes it out though, get to see the cutscene of the Death Star exploding
Fucking hated that, especially in BF2, it looked so stupid with all the different armor. At least in BF1 they at least all had the same armor with just different color stripes.
>try to tell friend how great battlefront 2 is and that he should get it on steam
>watches a youtube video for 20 seconds and says he doesn't like it
Anyone else notice CIS have a big advantage over Republic on inclosed maps well the Republic has an advantage over CIS on open maps?
>start clone VS CIS match
>run off and spectate the entire game
>5 minutes later CIS victory imminent
>35 vs 3
Nah, just limit it that like, each of the main 2 teams needs to have a minimum ratio of players before the 3rd team can be chosen.
Or, the 3rd team can only ever have like, 5 players max.
Not just that, but all the weapons Magna Guards have seem better suited for close range. Along with that an Engineer Droid can easily give health packs to a Droideka acting as a wall in a hallway well the Super Battle Droids can get a clear missle shot down said hallway.
However Magna Gaurd ability can't hit enemies outside of it's range, and Droidekas need to roll to get to the battlefield more making them a lot more sustainable to damage.
On the other end, a Republic Clone Commander gots more space to flank and mow down enemies. And Jet Troopers can fly to areas most people don't look for, something they can't to on enclosed maps.
>you will never storm Geonosis as a clone trooper for the first time ever
>you will never patrol the jungles of Felucia for the first time
>you will never repel the CIS scum on the beaches of Kashyyyk for the first time again
It makes me wanna cry knowing how unsatisfying and unlike the first two the third one is going to be
Yes, really. You get up close to a vehicle and hold down the trigger until the percentage reaches 100 percent. At that point the person driving it is teleported outside, and you're free to enter it.
>Hoth Hunt on a 32 man PC server
>the horror of the line failing and everyone on the turrets being overcome by wampas
>more and more keep coming
>the last man standing hides in that little doorway area west of the transport
>Tfw you do this to a vehicle with a turret
>You get into the turret and the driver tries to get out and blow it up
>You shoot them dead before they're able to and take control of the driver's seat
Fighting human-controlled wampas is the most futile thing. They're stupid fast, stupid strong, and stupid tough. Just a wave of giant white apes flying through the air going ninja kung fu on everyone. Horrifying.
>play as droid pilot
>sneak up under enemy AT-TE
>hijack said AT-TE and proceed to slaughter clones for as long as I can
Droids were always my favorites, but I did like the Republic's vehicles a lot better, so I always tried to use them as CIS.
Also not many people knew that on hoth hunt mode you could sneak to the destroyed shield generator and repair it (required multiple engineers if you wanted to actually do it before the map ends) and doing so let's the rebels spawn on both sides of the wampa camp thus flanking them
But you can't pilot enemy command vehicles
Kek, you almost managed to make me feel.
At least there are mods to add new things to toy around with.
>mfw realizing the magna's rocket launcher thing can lock on and home in
