Why is trance music the best for listening to while playing vidya?
>listening to dance music casually
I don't get it. Why? What's so fun about listening to repetitive gay club songs?
Why is Clue the best movie to watch while playing video games?
We all know Vaporwave is the best music while playing games
>implying jungle is not best for fast-paced arena shootan
Holy fuck that second one is out of control
''hurf durf why dont you listen to my obscure indie rock bands''
Because music is the most tribal of the arts. Early humans were tapping their feet to jungle beats long before they started painting on walls. As such it's very personal and people will take it to heart if you say what they listen to is shit, or imply another genre is better.
>playing Quake CA
>last one alive on the team
>jungle track comes on
>adrenaline kicks in, go on a murderous railgun rampage
Jungle is the fucking best.
Get some taste
I listen to DnB while playing fast-paced games, mostly neurofunk and techstep.
I can dig this.
House / Dance here.
And sometimes Trihop / Techno / Breakbeat.
It's common sense that Freeform took Trance and made it way better.
>listening to music while playing games
games are one part audio, one part video. that is the only sensory feedback. it's like watching a movie blindfolded.
Hooray, a vidyer music thread
Duke Of Harringay's (Squarepusher) tracks are also pretty funky.
It's cheesy but I listen to these bad late 90s song all of the days
Yeah, me neither. We'll always have Era Of Diversion I guess.
>I REALLY LIKE AMERICAN GIRLS THEY ARE SO PRETTY
John B is fucking based, but he's an exception.
Freeform is the fucking future of trance.
Best track from that album? My vote's for Reality Check
>mfw those drum solos
Middle Of The Night. It's something about those cheesy vocals.
While we're on the subject of music, can somebody recommend me something simillar to Shobaleader One ?
Trance is becoming pretty niche these days, since the massive crowds of sheep who were listening to it when it was popular in the late 90s / early 2000s listen to exclusively big room house now.
Hell, even dubstep lost a big part of it's popularity.
Believe it or not, most people don't give a shit about a genre's popularity, except for a small percentage of /mu/tards or hipsters in general.
Listened to this while playing Dark Souls. It was a melancholy, lonely, wonderful experience.
The fuck is big room house?
Yeah, I've noticed wubwub dubstep has become somewhat rarer these days. I could've sworn it was only yesterday when every single gaming tournament stream had it.
Jesus christ. I wish itunes detected my album art.
They're just the flavor of the month genres that bring the crowds. I don't think there's anyone who couldn't predict that dubstep would be replaced by something else a couple years after it was huge.
I unironically enjoy tons of shitty music, so I think that's fine.
The most hype i've gotten in recent memory, is getting slightly drunk, playing the Wipeout HD OST, and playing Tribes: Ascend(Before it went to shit)
Oh god its already been 3 years.
maybe the best for racing games, but i dont know about much else
I've listened to most Aphex Twin's tracks, except for the new stuff. Thanks for the recommendation anyway.
It's all about L33T TRVP BEVTS now.
Yeah, same shit happened with break-beat (big beat) and then UK Garage , before it got replaced with something else.
Who really cares what some autists on the internet havbe to say >
I prefer goa and psy
>tfw J-Core is your huge guilty pleasure
I'm not even a weeb, I just like being happy
>not absolutely shit-tier
Synthwave master race.
Anyone else a fan? Surely synthwave can't be 'that' niche anymore thanks to all those neo-80s memeshit.
I think since I'm not from the UK, my tolerance of a lot of DnB stuff is really high, so I find myself liking a lot of amen breaky tunes. If I was being blasted by that shit at every festival 6 years ago though, I'd probably hate it as much as I hate all the crap in the US.
I remember trance got bad on the early 00's when celebs surged like Tiesto and DJ-personality cult began. Could it return to the underground and recover now?
It's kind of what happened to vydia.
Maybe I'm pleb for it, but every time a good power metal song comes on when I play a shooter, I get an adrenaline rush. I thought people that got adrenaline rushes while playing games were fags. A-am I a faggot, /v/?
>not listening to funkadelic when playing vidya
you guys are fucking faggots
People have stopped using the amen break that much anyway, except for jungle-ish artists like Om Unit.
My "guilty pleasure" is Japanese pop music from the 90s and I have no fucking clue why, I just stumbled upon Zard once and took it from there. All of it is absolute shit, as well.
As much as I'd absolutely love to hear trance make a come back, I really doubt it. And to be honest, I think one of its charms was the huge festival setting that people like Tiesto and Above and Beyond brought to it. Listening to trance in a small room with 50 people just wouldn't be the same I think.
I have that on a separate playlist for.. special occasions.
The entire NewRetroWave YouTube channel.
Probably not the best selection of recommendations, but it's a broad example.
Personally, I like the ones with the amateur vocals. But most of it is completely instrumental. I always get excited when someone wants to know more about the genre, because I'd happily shill for this stuff for the artists to gain more recognition.
Did you know that Bootsy Collins played the drums on that song? Bootsy Collins is the shit.
I'm a big fan of Zapp & Roger too
Rick James is that nigga too
>literally called themselves atheist
Cause it's not, ya mongoloid millennial
Perturbator is the only artist I've given paypal money just for the sake of it.
Also, dat Mega Drive - 198XAD
Also, dat ass.
What are some songs everybody likes ? The only one I can think of is this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jcojxeMibA
>Playing the Starship Troopers FPS
>Seriously underwhelmed even with 300 rendered bugs being gutted one after another 4/10
>Realize the sounds are lacking
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CIGHCoVzqtk on 300% game volume
It's now an 8/10
I already have it. My nigga. Pumpkin is a fucking masterpiece.
>Not blasting techno
>the song "Future Club" from that album
Perturbator is way too good, he's easily one of the more consistent Synthwave artists, up there with Mega Drive and Dance with the Dead.
The recent new-entry vocal artists that've been entering NRW's channel are pretty baller though.
Maybe you should recommend me your favourite albums.
>tfw started an office job just before christmas
>tfw getting fatter and fatter since I sit on my ass all day at work then feel too drained to do anything after work
>tfw starting to develop what look like man boobs
I'm starting lifting again next week, I can deal with being a bit chubby but there's no fucking way I'm getting man boobs. I used to work a manual labour job and even though it was physically demanding I always felt much more energetic.
Squarepusher is more IDM than DnB though, Drill'n'bass to be precise.
The only DnB he's ever done was under his Duke Of Harringay alliasv (no tracks have been posted on the internet sadly).
His best tune is Do you know squarepusher, other than that it's music he makes for himself rather than for others.
Best artist is Savant in terms of consistency production rate and creativity and he literally has autism.
im more of a hardstyle/ techno dude myself. i dont like soft or DnB shit. It needs to hit my head hard, im talking reverse bass, not that nustyle hardkick bullshit.
It's good for grinding. Playing PSO while listening to trance or any kind of electronic music really is nice. The OST's god tier by the way but after hearing the same tracks over and over again for 200 levels it gets tedious.
>Mom is musician
>Grow up listening Classic and Orchestra
>Still only listen to these
>People call me Hipster and other shit because I try to be a special snowflake
WHERE ARE MY HARDCORE BROS AT?
> i dont like soft or DnB shit. It needs to hit my head hard,
Then why won't you listen to something with actual balls like cross-breed / darkstep / breakcore, hell even speedcore hits harder than hardstyle.
Probably my absolute least favourite artist of the genre.
Trevor Something is pretty amazing though, shame his lyrics are almost exclusively about getting high with some girl you used to know.
Where's muh Le Cassette love?
anyone copped that new BBNG + Ghostface album? I rarely actually buy music but I'm probably going to order the vinyl
oh fuck I havnt even heard these genres before. I just typed " hard techno" long time ago and hardstyle showed up. this is the kind of shit I need to be listening to. thanks man. hory shit i've been missing out.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfe0RY0vf3OArBCba09Tqd9XVvkbkXrfi rate my taste
>tfw I got into the genre in the shittiest way possible
>play Hotline Miami
>people on /v/ recommend Drive via shitposting
>Drive has Kavinsky
>Kavinsky leads to Lazerhawk
>Lazerhawk leads to that new retro wave channel
>pretty much been a year and a half of eagerly awaiting new releases every monday
I don't know how to feel about your typical LiquidCity upload but Delta Heavy put out some decent stuff from time to time.
Why won't you give liquid funk and drumfunk some chance though ? Liquid V and 95-98 Moving Shadow are great places to start.
Always glad to help.
need more funk in this thread
I don't get why people refer to it as dubstep when there is absolutely zero dub influence anymore.
This is real dubstep
I never even liked dubstep when it was dubstep, I was just around for it I was more into grime
The only dubstep I still like is Milanese and
Chasing Shadows. In rest I've pretty much distanced myself from the genre, and I used to love brostep. lol
Best way to find new artists is through labels. And hell, register to a DnB forum and ask them for music, most times they're pretty open to newcomers.
Like /v/ but about music.
Fuck yeah fellow Trancebro
>there will never be a Need For Speed again with classic trance music
I think it was NFS3 that got me hooked on Trance and Electronica.
Now I pretty much exclusively listen to trance. Artists like Nitrous Oxide, Dan Stone, A&B and I fly. At least trance is the best music to drive to.
This is just awful. I studied music at Uni and it reminds me of the shit some of the hipster faggots would make.
>tfw I would make hip hop beats and throw M.O.P. or Sean Price accapellas over them for most of my assignments
I love that song.
It just really gets on my nerves when people say dubstep is shit because it's almost always in the context of someone like Skrillex or Knife Party being shit. Like come on dude, that isn't dubstep.
I've sort of gone off the genre a bit though but I used to love it a few years ago.
Are we posting hard tunes or something ?
Man I remember playing tons of CS 1.6 during recess and listening to this:
Trance is nice, but...
May the wheels of steel and the spirit of the funk never die.
I went to a weird club the other night with one of my friends where they played music like this and industrial.
It was also a leather and lace night so everyone was all white and pasty and dressed in bondage.
I felt like it was a scene from Blade
What's the name of that song that goes like "that's not me
asfhagffno, that's not me"
This is good music.
ACT LIKE A WASTEMAN THAT'S NOT ME
one line flows yeah i got summa dose
Slow down hardcore music and it becomes much more bearable.
I've never felt more neutral to a song in my whole life.
Anything with a vaguely video-gamey feel works for me.
He's a huge hit or miss for me. I really breakcore like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9ME0OEFTm0 and o'er the flood. But then there are his songs that are just nightcore crap.
I spent quite literally around 3 hours searching for "[Good song] nightcore" and having a breakdown over why someone would ruin something so great.
Seriously, what the ever-loving fuck.
Taste coming through.
I have to agree, I really dislike WISPAAS and some other bad lolicore like that (mlfaw is great though) but he has become one of my favourite musicians. I was also lucky enough to get a physical of mlsfaw a few days ago.
Please don't do this to me, Anon. Everytime I listen to nightcore my soul gets crushed into infinite rage.
>over 45 GB of Super Euro Beat
Shit man... I don't know if I should be excited or worried.
>not enjoying UK Hardcore and J-Core
It's almost like you hate being alive.
Lazerhawk is fantastic, but without sounding too much like an invested hipster faggot, it's way better to delve deeper into the genre, Lazerhawk is surface scratching.
Literally the wackest nigga that ever existed
>Run the Jewels
Estrogen in musical form
I don't know who that is so I can't comment
>Why is trance music the best for listening to while playing vidya?
Because it's designed to build and keep up tension and flow while being looping enough to stay similar sounding for longer times to create a background.
Also, because it's fast enough to keep up a sense of pulse and level of adrenaline.
Though the genre itself tends to be kinda cheap, try something proper like the more progressive stuff. None of that cheesy Dutch anthem crap.
Another thing Germans are good at.
Because it's such blank slate shit that it's essentially noise. Noise that blocks off all other thoughts and allows you to concentrate entirely on whatever you are doing. I sometimes blast goa trance from my headphones when I'm studying. It's totally shitty music that I wouldn't listen anywhere else but for that one purpose it's pretty good.
>not soaring to the skies by listening to uplifting trance
You have to let the tune build though.
-i love the first half of this song better than its main chorus.
I bet you faggots didn't even know a Japanese Daft Punk existed.
Overspecialized and Steppa are some good breakcore albums (and semantic compositions is good)
Nineties Rave Retrospective Vol. 1-3 are also good but each sounds quite different so I cant say you'd like it all.
If you like my love feels all wrong be sure to listen to my love STILL feels all wrong (he made two batches of physical copies that sold out within like 2 minutes each, I got one)
gnb is some nice dnb stuff.
goreshit/yeongrak split is nice if you like that sort of stuff.
Thats some stuff I can recommend.
This song is god tier everyone else go home, best song in thread
>Not listening to obscuremo while you play walking simulators
Get on my level plebs
Can one of you anons try explaining why Nightcore exists, or what there is to even like about it? It seems every "good song" I've heard is literally just a higher-pitched, sped-up version of an existing song or a few shitty chords endlessly repeated with a rhythm that sounds like it took a minute to think of. Am I wrong?
Pretty noice m8. /v/ usually has shitty taste in music
I was listening to Kraftwerk the other day again, and it just struck me how meticulously those sounds are designed. Usually in any early electronic music(even modern stuff) production values tend to be pretty off because of inexperience, but these guys made stuff that beats lots of modern stuff in just production and sound quality back in the 70's, and analog systems were all they had.
Germans are just born to do this stuff. Their trance is generally on the side of the better taste, typically understanding to not take itself too seriously.
>not listening to the dankest stoner meal
Germans and brits have their electronic music set straight.
Neosignal (Phace & Misanthrop) for example
Thank god, here I thought what I learned of music theory was somehow wrong.
No matter how much I try to explain to my little brother, he just doesn't seem to want to accept that his music is, by and large, complete shit and devoid of creativity.
Literally nothing wrong here.
IT'S TOO LATE TO LOOK BACK
I'VE GOT NO WAY TO SWITCH BACK
IT'S TOO LATE TO LOOK BACK, AIN'T
OKAY, I GOT NO WAY TO
I respect your right to have an opinion but don't you ever say something like that to me ever again.
Just looked them up, these fags are pretty much Edgy: The Band
I used to be a big fan of them too, used sadly.
The new Stahli song is pretty neat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zORs1YGiysY
He's past that edgy phase since Most Wanted was released.
They are not bands, they are both just a single guy who can play everything. I don't know who those niggers are but the red one is celldweller, he's not that edgy anymore, although he still has that edgy hair
