The model variety of the necromorphs is top notch, and although the weapon customization was ultimately inferior to the previous game's weapon system, it had great potential. Even some of more controversial changes were good, like making the babies into dogs (I fucking love The Thing).

Floating around in orbit for the first time was neat as hell, as are pretty much all of the zero-g sequences in Dead Space, and getting from point A to point B on the frozen surface was especially exhilarating without the helmet's seal or whatever. It's the general pacing and characters of the story that put a downer in it for me, that whole love triangle between Isaac and Ellie and what's-his-shit was done so stupidly, and just the way each protagonist, including Isaac, was behaving was completely off-cue with how they were introduced into the other games of the series. That said, I should really replay it soon, now that this rig is built. DS2 is still my favorite.

Looking back on the 3rd one, it really was a decent Dead Space game. The only problem was the co-op affecting the story and the ending.
Its a really good atmospheric portrayal of a isolated base in Alaska. It gives you this cold,hollow,lonely and slightly desparate feeling while you're trying to sneak your way through. The VA was god tier , by some divine will Hayter got a cold and it really gave the feeling of being cold, plus the low quality audio gave off this echo sound which perfectly fit the hollow halls of the base.
I might be wearing nostalgia goggles, but every time i replay it , i love it even more.

I can't honestly say if I liked it or not. I loved most things about it, but hated the feeling that I got through most of the nights by what felt like a sheer luck.

I actually don't even like Batman. Never liked any part of the franchise. Never liked the aesthetics. Never cared for the whole american gothic theme to begin with. Yet this game still managed to grasp me tightly. In fact, I loved the atmosphere so much that I started doubting my previous thoughts on Batman and on the whole american gothic aesthetics for a while.
Sadly, playing any of the follow-up games, or even watching the movies and trying to read some of the comics did not feel anywhere close to this game.
I won't say to expect anything from it, just keep in mind that it's a bit dated, and the controls might be a bitch to adjust to. If you can get past that, you're in for a ride. Bonus points if you play it while it's cold/windy outside.

The low visibility,the sense of confinement and desolence as well as the balanced pacing of the planet section and the free fly form of exploring the flotila were actually well executed. You can actually see how in many places the devs were trying to resist or contain EA bullshit. The true BAD parts were the bongers shifts in pacing against human enemies and everything after you reach the machine,the overscoring of every encounter (up to this day Dead Space 1 remains the best game in terms of sound with the creepiest ambient noise and such) and of course the limited coop exclusive content. the game would have been a 7/10 if standalone but given the shoes it had to fill it became a 6/10. Decent but no cookie.

A laughably shallow rip-off of Twin Peaks and King that cannot resist going "LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT HOW MUCH WE LOVE TWIN PEAKS AND KING, DID YOU GET THAT? DID YOU GET HOW MUCH TOTALLY WE ARE REFERING TO THOSE TWO? DO YOU LIKE ME YET?!" routine every two fucking steps. Linear as fuck, clumsy as fuck, poorly told story with INSANELY unlikable characters acting like absolute fucking retards all the fucking time, no story cohesion, a gimmick that may have sounded good on paper, but the way it's utilized just keeps spoiling the plot (which makes the story make even less of a fucking sense), in-your-face design that treats the player like a fucking retard all the time, pisspoor pacing...
There was hardly anything that wasn't wrong with the game. It's a textbook collection of "how not to design a horror game".
