>Alright I got a set in mind that I want, time to gather the materials
>Hmm it would be easier to get these if I had a good hammer
>To make this hammer I need to go mine a lot
>Hmm it would probably be easier if I made a gathering set to get those mats
Fuckin' Monster Hunter man
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SOMEONE HELP ME GRIND SHAGURU MAGALA. I NEED HIS GEM PLEASE
>go out to hunt a Zinogre
>have part healing part support Palico team
>Ace Palico puts down a shock trap
Are you trying to help me or not you fucker?
Any time. Stick to noob rooms until you're comfortable, and as a general rule if you're really worried about your performance, then make sure to only attempt online monsters after you've beaten them in the caravan.
This guy was pretty cool, speaking as a tribabby. Was probably harder in FU but I won't be emulating anytime soon with all this shit in 4U I have to do.
>Alright I got a BBE I have to vanquish
>Hmmm it is NECESSARY to have the legendary weapon
>To get that weapon I need to go explore a lot
>Hmmm it would be probably be easier if I looked for someone to guide me towards the location of that weapon first
Fuckin' Generic RPG man
Help me guys, I'm a HH main and I'm starting to lose "flavor"
I don't even know how i can say thaton my weapon, it's like I'm not having fun anymore... But I still love it so I don't want to drop it
Does anyone have G-Rank Guild quests for Volicidrome, Kut-Ku and Bassarios that they would be willing to give me?
It's so fucking good man, crazy damage for the level I'm at and some of the best songs
Oh shit I made a thread without seeing this one, sorry guys.
I'm doing HR6 key quests
Room is 15-8313-2045-1994
Pass is 4455
Come hunt with me mah niggas
is CB really that obnoxious/overused, or is it just an extremely vocal minority salty about it for whatever reason?
on a side note, what do you think are the least-common weapons? just curious
Zinogre is easy as shit, I know they don't expect you to kill it because they don't even mention it when you do but it's an easy monster.
Tigrex on the other hand was broken, it can kill you in one hit in rage mode if you are wearing that shitty armor and most of your attacks will bounce off so there's no point in fighting that guy yet.
>Live in the South
>Slowly getting more snowed in
>2 inches on the ground already, several hours of heavy snow to go
>No class, Uni closed around 11
>2 days of Mon Hun
This is the best fucking week ever
CB is really, really strong (like MHF1 Lance and MHFU HBG tier) if you know how to use guard points but most new players don't know shit about the weapon and they are still useful because the weapon has good damage output.
I think people hate new CB players because they are very disruptive and they spam the double swipe (it trips players) instead of using GP and punishing the monsters with discharges.
Holy fuck, is the only LR Brachydios quest the one in the Gathering Hall that disappears half the time?
I need a fucking Brachy Hammer and the piece of shit has somehow managed to never drop any despite both arms being blown apart.
>there's a crab horn
I know what I'm making as soon as I get out of LR.
A few things get me about the CB.
First, it has everything and doesn't have any downsides.
It has both good raw and elemental damage without consuming sharpness at a crazy rate.
It has amazing KO with impact phials while also being a cutting weapon.
it has a SnS like shield, while also having a lance like guard with a charged shield.
It has guard points which can also KO.
I has decent mobility unsheathed in both modes.
At no cost.
Other than having to use it a bunch to learn it.
And that just annoys me.
The other reason is that a lot
not allCB users are doing the same thing that old LS users were guilty of.
Gluing themselves to the head and never leaving or considering others can attack it as well.
>Not RNGing into a +9 gather talisman.
I thought /v/ was good at video games.
Steam group. Active chat room. Hunting together. Join it.
>mfw one of my first talismans was a gathering +10
Suplex here, got a network error, remade a room
pass is 4455
Did you get a gold check on 6 star?
We're not talking about rank up, we're talking about completion. I've done Brachy.
I think this guy is right. But jesus why make those quests 6 star.
>consistently get Power C +4, Crag S +6, Cold Res +10 charms
>try melding all the useless charms together
>hit HR, start getting Timeworn Charms
>HERE WE GO
>Whim +7 and a slot
>Power C +2 / Clust S + 6
BETWEEN THIS AND THE HR ARMORS HAVING NO GOOD OFFENSIVE SKILLS I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH LONGER I CAN LAST
>mfw the only 8+ talisman I ever find is psychic
>mfw I've found 5 of these now
Fuck, I can't wait! Though I have to since I'm trying to do all my gathering hall quests. Been neglecting them in favor of the story so I can get all my shit upgraded besides meat.
What's the appeal to fighting the Tigrex? His entire body is a hitbox and he can just cycle through and trainwreck you, hit stunning you until you're dead.
>21 hours as female character
>want to switch to male after seeing how most sets look so much better on them
what is a good armor for a bow user who just started high rank? so far I've just been using what I think looks nice
So all those low rank palicos I got are useless now aren't they? I ahve to replace them with High Rank ones now, are there Grank ones? If so fuck the high rank I'll just get the grank ones.
Should've picked male form the beginning, faggot
>mfw I go into Pink Rathian HR Urgent solo on my first try expecting to get slaughtered
>play it super safe, get it limping and eventually cart for the third time
>mfw that went much better than expected and I'm confident I can take it on my next attempt with SnS instead of GS
Everyone leaves when they get their shit, not helping you out in return.
I'm just trying to do HR2 snowed in and primal forest or whatever the last one is.
The absolute fucking worst is when you're hosting a lobby and someone joins and starts their own urgent. Fuck off and make your own room.
I've never carted 3 times, but it sure felt like I did when that basarios ran away during that expedition. seriously fuck that fucking bullshit! I really need to make a perception set so I can know the absolute soonest time I can capture them
Hey, not sure if you need this tip but this saved me a fuckton with pink rathian. He's really the first HR roadblock and a pretty good gear check.
You know when he goes into rage mode? You need to get out stat. He always goes for that tail flip to poison and if you're underneath whacking away at him you'll stunned by the roar, then the wing buffet, then you get hit by a raged tail flip.
Even if you're not underneath him I have NEVER seen it do anything else besides that so once it roars circle it to bait out the tail.
I got to HR7 yesterday with friends. Fighting silver rath was a disaster.
>fireball for 9/10ths of hp after wind knockback
I think we need better equipment. At least rajang and daora were fairly easy.
>totally familiar with Pink Rathian, ready to beat her ass
>realize 4 minutes in that I forgot Mega Potions
Yeah, thanks, I noticed that kinda quickly too, when it went Rage mode I just stayed clear until it tail flipped, at which point I got a cheap shot off on it's tail as it lingered near the ground whilst Rathian hovered and got back out of dodge.
>haven't played since FU
>get to the tigrex
>aw yeah nigga time to get my shit rekd
>moves at half the speed
>doesn't do as much damage
>rage mode doesn't even move that much faster
fuck this game
What and Azure Rathalos was the 3U Flasgship you stupid cunt?
Box art isn't what matters
You can be carried through the online ranks, and village quests are pretty well trivialized by upper rank armors/weapons, allowing you to trade hits and just heal through the damage.
You also have the option to craft armor sets the can go a LONG way to trivializing specific monsters. Wind res (L) and earplugs can make los a bit of a joke, either will give you a ton of new openings. Sure, you still need to play, but the overwhelming majority of content can be turned into a joke with 4 people and smart gear.
That sort of time investment might not seem accurate for a casual game, but grinding is very much a casual practice.
MH is as casual as you have a group that is willing to make it.
What weapons is Rank 3 Gore set good for? Is it any good at all?
Yoyoyo, love the game but my hands are cramping. Anyone know of any decent handles or something for the NEW 3DS XL? Just looking for some recommendations, actually struggling to find any online :<
WHAT ARE THE QUESTS THAT INCREASE YOUR MEAT AND DRINKS
THOSE ARE THE TWO MOST IMPORTANT THINGS BUT THIS GAME DOESN'T WANT ME TO RAISE EITHER OF THEM FOR SOME UNGODLY REASON
>not having Crit Draw, Sharp +1, Quick Sheathe, and Tremor Res
there's not too many options currently, but i'm waiting on the price/shipping time to drop on the Cyber one myself
Shit son, not even him but it's a general rule of this game that you won't die if you don't get hit, and you won't get hit if you avoid it.
He is just trying to be nice to you. Shit works yo. Give it a try.
is there some kind of charm table database? I know charms reset each time you start the game, but I'm just trying to see which talismans are available as timeworn/shining etc. I need a crit draw talisman.
Yeah, I had a CPP for my old XL, but I couldn't stand the 2nd stick on it. Not that the nubs better but yeah.. Bothered me that the 2nd circle pad was looser then the main one.
How far in are you?
If you're starting Low Rank, Pecospander's a good choice. If you're a little further in, then the Rathalos switchaxe with Ceanataur helm+gloves, gore body+waist, alloy greaves and three grinder gems.
Picking based on power phials is all well and good, but do not neglect to upgrade to higher raw axes that may have other phial types just to keep hold of a power phial. Obviously the one with the higher raw will have a superior axe mode regardless of element phial, but we want to compare sword modes.
Let's do a comparison here with two make-believe switch axes.
SA1: 561 raw, power phial.
SA2: 676 raw, element phial.
Divide the raw values by 4.6.
SA1: 122 raw
SA2: 147 raw
Now, you take the power phial one, and multiply it by 1.2x to get the raw that'll be applied to its moves in sword mode.
In this case, you take SA2 regardless of being an element phial. Even if sword mode on SA1 after power phial amounted to 150, 155, or even 160 you'd probably still want SA2, since if they're the same element, the element phial one is likely to have more element (especially in sword mode) and thus be capable of making up the difference in raw. Also, you have to keep in mind that these raw values are typically reduced by a buttload before being applied to the monster, thus closing the cap even further. Then there's the fact that axe mode on SA2 would be stronger still than axe mode on SA1, and proper usage of the weapon necessitates not neglecting axe mode.
If they're close in raw before power phial, like SA1 went down to 145 or somesuch, then you'd definitely want to take that one as axe mode would be only marginally worse but sword mode would be way stronger.
Keep looking. I ordered one at 25$ shipped. Of course, it's been a week, and it will take another week to ship, but since you're already waiting the long delivery time is kind of irrelevant.
My shitty HR set has
Free lvl 3 unsheathing charges into slap + lvl 3 curved charges and finisher every time a monster is down or roaring.

I mostly like my CPP for the better ZR, ZL and the handle. I mostly just use lock on while fighting, and only really use the 2nd stick when I'm running around.
I'm glad I bought a CPP.
Also really great it worked with MM3D
>can get more poogie costumes through expeditions
>best costume is alright unlocked by default
So there's literally no reason to care about the rest of the poogie outfits. Mejor Hamigo is already the winner.
I fought a Kirin once in LR and have not seen him since. What gives? Please respond, I just want to fight him again, his armor and weapon are basically useless by now, I just need the fight experience ;_;
I just carted to a G Rank Great Jaggi. He hipchecked me into a wall, hipchecked me as I was getting up, and when I finally escaped the wall he turned around and bit me.
Is this a normal occurrence? Did I underestimate G Rank Great Jaggi?
>use weapon X 200 times in offline and online
>switch things up and try out the much discussed Charge Blade
>rek things left and right (after a while to learn this damn thing)

Is there a better feeling in this world?
Bitch you just got HEY'd to hell by the most niggest bird wyvern this side of the Wyverian Hub.
Does anyone know if the level of my 1-st stringers affect anything with my main and sub Palico? Does putting equipment on Palicos sent on meownsterhunter quests help at all?

Come on, two slots left for Shagaru Magala urgent !
Thanks for providing source nigger.
Flagship Monster for 3U is Brachydios
and for 4U is Seregios.
>wounded congalala trying to run away
>knock it down in sword mode
>switch to axe mode and kill it with final A hit
The scrub life can be fun too.
>only bowgun I can make that can load slicing can't use pierce shots
god fucking dammit, cutting tails as a gunner is so much suffering. at least hammerers can just ignore them since it's virtually impossible for them.
Not really. Large monsters just have multiple carving zones, with slightly different carve pools I believe, but I may be wrong about that.
Basically you can carve roughly 6+ times from Dahren Mohran, but if you only stick to one of the hitzones you'll only get like 3-4.
>mfw there are absolutely no good greatswords late HR/ early G that have as much raw and sharpness without insanely low affinity as edgeios'
>mfw it gave me an excuse to get HG earplugs so I can get in a dozen free chops on top of having infinite white sharpness
Urgent quests fucking suck.
Im HR20, and stuck on the Ukanlos urgent, which pretty much EVERYONE above HR7 seems to be doing and only one person gets credit for it each time.
I host my own hall and no one joins, its fucking stupid that theyre still using this broken system where, even if i was playing with 3 friends, we would need to do the same quest 4 times in a row to carry on progression
>run back to an area where a monster is after carting
>hear the monster go into rage mode
>despite the fact I'm a whole area away from where the monster is
It's the little things.
It's like this. This is for MH3 so don't think anything of it.
>using a weapon that's legitimately in the game
Just do it by yourself.
I managed to do it with a shitty GS and low rank armor, so you should be able to too. Just learn to funnel his swimming charge by making him run into the groove along the basin he sinks into the ground.
That doesn't split the head and body carves for Jhen Mohran. Inside Mouth is when it's flopped over on its side but not dead yet - you can run into its mouth and either attack for a short bit for massive damage or carve it for a chance at scales and dragongems. The body carves come in two 4x sections - body and head.
Ceadeus doesn't have multiple body carves. The horns are more akin to having two tails.
I don't like that they completely removed them at least.
I'd like there to still be 1 or 2 water battles. Flat out removing features is not cool.
Would work better now with c-stick too and they could probably make it even a bit better beyond that controls wise.
If he is "that kid" then you are this kid.
I liked them. They were relaxing. I actually especially loved Ceadeus as a relaxing hunt.
Honestly all they had to do was give vertical dodges i-frames, make swimming and dodging faster in general, and make weapons with distance-closing moves go even further than normal, then not make everything attack slow as balls. Bam, fixed.
Monster Hunter is one of the best games out there with regards to cost versus playtime. I don't mind shelling 20 buckaroos and treating Monster Hunter a 60 dollar game as its cost:playtime ratio will still be insane, if not even more insane because it's suddenly more comfortable to play.
Then there's also the fact that there's already other games on the system that support the thing.
>weapons that take skill
>weapons I like
GS, Lance, HH, Bow, GL, DB, LS, SnS, etc
>weapons that take no skill used exclusively by shit lords who can't play MH
>weapons I don't like
Fixed for you for objective accuracy.
Can I just use LR Diablos parts to get a HR Diablos armor, or will I have to fight HR Brachy and trade those for HR Diablos parts to get a HR Diablos armor?
I liked Shaggy Maggy. Requires a lot of awareness with all its AoE stuff, but doesn't force it to a coin-toss like other enemies that just make random geysers of death. Those directional discharges after the initial lobbed frenzyball is great.
Where can I find G-Rank Kelbis? what maps/quests? I need prized pelts.
>been using CB for about 100 hours
>dominate the shit out of every monster
>kill G rank gold rathian in 9 minutes
>kill her in 7:12
To be fair I used to main GS in F1, FU and p3rd but I thought CB was better in every fucking way. I suppose it's just more useful overall but GS is still king in terms of damage.
Also CB is more safe to use, you are pretty much invincible and it still does insane DPS.
How many expedition guild quests are there?
Are you capable of having every monster at Lv 140?
>took me like 5min trying to remember pariapuria
What a stupid ass name and monster concept.
New Room for urgent HR6 then HR7
One minor design flaw =/= garbage.
I'd call the PSP garbage because the claw is a fucking stupid control scheme and they could have easily made something with ZL/ZR to prove my point, but then stockholm syndrome clawfags would get on my case.
Only if you do nothing but critdraw sheathe
If you actually do "I'll stand over here and predict your fucking head will be right in front of me in like 3-4 seconds" then it's godly fun
It's not fine without cpp/nipple. You make it work because you're poor and have nothing else, but playing it WITH is basically making it a different game.
It's like some slum kid saying his dry bread tastes heavenly just because he never had anything but
I just really like the guard point mechanic on that shit
nothing more satisfying than a monster charging into you and getting KO'd
I think they should give the same mechanic to SnS that would be fair I think
>tfw you hunt with someone who doesn't let you sleepbomb monsters after putting them to sleep
Holy shit you fucking idiot WHY WOULD YOU ATTACK ITS WING WITH YOUR LITTLE SWORD AND SHIELD LET ME BOMB ITS FACE YOU FAGGOT
Slight exaggeration, but still in a fraction of the time it takes to take Seltas Queen down. With Pecospander I could utterly annihilate Seltas in moments the first time I did the Seltas Queen quest.
It's really not that different without a CPP or the nipple because you have soft lock and the virtual d-pad. Just a little more inconvenient
You people are fucking ridiculous, I swear
>I'd call the PSP garbage because the claw is a fucking stupid control scheme
The PSP games control miles better than an original 3DS/XL with no CPP. A snap-on on it would have surely made it better, though.
What kind of new weapons would you like to see in Monster Hunter 5?
I think the CB and IG are great additions, really unique properties and pretty well-designed.
Personally, I'd love to see a three sectional staff-like weapon. Not necessarily two seperate modes but the combo's allow for the staff to become a more close-ranged weapon etc.
Not really, no. Virtual d-pad and target cam are perfectly serviceable and I played for at least 80 hours before I got a CPP. Honestly playing without CPP is about as uncomfortable as The Claw was, but it could be done.
Not really? I mean making a monster centered around the little-used mechanic of eating meat is pretty nice. I'd say that only Jho on the main series has such a focus, with Tigrex and Congalala also eating it.
And hey, don't forget that the inflating frostshark's actual name is Zaboazagiru. Japanese names are dumb like that.
Jesus christ, Nintendo. I know you want people to buy worthless circle pad pros but if you play the game for more than 5 minutes you get used to the virtual D-Pad and play just fine with it.
Did you miss the part about the soft-lock?
And the virtual d-pad's a little weird, but I wouldn't call it uncomfortable. You just move your thumb over a little more
>No soft lock at all
Yeah no. Fuck off clawfag.
>inb4 m-muh lock-on is for casuals and ruining the series
Get your head out of your ass, lock on just makes things more convenient and honestly having a real lock-on would serve to make fights against faster monsters less of a hassle.
What's a good hunting horn line for LR/HR? I have no idea which ones are worth crafting.
My CPP was shipped a bit late, I brought it in tandem with MH4U.
I have played both with and without it.
Playing without a CPP is perfectly fine, the CPP is a convenience, it's not a necessity.
i've given up on ever trying to come up with a weapon that would fit in MH
Capcom's too good at coming up with shit you'd never think of thats also fun as hell to play
Maybe it would be cool if Gunhammer became a actual thing and not just a one-off weapon upgrade
as for how it would play I dont know you've got a gun stuck to your hammer now, have fun.
That's bullshit. Resize it and reposition it so that it's on the rightmost side right next to the Y button and elongate it so that up and down reach forever but left and right are next to each other.
Now just shift your thumb over to the touch pad and slide left to turn the camera left or leave it at the right to turn it right. If you get used to it, you can rest the joint of your thumb on the edge of the hard plastic and quickly measure out without thinking how far the left button is so you never have to do sliding shit.
Tactile response is ass, I'll give you that, but the Virtual D-Pad can and has been used quite comfortably. It's just that CPP is superior.
>build HR Iodrome gear
>armor spheres errywhere
>Defense+L kitchen, Adamant Seed, Might Seed
>Dung bombs in case party crashers show up
Besides some of her ultra-irritating patterns, moving from spot to spot every 30 seconds, and running around in circles for 10 minutes straight where you can't get a GOOD hit/combo on her, she'll be a walk in the park. Take out her tail first.
No you didn't.
>A snap-on on it would have surely made it better, though.
Get the fuck out with putting shit I never said in my mouth. The lock-on was the best 'fix' for the camera controls which MH really needed for the masses.
>Strain your index finger
That's because you're trying to claw.
Physical d-pad when you're attacking, virtual with right thumb when you're moving, target cam if you like, center when needed.
Jesus christ man.
Any Bow bros here?
The Type 2 controls are damn good, Jesus
>do my first triple monster quest online yesterday
>commendation G in rewards
>kill frenzy Jho in caravan today
>do the apex seregios urgent
>get a dissenter from a shiny
>carve another from the body
>get another commendation G in rewards and a zenith wyvern gem
>get a golden crown from the seregios
this game loves me
Why do clawfags still exist when we have the L button?
There's only two weapons I could really contribute and one's ANOTHER morphing weapon. The other one's a ranged weapon though so there's that.
Tonecannon / Hunting Harp and/or Battleshield.
I've already shared Battleshield quite a bit and I'm sure many people here are already familiar with the idea, so I won't paste it again unless asked.
Tonecannon / Hunting Harp is basically a ranged hunting horn that can create synergy buffs that last longer or have greater effect by matching song effects.
>What does that have to do with anything?
>m-muh lock-on is for casuals and ruining the series
These are your bullshit words which I never stated.
And yeah the PSP control scheme was better than the old 3DS with no addons.
shells are good for breaking parts and dealing damage on shit that your lance isnt sharp enough to poke
like uragaan's chin back in the day
i guess gravios in this game
can shoot stuff out of the air like rathalos or rathian with the upward shot
beside that you'll want to conserve the sharpness
shelling eats it up fast
Wide is shell all day.
Normal is shell to reset stabbing combo, full burst as often as possible.
Long is do whatever the fuck you want but honestly wyvernfire whenever you goddamn can.
Having two torso up pieces means 3x torso stats.
I'm glad that more bow users are embracing the beauty of Type 2.
If only my early game bow selection wasn't such ass.
You aren't moving and attack at the same time
Virtual with your right thumb is easy. And that's coming from someone who legitimately has some of the smallest thumbs in the world. It's not clunky at all, you just need to into management with your hands.
I rarely use the target cam.
And I'm not the guy you're responding to by the way
there's a separate rank for village and gathering hall quests
to raise your rank in gathering hall there's certain key quests you need to complete, then you'll get the urgent, do that and you'll rank up
I already tried 2 but I can't get used to it, even if I know it's 100% better in every way. But I'm too used to type 1 i can stop in place, aim my arrow and shoot in less than a second.
Maybe a day I'll switch
>fighting a Velocidrome on an expedition
>a Gypceros shows up
>manage to kill the Velocidrome, start fighting the Gypceros
>have the bastard on the ropes
>a goddamn Tetsucabra shows up
That and the mission where you hunt two Nerscyllas are the most intense moments I've had so far in MH4U.
If you're attacking then you don't really need to move, do you? Use the physical d-pad to adjust the camera.
If you're moving, then odds are you don't need to attack right then and there. Use virtual to adjust the camera.
In either case, L or LL to center/target cam as you wish.
I hope you set Bow Aim Mode Cancel to Manual when you were trying Type 2. Damn thing's a pain in the ass without it, as you can just leave Aim Mode on forever and fire at angles from the hip.
Obviously some areas need that less than others but it's nice when you do need it.
Guys im not sure if my poison sword is actually doing anything
>poison sword poison very easily and makes a purple bubble effect whenever I land a hit
>one in mh4u doesn't and never poison no matter how many hits even with felyne specialist
>other user with a weaker poison sword poisons stygian zinogre within a few hits
>Quest for two frenzied Tigrex
>Set off for the Steppe
>Second Tigrex arrives
>No dung bombs
>Realise that I grabbed dung instead
I'm so confused by the exploration/guild stuff.
You build up rarity until a quest becomes RARE, but what does that even do? Occasionally when I beat the RARE quest I do get a guild quest to hunt some pitifully weak monster at a certain level, but winning doesn't give me anything special and just increases the level by 1. The HELP section is of no use.
You know what kind of weapon I want? Something like DMC's hand to hand weapons. I always think about what kind of cool stuff it could have in my head
>Unsheath attack could be a jumping rider kick
>Could have an ORAORAORA mode that uses up a meter or stamina or damages you if you use it too much
>Better yet, there could be two types of these weapons. Huge Big O type ones with slow, powerful pneumatic punches and faster ones with Star Platinum punches
you can google it but basics are:
>doing well in expeditions (killing monsters, picking parts, etc) gives you a higher chance of receiving a guild quest at the end
>succeeding a guild quest raises the level of the next one you get by 3 each time, up to a certain level I forgot and will likely not reach
>higher levels bring stronger monsters and better relic loot
I know, I've seen some of that. But at least put it in the other games or make some sort of fist weapon, I wanna wear bug armor and play Kamen Rider MH.
Yeah I liked those quite a bit. I wish they could be slightly quicker and reach higher on the monsters though.
