post best weapons/weapons
you know the rules
Anyone want to help me grind some Zinogres, maybe doing some other HR5 quests later.
Dem Jaspers, fucking 3% drop rate. Desire sensor is stronk,
Yes, it's a good starting point.
I'm sure it's possible.
Considering you can easily put in 500+ hours into each game, by the time you reach MH4, 5 will probably be out.
Just start with 4. None of the stories continue, or even matter, and everything you need to learn you learn from the community and by playing.
>Started 4U today
>People referring to Felyne companions as ''Palico''
What the fuck
What is even a Palico, Jesus Christ
Don't listen to those retards. Yes hit the face but the most important thing is that you mount that shit 1-2 times. It does good dmg on his head. Some people kill him by only hitting his head and still get not break if they don't mount him
>Joining rooms with one dude in them to try and help out
>"This dual swords fella is alone, I will lend a hand"
I left, they do not deserve to get farther than they currently are
Talk to the cat in your house and download the pack that gives you items and you can make 1 mario or luigi set
What are you not skilled enough to gather some eggs? Simple enough one would think
>Deliver 2 powderstone
>Get hit by anything, drop it and it explodes
>Thought I could drop it in water
>It still fucking explodes
Who thought this was a good idea.
FUCK I CANT MAKE A DECISION
IM THINKING ABOUT MAKING THE HR MONOBLOS ARMOR
ATTACK UP XL AND ADRENALINE +15 (I have a +5 Attack talisman to make it work) AND HAVE 4 SLOTS LEFT OVER
ATTACK UP XL, SPEED SHARPEN, AND ADRENALINE +10 (+10 only gives more defense, +15 gives 30%+ attack) WITH ONE SLOT LEFT OVER
ATTACK UP L, SPEED SHARPEN, AND ADRENALINE +15 (add a talisman with 2 slots, allowing me to get +15 and speed sharpen, but no attack XL)
IM FREAKING OUT OVER HERE AND ALL I GOT IS HR JAGGI ARMOR
PROGRAM IS PING'S MH4U DEX FOR PC AND MAC
It's new, everyone hates it and you feel like a fucking god with it.
Full HR Velociprey set, gemmed to give Attack up L. Saw me all the way through HR to downing Kushala.
Try the demo or emulate a psp title to make sure you like it before dropping the money on it.
But yeah, this one has the best introduction for a newbie, is the most polished, has the most content, and once you git gud, there will be more people to play with online.
There's no running plot or really anything more than you are a hunter, there are monsters causing trouble, go kill those monsters for us.
W-whats guard point...
So whos playing with rooms open at the moment? Anyone farming anything for materials? I'm in high rank but i'm down for low rank destruction too
Honestly I would say lance is the most 'solid' weapon out of them all, as it allows you to dodge, guard, with an always steady stream of damage ( and always the 'best' damage as it's both slash and blunt, and will use the highest value ). You can also do air attacks regardless of location, something only the IG can do otherwise. If it has any faults, it's that it has no burst damage, something the gunlance makes up for, but in turn lacks the same steady damage output the lance has.
Honestly I'd say play lance if you want to learn a monster in and out, as it allows you every option in the game to respond towards them in turn.
CB and Hammer
CB is what SA should have been. It's got a nice system to manage and feels cool as hell. Hammer is for dealing satisfying charged smacks and then watching the monster not react to them so it's a bit like GS only less mindless and boring.
My gear is Velociprey I can see my girls panties feels good man
MOOT WHAT IS UP WITH THESE FUKKEN CAPTCHAS
>>What weapon do you play?
All of them, I pick a weapon depending on the monster I'll be fighting.
>>Why should somebody try it out? What's so good about your shitty weapon?
No brag, just pick whatever you like and go crazy
>>Brag about your gear.
I kinda love using the starter caravan gear
At the end of your roundslash (third A move) and at the start of your switch to axe mode animation, your shield is in front of your hunter, if you get hit at this point during those animations, you automatically block it with smaller knockback. When in boost mode, this also creates a large explosion that damages the monster.
Any gunlance users want to share some information on their weapon? I'm gonna pick it up soon, after I pick one to make. Like do use normal, long, or wide? What role do you take in a multiplayer fight? What's the highest damage you can do on a downed enemy? That kinda stuff.
Dayum that's a p. high skill ceiling, guess I'll watch that vidya to see if theres any secrets to gitting gud I never realised.
>Still playing 3U since I can't get 4U yet
>Just killed Goldbeard for the first time
>Carved both a Deep Dragongem and a Dark Dragongem from it right after each other
The desire sensor is going to tear me a new one later, isn't it?
I can explain the shell types, Wide shells gain boosted damage if you charge them before firing, Long shells get more damage if you use wyvern fire, and normal gets a damage boost after you do the slam attack and press a which shoots out all your shells at once like a shotgun.
Fuck I hate Monoblos
>runs around all the time
>screams all the time
>digs and gets shit every where
>annoying as shit
Also he broke my shock trap and fucking left the area as soon as soon as I almost lured him into a pitfall trap, which he was standing over but somehow didn't trigger
Fuck Monoblos. What a shitty fucking monster. Same goes for 90% of the other flying wyverns and other things that share the same flying wyvern skeleton.
>cart to a monster
>dies in one hit when you get back to it
I fucking hate G rank
Don't pick GLs based solely on their shelling. First it is RAW, then sharpness, then element and shell level/type last. Personally I find that Wide>Long>Normal since full burst isn't exactly my cup of tea (Wide is the best DPS wise though).
Hit it until it dies, like any other weapon.
Your basic 4 hit combo (Forward X>X>X>X+A) followed with your preferred type of shelling, followed with the combo if the monster is still down.
Actually it's not that hard. The block frames happen the split second you transform and last for long enough that as long as you know when you're going to get hit, you should have no trouble blocking it.
Protip: Transforming with R+X+A from idle has fewer transform frames than X/A>R+X, but the Kick button from idle does the full length transform.
>mfw soloing the heat exhaustion quest in mh4u
I've maxed out on sonic bombs
It really doesn't help that the almost all of the points I can hit him when he's like that make my GS bounce even with blue sharpness
And sometimes the sonic bombs don't see to work even when they're thrown directly over him
>not having capture guru all the time with all your sets
Somewhat, yes. Ammo consumption is a bitch though.
No. Status shots are scarce as fuck and have ridiculously high recoil. They end up being a complete hindrance DPS wise
>>Completing the last one unlocks fatalis
Bullshit. I don't want to go back and deal with those. Please anon, lie to me and say you're joking.
Also HOW DO YOU UNLOCK CARAVAN TEOSTRA/KIRIN/ANY LOW RANK ELDER DRAGON
>kill seltas queen, carve
>read thread while waiting for countdown
>cats kill seltas while I'm not looking
>Wide Gunlance best Gunlance and I will hear nothing to the contrary.
That's unarguable though.
2 charged Wide shots do more explosive damage than a normal full burst, while being combo able, faster, and less opening based (plus damn they don't leave you as open).
Extra power from long WF is nice though.
Jesus fucking Christ. I think I just got a fucking brain aneurism from fighting Frenzied Brachy with Glaive. The fucking blood vessels in my eyes were popping and I got fucking gimped on getup twice by nontelegraphed double-hit explosion punches, all while barely able to keep any form of extract because he's Coldsteeling behind me and shit.
Brachy went from fucking piss easy to easily the most fucking undesirable monster to fight in the span of one game. Fuck that guy.
As a glaive user who just also fought him, what IG are you using? Do you use the back jump/hop to try and get away from him mid combo? The kinsect is also a valid way to do some damage if you don't want to get close, just sic it on Brachy and wait until either a jump opening or you can hop in yourself.
I'll admit I have G-Rank stuff so it was probably way easier for me but I'll give whatever advice I can.
Even Japan doesn't even have all the dlc yet, there still isn't a G rank dalamadur
And crimson fatalis was released months after release of vanilla 4 so there is a lot before it
Hm...Is there any way to play LBG online other than status support? Like, can I focus on elemental DPS instead? Maybe even Steve LBG with Normal2/3? Or is HBG better for multiplayer DPS?
>Black Gravios will now show up in high-rank expeditions!
CAN WE FUCKING TALK ABOUT HOW RATHIAN AND RATHALOS ARE A COUPLE OF FAGGOT ASS NIGGERS WHO SUCK DICK?
SERIOUSLY, FUCK THEM AND THEIR INPUT READING NONSENSE AS WELL AS THEIR BULLSHIT HOMING IN ON YOU POISON AND THEIR CONSTANT FLYING AWAY FROM YOU THUS MAKING YOU UNABLE TO ATTACK IF YOU ARE A FUCKING SWORD USER
FUCK THESE MONSTERS I WOULD RATHER THEY BE CUT BUT THE STUPID FUCKING JAPS INSIST ON 'MUH TRADITION'
Elemental can work as long as you know where to hit for it but if you want to do ranged damage I'd suggest an HBG 9 times out of 10.
The only exception being monsters that close distance super fast and aggressively which makes using a HBG way more difficult.
It was just a fucking super high difficulty spike; I had no trouble with Brachy in 3U, proceeded to best Frenzied Jho and have been dominating village and caravan with my collection of excavated and crafted glaives; I brought Sect Happa+ with like 100 something speed on the mission. It's just that he's not only faster than in 3u but he hits like a fucking truck and the telegraphs he had in that game are essentially gone. It was a war of attrition.
tigrex and seregios are both top tier horns right?
Play whatever you feel more comfortable with, MP wise only thing you should be avoiding is pellet RF (that and poorly aimed explosive shots). But yes, both bow and HBG are better DPS wise.
But you shouldn't worry much about it, shit is pretty negligible specially when you have while you have your comrades aggroing the monsters.
Seregios LBG is godly though.
Azure Rathalos is more annoying with his instant aerial swoops.
Yeah I kind of psyched myself out for it because the first time I did it I got rocked instantly. Went back in and it was easy. I have the Sand Fauchard and I'm working on doing the stupid effect extender bug.
Hi. I'm a Lance user. Rath's are the fight I love the most because they are easy to abuse. I'm sorry Great Sword user, maybe you should switch to Charge Blade if you're having a hard time? I hear it's damage output is all the rage right now.
Who the fuck decided to give normal Rathalos Azure's instant homing poison talons? I swear to fuck you cannot dodge this without shielding or diving and this faggot will do it when he's all the way on the other side of the fucking area.
Do I need to go online and read about the stats and elements and what the fuck ever because I've never played monster hunter before and it seemed like something I could get into but these menus are loaded with shit I don't understand
I probably could have reached G rank in the same amount of time i've spent killing Najarala after Najarala for that FUCKING Beak.
Never in my (admittedly short) time of playing MH have I been so consistently shit on by the desire sensor.
It took me a quarter of this time to make the entire Jho armor, weapon included, in 3U.
>tfw that's my plan
>tfw this stupid effect extender bug is ruining IG for me because its almost mandatory but requires a shit load of materials and zenny.
Yes. They are some of the best dragon damage weapons in the game, and all have good RAW for their style + affinity.
Just note that Dragon damage isn't the end all, be all in this game like it was in Tri. You'll want other stuff as side arms.
Bow is my 2nd favorite weapon, HBG is pretty fun for all that power house, LBG is pretty cool
until the RF awe-effect runs out and you end up with a low damage dealing weapon.
Crafted the whole set and the Glaive.
Its pretty good, but I don't even care how it preforms. I just love purple/black color schemes.
>Rathian/Rathalos will never be cut from the game or redesigned to not be bullshit
I'm looking to try a new weapon, currently playing GL give me suggestions please.
More damage if the monster is weak to it
Para=hold shit still
Sleep=hold shit still till you hit it, that hit gets 4x damage (or something like that)
exhaust=monsters get tired and slow down
I've gotten about 6 glaives up to the point where I need to get to G-rank to complete them; I just get points and money from everything and can afford all the speed nectars and haven't used any of the stamina and powers so I'm secure in my place as nectar governor.
In hindsight I don't know how I got where I did. I guess it's just dedication to the weapon.
4U does a great job of actually teaching you how to play the game, and is a hell of a lot less rough to stay drawn into, a lot of my casual friends stuck with it because of the caravan story, and from the times I've played online with them by doing it they've actually learned a thing or two about how to play... Unlike the longsword shitters in 3U
How do I git gud with gunlance? How come that angled jab hit weaker than straight jab considering most monsters are way taller than you?
Also, I'm considering to build another weapon for cutting tails. Which is better DB or SA?
SA is better for cutting tails by far thanks to its insane reach. If you want to cut tails with DB, most of the time you have to trip monsters first. It's not impossible by any means, just more of a hassle.
I've had this since it came out, but am I too far behind to even start playing this game? Been playing through MM first but close to beating it. Wanted to wait because I knew MH would take up most of my gaming time once I started playing it
tvtropes isnt tumblr levels of bad...i always thought it was neutral, i don't even go to tumblr
Yeah you might as well just sell it now, you missed the boat bigtime
Can I get some switch axe tips? I've been Insect Glaive all through low rank but I'm getting tired of feeling like I constantly need buffs up.
When I'm in sword mode, should I just be walking around that slow? Or should I only switch to sword mode when I have an opening? I spend most of my time in axe mode.
And when I'm in axe mode, it feels like I rarely have a chance to do much other than the forward x poke. The standing X has a pretty long wind up, so I tend to save it for when I flinch or trip a monster.
What should be my go-to on a tail when I knock something over?
>What should be my go-to on a tail when I knock something over?
Depends how low the tail sits, do the X combo in sword mode if it sits low, if it flails a little higher, do a discharge with sword mode.
As someone brand new into monster hunter, what are some of the best tips you can give?
I think I understand the basics, its like the 5 D's of dodgeball
other than that, what are some of the best tips you can give someone who's a complete beginner to the entire series. my friend got me the game to play with him and I want to stop sucking before I actually go online with him.
>Nightmare fuel page
>"Endgame monsters like Akantor can be pretty scary the first time you fight them, with attacks that can easily OHKO you, being larger than any monster you fought up to that point, and most of the areas you fight them in, you can't get back to the camp once you enter it. "
So is it possible to hack your health with powersaves? I assume all you have to do is decrypt the save, right?
Also, is it possible to hack the JP dlc cat costumes in? I want my animal crossing waifu
what sets are you guys using for bows right now? just ended lowrank village, using nerscylla & zamtrios, dont know what should i use for highrank, also using their respective bows
For an absolute beginner, I think it's pretty important to try out every single weapon, pick the one you like most (factor in no other criteria when choosing), and then focus on just the one weapon type. Sticking with just one will let you learn the flow of the game and its mechanics much better.
I use tumblr, but I only follow porn, drawfags and
currently airing anime. I find some pretty cool stuff and never see any feminism bullshit.
On the other hand, Reddit is 100% shit no matter where you go. The points system ruins everything by promoting circlejerking and shilling. Even if you found a community with quality content, it would be a terrible place to talk about anything because unpopular opinions can simply be voted out of existence.
Can anyone give tips on meals? What are some of the best combos? I'm about to do the urgent quest to get HR2.
Also outside of the combo books are the other books actually useful? I know the combo books increase the likelihood of doing the combination by 5% but I have no idea what the monster books do.
>quest: hunt a khezu
>red khezu shows up
>whenever I throw a dung bomb at it, both of them run away to the same zone
>if I find the white one on its own it fucks off almost immediately
>the red one manages to combo me to death when I wasn't paying attention
>white one refuses to die
I've never been this mad before, not even against the most bullshit monsters
I personally prefer using Bows and Light Bowguns. I like constantly peppering damage and status effects from a safe range, as well as halting a monster's escape.
I have no problem with any of the weapon classes in this game, I'm just happy to see so many players finding their own niche and not drifting towards a "one size fits all" trend of tierwhoring faggots online.
Find the armor and weapon that suits you personally. There's so much customization, you should have no problem designing a play-style that suits your individual strengths.
First priority is to negate bad resistance if you're fighting a monster of that element. If you fight a rathalos, a fireball will wreck your shit.
Slugger if you're hammering.
Ultra lucky cat/Carver Hi for drops.
I generally do meat + something (for attack) or fish + something (for defense). Pick whichever one is most appropriate for the fight. Like go with bread for stuff like damage negation, or veggies (I think) for elemental resistances. Those are the combinations I use, and I haven't done an awful lot of experimentation, so if someone has anything else to add that'd be great. Anyways hope it helps, I didn't get food at all back when I played 3U.
A starred ingredient will give you +10 health per star
A fresh ingredient will give you +25 stamina
Fish + Grains -> Fry
Gives you Defender Hi. Good if you get hit a lot.
Fish + Dairy -> Saute
Gives you good gathering skills
Fish + Dairy -> Steam
Gives you Supercat and Lander which are almost vital for finishing Egg quests
Experiment, find a set of skills you like, and I don't recommend that you eat for the tiny stat boosts that food give other than Stamina and Health
Reymet here, just wanted to say I love all of you who hunted with me tonight, if you are in this thread.
>not drowning yourself in MH to relieve yourself of depression.
Are you even a great hunter? Here have this to cheer you up.
If that song doesn't make you reminisce of a comfy village in the snow then go fuck off
Don't try it out, it's my weapon, anyone else who uses it will be a useless shitter that won't even charge and wonders why they keep bouncing.
Pic related, full Jinouga U, with a 2 slot Dragon attack 7/sheathing 3 talisman. Weapon is L'Oppresseur to abuse +3 dragon attack skill.
Also have a side talisman with Critdraw 7 to use with Brimsten Drakepride/Demolition Sword/Veined Graveblade/L'Apotheose
Great sword. Everyone ought to try it out, just because it's super easy to pick up, and insanely satisfying to use. Right now I'm using the super useful Gore / Ceanataur set for early sharpness + 1.
>On one of those fucking "carry the egg" quests
>One screen away from the red box
>MY FUCKING CAT BURSTS OUT FROM UNDERGROUND RIGHT WHERE I'M STANDING AND MAKES ME DROP THE GODDAMN EGG
I didn't even know that could happen.
>What weapon do you play?
maining HBG and GS right now, also very good with HH and hammers (beat g-rank in other games with them)
>Why should somebody try it out? What's so good about your shitty weapon?
because you do fucking insane damage at the cost of no mobility and paper armor. Makes the game fun again when it starts to feel easy with hammers etc. Also gives you a new option for fights that suck ass to melee, see Gravios.
>Brag about your gear.
I'm taking it slow, playing offline solo. Made rath soul gunner after only 4 runs, and I just upgraded my najarala HBG to rank 6 so I could take off the limiter. It's wrecking shit
GS, I like more mobile weapons that can do burst damage. I run crit draw so I go for openings and do some charged crit draws, cutting tails and breakin parts.
No one needs to try the GS out, we need more bow/bowgun users online. I mostly see IG CB and sparsed between other melee weapons online. Havent seen a single bow and i've seen like one bowgun user.
>HR S.Queen practically one shots me
>sidequest: sever deviljho's tail
So tell me if I got this right.
Affinity is the chance of doing a critial hit.
For example -15 affinity would mean that 15% of the time I will do a negative critical, doing less damage.
And with 15% affinity 15% of the time i'll do an attack that does extra damage.
With 0 affinity I'll never crit.
Am I correct?
Coming from Insect Glaive to trying out hammer and switch axe, I feel like I'm doing absolute shit-all.
Is this what the game is supposed to be like, and the insect glaive is just super powerful? Or am I just really bad at these now and not used to slow weapons? How often should these things be sheathed?
as much as you can get. I'd just guess around 400+
I ran g1 to part of g3 in the HR gore mix that gives challenger 2 sharpness+1 and bio researcher. I just armor sphered it up as much as I could.
>56 Azu. Rathalos down and no Rubies.
>tfw I need two
>brother gets game
>I grind for gore lr and nerscylla hr, not too bad
>brother chooses fucking arena coin armor low rank and fucking seltas queen high rank
>we both get consistently bodied over the past few days
>brother has various high rank parts
>amalgamates a set with enough defense to not die in one hit
>the grind continues
Fuck Gurren lagann
Playing video games with you guys warms my heart. /v/ may be a laughingstock, and it may be a stinking pile of shitposting and flame wars, but whenever I play a game with you guys you're all so happy and pleasant.
