so /v/, this comes out tomorrow. you guys who have already bought it, have you been able to pre-load it?
also general homeworld thread
Buying it now
>mfw watching the launch trailer
Holy shit what the fuck was Gearbox thinking
Fuck that shit trailer - check out this one instead
Whatever happened to Shipbreakers? Is it still going to happen?
>Are you excited for Homeworld Remastered Collection? Launch is only a day away, and we still have plenty of cool new features left to tell you about.
>Throughout development, we’ve been working with the original creators of Homeworld to make sure it’s been remastered with the love and care it deserves. Once we launch, we’re excited to be joined by another collaborator: you! Homeworld Remastered Collection will offer tools for the community and will support mods, allowing for some incredible opportunities for you guys to create cool stuff.
>At launch, we’ll have a Steam Workshop tool available that will allow you to upload and download mods, and based on your feedback, we’ll be adding more functionality post-release. Classic mods can also be uploaded, so your original Homeworld 2 Classic mods can be uploaded to the Steam Workshop!
>We’ll have a guide on Mod Tools available on Steam after launch, so stay tuned for more details!
I have work tomorrow, so much work, I need sleep, but I want to play
>Post your face when Gearbox will never work to re-acquire the rights to Cataclysm from the corporate mess that swallowed Barking Mad studios into Activision/Rockstar
>Post your face when the source code will never be found, making a ground up remake all but impossible
You can, I think on the gameplay where the devs talk about homeworld had a yellow mothership on the first mission.
not sure about hw2 though, probably the sky blue color still.
I hope Cataclysm gets added (even if it ends up being DLC) just for the fact that the Somtaaw would rip everyone else a fresh new asshole in multiplayer
>vaygr fleet goes into Somtaaw zone
>expects docile miners
>instead finds the most batshit insane kiith in hiigaran history, armed with shapeshifting suicide ships, RAMMING SPEED and a WMD mounted on their mothership
Sad thing about this is you can't get that novel thick manual with the game like hw1 and cataclysm. Apparantly they made enough fluff content for a hw2 manual but it didn't get made for some stupid reason. Actually this makes me think, when's the last time you got a game that came with a manual? Guess it was either before games startes to get really casual or when tutorials became more useful.
cataclysm sourcecode is gone.
the only hope is that some serious modders basically re-create the assets in the remastered collection, because we will never see an official re-release.
Nothing but gravel out here
Well, it would'nt be Gearbox if they didnt fuck up SOMETHING.
I cant wait to see the Turanic Raiders and there kick ass music.
Thats one, im sure the complex guys are going to do it too since Gearbox actually asked them for their help, hope we get more.
Well, at the very least, if you can't, the original games are included as well if you need your fix of salvage corvette action.
They seem to have kept the differences between the races in each games intact, like how you control individual fighters if You're using Kushan/Taiidan, and formations if you use Hiigaran/Vaegyr, so salvage fun might still be possible.
Tfw FX:C modders were contacted to mod the other races too.
IIRC both game's gameplay are available.
did you go to the community event? because everyone who did got a free copy but apparently gearbox had some hiccup or something because they sent me three keys and I already used one.
>Mfw spamming ion Cannon Frigate Fleets
>Mfw those PEW PEW sounds
>Mfw 360 headshotting battlecruisers
I fucking love this site, mostly the HW1 and Cataclysm stuff. Though the HW2 ship data is really cut down, no manual fluff, just speculation and dev quotes.
The opening cinematics now feature the Base Runners from Hardware / Shipbreakers. Interesting!
The VA's are the same as they were years ago, Gearbox cleaned up the static and audio pop, doing so, they also brushed out a lot of smaller ambient things.
>muffled radio transmissions
>Clanking and groaning of the scaffold
>That winding alternator noise as the Mothership powered up.
yeah dude i love homeworld too, i still have my copy of 2 with the cd key and everything. but this is gearbox so i know at least 2 people are in this thread from them, so i just wanted to know if they were hiring is all
>The download seems to be the engine itself or something?
I'm guessing it's something like that, so I'd expect to have another download tomorrow for the rest. And the DLCs are the ports of the original games (that I wish we could fucking play tonight)
It's just proof that they're marketing an incredible game from 15 years ago to faggots like you who will probably scoff and whine when adiago for strings comes on
I'm assuming this a troll post, but I will say that adiago for strings is fucking great, and the version in this game is the best I've ever heard.
I think it's fine to enjoy Awolnation - Sail and still enjoy "Sophisticated" music.
Shipbreakers is being done by the original homeworld team.
The guy who wrote the script/plot/story for it wanted to do it as a prequel to Homeworld, except without the Homeworld bits, since they didn't have the IP.
When they started to crowdfund the project (Originally going to be F2P) they caught attention from Gearbox (Who had just acquired the Homeworld IP) because their art and design looked so similar to Homeworld.
Gearbox asked them if they'd be interested in porting their game over to the Homeworld universe, they agreed. (and little did gearbox know, the game was already based on the homeworld universe anyways, so hardly anything needed changing)
Once they were hired on, gearbox also got them to help out with the Homeworld 1, 2 remastering; they got in touch with old friends, voice actors, etc. and got higher quality original audio, original sketches and storyboards, new audio, etc.
Now the game is going to be a standard release, rather than F2P, and is presently still in development by the original homeworld team.
dude uploaded some high res pics of Homeworld.
