What where they thinking with that horrendous c-stick?
They were thinking that it would only be used as a way to control the camera. Since that wouldn't benefit from a fully-fledged circle pad, they decided to make it small and close enough to the face buttons so that you don't need to constantly move your thumb.
Lets be honest, the 3DS's circlepad is shit anyway. Having a second one that's exactly the same would be even worse than the regular 3DS.
People who have literally not touched a n3DS ever say it feels shitty.
People here are simply calling others out on their bullshit. If you want to complain about the N3DS, complain about how they kept the same shitty circle-pad on the left without giving it more grip.
I refuse to buy this thing. I tried it out from a friend and goddamn that "nub"/trackpad bullshit is retarded.
Goddamn they just can't get it right. Vita get's it right... immediately. Nintendo can't stop fucking it up. Just release a handheld with a fucking second stick/slider built-in to the system.
Not in an add-on. Not an alternative. No. A fucking stick built-in.
between that silly nub and the wasted effort and resources put into adding amiibo support, i don't have any desire to upgrade. maybe after it has a handful of exclusives.
>Pay scalper price for n3ds because ports
>Get fired while it's in the mail with MH4U
>Too depressed to play vidya
It's just sitting on my table unopened and I have no desire for it. I just wanted to play vidya, /v/
Want to talk about it? How did you mess up?
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
everything about this is fucking retarded.
collect unemployment and play some monster hunter!
that shit was boss, I rode that tugboat for a few months and landed another job off craigslist a couple months before it was up.
it's going to be fine, anon.
JUST ACCEPT THE 2nd ANALOGUE STICK ALREADY YOU FUCKING FAGGOTS.
THE C STICK HAS BEEN SHIT SINCE THE FUCKING N64. STOP ACTING LIKE 2 STICKS IS A BAD IDEA JUST BECAUSE SONY DID IT FIRST GODDAMN ITS A FUCKING STANDARD ALREADY. THE WII WAS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO CHANGE THE MARKETS MIND AND THEY SAID YOU WERE WRONG.
GET WITH THE FUCKING TIMES.
What is a new 3ds that came out after the Wii U?
Wow, Nintendo got it almost right one time. So what? Its the only time theye done 2 sticks and its still their best controller ever despite the fucking awful shape.
I think they were trying to imitate the ThinkPad with the "c-stick"
Wait, wait, wait, are you guys seriously getting BTFO over the C-stick?
Look it's no vita dual joysticks, but it works, and it works well enough that no one cares that it's not a real stick.
At the end of the day, Ninty fans can't hear you over the sound of all the fun they're having.
So just calm yo self down, and play some games.
I just bought the red one today, I like the shade they used because it reminds me of chocolate-covered cherries. Did I choose the right color /v/?
I also bought the red one.
If I could go back in time I'd wait for black b/c the colours on the buttons are harder to see and mesh poorly with the shade qualitatively.
But, fucking NoA. Also my LL grip is on the way already.
The 2nd circle pad is coming...
On the NEW NEW 3DS XL next year.
Bank on it!
I hope you are happy with this.
I really hope so. I hope you find this really comfortable to use and keep using it forever.
Except that would suck. You use the ABXY way more than the stick, and the position of the that low would make it uncomfortable. To do the second full stick correctly, they would need to redesign the shell
Thinking of getting a n3ds, can someone tell me what the blurring/ghosting is like? I don't mean the ghosting you get if you have 3D on and move out of the sweet spot, I mean just the typical blur you get from certain types of screens.
Like on my original 3DS XL, a game like Shovel Knight would blur when in motion.
My only issue with the C-Stick is sometimes it feels perfectly fine, other times it feels like I have to push on it super hard.
Either way I don't care. I'm fine with it. It's not great, but it beats the big, clunky circle pad pro.
It's not bad for camera control. No, it's not as good as a second c-stick, but putting another one on there would be stupid since so few games even use it and then the actual face buttons would be lower and awkward to use.
A friend of mine had gotten a n3ds, and at first glance, the c-stick looked and felt awful since there was zero feedback. It was just a nub, and that was really off-putting. Though, when I proceeded to play a game of Sm4sh with it, it was actually pretty responsive. Can't speak for other games, but it felt pretty good for what I played with it. I'd still prefer it have some kind of feedback, but at least it works.
It works great.
>Useless in Monster Hunter
You're fucking retarded. I've got 100 hours in 4 Ulimate on N3DS. Works great.
We can't help it if you're brain damaged.
Yeah, it's definitely stiff. I mean, it's a nub with no sort of movement, so yeah it's stiff. I myself don't really like that fact, but I'm just saying it does work (again, from what little I could tell) pretty well.
>needs to be worn in.
Are you fucking retarded? Jesus christ, you're gonna break your fucking hardware. It works PERFECTLY from the very start. It's PRESSURE based, you're not meant to tilt it you fucking ape.
>C Stick will seem slightly stiff on new systems. Use the system for awhile to see if the situation improves.
What have you been playing on your new 3ds?
Pic related for me. shit's great.
>C Stick will seem slightly stiff on new systems
Irrelevant. It works at full capacity from the start. You don't need to tilt it or bend it almost at all. Ever. If you feel the need to make it bend when you're using it, you're doing it wrong.
>Use the system for awhile to see if the situation improves.
Again, this isn't refuting anything.
Take out whatever 3ds you have, put your left hand on the circle pad and your right where those buttons would be. That's how you would hold the damn thing for most/all of the time in most games and it's a fucking stupid and uncomfortable way.
None of that matters, the c-stick is actually great for monster hunter. Assuming it's not sweat soaked to the point where your finger slips off it. Why they didn't texture the nub is a mystery, if not downright retarded. Smooth, flat buttons are just asking for fingers to slip.
It's not that big of an issue at first, because I wipe off the nub frequently, but after 4 hours of hunting it gets noticeably slicker.
I used the nub on a display model, I was really disappointed that it didn't move AT ALL.
But, it works. It's in a decent spot. I really just wish the smaller model came out in NA. While I enjoyed using the XL, I just don't see how I could play it on the go. I commute, and have tons of free time while I'm not at home, so I tend to fill it in with vidya. ob
What about now?
Now the Extra Stick is totally unusable.
You're dumb. Your revisions are stupid, N3DS is the best compromise possible. You're acting like the second stick is for anything but fucking Monster Hunter/Resident Evil Revelations/MGS3 3D
>Not just using lock on
I have never had a problem with the 3DS MH camera. Big monsters? Lock on. Small monsters? Auto center is good enough.
It's only a bitch when swimming, but it's entirely manageable.
>nub designed perfectly for the claw position
>amerifats have trouble with everything
>He doesn't use a gunner weapon
>He doesn't want fine camera control for when two monsters inhabit a zone
>He doesn't like being able to examine the environment and pan the camera easily and smoothly
A U T I S M
HOLY FUCK I AM SO GLAD IM NOT A MONSTER HUNTER FAGGOT
STAYING AWAY FROM THAT GAME
UNTILL IT GOES TO A REAL MMO PLATFORM LIKE PC
There's a dent for that.
I hated it at first but I like the c-stick now. I don't use it for smash bros(I don't for the console versions either) but it's convenient for Majora's Mask. I just hope we get more support for it.
I know it would never happen, but I would love to see a handheld with vita tier hardware with nintendo software. The vita is such a nice little device, I've just already played all the games for it that I'm interested in.
I can go left and right in Monster Hunter fine, but fuck going up and down with the camera. If your thumb is the tiniest bit sweaty good fucking luck doing shit. It works fine if you decide to put your finger underneath your shirt or something though. The fact that theres no way to calibrate the sensitivity is a huge oversight though.
>MH3U/MH4/MH4U all sold very very well.
Sure thing kiddo
SHIT DESIGN. WHY DO YOU THINK YOU'RE GOING TO SHIT OUT A BETTER LAYTOUT THAN NINTENDO WITH 10 MINUTES EFFORT IN FUCKING MSPAINT? NINTENDO EMPLOYS PROFESSIONALS TO DO THIS AND PROBABLY SPENT A WHOLE WEEK LOKING AT C-STICK PLACEMENT.
JESUS FUCK. GIVE UP.
>Only people who have literally never sucked a dick say it feels shitty
Argument could be applied to pretty much anything mate. It's shit.
The only reason they didn't add a proper second stick is because they're going to wait it out and have it as their big "innovation" when the 3DS's true successor comes out.
No it's not. His placement makes it fucking impossible to use comfortably. You're as dumb as he is
You realize DS and 3DS beat out PSP and Vita right? More people own the Nintendo machines. It makes sense to make games for them.
>NEWFAG UNDERRAGE SHITS UNAWARE OF GOD MASTER RACE CLAW GRIP FROM MONSTER HUNTER GAMES ON PSP
GIT FUCKING GUDD
So? Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Freedom 3 remain the best selling MH games, not talking about hardware sales here.
You're also saying the d-pad is fucking impossible to use comfortably.
If I want to keep the cunt jokes coming, you're giving me ample opportunity since the games are nearly the same.
Why can't they just do what Sony did? Two actual functioning sticks in addition to a D-pad? Oh wait this is Nintendo. Shit has to be difficult just for the sake of it.
FYI - I don't own any modern handhelds. I just thought the C-stick was dumb the minute I saw it.
Let me explain to you what happened.
>higher up: 'add a second circle pad'
>engineer: 'yo, not going to happen without a complete redesign'
>higher up: 'make something work'
>engineer: 'eye I'.
>Portable 3rd: 4.8 million
>Freedom Unite: 3.6 million
>Freedom 2: 2.4 million
>Freedom: 1.3 million
>MH4: 4.10 million
>MH4U: 3 million (keep in mind it just released outside of japan)
>MH3U: 2.40 million
Looks about even.
>Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Freedom 3 remain the best selling MH games
They remained on the market for years. I'm not impressed. Call me when 3U/4U fail to match those numbers over the same time period.
>You're also saying the d-pad is fucking impossible to use comfortably.
No I'm not.
>not talking about hardware sales here.
Yes you are. What you said basically meant you felt 3U and 4U would've sold better on PSP or Vita. You're being a retard either way though, so it's a moot point.
You're fucking hilarious. Seriously.
>Hear that a lot of people are having trouble with the transfer, losing their data and shit left and right after taking the entire day off to transfer their shit
>Do it myself
>Takes at least 15 minutes of cute pikmins running back and forth
>Nothing of value was lost
That was fucking no hassle at all, I don't know what those people had a hard time with.
The only hard part I had was replacing the stock microSD card with a 32GB one because it wasn't clear if the screws actually came off, I sat there unscrewing them for a good 5 minutes.
The 3DS is a fucking prison for Monster Hunter 4 in every way. Its playable, but everytime I start that game I wish it would instead be on Vita. And I don't even own a Vita and only bought the 3DS because I wanted to play MonHun. After seeing toukiden in action im almost certain that MonHun would also look that good. Shit looks like a PS3 game. Instead MonHun4 looks like a 10 years old PSP game on a 240p screen. Its a shame, really.
I just bought a N3DS XL yesterday after worked
I honestly have no idea why I bought it
better speakers, very loud
lighter than XL
3D in front is great
left thumb stick has a larger wall so it doesn't rub over it; the original XL had a small wall causing it to rub over and potentially break off
power button placement is god awful, awkwardly holding it
3D doesn't work for people behind or beside the one holding it
doesn't fit in my 3DS XL hardcase,, results may vary
wifi slider is no longer present, you have to turn wifi off at home menu
sometimes the lighting cuts in and out annoyingly and randomly, first it's bright then it is like playing on a GB
I have been playing MH4U for the past two weeks and the nub can get annoying.
When your hands sweat is where it really falls apart, but trying to move the camera down with the nub is really a bitch.
Still, it is a nice addition but it does make me wish for a proper second circle pad.
People are retarded.
Don't forget all those bricked Wii U consoles when impatient retards unplugged it during a lengthy day 1 patch. Also lots of misinformation about transfers was spreading on /v/. Most people had been told they needed to use their PC as an intermediary for the transfer and all sorts of other bullshit.
Absolutely totally utterly pathetic.
Fucking forget the fact that 4 Ultimate is a clear upgrade of 3 Ultimate from a visual standpoint.
